We ran into a rough patch with our son at the end of 1st and beginning of 2nd grade with staying on task and completing work which was frustrating, but in working with Mrs. Salvatori (Principal) and Ms. Vernetta (Preschool Director/HR) we were able to work together to place him in a class with a teacher he absolutely adores (Mrs. Schaller, who he thankfully has again for 3rd) and he once again loves learning. Our daughter started kindergarten this year with Mrs. Haschke which has also been phenomenal! One other thing I need to add, especially after reading through some of the other reviews is that it's not just us (my husband and I) that love the Self Development family - our kids do as well. When the pandemic was at it's peak in sprint/summer of 2020, we kept the kids home for 6 weeks and every single morning they would get up and beg to go back and play with their friends because they missed them and the staff. It's not uncommon for our daughter to run to give the staff hugs or share her accomplishments in learning with them - and they help celebrate it! Seeing the smiles on our kids faces when we pick up/drop off each day reinforces our choice to trust Self Development Preschool/Academy with our little learners.

I expected the teacher to have the skills to talk to him, calm him down, and give him extra attention. However, that did not happen. In fact, the opposite happened--she pulled him by his hand while he was crying and dragged him on the floor instead of comforting him or handling the situation gently. I was very upset and mentioned this as feedback, hoping it would not happen again. The second day, I also noticed additional concerns. It seems they don't know how to properly comfort or settle a child for sleep. When he asks for something, they don't respond--they turn away and walk away from him. He is left crying for long periods without anyone checking on him or trying to understand what he needs. There appears to be no real engagement, teaching, or structured activities. I do not see any educational interaction. It seems limited to feeding, diaper changes, and giving him an iPad. I am personally trying to reduce his screen time, but they continue to rely on the iPad. Last day, another serious situation happened. In the morning, I checked the live camera and saw my child wearing his backpack with the strap still fastened. He was trying to remove it, pulling one arm out while the backpack was still hanging on him. He was following the teacher, trying to get her attention for help, but she did not look at him, did not notice him, and did not respond. I was concerned for his safety, so I called the daycare immediately and asked them to check on him, as he could have been hurt or choked by the strap. After the receptionist contacted the teacher, she finally removed the backpack. At that point, I was very upset and decided to pick him up and leave. What made the situation even more concerning was being told, 'There are a lot of children, it's not my problem.' This response is completely unacceptable. It is not my responsibility to manage staffing or workload. My concern is my child's safety, care, and emotional well-being. Overall, I am very disappointed with the level of care, attention, and professionalism. I called the day care asking what the teacher was doing to him, but didn't received any response. I asked them to answer my kids and be kind to him cause he is new to the school. Third day was the last day to my kids since we didn't see any changes. So we canceled this place. This place has no activity for this age and has no good communication with kids. I saw 2 kids almost start to fight each other and no one pay attention to them. These teachers knew that's parents watching and they don't care. They are unprofessional and they can't take are off toddlers. I would not recommend this place to any body. I don't understand how other people still trusting this place to each after their kid's.

We have had two scares involving our child and there was absolutely no evidence other than second and third-hand stories, what we could piece together from our child's limited vocabulary, and scratches on their skin. I've also gone in to pick up our child, to find a completely new caregiver I had never seen before taking care of the kids. In 2024 there is no reason that parents should not be able to check in on their kids virtually whenever they want to. We get a few pictures of our kid a day through the app, and we are missing thousands of little moments in their development. Enough is enough. Give parents peace of mind and the sense that we are a part of our children's day, even if we can't be there in person.

They are accomodating to parental requests - such as if you would like to substitute meals, or provide specific snacks. For example, we prefer that our son doesn't consume too much sugar (he's got enough energy as is...!), so we requested that when juice is served that it is watered down 50/50, and they have been very accomodating. He has some food sensitivities and they have substituted snacks when necessary. We enjoy having the updates on the app - we get a few photos a day of what he's doing, along with notifications of any diaper changes, what he's eating and how much, and how long and when he naps! Once in a while we get videos as well and it's so lovely to get little updates through the day. Miss Serenity and Miss Katie have been so lovely, and he looks forward to seeing them and his classmates. The socialization has been great for him. We have always had great interactions with the staff. We recommended Calvary Preschool to a friend, and they enrolled their baby and have been loving it too!

I know that when my boys are at Tiny Tots, they are safe, cared for and genuinely having fun. They use the ProCare app to help communicate and also for billing, which is very convenient. My youngest son (2) goes here 3 full days a week, and we do drop-in care for our other son (5). I get updates throughout the day, and sometimes pictures, which definitely make me happy :) The center is safe, clean and affordable, the food is nutritious (and yummy!), plus the hours are convenient and they have been flexible with me on days when my shifts change or school gets out early. The biggest thing I love is seeing the growth in my tot - at only 2 he is already making friends, counting, starting to recognize words, shapes, letters, numbers and colors. Also, his teachers will always answer any questions I have about his progress - it's awesome! My oldest is on the autism spectrum and it was hard to find a place where I felt he was understood, accepted and supported. The teachers here are so kind and make it really fun for him.
