I wish that we could experience all the great things that other reviewers have mentioned,…read moreunfortunately we did not even get to step foot inside the office. I initially heard about this office on google when searching for an orthodontist for my son. They conveniently offer scheduling a new consult via their website. Scheduling was very simple and I thought we were done. Within one hour of scheduling a few weeks ago, I received a text message and 3 missed phone calls from their office. This was a huge turn off as a new patient. I was in a phone meeting At the time so it was very frustrating that they kept calling in such a short amount of time as well as texting. I did call and spoke with their office manager and expressed my frustration at being contacted so many times within such a short time frame. Their office manager stated it was because they needed to reschedule my appointment. At that time I decided not to reschedule and take some time to think. A few weeks later ( today) I decided that maybe it was a one time issue. Sometimes things happen and there is a need to call a patient and reschedule. Unfortunately the same issue happened again today. Within a short time of scheduling online, I was emailed and told they needed to reschedule my appointment. At this point I truly feel that management and the orthodontist need to have a sit down and revamp their online scheduling system or just figure out what is going on. When you have a new patient, you typically want your first interaction to be great. You don't want to have to contact them right away and reschedule. You want things to go smoothly and make a good impression. I had not one but two disappointing experiences with this practice before ever walking in the door and it is at this point that I realize this will not be the office that I want my son going to.

I just turned 27 so traditional braces were absolutely not (purely for vanity reasons) an option for me. The consultation was extremely thorough, his staff extremely helpful and friendly. Dr. Tisseront was more than happy to take the time to call my friend after office hours and spend more than an hour explaining his recommendation. I have been wearing harmony braces (hidden behind your teeth) for three months now and everyone is amazed at how quickly my teeth have moved. I already have a beautiful smile! When all is said and done I will have spent upwards of 10K (they have a very reasonable payment plan) but I don't think I would trust anyone else with my teeth at this point and feel like this was a truly an investment well made.

I came in for a cleaning and the dentist told the assistant to run my xrays through AI. This immediately set off alarm bells for me, as I expect a trained dentist to be able to identify cavities with their eye and not rely on AI, which we know makes mistakes. AI said I had 4 cavities, which I thought sounded like too many because I'm diligent about my dental hygiene. But I went ahead and got two of them filled. On one of the fillings the dentist kept drilling and drilling, and despite being numbed, I could feel it. I raised my hand to say I could feel it and he just stopped and started filling it. I was like - if I hadn't raised my hand, would he have just kept going? I then had persistent pain in the tooth for a week (there was zero pain before) so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out the dentist had not adjusted the filling to my bite correctly, so the way I was biting was inflaming the nerves in my tooth. Adjusting fillings to bite is Dentistry 101, so why wasn't that done? The new dentist also said he drilled so close to my nerves that I was almost in a root canal situation. Fortunately not, but wow, that really scared me. He also said I only needed one other filling, he didn't at all see this 4th filling I was told I needed. I saw another review on here of a man who was told he needed 7 fillings and then a second opinion said he only needed 4, so this isn't a one-off instance. It seems like this place prioritizes making as much money as possible, and therefore wants to sell as many procedures as possible, regardless of negative health impacts. I was also forced to buy a $30 prescription toothpaste, what a rip-off. They also push their in-house orthodontist heavily on people. I'm happy with my teeth even though they're not perfect, so I was not thrilled about the dentist unprompted telling me all the ways I could make them better with their orthodontist. In this economy?! I'm happy I found another dentist who doesn't put money first.

