As others have already stated, this company is a SCAM! DO NOT BUY solar panels from them! Once you have an issue with their panels, you will experience their customer service AFTER they have your money, which as they stated to me via phone, they have no contractual obligation to fix your panels within any timeframe and no visibility into what the estimated timeframe is to service your panels. My panels are $50k and normally produced $220/month in electricity and have been producing $0 since 5/8/22 due to a bad inverter. I've called them at least 6-12 times and sent them a dozen e-mails to get this resolved. They are unwilling to provide contact information for a manager or supervisor. The agents stick to a script which engages the caller in a plethora of stalling tactics. The company only began returning my calls after submitting a complaint via the Better Business Bureau, but still they only call me to tell me that they are always waiting for some other department to do something for me and that I'm unable to be transferred to the department that is supposed to contact me and unable to call them myself. In Hawaii, they have 1 service technician to service the entire state. Not a coincidence that they have the minimum number of technicians not equal to 0. I now have a $50k paperweight. I sent am email to Sunnova customer service AND the CEO (John Berger) and they basically told me there was nothing they can do for me. They haven't even tried to determine what the cause of the increase was in my PG&E bill. I have been trying to do my own research and present them with my findings. If I could give 0 stars, I would. There are several reasons for this - 1. Today marks 11 weeks that we don't have the Solar activated in our new home and they cannot provide us with what the hold up is and what actions have been taken to take our case forward. The only reason we hear is "We are waiting for approval from XYZ" 2. The paperwork done by their interconnections team is done by very incompetent people. After writing clear names, addresses, and contacts for the name on the account, they got it wrong "3" times, and kept sending us incorrect documents to sign. When requested for a simple change because of incorrectness in the name or the contact, it took them weeks to get through it and send us another DocuSign to sign. 3. We tried to make calls to the Sunnova team but as mentioned above, there is no real help provided. All we get are some reasons that we cannot say anything after. It takes them "48 - 72 hours" to make inter-department calls/message responses. WHAT!!! read more

Of course per them & the contract the roof warranty is only a year even though a contract (which we never signed) says 25 years! Also the system stopped communicating with them it took almost a year for them to fix that but right after they did, my electric bills were $400 $700 & $900 & $500!!! PSE&G said there are months that the system wasn't even getting solar credit. And sunnova is charging us more per kWh than PSE&G!!! I wish I had researched Sunnova more before I decided to use them to add a solar battery system to my existing solar panels. They were quick to reach out and build a quote, and I'm still within my original window to have the system installed, but there have been two appointments that they completely blew us off on with no response. 1st appointment: Representative was coming out to do a site survey (coming from LA to Chula Vista) so they could start the system design. The window was 9am-12am. At 1230 we were texted and told they were running late due to traffic from LA, and told it would be another two hours before they could make it. It was aggravating, but we agreed to wait. Another hour later they texted and said the traffic was not moving and they wanted to reschedule for the next day (Sunday). Tried to call the number they were texting from but they wouldn't answer, and when we texted back to say we have wasted the entire morning and didn't want to waste the rest of the weekend it took another 2 hours to get a response agreeing to come anyway. A quick view of traffic on the maps app showed there was no traffic accidents and this seemed to be an excuse. It was 5:50 pm before the technician arrived. 2nd appointment was scheduled between 10-1 on a Saturday, and at 1:30 we called and asked if everything was ok because we had not received a call or notice about them running late. The person on the phone said the tech had not left any updates but the appointment was still active, so "just wait". They never showed, and we wasted an entire Saturday, again. At this time, having not received any type of customer service at all, I would not recommend this company to do anything with my home at all. I'm very close to starting over with a new company. I must add yet another Negative review for Sunnova energy. Not only are they completely incompetent but they're totally inconsiderate of their customer's needs. We signed our contract with them in September of 2022 and had the system installed earlier this year. Soon after installation we had a heavy rainstorm that resulted in leaks into our home due to tiles that were broken during the installation. Note the picture. Sunnova Has dispatched technicians from 4 different subcontractors to inspect these leaks to verify they were caused by the installation. All 4 contractors did just that. Yet now 5 months after my initial complaint Sunnova has yet to complete the repairs. . They've arranged for the panels to be removed but the do not have a roofer lined up to repair the roof. With Southern California looking at a rainy winter ahead this is not good Huge problem! Sunnova sub - contracts out for almost everything and they do not do any roofing work! In July, Sunnova sent a billing statement with an additional $127.15 on it and when I called to inquire, they 'opened a case.' Four months later, here we are, a lot of frustration and time spent on this, and still have not received a satisfactory resolution. As far as I am concerned, they bill fraudulently. Their billing department didn't even understand what I meant when I requested an itemization for all charges, fees, taxes for the disputed bill. How many other people do they do this too? ! I was reached out to by a representative from Vivint due to my services being provided by them and was informed about a solar service through Sunnova that can be offered I would just have to speak with a Sunnova Rep and hash out the details. Come the day of the agreed upon meeting the rep was 20 mins late first and foremost. