TVs overhead running NESN, a chalkboard listing specials that include a meatball ricotta pizza and a fried green tomato BLT, and a room that goes from quiet to humming in the time it takes to finish dinner. Lauren and I ordered a ten-inch bar pie, pepperoni and meatball, and a chicken parm sandwich on the side with a pile of fresh-cut potato chips. It's what a bar pie should be. Cheese bronzed and even, that dark caramelized edge where it ran past the crust and met the hot pan, the sauce light, not heavy or oversweet, meatball torn into rough chunks, clearly homemade, its flavor strong enough to overpower the rest of the pie a little. Solid pie. The chicken parm sandwich held its own too, cutlet clearly hand-breaded and fresh, not some frozen thing dropped in a fryer, sauce richer and heavier than the pizza's, soaking into good bread without turning it to mush, and those chips tasted like someone actually fried them that day. But the pizza wasn't the thing I kept thinking about on the drive back. It was how fast our drinks got refilled, even as the place filled in around us. How someone checked on us without hovering, the way regulars get checked on, not the way tables get checked on. LJ's has the feel of a neighborhood watering hole where the staff knows half the room by name, except somehow you don't feel like the other half. You feel like you belong, on your first visit, before you've ever said your name. The place is named for the owners' six-year-old daughter, LunaJett, who we hear is a lead waitress on Sundays. Makes sense. It's the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like family before you've finished your first beer, whether you're six or sixty. Not a pilgrimage. But worth the drive to Woonsocket on a Thursday night, and worth going back again.

When you walk up to the door, the place seems small. Like a hole in the wall. Inside is anything but. Colorful murals, custom skateboard decks and modern art adorn the walls. Bright pops of color in between the TVs playing a variety of news and sports at the bar My friend and I were there for one thing: the 10" pub style pizza. I wasn't sure what style of pub/bar/tavern pie it would be but I was eager to find out. Our bartender was super friendly and quickly put in our order. We got two pizzas. One standard pepperoni and the other Chicken + Pickle. The pizzas came out ripping hot and smelling heavenly. The crust of these pies is more akin to a pan style pizza than what I would think of as a bar or tavern pie. It had that buttery crisp that reminds me of old school Pizza Hut (and I mean that complementary!). The sauce was a solid supporting character, the real star are the cheese and toppings here. It tastes and stretches like they use a blend of cheddar and mozzarella. The pepperoni was cooked to perfection. The cups pooling with oil and so crunchy. The chicken was quite tender and most on the other pizza, and the dill pickle taste was in full force, exactly as I was hoping! While I was hoping to find something like South Shore Bar Pie, what I did find was an awesome pub pan pizza in a spot that I've passed 100s of times. I'm glad I stopped in and I'll definitely be back. That pepperoni could not have been cooked any better

Prices are slightly lower than other places except the drinks and ringer pizza which were pretty expensive. I'd come here a lot more if they didn't close so early. 10pm is too early for a pizza place to close especially when competitors are open until 12am-3am.

Is this a pizza place, or a daycare?? We got there and ordered our food, planning to dine in, only to find a seriously loud and stupid child monopolizing half of the dining area (multiple tables), running around, screaming, tripping falling, etc. It definitely belonged to one of the employees in the back. Seriously keep that crap back there with YOU, customers do not want to deal with this!!! Or better yet, leave it at home in a cage. We will not be coming back if this is going to be the norm. Which sucks, because the food was really good! Needless to say, when our food was ready, we got out of there ASAP. read more

Just tried this place for the first time literally 10 minutes ago! One of my coworkers suggested this establishment to me. I got the honey bee wrap, cute name :) And some sweet potato fries... OH MY GAWD!!! Not only was the wrap the most perfect one I have EVER seen but it tasted absolutely amazing! Sweet potato fries are my weakness and they definitely hit my sweet tooth! This is my favorite place to order from especially late night. I don't know why no one thought to deliver ice cream a long time ago. Plus their food is phenomenal. People are already there looking for a place to eat. Walk down Atwells Avenue long enough and they'll eventually find your door. Smithfield asks something different. It's a different beast. Out here you're competing with strip malls, chain restaurants, and parking lots. Nobody accidentally ends up here. You have to give people a reason to hit the turn signal, pull in, and stay awhile. Jacob Kamborian wasn't interested in building just another pizza shop. So he built a room. Not a pizza shop with a couple of televisions bolted to the wall. A real room. The stage isn't tucked into a corner. It's the centerpiece. Microphones are already set. The drum kit is waiting. Across the room, a long wooden bar stretches almost the entire length of the space, wrapped in old wine and liquor crates that look like they were collected over years instead of ordered from a catalog. Guitars hang on the walls. Music posters fill the gaps. An American flag watches over the dining room. Warm lighting softens the reclaimed wood and the whole place feels comfortable the moment you walk in. It doesn't feel designed. It feels lived in. Come for pizza. Stay for the night. That's a big gamble. When you ask people to spend three hours in your restaurant instead of thirty minutes, the food has to back up that invitation. We ordered two very different pizzas: an 18-inch Brooklyn round, half pepperoni, and a personal Sicilian with extra sauce. The Sicilian got my attention immediately. Before I took a second bite, I flipped the slice over. The bottom told me everything I needed to know. Evenly browned. Crisp from edge to edge. No pale spots. No soft center. No collapse. The middle stayed light and chewy without becoming heavy. Every bite had just enough push back before giving way. The sauce was savory, herby, and tasted fresh. Asking for extra sauce wasn't about rescuing the pizza. It was simply getting more of one of its best qualities. The Brooklyn pie told a different story. The back crust had more body than I expected. More chew. More bread. Plenty of cheese. Plenty of pepperoni. Plenty of oil. By the third slice, the pepperoni cups had turned into little pools of smoky, spicy oil. That's a Brooklyn slice. If you know, you know. What impressed me most was that the craftsmanship never disappeared beneath all that richness. The bake stayed remarkably even across the entire pie. The rim was consistent from beginning to end. Every slice folded cleanly, held together, and ate the way it should. Consistency like that doesn't happen by accident. Neither does a room like this. Jacob Kamborian has been making pizza in Rhode Island for fifteen years. The move from Federal Hill to Smithfield wasn't a change of address. It was a chance to build the place he'd been working toward all along. A place where the pizza, the stage, the bar, the music, and the people all belong together. After spending a couple of hours there, I understand the bet. He hit the jackpot.

The live band was a nice touch, but between the slow service and consistent errors, I don't see myself returning.