I had called around 6 months ago to schedule a consultation for my 9 year old who will definitely need braces. Our appointment was scheduled at 9:45, so trying to be courteous of the fact that he was a new patient and needed time to fill out paperwork, we arrived early. Apparently with this office you have to wait outside and then they will call you in. After it was past his appointment time I called their office. The woman who answered the phone stated that they made a mistake and "texted the wrong patient." So the text they sent us was not for us and I guess we didn't have an appointment that day . The text specifically said my sons name and the fact that this wasn't caught ahead of time was disappointing. The worst part about the whole visit was the woman who works at the front desk, she was awful. One issue is they either need to change the batteries in their thermometer or buy a new one. She came out of the office and while we were talking about what can be done since we are already there, she took my temperature and told me I was running a fever of 102 and "needed to calm down for a minute ". This was not only false but not at all appropriate to say to a patient. She then ran back in the office and came back out and took my temperature and said okay it looks like you calmed down and told me my temp was 94.6 which I don't think she realized is also inaccurate. She kept referring to me by my first name without even asking if it's okay. She kept putting an emphasis on my first name like I was a child being scolded. Super disrespectful. She mentioned that they didn't take our insurance which would have been nice to know ahead of our visit . I think with ortho it's pretty typical to pay some amount out of pocket but she didn't even talk about that option with us . I do see why patients like this practice though. It is very clean and updated on the inside and Dr Kim was extremely nice and had great bedside manner. Their assistant was also very nice. We have chosen another practice that also does not accept our insurance but the difference is that their customer service is fantastic.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH MY ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT!…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. I trusted NVO Orthodontics and Dr. Itani with my smile, and it was one of the biggest mistakes I've made. They completed my treatment even though my lower teeth were still crooked and my upper front teeth were still protruding. Anyone could clearly see that the treatment was not finished properly. I repeatedly expressed that I was unhappy with the results, but my concerns were not taken seriously. Instead of working with me to achieve the outcome I had paid for, they simply ended my treatment. I left the office feeling disappointed, frustrated, and hopeless. Orthodontic treatment is a significant investment of both time and money, and patients deserve to have their concerns heard and addressed--not dismissed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend NVO Orthodontics. I felt like getting paid was more important to them than making sure I was satisfied with the results of my treatment.

Now, suddenly, there's an "issue" and they need to redo it? Interesting--guess my bank account must be having issues too. All they care about is money. I purchased their so-called "lifetime retainer package," only to be told later that I can't even use it for a year. Who in their right mind would spend thousands of dollars on something they can't use immediately? Why wasn't I told that up front? Total scam logic. At this point, they can cancel my contract because I will be getting my retainers elsewhere. I never want to be associated with this greedy, misleading company again. Despite good dental health, I was fearful and hesitant find another dentist after transitioning to a new insurance plan and new work location (from Washington DC to Northern Virginia). I had been at my previous dentist for nearly 12 years. It turns out, change is good! I've found that those areas that were frequently listed as "watch and monitor" did in fact require action by way of filling. Listen, bad news doesn't get better with time when it comes to a weak spot in your tooth enamel. I found the staff to be very professional and incredibly personable! I saw Dr. Jenny Cheung. Dr. Cheung took the time to listen to my concerns (some aesthetic and some functional) and provided great advice and recommendations. I feel my smile is improved and I have a renewed interest in wearing my night guard each night (she found the right words to motivate me to form a new habit.) I loved how she used distraction techniques to minimize my thought of having a Novocain needle "pinch" or sting before getting a filling. The whole experience (from parking to payment was first rate.) The highlights: - Dr. Cheung has been on-time for both appointments (I was in the dental chair within 5 minutes of my appointment time). - The waiting area has current magazines to read (nobody likes to read magazines from 2013!) - The bathroom has toothbrushes and toothpaste for a quick freshen (for those post work/school appointments). - The front desk staff let me know an estimate of "patient responsibility" based on my insurance prior to making my follow-on appointment. This is huge to me as if I know I have a $2200 responsibility, I may choose to schedule a month or two out to avoid putting dental work on a credit card if at all possible. My situation wasn't bad at all, but I could certainly see where having the information up front could help a person plan for the necessary work. - Appointments can be made on ZocDoc (often times I work in cubicle land which doesn't allow for privacy at work, so having the ability to quietly schedule online is a bonus). - Free parking (my previous dentist was nearly $21 to park each time) I look forward to having a new 12 year relationship with a dentist! See you in 6 months!
