Played here this past weekend after finding an online tee time reservation. It's winter time so the course conditions are a little all over the place. Tee boxes are uneven, fairways got a lot of dead spots, but as a fun and challenging golf course, it's a fun track to play. A lot of beginners on the course, so pace of play was long. Almost 5.5 hours for 18, which is way too long IMO. We didn't see a marshal on the course, but that would definitely help speed up the pace of play. Price of a weekend round has gone up to $71, which is still somewhat reasonable for a public course in the Bay Area. If you want to take a cart, it's $18 per rider. It's definitely a flatter course, so walking is definitely doable without it being too strenuous. We found out after we booked that they had just aerefied their greens, so the greens were less than optimal, so I probably wouldn't come back until that gets all sorted out and back to normal. read more

Fun and walkable city/municipal course. Reasonably priced compared to courses nearby. Not too difficult. It can take a bit of time to play due to the slow play of others. However, the marshall does try to keep everyone on pace. read more

I haven't played here in a couple of years. The front nine was better maintained than the back nine. No big deal if you're a fan of daisies. And where's the fairway on the back nine? The rough from the tee box is a huge apron on many holes. And the fairways are narrow on some. Good price though. $33 senior. We pushed our carts as the course is very flat. read more

The last muni I have not golfed in the Bay Area! What a gem of a course. Short but well maintained with no cirque de solei holes that try to blow your scores up. Not a dog patch but a course that is probably kept hidden for fear of flooding it. Price is cheap and well worth the fee. Scenic as well and reminds me more of East Coast courses which are full of large trees. I highly, I highly recommend Sunnyvale for thise looking for a nice well maintained course. 0 stars Avoid This Place After Aeration - It Should Be a Crime I played here recently, only to find out after paying full price that the greens had been punched and aerated. No discount, no warning--just bumpy, inconsistent, borderline unplayable putting surfaces. Charging full price for that kind of experience should be a crime. I understand that aeration is necessary, but any respectable course either discounts rounds or at least informs players ahead of time. Instead, this place took my money and left me putting on something that felt like a gravel road. Plenty of other courses handle this the right way. Until this one learns how to treat its customers fairly, I won't be back. read more

Great value! 37 bucks for a mini and it wasn't very hot here today. Greens are slow but soft! Easy to walk this but on a hot day like today, a cart was worth it. Pace of play was really nice, finished 18 in 5 hours. read more

Solid golf course for the money, may be my go to when looking for an affordable 18 hole round under $40 in the Peninsula. Rentals for pull cart are $6. I was able to play a walking round in 6 hours mostly because a pair that joined our pair had one player taking like 10 practice swings per shot (*rolls eyes). Aside from the weird tunnel experience with some water drainage that links the two parts of the course together, I enjoyed this course. Fairways are in decent condition and are for the most part wide open - making it difficult to lose balls on semi-wayward drives. Greens are incredibly fast though, almost like putting on a marble surface but that seems to be par for the course for most muni courses. Will be back for sure! read more

It's been a while since I've played here. The price is not as good as Santa Clara on TeeOff and the course is not as well kept either. I tried it on a week day and it was slow, the fairways are hard at some, the grass is brown at some parts, the greens are bumpy. The golf course is short but quite challenging for me at some holes. It wasn't a busy day, but there are groups that are so slow holding the pace down tremendously. read more

