Regarding the company, the installation occurred ahead of schedule and the technicians were professional. Technicians called to confirm their arrival time each day and provided updates as they worked. They were careful with our home and property. The inspection was scheduled quickly and passed without issue. I am excited to start receiving massive savings on our BGE bills. Sales: Our rep Greg was great to work with. Very responsive, knowledgeable, and we never felt rushed or pushed into anything. We got panels installed in fall 2025 and got the system turned on in January. Greg answered a million questions and has continued to be our liaison and advocate. They under promised our production and have over delivered on our pepco savings. However, our roof was in rough shape but instead of letting us know that we shouldn't get panels before fixing the roof they said it would be fine and when we replace the roof in ten years they will remove and reinstall the panels for free under warranty. So after some big rains we realized we had roof leaks. Now the leaks were not coming in directly where they installed the panels, just close by. Our roof never had issues before, but with a bunch of guys climbing and hammering into it, there was bound to be issues. Without going into excruciating detail, the sales team has been great but the customer service from the company is lacking unless you get harsh with them. Having to wait 4 months to get panels reinstalled after getting a new roof, the techs not labeling the electrical so reinstall did not go smoothly, and two electrician visits because the first one didn't connect all the panels did not leave us impressed with the service. Finally all is resolved, but it's been a roller coaster. After everything my main takeaway is to make sure your roof is in really good shape before installing solar. read more

Clearly they made a mistake when installing and have not sized the circuit breaker correctly, but they seem unwilling or unable to send out a tech willing to address the issue at its root. Disappointing. While waiting for them to schedule a service call (have not heard from them in 4 business days--not even a check in when I reach out) I'll lodge a complaint with BBB, and maybe look into small claims court, as I may have to find a more knowledgeable tech to fix their error. read more

Solar Energy World installed panels on my roof. I had also wanted panels on my detached garage. The main roof was done in 2025. That worked well. When I had solar panels installed on my detached garage, I expected to have one account. Instead it is 2 accounts and I am not getting a full summary. In effect the main roof is no longer included in the full report. In trying to get this fixed, the sales man, David Bishins, kept insisting the system was reporting fully. I can do the math and see it isn't. They pawned me off on Enphase. They said trenching would be required. When I explained it to Mr Bishins, he became angry and started talking over me. Worst experience I've ever had -- They stole our deposit, did zero work, and now refuse to answer my calls or emails. We signed a contract in mid-August 2025 and paid a $5,700 deposit in exchange for a guarantee that work would be substantially completed within 90 days. It is now January and no work as been done, and every effort at contact goes unanswered. It's a giant scam to steal your money. Sales Rep. Brian Spinazzola made a lot of big promises when he came into our home to discuss the project, but from the minute we signed the contract he figured he had his commission and stopped being responsive. I am updating my review from 1 star to 3 stars for now. My solar panels still have not been fixed, but the service crew did finally come out in a week ago. Unfortunately with the unusual snow and ice we have had, they really have not been able to do anything to fix the panels so my panels are still not producing. However I know it is impossible now with the snowfall, for anyone to fix anything until the snow melts from the panels, so this is not the fault of SEW. I will wait to see how it is resolved before finally settling with a final review. Having said that, the technician who did come out was extremely knowledgable and very experienced, and extremely polite. And I want to say again that my original sales person Andy Grygier remains the most helpful and accessible person, and even returned my call in the middle of his vacation. For this alone he deserves 5 stars, but I am reviewing for the company as a whole. read more

The solar panels were installed right after a major ice storm - so they had to chisel the ice off my roof tiles. They could have waited a week until the ice was not there, but they didn't. Lots of debris from their installation was left around the property and on roof surfaces I don't have access to. They broke the lamp pull in the attic that lights up the attic when you walk up the stairs. They didn't mention that and didn't fix it. They did tear the bbq cover with all the ice being chiseled off the roof, but they mentioned that. Also, they never called in advance for arrival times. read more

