This is from the preschool on Gilbert and Hampton. Their solution to a child acting out is to remove him from the school. Their response to a two-year-old opening a door--while under the supervision of four teachers--is to send him home. Do children not have conflicts with one another? Since when is the correct answer to disenroll a child simply because he requires more attention? This is a child who has already been through a great deal, coming from a broken home, and he is only two years old. At that age, occasional struggles with other children are completely normal. Instead of addressing those challenges, you choose to avoid them entirely. It is deeply concerning how little effort is being made to support and guide the children in your care. Your role is to nurture them, to teach them right from wrong, and to provide stability while their parents are working. That responsibility should not be optional. From my perspective, there is also a troubling level of favoritism within this daycare. A large number of staff members have their own children enrolled, and it raises serious questions about whether all children are being treated fairly and equally. I cannot recommend this facility to any parent. The lack of accountability, care, and professionalism is unacceptable--especially in an environment that is supposed to prioritize the well-being and development of young children. read more

We pulled our daughter from this preschool this past week, we put in our 2 week notice and after she started vomiting profusely the day after she fell and hit her head twice, and a long emergency room visit, we felt it was better to pay the final week and not come back. I want to be clear that there are good people here, workers who care, but having a few good eggs being run by a director who does not follow the company's standards or requirements is not worth the safety of your child. Sarah, Krystal, and Deja are the reason we stayed as long as we did, but things started going downhill rather quickly. Our daughter was moved up from infants to toddlers, a new room with new people When you get moved up, Sunrise states that your child can still bring breastmilk and still use a bottle until they transition to drinking from a cup. Within the first week of our daughter being moved up, another kid took her bottle of breast milk and drank it. One of the good workers informed us that the director, Amber, stated we can no longer bring breast milk for our daughter, which is against every policy we have ever read. When we pushed back, of course the director came back and stated it was a misunderstanding and of course we could. When asked if this was a miscommunication to the teacher or a misunderstanding she did not have a response. The parents of the child who drank the milk were not informed that their child ingested someone's bodily fluid. In this room our daughter was bit multiple times. We all understand that kids will fall, they will get scratches and scrapes, this is the joy of growing up. Under no circumstances does biting fall under the "joy of growing up". After the first one you expect a plan to be made with the parent of that child, and for it not to occur again, but that expectation was not met and it continued to occur. For weeks our daughter was not in the room she was supposed to be in, and we were informed that the room had mold and that is why they were putting those children with the older children. After speaking to multiple parents we found nobody was told about the mold, this was just swept under the rug and the kids put in different areas. Our child's safety is the most important thing to us, and if you are hiding this what else are you hiding? The director Amber is clearly feared and not respected by her workers. On multiple occasions my wife and others overheard workers stating they were afraid of her, afraid of bringing things up, and could not afford to lose this job. In our opinion they are understaffed for the amount of children they have registered. Multiple incidents of our daughters milk stolen, multiple incidents of them not giving our daughter things we brought because nobody informed the mid day worker it was there. Multiple incidents of our daughter being hurt when nobody was looking. The director Amber made it a point to avoid my wife every time she came in, even if she was waiting to talk to her she would continue what she was doing and try to avoid any conflict caused by her lack of leadership and care. We also found that none of the people taking care of our kids are teachers or certified, they are helpers. Some very good helpers I will say but to be running a daycare that has multiple facilities and not have any licensed teachers is shocking to me. To anyone reading this review, do not allow the price to suck you in, your kids' health and safety are not worth it. We have reported all of these incidents to the state and we hope that they follow through and make sure that anybody who brings their kids here can feel safe. To Amber and all the gossipy workers, your clique style behavior and utter lack of care for the kids and their parents is so incredibly obvious, we hope you find the help you need both in the school but also in your heart to remember childcare is CHILD first. Red flags cannot be ignored, please do not make the mistake we did and keep them there past that. read more

Let me tell you about work experience and the child experience at this school. As for the staff. I loved the kids I was able to work with my time there. It's like high school here, everyone gossips about one another and rumors fly so hard there and instead of talking it out like adults staff will make there own opinion and then that will define if you have a good work experience or a bad work experience. Bathroom breaks yah that's a joke we sometimes have to wait hours before someone comes and lets us on a break. Staff was told we shouldn't even be getting bathroom breaks only on ur break can you go which sometimes u get a break or sometimes you don't. There's times we have to hold it. One of the directors is so lazy she just wants to sit at her chair and do nothing. She waits hours to give you a bathroom break and that's if she likes you u can get it within 10 mins. She picks and chooses the staff that she prefers. She is so unprofessional she brings her home life drama to her work life and if she is in a mood that depends on how you are treated by her for the day. Wrong choice for a director. Staff in the evening have let kids go home soiled because they don't want to change a diaper or deal with it. One staff has slapped several kids. Another staffer has physically assaulted kids and they did not tell the parents nor consequences for that teacher happened she was still able to work with the kids. The parents trust us to care for them but they get screamed at constantly. Being sick is not ok for this place we are on deathbeds and have to come to work. Kids sick oh well come to work. Got threatened our jobs if we don't come in. No wonder why the kids are always sick. Now as for the kids they let very aggressive kids here and they beat up the staff and other kids and nothing happens until they do it one to many times. Staff have thrown kids out of there classes due to bad behavior and we are told to suck it up but yet they aren't being abused or hit. My son said bullying happens a lot with school age kids and nothing happens. Not a safe place for kids or adults it's takes a toll on you mentally and I'm not even talking about the kids it's the staff you should not make a person feel horrible or treat them horrible. Sunrise lives off of fees. This spot is a little ghetto. Ms Jen is the teacher that is probably the only good thing for the kids. On top of that they charge late fees when it's their fault their machine isn't working every time I try to pay. I'm a customer who pays two weeks in advance every other week and when I go to pay before work on a Monday their system is constantly down. Then when I go to pick up nobody's at the desk for me to pay. Then I get charged a late fee. Kind of crazy to me since it was your fault you couldn't take my payment. PLUS I was always paying with my debit card every 2 weeks being charged a $3 processing fee because THEY couldn't figure out my online account. So again CRAZY when it's your fault I'm being charged all these fees. Anyway the director is nice, ms Jen is a good teacher but outside of that the curriculum, the aides, and the way the kids run the rooms makes everything else a little questionable. As a mother who loves her child move than anything. I would not bring her back even though she misses her teacher. read more

