Not too many places in Big Spring serve tortas, lengua, or barbacoa. In fact none that I know of serve lengua or tortas. The barbacoa is superb. It is drained pretty good and the flavor is perfect. Lengua is a delicacy that is hard to get right. Tio Lencho's does it right. The carne con chile (stew meat with green chiles) is amazing, I don't even have to add any hot sauce. The asado is equally good. Be prepared for really spicy asado & carne con chile, this isn't the Tex-Mex stuff people are used to eating in Big Spring. The rice isn't your typical orange colored Spanish rice but the flavor is amazing. Also beware of the red sauce. It's the hottest chile they make. Most other places the red sauce is mild, not this one! Tamales and tortillas need to be ordered in advance and they are made fresh. The quesadillas are made with asadero cheese for an authentic flavor you cannot find anywhere else in Big Spring. I'm not a fan of the boiled chicharrones. Don't expect fried chicharrones. They just don't make them. This is the only negative thing I have to say about Tio Lencho's They are closed Sunday - Tuesday and close at 1pm daily so get there early or you'll miss out. Bring cash because debit cards aren't accepted.
