Decided to make an early morning stop at Sunrise donuts since another place I originally wanted to visit was unexpectedly closed. No problems with parking as there's a parking lot. The selection itself is basic - they have the solid classics down, but I didn't see any special or unique donuts that caught my eye. The pricing is very fair though. The donuts themselves were just okay. They're slightly on the smaller side. I got a filled donut, and there was barely any filling inside. Overall, this is more of a convenient spot if you need a quick breakfast fix but not the best donuts I've had in DFW. read more

Solid local donut shop in the oaklawn area. We got a variety of donuts and kolaches. Our favorites were the glazed and blueberry cake donuts. They both tasted fresh and the glazed was soft in a great way. The kolaches were good and reminiscent of classic donut store kolaches from growing up. Ownership was kind and price was affordable. read more

I commute to Dallas for work and these are the best donuts around. I'm always sad on the weekends what I can treat myself to one. And if you're lucky to get a warm one!?!? Melt in your mouth goodness, without being too too sweet like a KK donut. Fast service, so kind, always clean, good variety and I believe they take custome orders. read more

We were looking for a quick donut on the way out of town on a Monday morning at 11am. By the time we arrived it was slim pickins. It was also uncomfortably warm inside. So we headed back out. The remaining treats in the case were mostly kolaches. read more

Very few options. Not a big selection of donuts to choose from. I think they had 5 cake donuts and just a few options for yeast donuts

Love the ladies who work here. Donuts are delish and somewhat cheap. I was a little surprised at pricing, but that's anywhere you go now! This place is a must! Very chill and friendly environment! read more

Excellent fresh pastries, quick efficient service, spotlessly clean. Consistently good quality. Conveniently located and parking available.

Best donuts delicious always fresh always yummy and they always have a huge selection

Not much of a selection, but I Had jelly donut , that was fresh and soft with good flavor..

This place is the best! The people who work there are super nice and the donuts, kolaches, spinach & feta bistro, etc. are all delicious! This was my first time ordering from here (for a work event) and it will not be my last. Everyone at work raved about it! read more

Always get a dozen donuts holes and blueberry cake donut, with coffee. donuts are fresh and coffee is good! They're super fast and have great customer service. Only thing I noticed this last visit was the female owner was extremely rude to her employee. Female owner was snatching things out of employee's hands and snapped at her to go in the kitchen. Hope this isn't how employees are typically treated here! Anyway, nice shop to pickup breakfast on the go! read more

Sunrise Donuts were good, not great. I tried an apple fritter. It had lots of bits of apple but was teeth-hurtingly sweet.

Best donuts by far! They are quality donuts! She runs a tight ship and expects perfection and it shows! Absolutely delicious donuts! They are soft pillowy and they make their fillings in house! It was busy in there because everyone knows they are that good! We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place for donuts! read more

I am addicted to this place- it's kinda a problem! LOL! The donuts are excellent and really cheap. This is a nice family owned spot. I always bring cash when I come here because I believe they have a minimum charge for cards. All the donuts are excellent and this is for sure my favorite donut spot in the big D. read more

First of all these are the best donuts ever. Something about the ingredients and preparation. Terrific product and lovely owners and employees. Clean and organize and do a heck of a business. Best glazed donuts I've had in Dallas! Very consistent and a go to for years! Give it a shot!

Automatically five stars from me because they had my favorite flavor/donut type.... The maple cake donut! We arrived right after they opened on a weekday (around 5:40am) and they were well stocked and everything amazing about donut shops! The staff were hard at work and we immediately got our favorite donut selections. Cute and quaint friendly donut shop vibes. Will definitely come back! read more

I was recommended to visit this place while on my trip to the stockyards. I ordered two different donuts. They were extremely delicious. Way better than donut shops I've ever come across. One of the best donut shops in Dallas! The staff is always so nice and the donuts are amazing. Support local and shop here rather thank Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. Trust me, so good! Also, cash is preferred if you have it. I hear the Kolache's are amazing. read more

I live close by in Turtle Creek and this is the best donut shop in the area. Always fresh and very kind!

