Trash - giant tortilla with some bacon in it for $5.75
    Jonathan S.

To start, I hate giving small businesses bad reviews because I know how much it can hurt them, and most reviews people leave are negative which totally invalidates everything. However, after the owner almost tried to fight me after giving him nothing but respect prior, he earned this one. I called about 8 minutes before pulling up for two dozen burritos because I figured it would take a little longer. After paying I was asked to pull to the front and wait, totally understandable. Twenty minutes later I had seen over a dozen vehicles coming and going. So I walked inside to see how things were coming. He told me he requires a 20 minute heads up on larger orders and that they're trying to work me in. After spending $125 on breakfast tacos I'm not here to be worked in, and how am I supposed to know he requires a 20 minute notice? Nonetheless, I tried to be nice and explain I got them for my crew, and they were about to leave for their jobs. His only response was telling me to get out of his store. I simply turned around without a word and went back to my truck. When he came out to hand me my food he tells me if I ever show up trying to make an order like that again I'll be denied I asked why he was being so rude, and he walked off mumbling, "f**k you". I responded in kind, and he turns back around towards me as if he was getting ready to get physical and says, "Go f**k yourself and don't ever come back." This was my last day here on the project, and I had to apologize to my guys explaining it took 40 minutes for their tacos and what had happened. The guys are all from the area and are really familiar with the person I encountered. Apparently he's the owner! They also said he's a known drug addict, and he can act that way when he hasn't gotten his fix. One of the saddest things about this, is that since I've been in Big Spring over the last couple months I keep saying how great the people are. This guy gives the town a bad image, and makes a simple thing like buying breakfast tacos a dangerous situation. To top it off, the burritos are staright trash, and I didn't even get all of what I ordered. I was missing at least two that I could tell. Zero flavor and simple egg / bacon strips with absolutely no seasoning. I covered mine in the bland salsa to get them down. The pic is of the bacon, egg, potato, and cheese that I ordered. Do you see anything other than bacon and cheese? The first one was similar with eggs and two strips of bacon on the side. SMH $5.75 each.

The small half of a Brisket Burrito with cheese!

Every single visit makes me appreciate the quality burritos on offer from Sunny Side Up. Homemade tortillas, excellent selection of fillings, and a friendly staff sets this little burrito joint apart from any other in town. Make sure to stop by Friday-Sunday, and pick up homemade tamales or Menudo (I am not a menudo guy, but if you are, I'm sure theirs is good). Whether you get the carne asada (stew meat), chorizo and potato, egg and bacon, or the simple combination of bean and ground beef, you will not be disappointed. Yes, yes, you are welcome! I should add, because I only briefly mentioned this, that the staff are the kindest, friendliest people around. Always smiling and courteous with helpful recommendations and inexpensive prices, these folks want you full and happy.

Real good breakfast food. Quick service and great price. My favorite was the chorizo and my girlfriend enjoyed the sausage.

Must have gone on a bad day. Not much meat in burrito. Was more of the size of a taco. Not much flavor

But we will be back since the ambiance is a cut above the competition and the food was good too. From the start, the service set the tone. My server had that perfect balance--attentive, helpful, and genuinely engaged without hovering. It made the evening feel relaxed and easy. I started with the Parmesan fries because, honestly, who skips Parmesan fries when they're on the menu? They were crisp, flavorful, and just indulgent enough to feel like the right decision. For the entrée, I ordered the pan-seared salmon, and it did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning complemented the fish beautifully. The risotto was creamy and well-prepared, and the green beans had that fresh, crisp texture that tied everything together. The atmosphere added to the experience. Being set inside a beautifully restored historic property gave the place character. It felt like a spot where locals gathered--there was a familiarity in the room that made it feel like the place to see and be seen. And while it didn't hurt to walk in alongside the head of the local hospital (pure coincidence, and no, I wasn't a patient), the restaurant stood on its own merit. If you're driving through Big Spring or staying the night, Settles Grill was well worth the stop. It's a place where you don't "settle" at all--you simply have a very good meal in a setting that feels both welcoming and established.
