The salesman was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Despite a lot of talk about how we would hardly ever pay another electric bill, there's only been one month that we haven't still had a bill. Worst of all though, is a safety hazard they created that we didn't recognize til winter. One of the sets of panels is set up above our front door. After a heavy snowfall, as the snow starts to melt, the snow on the solar panels falls in a single avalanche right over our front steps. It took down the gutter this year, and I'm terrified that if one of our kids or my elderly MIL (who lives with us) happens to be under that spot when the snow goes, it could cause a serious injury. Of course we called the company, but it took several calls to get to a supervisor. They won't take responsibility for their poor design, and offered to sell us a guard to redirect the fall of the snow. I wish we'd picked another company. read more

Sunrun installed solar panels on my roof in December 2025. They said it would pay for itself and before not too long I would receive rebates from BGE. Didn't happen. Also they said I needed a new roof and the $4,000 would be financed through their companion company called Goodleap for 20 years. The cost for these was $52 monthly for the panels and $100.00 monthly for the roof for 20 years. Recently found out the $100.00 monthly for the roof is only the interest payment and at the end of the 20 years I will still owe $4,000.00 plus more ibterest. Trying to be nice I listened and told him I would research the company and contact through the website for a survey. He told me that if I did that I would miss out on the benefits he could provide. I told him that was a weird way of doing business and made me think he wanted to insert himself as a middle man and again said I wasn't interested. He kept talking and I told him to leave my property. He then insulted me so I treated him as a child and told he had the count of three before I called the police to have him removed. He still kept talking. If this is sunrun's idead of customer interaction and proper business process then it is no wonder they have bad reviews for post installation corrections. They bought my contract from vivid solar. Vivid put solar panels on my roof free of charge and I pay less for the power that is produced on my roof. Ever since Sunrun took over everything vivid promised me is now not being done. The system has been off since June 2025. It is now March 2026 and the system is off, but they still sent me bills. I did not know it was off. They're gonna pay me back and I'm sure it's gonna be a fight. The system has been in this repair for years. The person who handles my system, turned it off because it became too unsafe to run fire hazard. Been fighting them for years to get something done about it. They keep warning me to pay for the repairs, which under my contract, I am not responsible for I don't own them. They are just using my roof, which is what they told me. Recently decided to review my solar system i purchase from Sunrun after 3 years of not seeing any benefits of the install. Sunruns contract clearly states systems estimates and size, after comparing it to the 3 year totals of production it was drastically under what the contract size states. Called manager and they could not be any more ignorant, basically said it's your system you own it, we can help you. So after them scamming me for charging me for a "xxx" size system, and install and smaller one, they were willing to do nothing. Sunrun manament, owners, and employees should be embarrassed. Re: our experience with Sunrun solar: The sales team was responsive and had an attentive communication system with us: what to expect from initial analysis, when and how the panels would be installed, and the delay between the installation and activation (dependent on electric company). SUNRUN app is easy to use etc. So our initial interface WAS FULLY POSITIVE. In hindsight our 1st mistake was paying our bill in full before we determined successful installation and functionality. 2nd mistake: not questioning the crew that installed the panels. This was truly a case of not knowing what you don't know: we assumed it was Sunrun crew that installed panels. We later learned that Sunrun had outsourced the installation itself ( which could infer a less than professional job). We developed water leaks immediately. SUNRUN assigned a "property escalation expert". We have had 4 "EXPERTS"since we first noticed the leak about a year ago. None were or are accessible or responsive which may explain why we have had 4. SUNRUN sent various "experts" to assess/redo the incorrectly installed panels. Eventually ( almost a year) SUNRUN secured a subcontractor to repair the water damages. Again a months' long delay ensued while we awaited SUNRUN approval of proposal. To add insult to injury, at the start of the repair process we learned that 90% of solar panels needed to be removed to make repairs. No one ever informed us that the roof had sustained such excessive damage! Our solar array is sitting on the lawn and has been for a month and counting. NO ONE HAS CONTACTED US TO REINSTALL. Almost daily we have requested communication with a SUNRUN MANAGEMENT associate and have yet to have anyone contact us. The subcontractor that completed repairs has been professional both on the phone and the crew(s) sent for the work. But now we are at square one because these panels need to be reinstalled which could lead to additional damage/leaks. Although SUNRUN has fulfilled their obligation to (eventually) fix damages, we feel we are owed something over and above this for the woeful delays and lack of concern/communication/response/and the most OBVIOUS: NO SOURCE TO COLLECT SOLAR! I am under contract with Sunrun. My system has not been performing since August 2024. Sunrun just fix it March 2025, becausethey were waitingon a part to come in. I have been paying a high electric bill and not benefitting from the solar panels. This is an ongoing issue with my panels. Sunrun used to credit me for the time that the panels were not working. Now, they've decided that it is a perfectly okay to pay for a system that isn't working properly and pay a high electric bill. The results have f the damage finally manifested into major damage to my roof and second floor of my home. It took them 6 months to finally take accountability and then another month to finally send out a repair team, only to find out only half of the work was approved. my original case manager was non responsive and lacked professionalism when she was. it's been a month since I was given a new case manager and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the same results... NONE! I want my roof fixed now. With all the rain we've been getting, they're going to have to send out another interior repair team on top of the roof guys. When Sunrun installed the stand alone and solar roof panels everything was great at first. However, a tree fell on the stand alone panels due to the weather. We had the tree removed a month later. It's been 4 years and Sunrun has not repaired the panels. We made numerous attempts to the company to correct this issue. They came out about 4-5 times to assess the damages but does not followup. They just turned off the power to the panels. We stopped payment beacause we were not receiving service. Now, they are threatening to turn us into a collection agency. To get a new roof, they will remove, store, replace the panels for: -2018, at time of contract, $499 -2020 $6400 unless we wait for 5- yr anniversary then $499. Obviously we waited. -5/2023, Sunrun charges $170 per panel to remove them for new roof installation. That's $10,880 for us. Making it nearly the cost of the roof itself. No discounted rate. I inherited a Sunrun PPA when I purchased my house, due to storm damage we need to have our roof replaced. Our contract has specific language for the cost and terms of a temporary panel removal and reinstallation. Since contacting Sunrun almost 3 months ago to have the panels temporarily removed for a damaged roof replacement they have done nothing except try to sell me on doing the roof replacement themselves and lied to me about new local permitting laws that were slowing down their process (I called the permitting office and confirmed). They are very clearly attempting to make this process so inconvenient for me that I have to seek a 3rd party to pay independently to do the panel removal because they do not want to stay true to their contracted terms of temporary panel removal and replacement because it costs them money. They are greedy and inefficient. Go find someone else, and do your due diligence, because there are plenty of other shady solar providers too. read more

