LOVE LOVE This local spot! It is so SO good and I love their sausage rolls. The people who work here are always so kind especially when I see them at 5:45am to get the birthday or weekend donuts for the little ones. The donuts are super light and very well made. The designs, decorations and colors are amazing. It is our go to spot! read more

Honestly your pretty standard donut shop, but the sausage rolls are so so good when fresh out of the oven. They also have multiple kinds of donut holes that I'm intrigued by! The staff was super friendly and also, they have started taking credit cards so you don't have to stress over not having cash anymore. read more

I've probably passed this store a hundred times as I walked down Hillcrest but never really paid attention until today. We stopped in here quickly for a donut for the little one and she found some she liked so everyone was happy. The selection is not huge but everything was fresh. Prices seemed reasonable. I would go back. read more

Stopped in before the game this morning. A little wait outside but worth it. Not the greatest ever but didn't get a large sample to go by. Apple fritter was good as well as the glazed donut holes. If you're in the area it's worth the stop! read more

Perfect. Tasty. Friendly service. Donut shop ambience. Ideal for best fresh donuts. Best in Dallas.

A coworker brought Mustang Donuts in for us this morning. I had a chocolate glazed donut, which is my donut of choice. This tasted just like any other yeast donut I have had. This was nothing spectacular but the donut was still tasty. I tried a bite of the regular cake donut and it was a little dry. However, with the location, this is super close to my office. I might try to stop in sometime and see how their prices are. read more

Very nice attendants. Good donuts. Make sure to be there before 9 AM because they run out fast!

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Value: 4/5 ------ CASH ONLY! Be prepared when you come in :) Taste is great, and location is in a great neighborhood. (Wish there was better parking though! It gets busy in the mornings.) Love that all the neighborhood families come here as well. Has a great vibe. Their blueberry cake donut is famous, and it's a good one! My favorite donut, so of course had to check it out. Lighter than most, which is refreshing. Their glazed yeast options are also great, very fluffy and good consistency. And not too sweet! Which is always a plus in my opinion. I'm excited to try some of their other flavors in the future. Line will be considerable if you come during peak hours, but their turnover is very fast, and you probably won't have to wait more than 10 minutes or so. read more

Grab any spare change or dollar bills and head on over to Mustang Donuts! This neighborhood donut shop located right off of the SMU campus in Dallas offers some of the best donuts. I was able to walk there on a warm October day and order a variety of donuts. I saw the Red, White & Blue donut and knew I had to get that one. Beyond the fact that it was a total insta-worthy donut, I was so impressed by the flavor and texture. The icing was incredible - it tasted like the icing you put on a cake or cupcake. It was still warm and completely melted in my mouth! Prices are very reasonable, too. Just remember - it's cash only! Luckily, there's a Wells Fargo and Chase Bank nearby if you need to go to an ATM. Stop by Mustang Donuts and have a dough-lightful day ;) read more

Donuts were pretty good, but wasn't worth the wait. Just go to whatever donut shop is around the corner. I understand the loyalty though.

These are the fluffiest and softest donuts in Dallas. Everything is delicious and scrumptious!

Three words...HOT FRESH GLAZED. Yeah, they have the rest, but once you've had their perfect fresh from the grease, covered in sugary glaze, fried donuts you won't even care. Kenny started Mustang Donuts ages ago when he also started Ken's Donuts in Austin...seems they won't let you use Longhorn and Bevo hap-hazardly. He ran the shops while going to law school. Once a successful lawyer he hired managers to run the well loved neighborhood shops, and eventually sought out folks who would love them as much as he did, and sold them. Not much has changed from year to year, except the faces behind the counter. All the time and effort Kenny put into opening these donut shops, tasting the different brand so of batter etc, paid off. Dallas Observer ranks Mustang Donuts as the best donut in town. I've been going there since 1986. *kicks soap box to middle of room and climbs on top* And when Dunkin Freaking Donuts opens in the spot where 'the MAN' tossed Balls Burgers out of business, I will still be going to Mustang Donuts. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna find out the opening day and I say we ALL park in front of Dunkin and walk over to Mustang! Just a little bitter. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid. An HP staple and something I look forward to coming home to