Real-world person and Customer in Maryland. I've had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Solar Energy World. From start to finish, the process has been filled with mistakes and poor communication. My system design was initially based on the wrong jurisdiction, which led to a lengthy back-and-forth of emails, six in total, before someone finally got it right. Even then, they failed to pay for the permit after submitting it incorrectly several times. Emails and text messages often went unanswered, and there were no follow-ups from supervisors even after the permit issues were brought to their attention. On installation day, both MOSH and OSHA showed up and issued fines to the company for safety violations. A few days later, they returned to my property again and informed me that Solar Energy World was not returning their calls and that an investigation was underway regarding their installers' safety practices. That alone was deeply concerning. After installation, the problems continued from missing paperwork, repeated errors, and no access to the monitoring equipment I paid for. The panels weren't even loaded into the system, so I still can't see my production data. It's been a complete waste of time and energy for my family. The only positive part of this entire experience was working with the finance company, Dividend. Their sales reps were helpful, responsive, and professional, everything Solar Energy World was not. We had solar installed in our home in Maryland by Solar Energy World, and the experience was outstanding -- mainly because of our representative, Austin Altman. From the beginning, Austin was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Solar can be overwhelming if you're new to it (financing, system design, timelines, installation steps, etc.), but Austin took the time to walk us through the entire process and answer all our questions thoroughly. One of the biggest reasons I'd recommend him is that he helped us compare leasing vs. purchasing in a way that was clear and practical -- not salesy. He really listened to what we wanted and what made sense financially for us. That level of honesty and service is rare. Even after the sale process, Austin continued to be supportive and responsive. Overall we're very happy with our decision and grateful for the customer service we received. Highly recommend Solar Energy World -- and definitely ask for Austin Altman if you can. read more

I'm a three time customer. I had panels installed in 2020, 2022, and now again in 2025. I have gone from thinking that these guys are great (5 stars both times prior) to absolutely hating them. Yelp says 1 star is "Not good" and Solar Energy World is now much worse than "not good." They are now demonstrably bad at crossing the t's and dotting the i's that are so important to the customer experience. The commendable levels of communication, coordination, professionalism, and pride in their work that I saw in years past are now gone. And that is through nearly every step of the process and nearly every level of the organization that I interacted with. I can't emphasize this enough: no one really seems to be in charge. No one really seems to be accountable for anything. And if any of them really care it isn't enough to make much of a difference. To their credit: things are like 98% done. My panels are working. The vast majority of the work is done. But it has been harder and more drawn out than it should have been. And the last 2% turning out to be a real pain. Numerous times they dropped the ball on things: Changes to the plan that didn't get communicated. Billing problems. Workmanship problems. Scheduling problems. Inspection failures. Customer service problems. At least a dozen times - and probably more like two dozen - I was left muttering to myself WHAT THE F*CK?! There was a lot of finger pointing. It was really off-putting and frankly counterproductive. There is nominally a project coordinator but I legitimately cannot tell what that person does. Failed inspection? The project coordinator didn't know about it. But don't worry someone else already added me to "the re-inspection queue." No one has talked to you about drywall repair? Somebody else forgot to put you in "the drywall queue." So let me repeat that: I legitimately cannot tell what the project coordinator does. So many times I really just needed someone to 1) coordinate the project and to push the ball forward, and 2) communicate expectations for the next several steps. It happened some. But so many times it just didn't happen. And, 3) as the mistakes and delays piled up, someone in charge needed to recognize the problem, plan for fixing the mistakes, prevent further mistakes and issues, and get the project back on track instead of just dumping me in the next queue. Now, in January '26, everything should have been done months ago, but many loose ends remain and I am the de facto project coordinator. I am the one trying to drive this thing to completion. It looks like I will be well served to hire at least one contractor on my own to get this done in a reasonable timeline. And, at the end of the day, I'm going to end up letting them off the hook for some of their shoddy work because trying to get them to do it right is just going to be too much of a pain. I have been hesitant to write a review because I believe there is a very strong chance that instead of trying to improve the situation, they will respond so as to try and further shirk their responsibilities. Rather than install solar panels on my entire roof Solar Energy World reps explained that it was not cost efficient to put solar panels on the North side of my roof, saving my lots of money. I have had solar panels from Solar Energy World for 10 years now and I rarely pay more than $10 per month for electricity. I run the air conditioner all summer and pay almost nothing. I pay $80 per month to lease the solar panel system. read more