Things started off well with this company. Slashed my bill in more than 1/2. A few months later my roof began to leak and needed a total roof replacement. Well I was shocked because I just had the roof inspected by solar company and I got the green light for the panels. Well I wasn't worried because I was told in consultation they would remove them if anything happened to roof. So I called and found out, yes they would remove them, but I had to pay for it! I needed a new roof so of course I agreed. Well it was not the same company that put the initial panels up and they put them up differently (seems they were on a higher bracket or something) anyway, they looked great, but my electric bill is back where it started before the panels. Had another issue that I had my crawl space under the house redone, well unbeknownst to me, the solar company had put the grounding rod right next to the freaking crawl space door so now I have this rod drilling out the ground in the door area. When I called Sunrun, I was told I needed to call an electrician. Just so unhappy with the service and stuck with panels not doing me any good while still paying for them. Poor service and hardware quality. I scheduled a service call due to low performing panels. It took several voice mails for case manager Diane to call me back. She said service was scheduled for a certain date to replace the microinverters on the two poorly performing panels. Sunrun was a no-show for the appointment. I left Diane multiple voice mails and she never returned my call. I then called general Sunrun customer service and the rep put me on hold several times to talk with Diane (not sure why I could not talk with Diane directly since she was obviously free). Diane told the rep the techs came to my house but decided the panels were not reporting due to a monitoring issue. I told the rep the service call was for low output, not for non-reporting panels. Again rep spoke with Diane while I waited on hold and then came back with a different story: the microinverters will not be replaced because they are operating within contractual values. My concerns: * why did Diane schedule the service call in the first place if the panels were operating within norm? * I suspect no tech actually visited my home because if some even pull out front my dog goes ballistic - he did not do that on the day of the appointment * why did Diane have two completely different responses to the same question about why the tech team did not show? * the poorly performing panels are operating at about 60% of the remaining panels. 60% seems too low to be in norm. the panel location is not the issue because I had my roof replaced and the panels were reinstalled in different locations. these same two panels reported low output before and after my roof replacement. read more

