One word: Delicious! I got up early and went for breakfast. I heard this place was good and it didn't disappoint! I had the corn beef hash (made from scratch) and eggs. I also heard about their sweet potato pancakes and had to try one. All my food was amazing. The waitresses are very nice and simply watching them interact with each other is entertaining in and of itself. This place seems to be a locally famous joint where there is a solid cast of regulars. Here is a breakdown for my star distribution: First star is for their waffle and quick coffee refill... The second star...because there food is soo bland it actually inspired me to open up my own breakfast spot. Omg...first off this is not a one dollar sign breakfast place... My mom and I ran a bill of $32 dollars...THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS?!?! I swear they just over charged us because my mom hated their food and wasn't afraid to show it. my mom had the "sugar cured ham" twice! (bc it was barely touched) nope! The grits are watery...not creamy and their "FAMOUS" homefries are trash! yea....trash. They tasted like a boiled red bliss potato just cut up... absolutely noooo seasoning! That pretty much goes for the rest of their breakfast food too. This place made me feel so guilty, that I went to the gym for 2.5 hours! I was trying to get rid of all my wasted calories! Met all my expectations. I don't fry eggs and bacon at home and I don't have a toaster so, occasionally , I want well-executed eggs over easy, bacon, and wheat toast. I know that, at a place like this, I'm going to have margarine on my toast and an assortment of jelly in individual plastic containers sitting in a caddy on the table. At sunrise, the table was clean, the salt and pepper shakers on the table were clean and not sticky, the service was friendly and super fast, the interior was bright and roomy, the parking lot was ample (we were driving an RV) and it was easy to get to from the highway. Me and my wife decided to come here because everyone left good reviews about the pancakes. I must say, they are the best thing here! But that's also bad, because everything else was bland. I had the #7 (eggs, sausage patty, with biscuits and sausage gravy and "dressed-up" home fries) and the potatoes were very bland. They lacked flavor and needed salt, even with the cheese and onions on top. The eggs and sausage patty were good, but the gravy tasted canned. My wife had the #5 corned beef hash with sunny side up eggs and cheese grits. The grits were warm and lacked any sort of flavor, even with the cheese that would barely melt. The corned beef hash was decent, but she wasn't a huge fan as it was greasy and tasted "pickle-y." The food is good, the service is great..... BUT I would like to point out that they DO NOT offer a military discount. We visited on Veterans day. There are so many other choices for Vets that offer great discounts as a thanks for their service. I was very disappointed that Sunrise wasn't honoring our Heros, especially on a Holiday dedicated to their service. Something as simple as 10% or a free cup of coffee would really go a long way. I like Sunrise Grill. Their staff will get you seated and your order taken and delivered in short order. No ambiance here, just breakfast and lunch cooked right. The sweet potato pancakes are slightly sweet and heavier than their regular cakes. They serve them with a cinnamon cream syrup that complements the sweet potato pancake taste. Pretty good breakfast spot in town. They can get busy but usually the wait time wasn't bad the times I've been there. Our service was decent, nothing spectacular but nothing terrible. In actuality, the wait time was 5-10 minutes! We were seated fairly quickly. The menus stay on the table, similar to Waffle House. I've heard great things about the sweet potato pancakes, but I didn't order any. I ordered half a waffle, eggs, & bacon. Everyone's food was cooked to order. It took a while for the food to come out because they were so packed! The customer service was great, our waitress was really patient with my aunt who has dementia. My husband and I eat here weekly! We love to go on sat or sun mornings (be prepared to wait a bit). I always get the pork chop breakfast special with scrambled eggs and cheese, and the home fries with bacon and gravy. OMG so good! I dream about those potatoes sometimes. Arrived and the line was long at 15 minutes for breakfast. Decided to wait it out and grabbed a cup of coffee from the pot they set out for people waiting. The decorum is very utilitarian inside. My family was seated by a window with a view of all the other people waiting. We ordered our meals of which there is very little gluten free to be had. The meals arrived and they were large.