Installation and service has been excellent until now. I'm a 37 yr NASA scientist veteran in Earth Science, so solar is a fun hobby for me, and I continue to the study the tech, physics, and commercial future of solar. I had a 9.2 kWhr system installed in 2016 and we purchased the highest warranty offered. 25 yrs across the board for anything, barring a weather or human event that damages part of the system. I have had 3 panels decay due to faulty diodes or micro-inverter circuitry on the back of these over the years, where they replaced them with no questions asked. Now, I assume they are under new management, since they have since "nullified" their old warranty (not sure how that's legal) and now have a minimum charge of $125/hr and 1 hr minimum to diagnose any issue. This means even if it's a dead panel, (which I have now) it's not financially worth swapping the panel as it would be another 5+ yrs to make up the cost of the visit even for a defective panel. I was a fan of SEW until now. So, I am NOT recommending SEW as an option for solar supplier. Very disappointing. read more

I had a good experience with Solar Energy World. The product is great and my electric bill has been reduced. The installation was good too. Very professional. The only complaint I had was a lack of communication on the requirements for the State of Maryland rebate. The salesman made it a point to emphasize that the solar panels may seem expensive, but we would get a 30% Federal Tax credit and $7500 back from the state of Maryland to help offset the cost. Solar Energy World would file the forms with the State of Maryland on our behalf. We had our panels installed in June 2025. We waited for our $7500 check from the state and after four months I called Solar Energy World. They have a person who handles these rebates. She informed me that I had paid for the panels after the due date (Oct 19). We made our final payment October 28. Nowhere in our contract was it stated there was a deadline of Oct 19 for the Maryland rebate nor was this communicated to us. This was big selling point with our sales representative and would have reduced the cost of the product and installation by $7500. If the company is going to handle these rebates on our behalf, they should inform us of such deadlines. The only reason I found out that we would not be getting the rebate is because I called them about it. read more

SEW installed a solar (Mission panels) and battery (FranklinWH) system for my home in 2025. Their sales representative Andy Grygier has been fantastic to work with. He is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions clearly and thoroughly. As the installation and activation process went forward, he followed up repeatedly to make sure I was getting good service. For example, there was a miscommunication between SEW and our local utility, PEPCO, about access to the meter, and Andy got it straightened out quickly. He is straightforward and doesn't over-promise or obfuscate. He is responsive, patient, and an excellent listener. I really can't imagine a better representative for solar. I have already recommended him and SEW to a number of my neighbors who are considering solar. read more

Before install, I definitely felt they were very pushy and changed what I was told initially two to three times which was really frustrating because I thought I understood everything and then they would alter something, and I can't say all of it was truly justified. They are also located in Maryland and take Virginia residents yet complain about the traffic and the drive. The scheduler complained, the employees complained, everyone seems to complain about it and I don't understand why you would have a company everyone based in one spot but accept customers elsewhere and complain to the customer about the travel. That is not my fault and not my concern... I should not be bearing the burden of feeling guilty about it but they lay it in thick. Days before install I asked over email all what they needed access to so I could ensure everything was easy as my house is older and things like the utility room are cramped as I use them for storage. I was told just the attic, the roof, and the hot water heater. I cleaned out the entire area around the hot water heater and moved it into a nearby room trusting that there was no reason they needed to have access to the water shut off since they mentioned nothing of it. WithOUT my permission, they opened that room door, moved a bunch of stuff, broke things!!, and closed the door before they left without ever telling me that they went in there. When I went to move everything back and found out, I contacted them and was ignored.  A bit after install, I noticed there was a bunch of leaves building up in their critter guard. I contacted them and they sent a person out who confirmed that it was improperly installed. They tried to fix it the best they could and said if I have any further problems to let them know. Months go by and it's building up again so I contact again, this time I am told that I will be charged a service fee if it is not their fault. I said I can't afford the service fee and they need to come fix it, it's been silenced since then and the requests for reviewing them that were sent at LEAST every 3 weeks also stopped. Hopefully this doesn't ruin my new roof!!  I'm supposed to have guaranteed maintenance on this system and I'm being ignored so there's no way in good faith I'd recommend this company. I've had solar panels with Solar Energy World for about 9 years now. The workers and the folks on the phone are exceptionally nice and I have no need to feel as if they themselves aren't competent, but the operations management is really bad and communication is horrible. The coordination of installation was poor and then late last year I had to get my roof replaced. My request to get the panels down took months and then the roof was replaced over 2 days in February. It is now almost July and I have no functioning solar panels. This would be at a final cost of over $5000 to re place them. I get essentially no communication unless I call or email and get stern or obnoxious. The workers came to start the replacement and then simply left mid job. No call no show. I would never get solar panels with this company ever due to the long term need to interact with clarity. read more

