The donuts are good, but if you don't get there before 9 am there will be no donuts left. They only make 1 batch of everything

This has become our new favorite neighborhood donut spot. The quality and freshness factor are just too high for us not to switch from our previous spot - which is actually closer than this one but when you need quality sugar and kolaches, what's an extra block or so! The employees are not necessarily the warmest people but the are super nice and get the job done. Their jalapeño kolaches have a much lower bread to sausage ratio which is nice but the non jalapeño ones are a little smaller and usual bread ratio. I kinda wish they had the larger ones without the jalapeños for the kids. I always get asked why they get the smaller ones when I get home! Pro tip - don't sleep on the donut holes. They are delicious and super moist / soft. I highly recommend just the plain glazed donut holes. read more

This is one of those donut shops where you best get there early before they sell out. This trip, I was a little late. What they did have was some of their wonderful sausage rolls and a few glazed donuts which is what I wanted. Okay, had there been some chocolate covered, and apple fritters, I would have added those. Those are good from this location, but others took that hit against my waistline. The sausage rolls are absolutely the best tasting ones in the area! The thin almost crisp egg battered crust complements the soft interior which wraps the delicious sausage and cheese. The aroma is always makes me want more than my belly can hold. They have coffee and a cooler full of milk, juice and water. I should add that next door is a world famous coffee chain if you have a more specific coffee need. read more

This is my favorite place to get donuts! The glaze they use is the absolute sweetest! It's that perfect blend of then sugar coating and creamy powder sugary glaze. I love the donut holes. Also, they make cinnamon rolls in the regular donut size so you don't feel like a glutton for eating two. The apple fritters actually have chunks of apple in them. The sausage rolls are very tasty. They have a jalapeno one that I like. They are next door to a Starbucks, but they have their own gourmet coffee that is just as good. However, I usually have a chocolate milk. This place hooks you as soon as you get out of your car. That fresh doughnut smell hits you in the parking lot. owners are very friendly and have a cult following. I used to think that all little doughnut shops taste the same but they have scrapped that idea. Sausage rolls are killer. They make all their dough and you can tell that they put love in these doughnuts. So for a non-specialty doughnut place, They definitely earn 4 stars. My muffin top thanks me! read more

What a gem in our neighborhood!! The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. The prices are reasonable. The cafe is very simple yet clean and well lit. The display cases containing the donuts are nothing fancy, yet I would much rather have clean and well organized than flashy; Good choice! I enjoyed the apple fritter and would recommend that. The drink fridge is well stocked? and I bought chocolate milk. The one downside is the limited seating, so plan ahead for that. There are a couple tables inside, and they were in use, which is good. There are some tables outside, although not specifically with the Cafe Donuts. read more

Giving it 3 (or 3.5) stars for now, but may increase the rating in the future. Part of the low score is partly my own fault, and that was for the fact that we didn't go get donuts until 11 am, so they were sold out of a ton of stuff including apple fritters (we had already left one donut shop that was also out--what is the deal??). So we decided we would go ahead & try them anyways. They were definitely fresh & tasty. Better than the donuts you buy at the grocery store. There was a steady flow of people going in & out of the store the whole time we were there. The chocolate cake donuts & plain glazed were GOOD! I like their sausage kolache too. Their coffee was definitely not good. I would pass on that, but they do have milk. We will go back & try to get an apple fritter next time. read more

This is the best place for donuts in East Dallas, and really anywhere as far as I'm concerned. Way better than your average neighborhood doughnut shop. The freshness and texture is top notch. Cake doughnuts are just as they should be--a light crisp on the outside but doughy goodness inside. The maple cake donut is my hands down favorite, but I've tried almost everything and loved each one. You cannot go wrong. Love the donut sized cinnamon rolls so you don't have to commit to a giant one and waste precious calories you could be spending on more donuts. WHOA. What an unsuspecting donut shop off Mockingbird Lane. This past weekend I was feeling donut-y and of course, Yelped, for the best shop near where I was, which happened to be Cafe Donuts. A steady crowd of people came in an out of the door in the few minutes I was there. I simply couldn't decide what to get so I went with my go to donut order, an old fashioned ring AND a maple bar. I just couldn't resist! The old fashioned ring was good and definitely something I would grab again if I was in the neighborhood. With that said, the maple bar was easily the best I've ever had. The donut was perfectly puffy and light and the maple icing was fresh and flavorful. I would drive out of my way, OK, WAY out of my way to get my hands on some of these babies when the craving emerged. I am anxious to try what else Cafe Donuts has in store..with a maple bar on the side, of course! read more