CASH ONLY!! Come early for the full selection of donuts!! Since I just made it in before closing, they were of course sold out of their blueberry cakes in addition to other donuts. At least there was no line at that time. I tried the Glazed Donut Hole ($0.35), Donut Hole w/Sprinkles ($0.35),and Glazed Old Fashioned ($1.20) [http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ln-DkDzYV6NbAj-UBnqaPQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]. WOW, the donut holes with sprinkles were surprisingly really good. The sprinkles/frosting was a tad sweet, but the taste was otherwise amazing (and I don't usually like sprinkles). Highly recommended! The glazed donut hole was just ok, and I wouldn't get that again. The glazed old fashioned was solid, and recommended if that's the style donut you like. I love that they have 20 minute parking spots right out front, since it made it really easy to grab a spot and hop in and out. I will definitely be back to try their blueberry cake donuts and get more of those donut hole w/sprinkles!! read more

The people who work here are incredibly thick in the skull. We were the only people in the place and the woman taking our order couldn't get it right after about 5 minutes of her condescendingly asking us questions and looking at us like we were stupid. A bit awkward to get into on a one way street but what do you expect for a place on a college campus? I've been here a couple of times already, and it has been a pleasant experience, especially since I have to drive about 25 miles and pass hundreds of other doughnut places on my way. The doughnuts here comes in a lot of different varieties, including various cake and yeast doughnuts. The quality of these doughnuts are outstanding, and definitely beyond the "Donut" place you see in other strip malls. I knocked off a star because this place only takes cash, a little annoying since I only carry so much cash on me and vary my buying activities based on this fact alone. I once had to look for coins under my car seat because I wanted an extra jelly doughnut for the trip back (I've already bought two dozens for the office at this point). read more

Mustang Donuts - Don't miss this sign. - Donuts Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Mustang Donuts is convenient if you're on campus for something. They are decently priced, and have a good amount of frosting and/or glaze on them. We conducted a very scientific study of the three donut shops in the neighborhood one morning. We got a glazed donut at each J's, Mustang Donuts and the donut shop on Skillman and Mockingbird (Donut King on Yelp). It wasn't even close. Donut King was the solid winner. Mrs. Nina serves up one heck of a donut and even with a smile. read more

Donut Sunday!! This place is delicious!! I come here EVERY Sunday not only for myself but for my coworkers and customers at my work! Everyone looks forward to the donuts (glazed, chocolate and sprinkled) and it is always the best! I've tried 3-4 places on Sunday's before I found this gem and I will never go anywhere else! They are always super friendly! One thing to know is line is usually out the door but it's worth the wait because it goes by really fast! It's on campus so I expected a lot of college kids and it's actually more families than anything. I'm notorious for not having cash so I always have to go to the ATM but there's one walking distance. The donuts are soft, dense, and gooey. They're not super thin and shrink to nothing when you bite. It just melts but enough to let you taste and enjoy the flavor. read more

This place is AWESOME! One of the best in the park cites and is right by my school! Almost every morning I go to get donuts before school! I definitely recommend going... But if you do make sure to bring cash! One time I told my dad that I wanted to go at 5 AM because the day before the line was long so if you are going on the weekend maybe think about going a little early! They have a variety of donuts and usually aren't out of any! The lady's at the front are maybe the kindest people I have ever met! Every time I got they recognize me and welcome me! Donuts are homemade with real homemade icing. A few bites and you are sick full floating on cloud 9 donut heaven. Once you eat homemade ecstasy you can't even look at store bought or chain donuts in the eye. Someone brought Dunkin Donuts to work and it tasted like garbage compared to Mustang. I ate one quarter of the chain Donut, threw it in the trash and vowed never to commit Donut adultery again. No scarlet A for me, I want a big homemade dripping with thick icing letter 'M' for mustang on my chest. Just to give you a lil background, I live in the neighborhood and often ran past this joint and smirked at the 'screw your health' donut line goers. But after sharing one with Ma and Sis, I know why donut party line goers are all smiling and screwing their health. These babies sell like Hotcakes for a reason and are worth the calories. read more