BEWARE!!!! My child has been in daycare since 6 weeks old at sunrise preschool's I have never experienced such a bad experience with them up until he started going to this facility. My son has been scratched to the face 3 times badly and I was not phoned not ONE TIME there was no report the last time he got scratched. The staff is changing all the time. They have a nice little old lady that can't keep up with 2 year old's. Cassandra Norman is the director here and she can't handle parents standing up for their children. She rather dismiss you instead of helping make things better. I would not waste my time, money nor energy here RUN!!!!. As a previous employee I will say this school was a mess. Anytime a child was injured or ended up with an accident the front staff never told the parents the truth, that it was caused from other children who showed dangerous behavior. They would always down play it and say the child slipped or bumped a table. When it came to the classrooms us teachers were always over ratio and they did not care to send someone in to help or step in themselves, to make sure that the children were safe. When it was time to help redirect a child, instead of positive redirecting they would just send the child home and suspend them even if they paid for the week tuition. They even had people who were not qualified to drive the bus, pick up the children from school. This school is a horror show and I recommend you don't send your children here. They do not care about the children or the safety, it's all just a show because all they care about is getting money. I really enjoyed the families I met and the children I worked with and im sad that they are being taken advantage of by this company. Please do not enroll your children here, the front office staff is complete two faced. They are also short staff and staff that is there doesn't have patience for the kids and would rather send them home than deal with them which hinders the parents from working. There are always new faces who misplace the children's belongings because they don't know each child like a set teacher would. It's sad that there is no structure or stability for those children. read more

My just turned 2 year old daughter attended this preschool for one month which was one month too long. One day during her first week there, I picked her up and she had a black eye. I asked her teacher and she said she thought it was there when she arrived which it was not. A different teacher was in the classroom that morning when I dropped her off and my child did not have a black eye when I dropped her off to the morning teacher. She then lightly stated there was another teacher that worked that morning and she would ask her about it tomorrow and then she dismissed the conversation. I asked the assistant director about the incident and whether she had heard anything about it and she said no but she would speak with the other teacher the next day and get back to us. Of course the other teacher also did not know what had happened so they had to review the tapes and asked for a day or two to do that. We were not permitted to view the tape to see the "incident." It was hand written on a nice little paper that somehow, while the teacher had briefly stepped out of the room, my daughter tripped over a pillow and hit her face on a bookshelf. And somehow, when the teacher came back into the room from only "briefly" stepping out, no one noticed the crying two year old who had just hit her face hard enough on a bookshelf to cause a black eye. I have little faith that we were told the truth or the complete truth. No apology was ever given for the lack of communication, awareness, or lack of care provided for our daughter. I understand that accidents happen, but she is 2 years old which is much too young to be unattended, not to mention how long it took to get a straight story from the staff, and I do not have much faith in the validity of the story given to us. We stayed for a couple more weeks until we could find alternative arrangements. Our daughter cried every single morning when I dropped her off and was crying almost daily when we arrived to pick her up. She has now been at a different preschool (NOT Sunrise) for six months and absolutely loves it, has not cried a single day at drop off or pick up, and asks to go to school because she loves it. I absolutely would not trust this preschool and most certainly not the two year old classroom. **In response to Julie, In retrospect, I wish I had gone to the corporate office in addition to my addressing it with the management at the location which I did, but at the time I had started a new job which was why my child was going to daycare, and my most pressing concern was the safety of my child, finding a new childcare arrangement immediately, and keeping my new job. Maybe the corporate office could have offered a more honest and thorough explanation for what happened but the corporate representatives are not the people taking care of my child on a daily basis. The truth of the matter is that I no longer trusted the staff to take care of my child and put her best interests first and I don't think anything done by corporate could have changed that but thank you for reaching out and attempting to follow up. read more

Front office staff is very friendly and make you feel welcomed. My girls only went for 2 weeks too long. My older one was excited but was afraid of the teacher come to learn. When picking them up I noticed I always caught the ladies sitting down not really talkative just say oh it went well. The email I got would not make sense and they always got the times wrong. I know my girls to well and know they don't eat everything. My older one would cry at nights saying to me mommy I don't wanna go to school I scared teacher. That was enough for me.