I can't even select a rating because I am at this Point enraged and going to proceed with a lawsuit . Our solar was installed by SunRun/Vivant Solar Aug 18, 2021 during a torrential rain storm. And it was only installed during the rain bc the installation crew was adamant that they do installs in the rain all the time. Prior to install our roof and home were deemed stable and solid for install, and we were told by our rep that anything that occurs after install SunRun is 100% liable for. On September 2nd, the next rain event, we awoke to a swimming pool in our bedroom. The roof was leaking and water damage everywhere. SunRun was immediately notified (our rep) and he provided us with contact info, where then after receiving that info our rep no longer was returning our messages and calls. We left messages with customer service and many times were told someone will get back to you, when they actually answered. December the company called and said they were going to come the NEXT DAY to remove the panels. We said absolutely not as it is now winter and a new roof will not seal correctly and we did not want hundreds of holes in our roof from a removal, especially with our roof at the time sealed up by a board up company so it would no longer leak. We told the company we will proceed with removal in the spring and up until today any messages left have not been returned to their phone numbers in Colorado that we were provided. And now today I received an email from SunRun saying that they are terminating our agreement and they will no longer be the owners of the solar panels, leaving us with sole responsibility of damage. This is unacceptable and we will be getting a lawyer to resolve this breach of contract, negligence at install, and disgraceful customer service. read more

Sunrun says they will remove solar panels if we need to replace the roof or siding. So getting new siding and called them to find out first there is an $800 cost for removal and installation. Next they send out a contractor who had no idea what to do, no ladder or equipment. After almost electrocuting himself trying to remove the box, He said he didn't have tools and his supervisor. Supervisor showed and only removed the box but not the conduit so siding can be replaced. Also left connected wires near walkway a serious issue if kids or animals play with it. I have had my solar temporarily turned off for a generator to be installed and three times the company has sent the wrong department or a technician without the proper parts. This has had a costly delay in my generator installation and other household projects dependent on this step. We scheduled to have our roof replace and worked with Sunrun to have the panels remove. Sunrun informed us that it would be 30+ days for them to remove the panels, we had areas where the roof was leaking and asked if the process could be expedited. They did accommodate us. During the reroofing process the roofing contractor informed me that there were additional plywood sheets required due to while stripping the roof there were items still attached to the roof and while scraping down to the plywood created holes in the plywood and I would be required to pay for the additional sheets of plywood. Sunrun did not locate the panels, for onsite storage, where I requested them to place them. The rear deck had debris and wires all over, they did not clean up after the work was completed. while cutting the grass we had several of the hold downs for the solar panels throughout the yard. The original company that we contracted with was Vivint Solar which were very easy to work with and they would stop and check on a regular basis on how the panels were working I cannot say the same for Sunrun. The roof was replaced in the beginning of September, and we are waiting for Sunrun to reinstall the panels, at a cost of $499.00, which will not happen until November 11. I would not recommend Sunrun to do any work for anybody I know not even someone I dislike!! read more

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. We bought a house in October of 2022 that unfortunately already had solar panels on it through SunRun. If we wanted the house, we had no option but to take over the contract so here we are - and let me tell you it has been nothing but a nightmare ever since day one. It started with billing issues, being overcharged, etc. After numerous phone calls that was all straightened out - it was not an easy process to correct by any means though it was definitely a struggle! Flash forward to August 7, 2023 - we had a tornado come through our area causing numerous trees to fall onto our house. We filed an insurance claim as a new roof is needed and solar panels are damaged as well. Contacted SunRun to get the process started with them to remove the panels and the lady stated it would no problem that she was going to email me a form and I just needed to complete it and email it back - no problem! Except for the fact that she never sent the form. Called back the next day and they apologized and sent the form - great, we completed and returned the form. Two days go by and I hear from no one, so I contact SunRun and ask for an update. They state they don't have any updates and I would have to wait. Flash forward a week and I call again, finally speak with someone who seemed helpful at the time. Stated he was passing our information on to a third party company, American Solar Repair, and that I just needed to contact them. I have called American Solar Repair for 2 weeks straight and left messages - no answer, and no returned call. I have called SunRun to assist, each time they put me on hold to tell me that they are going to try to contract American Solar directly. Each time coming back to tell me they also cannot get in contact with American Solar and that I would just need to wait for a call back. We are now a month and one day out from the tornado - I still do not have a date to get the solar panels removed nor do I have an estimate to submit to insurance regarding the repairs needed on the solar panels. At this point, I cannot get in touch with anyone and when I do get a rep they inform me that my Account Manager, Jesus, will contact me shortly - apparently "shortly" to SunRun means a month and counting....
