Ordered meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans and side salad for around $16 for my mother in law at the Island health and rehab close to here. We received looked like microwaved hamburger steak, instant potatoes and some of the blandest green beans ever or side salad was also wilted and had no dressing no silver ware.My mother in law is always so excited when we come and bring her food. I waited at the front of the door. Two waitresses at the front of the store saw us said nothing. Then finally a third waitress acknowledged us, then asked us if there were 2. I said yes and said we wanted to sit outdoors. Then she made a exasperated face as if it was an inconvenience and proceeded to say "Well with it being outdoors, it may take us longer to get to you." And I was thinking even on the indoors I was barely acknowledged much less it being even worse on the outdoors. And I said well I hope that you will still get to us outdoors. And she said she will try. Then she asked me in an agitated tone what I wanted to drink and I said I was not sure and I said I would think about it as I sat outdoors. She then proceeded to seat the next persons behind us. Granted it was my first time at the restaurant, had not seen a menu and did not even know what was to drink on the menu as I was visiting from out of town. I am very disappointed as I had seen the wonderful reviews online and the great food. I had chosen this diner over several places. The food is average but the service is HORRIFIC -- nearly non-existent. While there today, we were treated to 3 servers (including ours) who were SITTING AT THE COUNTER EATING THEIR OWN LUNCH and loudly griping that 'people are poor tippers.' Meanwhile, we sat with empty glasses needing refills for 10 minutes -- after being treated to a server with a poor attitude who really didn't want to be there. The waitress Dominique just ruins this place. I have been there maybe 8 times and every time I get her she is horrible. She is simply rude and inefficient. She has got to be related because no self respecting business man would keep someone employed who treats customers so badly. I talked with the owner a couple years ago about her and he said she was probably having a bad day but no no no no no no she is just nasty and horrible. Over and over and over again she ignores you, doesn't give you a check while you just sit there waiting, never checks back, no kind words.....ugh. I have waited over 15 minutes for a check before, never getting it and just leaving enough cash on the bar to pay it plus a 30 or 40% tip just so that I am doing my part. What a god awful woman. A disgrace to hard working Americans and Greek people everywhere. We were visiting Cocoa Beach last week and after searching for a place to have breakfast decided to stop in to this diner, what a wonderful and exceptional experience we had. I called the diner to inquire about their wait time and the young lady who answered, Liz, was so pleasant and even offered to take our name and put it on the waiting list. Once we arrived and we were seated she came by to ask if I was the person who called ahead and the fact that she acknowledged me made me feel welcomed and valued as a customer. As regular costumer we are more and more disappointed in the service. The mood of the waitresses is getting worse over time. Why so cranky and uninterested in your costumers while working in a dinner where you see the sun coming up every morning? Oh, I know; they close all the blinds soon the first sun rays are coming out!! They turn the dinner into an Igloo; dark and freaking cold. I've only ever been to Sunrise for breakfast. I have no idea what their lunch and dinner options are. I'm there for pancakes. I ordered an omelet and my wife ordered a short stack of pancakes. The omelet was really good, but man, those pancakes... I don't know what they're putting in them, but they are so incredibly good. They actually come out looking like they're undercooked. Not very brown, etc. However, when you bite into them... oh... my... gosh. Incredible. On another note, this is an efficient operation. As soon as someone gets up from their table to pay their bill, the staff is cleaning it off and getting it ready for the next person. While in Cocoa Beach on a staycation with my boyfriend, we consulted Yelp for a good breakfast spot and happened upon Sunrise. Great reviews and a cute looking diner so we figured, why not!? The aesthetic of the restaurant is very simple, not too much going on besides just being a typical diner. It's very reminiscent of coney island restaurants in Metro Detroit. Although many reviewers said the food was great I thought it was maybe a tad above average. I had eggs and home fries and they were definitely not the best I've had. Service here wasn't that great either. Granted it was a busy Sunday morning, but I asked for a refill on my water many times and finally got it refilled right before we were about to pay and leave. The food was amazing the service by the waitress was horrible. We were seated by a man, I think the owner, who was great, super friendly asking us where we were from, chatted with us for a minute, and then he left and the waitress came over. It was 2 pm in the afternoon and only people at 2 other tables. The waitress was short with us, rolled her eyes at us a few times and she was complaining to the other waitress about the owners for most of the time were were there. We got a combination of lunch and breakfast foods and all 6 of us enjoyed everything we ordered it was all delicious. We also told the waitress when we placed our order we were going to need to order 2 things to go. When we got the check, it wasn't right, but it is all handwritten and honestly we all looked at each other and was like who is going to tell her that this is wrong, none of us wanted to so we just paid.