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and had our meeting. We spoke about the services that they provided based off of the usage for our home and explained to me the process in which the solar will be installed at no upfront costs and that we would pay a flat rate which is our monthly annual average payment to our utility company and how we would save over the years based off of the way rates are increasing. He had asked us to sign documents stating that what we were signing were forms stating we agreed he had explained the beakdown of the payments once and if we agreed to the installation of the solar. So blindly we signed the documents with us not really agreeing to purchase the solar service being provided to begin with. A couple days later after waiting to be reached out to by their solar contractor we received another email with a purchase and installation agreement that was signed and dated the day prior which we signed off on our behalf stating the contractor will come perform their inspections and eventually deem if our roof is capable of the solar installation. Along with there being a 3 day notice to cancel or else there would be a restocking fee. So overall we never completely agreed we were buying the solar service because we were under the impression they would still come out to perform an inspection and we would be able to decide at a later date yes or no. With that assumption after receiving an email of the purchase and installation agreement as if we had agreed to the solar I immediately reached out to customer service to cancel everything. This is not how you should run your business. It's completely shady and the explanations were not transparent and we were made to believe we were just in the middle of potentially going through with the process or not until the roof was inspected. If that was the case then why would we receive a purchase and installation agreement from the contractor in which we never signed because we spoke with the rep last Friday and the document was dated for yesterday. The agreement also stated a 3 day cancellation period from the date the agreement was signed 11/14/23 where as the rep said we had 7 days from when the roof is inspected. They keep lying about everything, it gets to a total absurd when we do an e-signature for a lease transfer, and they keep saying 3 days later that nothing was signed! The contracting company to do the work is going bankrupt and Sonnova is not finding me a solution. My contract expired with them and is void as they did not finish the job before the deadline and they refuse to help me. Was told that Sunnova was the parent company and they would assign a new installer to oversee system. What can I say, after working here over a year I definitely learned being kind gets you absolutely nowhere in this company. Fair warning, if enter with a positive mindset, know that your spirit will be broken down with time. In my situation, my termination was a result of a rumor. My name was tossed around and used so I did what a normal person concerned for their professional reputation would do and went to HR. The HR team who claim they have "no tolerance for gossip or water cooler talk" did nothing but keep the person who was spreading the rumors employed while myself and another got the short end of the stick and were terminated. If you are considering working here, please prepare to have your character questioned and your etiquette on trial daily. They hire and fire people in a cycle and I'll guess the turnover rate is about a 91%. Truth be told, I'm surprised I even lasted as long as I did. The pay comparison between employees is also not ethical in the sense that you can have the same position, same job experiences, etc as someone else but they will still pay each you differently. In my time there, I'd seen multiple supervisors come and go. For this topic specifically, I'd like to go back to the "no tolerance for gossip" rule of thumb because oddly, the supervisors, who you'd expect to be the first to model this policy are the ones doing the most gossiping- and about each other at that. "Leaders" who call employees dumb when they don't grasp all the information of the company as quick as they'd like. Not all the supervisors here are like tyrants, but there's only a small handful who have genuine intent for the teams that they oversee. Sunnova does not want employees, they want robots. People who will step on others in order to move up in the company. People who will constantly work the "mandatory over time" for this company that will let them go and happily replace them the next day. If I could give Sunnova 0 stars, it would the most accurate rating. Look else where. You won't regret it. 1) service quality- the company that installed the panels broke several tiles. They also placed the panels right in front of the water heater pipe. Consequently, after a hard rain it, water seeped down and destroyed my water heater. They took no responsibility, so a long discussion ensued. The salesman gave me nothing but false hopes that they would look into. I ended up paying $3500 for a water heater, because we needed hot water. 