Sure they aren't life-changing donuts, but miles better than something like Krispy Kreme. It's a small and unassuming place but the donuts are nice and fluffy and generally not AS sweet as most commercial donuts. The family (I think) who runs it are extremely friendly and always offer to warm up donuts and pastries. Support local! read more

There are two things that I love in the morning, watching the sunrise and eating donuts. This place just so happens to be called Sunrise Donuts. Coincidence? I think not. This place is very economical, so you won't spend a lot, but you will get a lot of donuts. Aside from the cheap prices, this place really fills you up and prepares you for the morning to come. Now for the food: The Food: I had a chocolate frosted donut, the giant cinnamon roll, and the kolaches (jalapeno/cheese sausage wrapped in soft bread, AKA "pig in a blanket"). Chocolate Frosted Donut: PICK ME UP. Sweet and chocolately without being too much. Best eaten right when they come out warm since you get the light and fluffy texture of the donut. The best part is when you bite into it, the glazed frosting cracks, you hear the soft crunch, and your mouth meets the warm and sweet donut. Their chocolate frosted donut is something I would wake up early for. Giant Cinnamon Roll: ONLY $1. Huge cinnamon roll about the size of a human head! Definitely something you can share with a friend or family member. Sweet and glazed with a very simple cinnamon flavor. Although it is only $1, it tastes like a generic cinnamon roll that you can bake from a premade Pillsbury cinnamon roll. If you don't have the time to make cinnamon rolls, this place will get it to you for cheap. However, the simple and generic cinnamon flavor and generic sugar sweetness, combined with the large size, made this a little tough to eat (-2 stars). I would rather go for a leftover Cinnabon from the day before. Kolaches: CHEESE, SPICE, and EVERYTHING SOFT and NICE. Usually, sausages either have too much salt, a strong preservative or nitrate aftertaste that burns the back of the throat, or lack any special flavors. The jalapeno, cheese sausage in the kolaches is just balanced so that it doesn't ruin your morning. GET THESE HOT and you won't regret them. The bun that wraps the sausage has yeast, which provides the sweet, soft, and fluffiness that make this kolache a great experience. This is pretty much a mini-meal in itself. The Verdict: GET THEM HOT AND EARLY. Cheap donut shop with a great chocolate frosted donut and kolaches. The giant cinnamon roll is only $1, but it tastes pretty generic (you can make this at home). But for $1, you could satisfy a cinnamon roll craving. Definitely worth it to drop by. Even if it rains in Dallas, you know that there is a Sunrise Donuts that will make your morning a little better. read more

Donuts are without a doubt my guilty breakfast pleasure (if you can even call it breakfast), and while I held off as long as I could, I finally caved and decided to give some of the Dallas donut shops a test drive. Sunrise Donuts was up first, and has set a pretty high bar. Star 1 - How was the service and atmosphere? Locally owned and operated in a convenient strip mall, Sunrise Donuts is quick and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and seem to cater to a steady flow of regulars, which is always nice to see. Even on Saturday morning, the line moved quickly and I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Star Granted. Star 2 - How were the portions relative to the cost? Reasonable without a doubt. I was grabbing a dozen for some friends and a large cinnamon bun for myself, and I was pleased to find that I only paid $8.20 for my mixed dozen: http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=vKi6GjyAbzepxWjdibUsaQ&userid=OKX-V5j_qfuOebeHeWGrHg and $1.00 for my cinnamon bun: http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=bYxt9RnMKpcTSiqIlwLpEQ&userid=OKX-V5j_qfuOebeHeWGrHg Those are fair, and while the maple bars, apple fritters, etc. ramped up towards the $2.00 mark, I was very pleased to walk out for well under $10. Star Granted. Stars 3/4 - How was the food? My benchmark has always been the standard glazed, and I was pleased with Sunrise's helping. Their glazed donut is light and airy with just the right amount of glaze. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was very good and easily beat chains like Krispy Kreme. From there, cinnamon roll was solid while the powdered cinnamon was a tad on the weak side, but overall, I was pleased. Single Star Granted. Star 5 - Would you eat it every day if you could? There are quite a few donut options in the city, and as of present, Sunrise is the only one I've tried. I'm going to hold off here, but if I try say two more and find they don't add up to Sunrise? I'll come back and dish this star out. No Star Granted. read more