Beware of hiring Solar Energy World I hope this helps someone else avoid the problems that we have been facing with this company. Initially we thought what is the catch, this is too good to be true... well it is. Our panels were incorrectly installed leaving holes in our roofing which led to water pooling in our front porch ceiling and running down the face of our house. We ended up with warped front porch flooring along with mold and water damage in our finished basement. After almost 4 months of us having to follow up weekly and them coming out to correct their improper installation they are now saying that they are not liable for any of the damages to our home. The manager told me that because we moved forward with the mold remediation that they aren't liable. How can a company expect people to live in a home with mold for 4 months while they "review" the situation. The manager then slipped up and admitted that they never reviewed the photos or invoice that I sent over, they just decided in a brief discussion that they werent liable for the damages. When I asked to please speak to the manager that made the decision I was told that he is a difficult man to get a hold of so that won't be possible. I am just shocked and disappointed in this company. We have been so patient and understanding during this whole process to have them treat us like this. Really bad service. I bought a system in October 2024. 24 of the 40 panels have produced nothing since May 2. They have no staff. The guy came out on July 2 and said maybe it's a fuse. I don't know. I've never dealt with a more professional, more honest or a friendlier salesman as I recently did with Andy Grygier when I decided to go solar for my electricity needs through Solar Energy World. Right off the bat, Andy explained how the system would work, he went into details about the choices available to me for both install and for financing, and let me know play-by-play as to what steps this process (of switching over) would entail. He was also there and extremely quick in responding to any questions that I had. Not only did Andy present everything in a very easy-to-understand way, but he also broke down my options for me, such as why it made sense to get a 'critter guard' installed or whether I wanted the solar panel groupings to have side skirts, which although not recommended due to potentially impeding airflow, does make the aesthetics look much nicer. All in all, I had one of the smoothest experiences ever and I highly recommend Andy to anyone who's thinking about switching over to solar for their energy needs. The solar panel installers were just as professional and friendly. Whether it was Kobie and the install crew or Cody who ran the conduits/cables in my attic (I opted for the option to have conduits go through my attic vs. being installed on top of the roof, a much cleaner look) and prepped the system connection, these representatives of Solar Energy World showed a lot of class and sincere care for the customer, always being super polite. In fact, my wife and I enjoyed their company so much that we decided to treat the crews to pizza for lunch, for which they were very appreciative. All in all, this was one of the best experiences we've ever had with such a large purchase such as this. The entire process was very smooth and enjoyable. My apologies on the length of this, but it is for one's best interest when it comes to investment in solar: First of all, I'm taking my time in writing this review and taking my time in actually submitting it, as I wanted to make sure that every box was checked before providing incomplete information regarding the quality of this company. I actually met Eric Winkler during the pandemic in 2020 and he convinced me after a thorough inspection and lengthy questionnaire that my desire to lease a system would not be a good fit for our home. Fast forward a year and a half and I reached out to eight companies in all and when it came to Solar Energy World, was immediately linked back to Eric Winkler. When he arrived at our house, I was reminded quickly of our previous meeting and immediately put at ease, as he made the process of exploring the option of purchasing an incredibly informed and smooth one. At no time Where we rushed into a decision and at no time that we feel the pressure of a salesman trying to make a commission, unlike every one of the other seven sales people who continue to hassle us even after we made a commitment with Solar Energy World. Our review breakdown: 1. The company is hands-down our best investment other than our home: The sales people are phenomenal in their knowledge and their expertise and their ability to inform the customer. Even our roofing company, Chesapeake Roofing, suggested that if we were going to get Solar this is a company to work with and it would not impact our warranty on our 2018 roof installation. In fact, they told us very simply that it would enhance our roof protection. 2. The pre-installing steps taken where exactly watch the sales people informed us what happened. There's professionals who came out to inspect the site and inform us of what steps would be next were undeniably on time and precise. 3. The installers took two days because our system involves 40 panels on two different sets of roofs(we installed 10 pounds on our shed roof). 4. The customer service at the home office in Laurel/Elkridge leaves no stones unturned and leaves no expectations unfulfilled. Superb staff. 5. The system itself: we have had absolutely a blast watching as rain or shine, this system has produced 10 MW of power in seven months exactly. The Enlighten software App works so well that it enhances our ability to know our habits of power usage and curve them to conserve energy and save money. 6. We were told that we would be paid for SREC's ($57 for each MW produced) and once our system was up and running and approved by the state. That has certainly been the case, and we chose to go with a different company then was initially suggested by Solar Energy World. The company we chose to set up a contract with is SRECTrade. We could not be happier with them. We received our first check after four months and have been receiving monthly checks for production. We were fortunate to have a system installed that produces more energy than we utilize. We cannot speak for everyone, but we can speak directly to the system that was installed on our house. We love it, and despite the initial investment being somewhat scary, The fact that we did not have to spend an extra $10-$12,000 for a battery since our 3600 kW of surplus energy we have in the first seven months will carry us through the winter and then some. I would be very happy to become a spokesman for this company as I teach engineering in a high school of science and tech students and several family members have chosen to go our path as well and are quite happy. We do love the system and the savings. It will more than pay off itself within 7 years. It pays to do your research and we were certainly rewarded. read more

