Brought my son here to try these breakfast tacos. I'm happy that he enjoyed them. This is much closer than driving to Washington Ave. I love that sunrise has hot tamales on weekends!!!! This is a friendly authentic Mexican restaurant!!! We will be back

I ordered the Flauta plate. And they were big in length. But not good at all. I broke it in half and found meat that did not look appetizing. I was on my lunch break and didn't have time to return.

MrM tried this place first, as we're are true taquito fans! Small shop, clean and well lit. Everyone is very friendly. Food is always fresh and delicious. MrM likes the chorizo, egg and cheese (Who doesn't?) Don't be fooled by the name, these taquitos are the size of small burritos. I have enjoyed the carne asada plate several times. Comes with rice, beans, homemade tortillas and a small salad. Be sure to come early or it may be gone!

After having heard this location had just opened up, I knew a lazy Sunday morning was a perfect day to swing by and try this place. Inside, it seems a little unfinished at this time. There are some wall mounts behind the register that don't have anything on them (yet) but I'll let it slide since the place is so new. If you take a look at the menu photos I've included, tell me if I'm jaded or if I'm just not used to everything being so expensive - I felt $11 was a little steep for two plain breakfast tacos and a water bottle. I ordered one item from the breakfast menu and one item from the lunch menu - the Chorizo & Egg, and the Picadillo tacos. Both of these tacos were very well-seasoned and very nearly addictively so. The tortillas seem homemade and are soft and pillowy. My food was made to order and fresh. Unfortunately, my bag was soaked from grease and moisture from the five or so minute drive home. Did this stop me from horking down these tacos like breathing air? Nope! I even forgot I got salsa with my order. Trying them on their own, I'd say the red salsa is a little loose, milder than the green salsa, which could pack a punch for those sensitive to spice, but still good. Just not super flavorful. The guy who took my order was nice and helpful. I was staring up at the menu hanging from the ceiling and he handed me a to-go menu to consult instead, which was sweet. He also told me you can actually call ahead to place your order for easy, breezy, beautiful pickup. All told, I'd like my breakfast tacos to have a little bit more going for themselves at this price. The Picadillo, while good, felt untraditional. I had one tiny piece of potato and nothing else besides beef, though I won't complain for the restaurant not filling the taco out with cheap ingredients. When it comes to the chorizo and egg, that is exactly what it is. Though, for both, I'd consider grease as a bonus ingredient. I'd ask for maybe some diced onion and cilantro, grilled onions, cheese, or potato to be added, but I'm not about to pay upwards of $5 for one breakfast taco. If you're a single person, why not. But if you're trying to feed your family? Best go to Kroger and just make it yourself.

    Migas taco
    Michelle O.

The migas taco is made to order and took about 20 minutes because it was busy. The flour tortilla was hot and pliable, and the filling was a big omelet log filled with chopped onions, chopped bell peppers, chopped tortilla chips and chopped tomatoes. It's tasty but needed a little black pepper or salt to be good alone because there are so many vegetables. There are spicy red and green salsas to add another layer of flavor.

    Eggs ala Mexicana

I love the breakfast tacos Eggs ala Mexicana! Everyone is always very nice. I haven't tried anything else yet but what I've seen looks really good! I'll be back!

I came across this restaurant Sunday morning. I ordered two Bacon & Egg tacos with cheese. One taco was under $4. So very reasonably priced. I ordered it to go and it was ready pretty quickly. The tacos tasted great. Especially with the added salsa verde.

It's a bit over priced and not that good. No way you can mess up cooking eggs. Better off going to Mex Taco House.

Thankfully, Mark was there and initially was told a 35 minute wait but seemed intent by quicker. Ambiance: 4/5 It was breakfast time so of course it was a busy time. For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

What I eventually found both surprised and delighted me, and Nate's gets a thumbs up overall. Pictures are deceiving as I thought the place would be larger but it's a tight fit for bigger groups. There are only a handful of tables but plenty of character. It's also a bit grimey, unsightly and even a tinge dodgey, which may be a deal breaker for others but is an immediate appeal to me. Two things immediately standout when it comes to the food: the portions and the prices are outstanding. The offerings are as no frills as the rest of the establishment. The other surprise was how much influence there was from Mexican cuisine. Hash browns were the goal, but chorizo and chilaquiles were the bonus. Another surprise? The hash browns weren't as crispy as I would have wanted. It's entirely plausible that I came on an off day, which happens. However everything else was on point as my chorizo skillet was absolutely dynamite, pancakes were fluffy and indulgent, breakfast tacos were outstanding, and my eggs were perfectly softly scrambled. Even the bacon and sausage patties were delicious, which is a tall order considering it's not likely made in house. Lastly, as someone who drinks cold water like it's a hobby (#1), I'm especially grateful for the massive 32 oz cup of water, which is perfect for someone who drinks like a camel. The staff is not the quickest but they are friendly. Spanish may go further with most and they're not the quickest when it comes to greeting folks or cleaning tables. The food is the star and consider paying in cash. ____________ (#1) I'm thirsty.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register. I was catching up with my sister, we were there about 5 hours and the restaurant was empty. A mature-aged Asian woman came in, spotted the restroom door, and proceeded to it. The manager/owner (older man with balding hair) RAPIDLY went from the other side of the restaurant to intercept the woman right at the restroom entrance. He asked her what she needed, she told him to use the restroom, he then asked if she needed a table. When she replied "no", he stated that restrooms are for paying customers only. She was embarrassed, froze, said "Okay", and walked towards the exit. The guy saw my sister and I watching this unfold with screwfaces, so he tells the woman at the exit "Well go ahead and use it, you're already in here, I guess". While she was in the restroom he made a sign about their restroom stance and was taping it to the front door as the woman was exiting the building. We left immediately also. A business has the right to have such a ridiculous regulation, but this woman was dressed clean and came from a Lexus SUV. She wasn't homeless or some street prostitute that might be reckless in a public restroom. The idiot guy was petty, rude, inconsiderate, cold, and careless. I refuse to spend money at an establishment run by such a person.

Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