This place is a complete hole in the wall, but damn they can make a good fresh doughnut! They have the best glazed doughnut holes I've ever had in my life here. There's no place to sit inside, but the Starbucks next door has plenty of tables inside and out, and they don't seem to mind you crashing their place to make big doughnut mess as long as you buy a quick coffee. This place is a much better option than the stale crap I've been getting at dunkin donuts lately - worth checking out if you're nearby. Warning though - they close pretty early...around 12 or 1 I think, so get there early. read more

I was happy with my spicy sausage roll but not wowed due to its lack of said spice. While I'm not necessarily looking for a heat level of "Hot", I was expecting at least a "Medium", to which it fell a little short of. It seems their sausage rolls get the most attention from Yelpers and local patrons, but I really feel like the single glazed doughnut I had stole the spotlight. A very light, fresh, and perfectly glazed dough circle of delight- I would come back just for these... and maybe throw in a couple piggies on the side. All in all, they wouldn't be easily beat for prices & flavor of their simple selections. read more

so i had seen this a location a few times and decided to drop by... they have a really small menu, and the swine in a blanket are a little pricey... they only have two different sizes... the bigger kolache is the jalapeno one, i got a few to try them out... they were ok at best, lady had to warm them up... the also they sell you a 10 fl oz drink for almost 3 bucks what a rip off... will not be going back... customer service was ok, but food isnt all that great might as well go to shipleys or any other location with a bigger selection read more

This donut shop hold a lot of heart to me. The people working there are so nice to the costumers and connect with them. I have had my Christmas card in their cafe for maybe 8 years! Their donuts are very simple and delicious and nothing gets better than that. my first time in. I thought they were pretty good. I had a kolache which I felt was below average. I had a cinnamon sour cream donuts that I thought was slightly above average and I had a chocolate twist which I felt was pretty well above average. Quick in, quick out. I can't say that this donut shop stands out for all the others. In my opinion, this is your general average donut shop. I am giving the extra star for quick service. The owners get it, they know you are on your way to work and can get you in and get you out, even if the line is long. It's my donut friday stop. Now if Hypnotic decides to move over here, then friday donut day will move to another location. read more

I found this place due to the great Yelp reviews on the sausage rolls. I used to live in Tulsa and fell in love with sausage rolls (a midwestern specialty?) and since I was in Dallas, I thought I would try to hunt some down as I can't find them in Louisville or Orlando! So I entered the address into my GPS and off I went. I called ahead for them to save me 2 sausage rolls because I wasn't going to drive all the way from Denton on the way to the airport and find out they were out, LOL! I ended up buying a dozen! 2 of the large spicy sausage rolls ($2 each) and 10 of the regular, smaller rolls ($1 each). Very tasty and excellent with some mustard. The store is owned by a cute South Korean couple. They were really sweet and I will be back next time I'm in the Dallas area!!! read more

These donuts are delicious they keep me coming back and when they have coffee brewed it's great, but went in today bought a large coffee only had one of their four coffees brewed it wasn't even their standard plain, it was French vanilla (I wish the cashier would have let me know BEFORE I bought a large) and it was just barely warm they still had 2 hours until closing when I asked what the next brew was she just said plain and stared at me not telling when or asking what brew I wanted. It may sound picky but I work in a coffee shop as well and it just sucks when you're really looking for a good cup of joe but get a cup of luke warm disappointment. read more