Having our own power plant on our roof seemed like a great idea but the communication and service from Solar Energy World have been atrocious. The installers spilled an adhesive on our front walk and then stepped in it and left footprints but didn't mention it to us. It looked like someone had bled to death on our front walkway but they just walked away from the job. It took multiple weeks of emails and complaints to get someone to finally come clean the walkway. The initial installation was wired incorrectly such that half the panels wouldn't produce energy. When they came back to fix the wiring they damaged the roof and we found mold growing in the ceiling of an upstairs bathroom. When we brought this to their attention they first tried to convince us it was an indoor issue rather than roof damage, then they ghosted us. We theoretically have an account manager to raise these issues to but that person does not reach out proactively and does not respond unless we copy every person we've ever spoken with. Had a system installed in 2014. No problems on the install and Solar Energy World worked all of the permits. Over the decade I had one problem with the system caused by BG&E power being way over voltage. Solar Energy World worked the repair under warranty with no cost to me. The crew was on time, my panel installation (24panels, 8.7KWH) was flawless, and they explained it to me as they went. I added solar batteries, and their god of all solar battery knowledge and electrical expertise, Matt Finke, did it all from start to finish. He is without a doubt, the most professional and technically knowledgable solar battery installer on the planet, consumed by a desire to make it look organized, professional, and make it function flawlessly. He accomplished all those goals with ease. BOTTOM LINE: this organization has the right people, with the right expertise and knowledge, and they work together to get the job done professionally for their clients. They are great at selling you a system but that's about it. They didn't file for my credits like they said they would and now I am out $2,000 because the credit expired. 5 months after the install. You will not hear back from your rep as soon as they are done the install. They did a great job installing. Left some wire and trash in my rock bed but that wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately there is no option for a zero star to provide. Attempting to work with Solar Energy World has been an enormous let down. Ms. Katherine Cardea was pleasant on the phone on March 8, scheduled and appointment for a sales person to be with us on March 13. Wilfred Archampong Jr. was one hour late, was hurried in his presentation, stated that he will email us the detailed paperwork later that night, in the meanwhile we should not sign any documents we receive by email until he returns from his trip to Zimbabwe in two weeks so he can go over the details with us by phone. Needless to say we never received any paperwork from him. A site assessment was scheduled for March 22 by Emily Connell. Unfortunately, I do not remember the assessor's name. He was prompt, professional and pleasant. A month later and it has been absolute radio silence from Solar Energy World. I called last week, Ms. Katherine Cardea was not available, the person who took all the information from me assured me that she will reach out to Wilfred and call me back promptly. A week later, and true to form I have not received any calls from her or from Wilfred. I am not sure if it is the arrogance of success that is at play here. Whatever the cause for their incompetence might be it is the end of the road for my dealings with this company. If you expect professional interactions with your solar installer, this is the wrong company to deal with. read more

What do you say about a company that signs a contract with you... Everything is in the works... Then they call you two weeks later to tell you that their engineers have reviewed my home... I will generate more than enough electricity with two less solar panels then originally determined, And THEY reduce my price???
