We were scheduled for a Saturday, but had to call the Friday before to find out what time. We were informed that it would be around 1-3 PM because the crew wants to do another job before ours. We didn't like that, but there was nothing we could do. We were told the crew would call us an hour before they arrive. We eventually got a call and were told they can't come and want to reschedule for Monday. That's not an option because we do not currently live at the residence and we work during the week. This is why we scheduled a Saturday and we even left the entire day open for them because they didn't know when exactly they would be coming. Then some sketchy guy with an unlisted number called us and said he was referred to us by John (no idea who that is). He said to reschedule the job with Barrys and this guy named Kevin would come and do the job for much cheaper today. He said definitely don't cancel the appointment - just reschedule. It was super weird, but we were desperate. In the end, no one showed up. Still don't know who Kevin or John are, but considering we only contacted one company about the floors, we are guessing someone from Barrys contacted them. This is just a terrible way to run a business.

We need what type of carpet but the color was 100 percent wrong choice for stairs. They come to do the job and literally, I think my niece in preK could do a better job. I recently (10/23) was in the market for quartz countertops for my new kitchen. My GC recommended a…read moresource from which I received an estimate that I thought was high. As a check on that first estimate I went to a source that I knew would likely be the "high end" and likely even more expensive. I was right as they were 10% higher. So I initiated an on-line search and found Gran Marb which apparently had many 5-star Yelp ratings. Shortly thereafter I visited their facility and spoke with Christina. While we were going over my sketches her husband Giovanni, who apparently handles the technical end of things, came to ask Christina something and joined the conversation. A very comfortable discussion led to a third estimate which was 10% less expensive than my GC's recommended source and 20% less expensive than my second "high end" number. In spite of the less expensive number it appeared to me that their process was every bit equal to the other two sources I had solicited. So we arranged for Frank their official measurer to come to my home ASAP. Frank arrived right on schedule, did his "thing", took my deposit check and was gone. A week or so later I was in the area and stopped by Gran Marb to check on progress. They had received my chosen slabs the previous day and, with me having to be away the following week, scheduled the installation for the day after me return. Installation was again per schedule and uneventful. The countertops are beautiful and fit perfectly. The three-man installation crew were efficient and delightful to deal with. I wholeheartedly recommend Gran Marb. From what I saw of their facility, especially the slab pre-fab holding area, it is not a small company but has a small family-friendly company feel and offers every service of the other two suppliers who provided estimates. The one recommendation I would make is to decide on what quartz you want before visiting as their showroom isn't huge and fancy. While they do have some samples, knowing what you want before- hand just makes the process so much smoother. Thank you Christina and Giovanni for a job well done.

I own a small condo unit which I've rented to tenants for a number of years…read more Last week I got a call late in the evening on a brutally cold night. It was my tenant with every landlord's nightmare scenario. The unit above mine had a water line break causing ceilings to collapse and carpeting to be trashed. The bill from Servpro alone was over $4000.00, and that was only the beginning. Faced with having to fix everything fast and right I called on some friends who connected me with Model Carpet. My first shot was Home Depot but they were, at best, a 72 hour wait for less than satisfactory carpet. Keep in mind that I've also got a tenant with no place to live! I called Model on Monday at about 2:00 PM. The owner was EXTREMELY helpful and very sympathetic to my emergency. He had a worker there to measure my unit about three hours later, made great suggestion about my needs, and by Thursday at about noon my unit had a brand new beautiful berber carpet installed allowing the ceiling work to proceed. With this kind of service I can see why this operation has stayed alive and competes more than well with the "big box" guys. Additionally, the price was right. In a nutshell, fantastic service from first call to completion. Speak to Joe.