BEWARE OF THIEVES AT THE COURSE! I GOT MY ENTIRE BAG OF CLUBS STOLEN AT HOLE #8!! On Wed Oct 16th around 3:30PM, I was playing at the hole #8 which is the handicap #1 hole next to the freeway. If you've played at the Sunnyvale Course, you know this is the whole where you have to cross a little bridge over the hazard trench to get to and play on the green. After we teed off the hole and riding cart towards the hole, this guy in his early 30's with dark skin, about 6ft tall & skinny walks towards us and asked if we've seen a club that he lost. We said we didn't and played on to the green, parking the golf cart next to the bridge as we normally do. While we are playing on the green, i saw this guys came back and crawled on to our cart and started driving. At first, I thought he was mistakenly taken a wrong cart, as some of us might do. So I shouted at the guy that it was not his cart. He pretended he didn't hear me and kept driving the cart towards the underpass. I felt something was weird and started chasing after him while shouting for help. But he was on golf cart and I was running and so I fell behind. By the time I ran through the underpass I couldn't see him any more, who drove right through the proshop directly to the parking lot. I borrowed a cart from an employee and chased him towards the parking lot. When I reached the parking lot, I didn't know which car was his but thought I would drive towards the exit drive way of the parking lot to possibly block him from escaping. And I saw him right there, parked right next to the exit, trying to load my and my friend's clubs into his car, but he saw me coming and got in to his car. I confronted him near the exit and tried to block him, but I hit on a break as a natural instinct right when the cart i was driving was about to hit his black compact sedan, and he backed off a little and sped off around me on Macara towards the Maude intersection. I later found out he only had enough time to load my clubs and my friend's purse and left the rest, including my friend club set in the cart. If I was a little slower then I am sure he would have stoled both of our clubs and phones, etc. This was the first time crime like this ever happened at a golf course for me - I want everybody to be extra careful when you are playing and make sure you take your cart key and belongings with you when you are playing hole #8 green and make sure to watch your cart. Apparently, he was waiting at the hole #8 and was asking the same questions to a few other players before us trying to pick the target. This is really not a safe situation for the players, so I wanted to let people know and be aware. I really like this course. It's a good goto course. Fairways are wide, the greens are well maintained. There are several holes with water hazards, but nothing crazy (no shots off the tee over water). My favorite hole is hole 18, slight dog leg left, greens next to water, but the sun hits the greens and water a certain way that makes you feel good, regardless of how well you played. They take care of the carts (look new) and the staff is friendly. There is no driving range here, but they have a putting green. I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet, so i can't comment on that. Every time i've golfed here, the people we are teamed up with are friendly. I have yet to run into a mean golfer here (i have at other places). There is a snack shack at the turn, and they serve the typical golf snacks. They did serve Spam Masubi the Saturday i played, but it's a bit pricey and it wasn't very big (looks like someone smashed it or sat on it). So if they have it again, don't expect and L&L style Masubi. Overall i'll come here (or Moffett) when i have time to play a full round. Note: I'm still new to golf and have a high handicap, so if you are looking for something challenging, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

I would give a 0 star if I could. Got there ahead of our tee time and the place was all locked up. The guy goes "we are closed" we said we are here ahead of our tee time. He goes my register closes at 5:52 I said good thing we here earlier than 5:52 and show the time on my phone. To which he responds "Maybe my clock is faster" The ego if this center has always left me disgusted. Guy wants to get off work early so cancels our family tee time on us and its overtly rude and disgusting. Shame on you all. read more

Pace-of-play is super-slow here, but even more so on the weekends. Everyone walks on this short, very wide, flat course, and no one is in a hurry. We never got called up on a par 3, when appropriate. Another reason to tee off early is no one repairs their bill marks here either. Get ahead of the inconsiderate players by teeing off early. (Due to slow play, I had time to repair six balls marks for every one of mine.) Carts must be retuned 15 minutes prior to sunset, so plan accordingly. Due to slow play, if you want to finish 18 holes with or without cart, give yourself 5 1/2 hours. read more

I don't think any of the traps on this course have been raked or watered in the last decade.

