I've used this alteration shop for over five years, so I was extremely disappointed with my most recent experience. I dropped off two dresses on July 31 for minor alterations and was given a completion date of August 8. I stopped by on August 7 by mistake and was told they would be ready the next day as scheduled. When I returned on August 13, two days before my event, the dresses still had not been touched. I had made it clear both when I dropped them off and when I stopped by on the 7th that my event was August 15. When I handed over my ticket on August 13, the first response was essentially, "I'm usually behind," which was frustrating considering they were already five days past the promised completion date. She offered to complete the alterations in an hour while I waited. When I politely asked whether there would be a discount because of the delay, her attitude completely changed. She became rude and told me I could take the dresses somewhere else, stating that her labor was already cheap. At that point, no labor had even been performed. Being busy or running behind is understandable, but repeatedly accepting work with promised completion dates you cannot meet, and then becoming rude to a longtime customer for questioning the delay, is unprofessional. If you are consistently behind, it may be better to stop accepting additional orders or give customers realistic completion dates. Unfortunately, after more than five years as a customer, this experience was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Lady who "assisted" me with alterations to my sports jacket I purchased through the frauds Men's Warehouse was extremely rude and unhelpful. She measured so wrong. when I picked my sports jacket up three weeks later, the lady threw the jacket at me while she was on the phone and as I tried it on I noted the sleeves on my newly purchased jacket was now super short. she kept insisting I had made the mistake. horrible customer service. stay far from this place. they need new ownership. read more

Took in $400 worth of clothing. 2 pair of pants had issues so i had to take them back. The lady barely speaks english, but she kept saying if you are going to blame me i cant work with you. I had to remind her i just spent more money than her average customer and she was just very rude from what i could understand. Needless to say, i expressed my dissapoinment and told her this is not how you treat people. She over promises on clothing and under delivers. She trys to charge lower rates by a couple dollars, but she has no help. So clothing is always delayed. If you need clothing within a week, do not take a chance as she may not have even started to work on them. I hate leaving bad reviews, as i have left over 1500 good reviews across multiple sites.. I had a number of uniform pieces to adjust. I tried explaining what I wanted but Jenny argued with me and complained, especially when I tried to bring a piece back that wasn't done correctly. It was quite a drive to this tailor but when I went to pick up my clothes at the agreed time they hadn't even started them! I had to wait almost another week and make another journey. The hem of the skirt doesn't lie properly and the waist was still too big on one of them, which is why I tried to bring it back. I don't think they want customers. read more

I am only giving her two because at least she was nice. I took two dresses in to have them taken in at the shoulders. Pretty standard stuff. She told me it would be a week, but to call first because it's prom season. I call on the day she said they would be ready and she said giver her 30 minutes. I told her I can pick them up the next day. I stroll in the next day at 11 and they aren't ready. Seriously? I said I would come back at one. Spoiler alert; they were not ready at one, she said that she would "do them real quick." I don't want someone to take a week and then only spend 5 minutes on the items, I want her to take all the time she needs. She also told me it would be $18 per item because she would have to take them in at two places. It was obvious (because she used white thread on a blue dress) that she did not tailor them in two places. She was charging me double what my old place charged. Also a part of a closure was missing when I got it home. I asked for a discount because of the delays and she gave me %20 off the already inflated price. This is my third and last time to use Northeast Tailor. My first experience was good - I was referred to them by the staff in the Men's Suits department at Dillard's in NE Mall. They were able to complete a quick turnaround alteration of a new suit as promised. But the two subsequent experiences have been bad and I won't be back. Here are the details: The second visit: I needed them to alter a suit coat and a new overcoat. The completed items still didn't fit well and the stitching on the overcoat came apart right away. I also noticed a troubling bit of behavior. While I was waiting to be measured, I observed the owner of the shop tell two customers that her credit card machine wasn't working and they'd have to pay cash for their items. After these customers left, the owner rang up a sale for a 'regular' on the allegedly malfunctioning credit card machine. So, she's lying about her machine and probably not reporting her cash sales to the IRS. An outright scam. The third visit: I needed two pants and a jacket altered. While being measured for the alterations, I observed the SAME scam about the credit card machine perpetrated against another customer. I should have left right then. Five days later, my items are complete and I go to pick them up. The fit of the jacket is HIDEOUS and she tells me that my claim check for $41.14 in alterations was 'figured wrong' and I owed her over $75.00. Bullshit. I told her she was running a scam and had done a horrible job on my jacket. She offered to fix the jacket, but I declined her offer. After a brief exchange about her credit card scam, she subsequently charged me the original $41.14 for my alterations. This woman is claiming to accept credit cards but subsequently lies about the status of her credit card machine so she can take just cash, which I'm sure she is underreporting or not reporting on her taxes. She is estimating one amount on her claim check when customers initially get measured for alterations, then charging considerably more when they come to pick up their items. Lastly, the quality of her work is not good. I will not be back. read more

My hair stylist recommended this tailor, as she brought a bridesmaids dress in here that was flawlessly brought from a size 8 to a 2. I brought my wedding dress in to be fitted, hemmed, bustled, and have sleeves added. The tailor really took her time, told me what would work and what wouldn't, and made sure I was satisfied before I left my fitting. Her turnover time and pricing is unbeatable, for absolutely amazing work! I ended up bringing my veil to her to have snaps put on the comb, and a custom made sash after her work on my dress came out so well. I had all this stuff done for a fraction of the cost the boutique I purchased my dress at quoted me just to get my dress hemmed, and her work is wonderful. I cannot recommend her enough!! read more

