But we will be back since the ambiance is a cut above the competition and the food was good too. The chicken fried chicken was very good, made with breast that was moist and tender and a generous serving of cream gravy.

From the start, the service set the tone. My server had that perfect balance--attentive, helpful, and genuinely engaged without hovering. It made the evening feel relaxed and easy. I started with the Parmesan fries because, honestly, who skips Parmesan fries when they're on the menu? They were crisp, flavorful, and just indulgent enough to feel like the right decision. For the entrée, I ordered the pan-seared salmon, and it did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning complemented the fish beautifully. The risotto was creamy and well-prepared, and the green beans had that fresh, crisp texture that tied everything together. The atmosphere added to the experience. Being set inside a beautifully restored historic property gave the place character. It felt like a spot where locals gathered--there was a familiarity in the room that made it feel like the place to see and be seen. And while it didn't hurt to walk in alongside the head of the local hospital (pure coincidence, and no, I wasn't a patient), the restaurant stood on its own merit. If you're driving through Big Spring or staying the night, Settles Grill was well worth the stop. It's a place where you don't "settle" at all--you simply have a very good meal in a setting that feels both welcoming and established.

You will see a large embossed Dahmer imprint on a facade, there, you have found it. I sat outside of here for about a good 5 minutes before figuring out it was a place to eat. The letters and food pictures how far away will try to give you a little hint. Once inside, it's like you stepped into a well-lit club or something, everybody turns around and looked for a few seconds and then goes about their business. The staff here I must say are very very friendly and accommodating. Three quarters towards the back you will find a buffet and salad bar. There aren't your usual salad friends and then on the buffet there was some betta fish, kind of chicken fried looking steaks, pot pie in a square pan, mashed potatoes and gravy, shrimp and a few other Comfort foods that you'll see in their picture. The taste of everything was okay I will leave it at that. The price of the buffet comes shy of $15 if you have tax without a drink. The interior is a definitely no frills type of establishment with the old wooden floors, Mel's Diner type tables and such. It's worth a try but do not expect high expectations.

My family was craving wings, and this restaurant came up in our search. Unfortunately, choosing to…read moreeat here was a decision we would later regret. A more fitting name might be "Wild West Wingz and Bar," because it definitely felt more like a bar than a family restaurant. There's a reason the interior is so dark--it seemed to hide how dirty the place was. The restrooms were especially filthy. Considering the premium prices they charge, customers should expect a clean environment. The staff, however, was friendly. I ordered an iced tea, and our server actually advised me against it, saying it "nasty", that I probably wouldn't like it, and that it came from a bag. I appreciated her honesty and ordered water instead, only to later discover they charge for tap water. When ordering, I asked for recommendations between their sandwiches and the fish tacos. The fish tacos were recommended, so I gave them a try. When the food arrived, the tortillas were cold, and the fish had been chopped up in the tacos. Later, the waitress asked how I liked them, and I told her they were mediocre. She then explained that the kitchen only cooks one fish fillet and splits it between all three tacos (what!). She even commented that she wished they didn't do that and that the tacos were larger. For $14, receiving what amounts to a single fish fillet divided into three tacos is disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, questionable value, and underwhelming food, I CANNOT recommend this place, go elsewhere.