Beautiful course that's very well maintained. Long par 4s and a few par 5s. There's a bit of a bottleneck around hole 13 but that's to be expected mostly anywhere. Definitely will be playing here again. read more

The course is flat with few doglegs and the roughs are forgiving if you have trouble landing on the fairways. However, the greens are full of divots with little to no signs of repair. There aren't any marshals to urge players to move faster, therefore I couldn't finish all 18 holes before it got too dark and I'm a relatively fast player. It also didn't help that I had to return my cart at a specific time, which is rather unusual for a golf course. It is enjoyable for intermediate players, but plan your day accordingly. read more

Sand traps might as well be part of the cart path they are so hard. Tee boxes were strategically placed on root hills so don't expect to tee off on any sort of even lie. Fairways are pretty decent, but god forbid you hit it a yard off the fair and you've now ventured to Mars to hit off the rock and gravel. Also, no beer, no drink cart, no water refills around the course. If you're looking for a great place to take your worst enemy golfing this is it. It's going to be a no for me dawg read more

I played Sunnyvale today and found it to be in very good shape. The greens were tight and fast but without brown spots nor too many divots. The carts were in good shape. Not having a GPS system has it's advantages and disadvantages. I had to depend on my GPS watch to check distances but it also meant that the cart does not automatically stop when you get too close to out of bounds or the green, a pet peeve of mine. I'm going to include this course on my rotation. Hopefully, the restaurant will reopen soon as covid rules relax. read more

I'm not a golfer and the last time I played golf was in PE class in 7th grade. Does that count? Yes of course. Does it really matter? No because that was so long ago that I don't know what I was doing. However, there is miniature golf (which I've played a few years ago but way more recent than 7th grade) but that is nothing like golf on a golf course like this place. I was here for my company's golf tournament, and I figured it was something I could try since I heard a lot from my coworkers as well as a few of my friends talked about playing golf. I arrived outside of the golf store where they had practice areas for putting. I went inside to pay and it was $35.50 for me but I'm not sure if that's the price for the whole golf tournament thing my company set up with them. Anyways, my coworkers and I played all 18 holes and we got to drive the golf carts around. The one hole I thought was tough (and apparently it's the hardest one out of all of them) was hole #8. You can see the layout of the hole in the pictures I will upload. I thought it was a good golf course but I don't play golf to know what's good or horrible in terms of layout. I think it's still fun to play on though. There was a snack shack over near hole #3 and I was hungry so I ordered a regular hot dog ($3.75). I didn't start eating it until a few minutes later and that caused the bun to become a little hard. It was still edible though. In my opinion, it's priced a little high for what it's worth. Well, I was hungry so I can't complain that much. After we all finished playing the 18 holes, we went to the restaurant?/bar above the golf store to eat. We had like a mini-banquet of different food for everybody to eat. The burgers were pretty good and the chicken felt like it was missing some sauce (in other words it was a bit dry). Well kept tee boxes, greens and semi-open fairways will always keep me coming back! The upstairs bar was legit! Prices for an IPA was a bit steep in my opinion. Carts were spacious and quick. Hole 1 was fun. A little dogleg right for my perfect slice!!! Props to all the courses with dogleg rights in the first hole!!! The course is fairly flat, had a few bunkers that are avoidable and today's pace flowed nicely. I had no complaints. They have no range so beware. read more

Guy at the pro shop is an absolute pain. Showed up before the tee time but apparently not early enough. Not to mention the guy offered 0 suggestions to how we could possibly get on. At 945am on a Monday this guy is possibly the least helpful pro shop staff I have encountered. Went to shoreline afterwards and they were very accommodating after the guy said no other golf course would take us. read more

Worst golf experience in over a decade, every single home backed up at least 10 minutes, 4 groups bunched up on one hole going into hole 7, called the Marshall, they never cane after saying they would in 3 hours and fifteen minutes was able to play 10 holes. Terrible, not sure why they overbook to that extent. read more

Love Karaoke nights on Fridays 6:30-10 at their Macara Bar/ Restaurant with KJ Anthony Nash and BarTender Jasmine. We had so much fun and good sound system. We plan to celebrate our birthdays there next. read more