The best donut joints stay busy. This not only tells you that people love them, but also that the donut turnover rate is sufficient to prevent you from getting donuts that have been sitting out for hours. Mustang donuts may just be one of the busiest donut joints I have ever seen. I'm sure it is a function of what is taking place on a given morning at SMU, but I have been when the line is out the door and filling up the sidewalk out front. The apple fritters may be the best in the world. They are a little flatter than your average fritter, but they are have a diameter the size of a dinner plate. This thinness allows for each bite to be the perfect ratio of crispy, sweet fried outer dough and light and fluffy apple laced inner dough. These things are dreamy. The hot plain glazed are the next best thing on my list. They have a similar flavor as a Krispy Kreme donut but the frosting is a thicker, sticky consistency. Yummers. Other donuts I have had are pretty standard. Good but not great. Overall though, a great donut shop with some of the jolliest women running it I have ever met. PS- Cash only. read more

Blueberry cake donuts for the win! I'm going to remember to tower up a dozen of Mustang's blueberry cake donuts as a tiered cake next year on my birthday. Hallelujah I've finally found THE cake donut. When I took a bite out of the oh so sweet blueberry donut I swear there would have been a ray of light shining down with angels singing "Hallelujah"....goodness gracious that little thing was so good. The one thing that I can commend them on is how perfectly they glazed the donut. It doesn't flake off like most donut places do when I take a bite into it. It's quite embarrassing when all the glaze falls into your lap making you look like a barbaric donut eater. The glaze is perfectly portioned with the donut making it not too sweet. I'm a HUGE fam of the blueberry cake and it will definitely remain to be on the top of my most delicious donut list. Ive tried the different selections of their donuts but this one is by far my favorite. The only downside is you have to get there extremely early in order to get your hands on these little tykes. They go out so fast!! I'll be back bright and early next time Mustang Donuts. Om nom nom! read more

In the Uptown-ish area, there's actually very few doughnut shops around! Apparently, they've be replaced by the proliferation of frozen yogurt shops! Now donuts are a bit unhealthy for my usual routine but, who doesn't love a sweet doughnut from time to time!? Mustang Donuts is a great place to pickup a dozen on the way to the office to please a client or your co-workers. They've got great donuts and it's pretty close to home for me. Parking can be a tad fussy as it is along Hillcrest across from SMU. On my last visit, it was a school holiday so it was not the best day to stop in. Park cities moms and their screaming children lining out the door! Keep in mind they take cash only so come prepared. Stop in before your next work meeting for a dozen served with a smile! read more

I gave it five stars based on 12 years of dedicated consumption back in the 70's and 80's. When I think of the best donuts in the world, I think of Mustang Donuts. I have no idea if they still stand up - but I hope they do. Mustang set my donut standards. Growing up, we went in almost every weekend. Here's my main memory: standing in line - staring at the high school sports team photos, at the front of the line my mom answering (correctly) the trivia question, the crestfallen look in the counter folks' eyes who thought surely this time she would be stumped, and her always pure delighted surprise (usually with a "YES!" single fist pump) at answering the question correctly. After which she humbly requested the donut of her choice. I look forward to visiting Dallas soon and having their glazed yeast donuts - hot with thin icing. The way god intended. read more

Mustang knows how to do it right, and you can tell because they've been open for so many years in a shopping center where small businesses drop like flies. Awesome donuts, friendly service, and it has that community feel on Saturday mornings when people from all walks of upper-middle-class Caucasian-ness gather to enjoy the food. My only issue: they close at noon. I oft crave donuts between noon and 5am the next morning, so I'm left feeling sad and donut-less. But they clearly can pull a profit from their current hours, so I can see why they don't feel the need to change (but with hungry/intoxicated SMU students so near, why wouldn't you?) Don't forget cash! And don't be the loser that looks up the free donut question on their smart phone. Have some propriety. read more

Well, just another weak donut shop. Went in this morning to buy coffee & a chocolate donut. At alittle before 7am, how do you not have a chocolate iced donut!? This has got to be the #2 selling donut in the history of donuts after the glazed donut! So you shouldn't be running out no matter how good they are. But if they taste like the glazed donut, it's even more inexplicable. Not sure why it's considered so special, oh well, no accounting for taste. read more
