Cutest quaint little donut shop at the corner of mockingbird and Skillman, right next to snap kitchen. My boyfriend and I grabbed our ritualistic weekend Dunkin' coffee after church and he was craving a kolache, so we happily stumbled upon this place. The lady in the front, (Nina) was so sweet and softly spoken, we were OBLIGATED to get more than we originally intended. I got a small crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, strawberry glazed donut. My boyfriend got a dozen donut holes and 2 kolaches. Delicious, tasty, and scrumptious is all I'm going to say Thanks for making our Sunday even better Nina/Donut King. We'll be back read more

I live 4 blocks away from this place, and came here for the first time ever (in my 25 years in the 'hood) just before closing time today, after brunching out. King Donuts is a tiny, old school donut and breakfast pastry joint with a just right selection of sweet and savory donuts, tacos, kolaches, and other miscellaneous treats. It is run by a sweet older Asian lady, in the top tier of nicest people you'll ever meet instantly. The donuts and kolaches are both outstanding and inexpensive, especially in this day of "fancy" upscale donut joints like Voodoo and Hypnotic. From now on, this place will be our local and sole provider of donut centric cuisine, no doubts or hesitation. Her stuff is excellent, and her service and kindness is just as good, if not even better. read more

Just stopped by this business on a whim and I'm so glad I did! It's a no frills, walk-in/counter establishment and everything I got was so delicious and pillowy. Here's what I tried: - Jalapeño kolache - Normal kolache - Blueberry cake donut - Glazed donut The lady who served me (and I believe is the owner) was so sweet - she popped my treats in the warmer and slipped the glazed donut into my order. Full confession. We came here because it was close to the meet up point for our running group and we were hosting a 10k Donut Dash. What happened - as it sometimes does - is that we found an absolute gem of a place. You don't make it to the half century point of your life as am American (and particularly not a lifetime Baptist Sunday School attending American) without eating a fair number of donuts. Based on that vast life experience with donuts, good and (at times) average, trust me when I say these donuts are exceptional. Glaze - hinted with vanilla, not just a sugary mix. Tender - seriously impressive yeast rise, but not bready in texture Generous - we bought 1 dozen glazed donuts, .5 cinnamon sugar donuts, .5 dozen chocolate glazed donuts, and 2 dozen donut holes. Before I paid, the owner tossed in a different style of glazed donut (cinnamon sprinkled) than I'd purchased, a mini cinnamon roll and a mini Apple fritter. We loved everything we tried and our runners devoured the donuts - and that wasn't just because they ran a 10k that morning. Truly a neighborhood gem. read more

Running through town stopped by to grab a bite. Met at door by owner very friendly woman. We ordered 4 sausage bacon cheese croissant and an Apple fritter to share. All for under $10.00. I have to say this little Donut Shop on Skillman St had some of the best I have tasted. Owner threw in 2 glazed donuts in our bag. I have never been a glaze donut person until now. Light warm and sweet delicious. Sausage croissants warm flavorful meat wrapped in light flaky crust. Wow I would drive over here to get some more. read more

What a sweet owner. Donuts we had- maple bar, blueberry, chocolate twist, small fritter and donut holes. All good. The donut holes tasted especially fresh! Beware of being over charged !!! I went there this morning to get donuts and was over charged I even saw when he was ringing it up what was suppose to be 6 dollars he charged 8 . I asks about it but the issue he would not resolved . So how many others has he has ring up hugging the the amount and they just didn't notice . Shame on him that is theft . Being new to Dallas and this area, I tried basically all of the donut shops within a 3-5 mile radius and this is hands down the best. You can't go wrong here. I generally judge based on glazed but my favorite donut here is actually the sugar coated. To be clear, they have the best glazed around too. I find the nice lady funny because she's always saying "mmmm" as a response to anything you say like she already knows that's what you're thinking. Lol read more

Nina is the best. They didn't have any cheese free kolaches so she said be back in 30 min. Gave me a delicious melt in your mouth glazed donut for my trouble. I came back and she was so surprised she gave me a big hug and another bag of free Donuts. While I waited for my kolaches to bake, she insisted on making me a cup of coffee. Then another customer walked and was greeted like family and told me these were the best donuts in town. I have to agree!!! Customer service is hard to come by these days but king donut makes you feel like home!!! read more

This place is on point. Totally unassuming and frankly wouldn't have visited if I wasn't doing a donut-hunt one more a while back. A huge surprise and I'll be back for sure! We conducted a very scientific study of the three donut shops in the neighborhood one morning. We got a glazed donut at each J's, Mustang Donuts and the donut shop on Skillman and Mockingbird (Donut King on Yelp). It wasn't even close. Donut King was the solid winner. Yes I know...this is donuts twice in one week. What can I say, I've been hungry. Don't bother stopping here. I went in because I had an errand across the street and was too lazy to hit the Burger King. When I walked in I saw they had sausage, cheese, biscuits---my personal kryptonite. They had cheese goo all over the outside of the biscuit so I had to have one. I also got the cinnamon sugar buttermilk old fashioned, and a V8 Peach Mango Fusion. The only thing I finished was the drink. The biscuit was AWFUL. The biscuit itself tasted burnt. The sausage had no taste and the cheese...IT WAS CHEESE WHIZ, not the melted American I thought it was. And the whole thing was barely warm. The donut tasted like Crisco with icing. Waste of $5, but at least I won't gain as much weight as if I'd had a been at Burger King. read more

Cute little donut shop. I visit here often, as it is the closest place on my war to work. I have never been disappointed . They have all the usual standards. I really like the sausage rolls! They are always so fresh. The little Asian lady who runs this place is always so very nice. She is always smiling and seems to enjoy her job. The kolaches here are seriously good! My favorite has to be the jalapeno. The croissant kolaches are great as well, and you can't go wrong with the classic either.