This review is for the golf course Condition isn't the best compare to other courses in the area. But again, you get what you pay for, and it's just a muni course, so I don't think we should expect prestige condition. The course layout is quite straight forward. There are only 3 options on tee box. The courses are mostly open but some fairways are fairly narrow. More water hazards than many muni courses. Bunkers are well kept, quite fluffy. Fairway was green and fair. Rough is about 1" high which makes it challenging. read more

This is a municipal golf course right off of CA237. The prices are reasonable and the people at the pro shop are friendly. The course is on both sides of 237. There is an under crossing that you can walk or drive a cart through to get to the other side. The greens are decent. It's a busy muni, so don't expect the same kind of course conditions that you might see at a private club or higher-end course; but don't expect them to be terrible either. read more

Good: played in ~4 hours on a Sunday. That's about it for the good. Not Good: No food or beverage for sale anywhere. Period. No attempt even made to have a snack shack or snack cart on the course. You'll get nothing and like it. Bad: Course conditions are really poor. Entire course is infested with crabgrass. Dead spots are everywhere, and most of them are right next to swampy overwatered areas. It's really bad. Bottom Line: there are WAY better values and better golf courses out there. Yes I know it's a municipal course. Los Lagos and SJ Muni are both in much better condition, have food and drink for sale, and offer a far better bang for the buck. read more

Yep, 3 stars and the average rating is no fault of the course. Greens and fairways are fine. Price and location are expected. Pace of game was fine. Reserve online without having to pay up front is a plus. Parking simple. Friendly staff. Snack bar at 3rd hole and 12 hole. Gopher holes off the fairway explains my lost balls. The thing that truely sucks about this place is the sound from the close freeways. Holy crap its loud af! It felt like I had been at a concert after 12 holes. Twilight and super twilight pricing make it affordable. Not sure if I will be back soon. read more

Course was in nice shape. Pace of play was pretty slow, they were backed up from the start. They realllllllllllly need a food/drink cart if they don't or can't have the snack shack/ restaurant open. Took 5.5 hours so you need a fuel up station. read more

This review is for the Pro Shop only. I went this past Saturday to buy a gift card for my father-in-law, who loves playing this course. When I got to the front of the line, I was informed I needed to wait for Jeff to finish gripping a club because he is the only one who knows how to load gift cards. After waiting for 10 minutes and not receiving an apology for the wait nor having the attendant ask Jeff to come help me, Jeff came back up to the pro shop desk (with what I think was a manager) to help a customer on the phone...buy a gift card of course! After 5 more minutes of Jeff not being able to help this customer, and the line behind me growing pretty long, the manager finally asked me what he could help with. When I told him how frustrated I was and explained the experience I had he said "okay", and said he could help get me my gift card. Not only was it a terrible experience, but there was zero concern for the customer. When I left, Jeff still hadn't finished his transaction with the customer over the phone. Sunnyvale Muni is a pretty good course; and if you are a Sunnyvale resident a great deal. However, if you have to deal with the pro shop I highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

What a dump. I play all the local muni courses and this one is by far the worst. Fairways and greens are in terrible shape. Played last weekend and there is no course supervision. Tee boxes were backed up 2 groups and no Marshall in sight. Lots of new golfers who need nurturing on course etiquette which is where the lack of Marshalls come into play. I've played Sunnyvale about once a month. Pace of play too slow. Too many groups fall behind a hole. Even a two-some we followed were out of position for 3 holes. Couldn't keep up with the slow foursome ahead of them. I asked if our Threesome can play thru, they declined, and they were in denial. I called for a Marshall, no Marshall on duty, so we have to marshall ourselves, and get into a controversy. Too bad. read more

This a a fun course to play on but lacks a couple of basic things such as ball cleaners at each tee box. Instead, there is a ball cleaner every three or four tee boxes. A snack cart does not exist as well so bring your own snacks. Fairways and greens are in an okay condition but not great. Plenty of parking and your car should be safe unless someone really shanks one high. read more