This place is great. Owner seems to always be there, even after hours. My suit pants for my wedding were hemmed and tapered to look way better than they did off the rack. My brother needed a hem fixed that was done terribly by another tailor, we were able to walk in and walk back out within 20 minutes with his slacks fixed. Amazing service at a great price. DO NOT! I repeat... DO NOT go to this place. I've read the reviews and figured the one bad couldn't be so bad. Walking into the door, no one greeted me until about 10min later. There was only on person working and she was very short when talking to me as though I was interrupting things she had to do. And yes there seemed to be an awful lot of clothes here. (One person). I just need a shirt taken in, she said it would be done in a couple of days. I asked if she was sure, again, in an annoyed tone she said yes. I tried the shirt on and waited another length of time for her to size. Here's what sealed the deal for me...Upon sizing she says "this looks like a woman's shirt". I laughed and said "no it's a mens" she goes on to insist " No. It's a woman's" (this the most she's said to me and it would be this). I'm never easily insulted but...as this was a new shirt with "Zara MAN" tag still on it, I needed to point that out... All the while taking the fitting pins out of the shirt while explaining to her that she is and will potentially lose a lot of business. She seemed un-phased. But hey. I'd rather go someplace where I can walk out with the comfort of what I'm paying for. As I think further... I don't give a crap if I were a cross dresser, you should never feel comfortable to question your customers garments. JUST DO WHAT IS ASKED IN A TIMELY FASHION! read more

I took a bridesmaid dress to be hemmed and have a slit added in the front over my leg. When I originally when to pick up dress she had only cut the slit on the bottom layer not the top one, I explained I wanted the complete cut so when I walk it would show my leg , she said to come back next day to pick up after she fixed it. I went to pick up the dress today , she had sowed both lawyers together , I explained it did not look right because it bubbled on the top, Lady got very upset ( I believe her name is Jenny ) started telling me to take my dress that she was not going to fix it anymore, I told her in a nice way why are you so upset I just want the dress fixed and done the way I initially asked her too. lady said she did not want my money and to leave , I was shocked , I kept asking repeatedly alright fine i'll take my dress just tell me how much I owe , she said she did not want my money , I left her money on the counter because she did work on my dress , but I will for sure never go back or recommend anyone , my dress was an expensive dress which is now ruined , not to mention what she was charging me, it was crazy expensive for the awful work she did. read more

I am so disappointed in the customer service here after having good experiences in the past. When I left a few pair of shorts to be altered on a Monday I was told they would be ready on Thursday. When I returned Friday morning I was told they just couldn't get to them but if I could give them 30 minutes they would do them right away. Unfortunately I couldn't wait so I explained I would be back on the following Monday. I'm leaving now with still unaltered shorts! Decided to give this place a go, figured the positive experiences out weighed the one bad. Although they ended up making my situation right it was one I would have rather not experienced. I brought my bridesmaid dress in on Feb 4 for some minor alterations. The lady told me and wrote on my ticket that it would be complete the following Thursday. I came in the following Friday and she said it was not done and that she could do it in an hour and I could come back. Because this is located near my work and not my home I waited until the next Tuesday to come back (the 17th). I walk in and again I am told it is not ready and that she can do it in an hour if I want to come back. Not wanting to risk leaving again and it not being ready again I sat in the lobby and waited. In the end the alterations were complete and they lowered the amount by $10.00 and I was satisfied. If you don't mind babysitting your alterations then this place is fine, if you don't want to have to worry about them, this might not be the place. read more

The lady seems very nice. She told me to comeback after work, I did, she said she didn't start. I told her I would be back on Saturday, 3 days later. Went back, knocked on door and she didn't answer door. I went back week later, forgot ticket, told no ticket no items. Called her gave the ticket # told her I was on the way, no problem, arrived an hour later, she laughed and said I didn't give her enough time. Ok. Well 5th visit brought wife since it was her items, we looked and didn't locate. After explaining they were new items needing hemmed, she said OH those, she brought them from under a pile on the side, had another persons name and ticket on them. She offered to have them done in a few days. Declined took elsewhere. A couple of the times I went she seemed unconcerned. It wasn't until I brought the boss (my wife) they seemed to be on the same sense of urgency. Wont be a next time here. She was pleasant after she located the items. read more

Please DO NOT TRUST THEM with wedding attire. After receiving a good recommendation from another bride, I was shocked to find so little attentiveness to customer service. I needed a simple addition of lace sleeves and was fitted for them in December, and after hounding them once a week for SEVEN weeks, we pulled the dress and lace yesterday after Jenny lied to our face and told us it was done and ready for my 04/14/12 wedding. I feel deceived and devastated and am now scrambling to find someone who can rush my wedding dress. Please find someone who answers the phone and conducts business as if they wanted returning customers. If it mattered more, I'd sue for breach of contract. I have been using Northeast Tailor in Hurst Texas for years. The seamtress can do everything - not just alterations but also repairs, restyles, costumes, and even custom garmet builds.