2) Quality? The solar panels stopped working after 18 months. A part broke on 7/23/23. They did not respond until 8/4/23. 3) service request-Today is 8/25/23, I called again to ask when the part is coming in. Again the customer service said they didn't know, blaming the delay on the manufacturer of the part. This time I asked for them to email the work order so I can call the manufacturer. The representative said he would email it, but has not. 3) Value- Its not worth the money. My electric sky rocketed to $500 this month. My sister lives with me who has an intellectual disability and has type 1 diabetes. I can't afford the electric bill. It's the reason I had solar stalled. This company is the worst. Almost a year in and the system is still not operational but we are getting bills from Sunnova. This has been by far the worst decision we have made. We went on Generacs web page and they referred Sunnova. I encourage people to actually read these reviews and how Sunnova is destroying peoples lives. We own a small farm/hatchery and needed a back up system because we get power outages in our area. We incubate birds and and purchased a 150K system from Sunnova as a back up for the farm and our family. From A-Z the process is a nightmare. Mike told us that you get a government kick back and said it works exactly like a "child credit", that is a complete lie and the tax credit he sold as on we did not need in this economy. This the install took 8-9 months instead of the 2-3 months Sunnova promised. Then when finally they were done we thought we can get one with our lives. So far the system failed and broke down in every storm and as of now is down. IT HAS NEVER WORKED when we needed it too. We lost thousands of birds because our 150K back up system is trash. I would just ask you to actually read the reviews. They are billing us for a system that is not working and we are trying to see what can do and options we have. Here is an email that I just sent to customer service, which I'm sure I won't hear back from. I received a disconnection notice in Spanish from Sunova today. 1 - I don't speak Spanish. 2 - we signed up with Sunova LAST SUMMER and had no one returning our calls or emails after our TWO HOUR in person appointment with your representative who wore no mask at the height of a pandemic and proceeded to talk about it being a hoax during our appointment. No one ever installed solar panels on our roof (even though they were supposed to by November 2020). So you are disconnecting an account that does not exist. I really hope there is no outstanding balance since we never even received the product. I would rate our experience with Sunova a 0 out of 10, and plan to do so on every review forum I can find for terrible customer service and follow through - and now this. I was scammed into getting solar. I repeatedly told the salesperson that I was fighting cancer and preparing to go through chemo soon. I said that i could make better decisions after I finish chemo. Sunnova continued to call and push me through the process as I lay sick in my home from chemo. Now that I am done with chemo and recovering; I see that I have a 90k contract with them that was never disclosed. If it was told to me, I was too sick to understand. Now I am paying more on electricity that I was before solar. I don't remember signing anything or agreeing to anything. I can't believe the mess I am in. I was told that I will be receiving 23K as a tax break. That is to be seen. I don't believe a word of it. How can the government allow these companies to take advantage of the common man. I am a disabled veteran and have a Veteran home loan. How can the government allow its disabled veterans to be scammed in such a way. This breaks my heart. Let me tell you a little story about dealing with Sunnova. I purchased my first home in Los Angeles almost 7 years ago. The house came with solar panels that I was very excited about. Everything checked out and the lease for the panels carried over with the purchase of the house. Last year I started noticing some cracking paint in my ceiling. A friend of mine mentioned that usually happened due to moisture. We don't get much rain in Los Angeles... So I went up into the attic and noticed some spots where it was noticeable water had been leaking. I noticed that all of these spots were directly under the solar panels. So I reach out to Sunnova last year and get some sort of work order going. Or so I thought... I hear nothing from the company for a while, so I reach out again. Periodically, I get a text from a technician saying they're outside my house when I'm at work since they never set up an appointment. On the phone calls, I am told by Sunnova that their contractors will reach out to schedule an appointment ahead of time, and then reach out to me 30 minutes in advance of the appointment window to let me know they're coming. Probably 5 or 6 times, someone just shows up without warning. When I do catch them, they just snoop around the meter, check out the cracked paint, and never get on the roof. I found out a case for all of this was not created until July of 2020. 2 Contractors finally hopped on the roof in September of 2020 despite my persistent phone calls - mind you, this is water damage that I allege is coming from the panels, a serious matter that can easily cause more damage. It was at this point and the contractors telling me that I had to constantly reach out that I had some idea of what I was dealing with - a giant company that takes its customers hostage. Those contractors confirmed that the leak was indeed coming from the mounting bolts of the solar panels. They said they were going to write a report which would be on Sunnova's desk within the week. I keep reaching out and wondering when they're going to do something about the leak, hoping they'll get to it before the next rainy season in Los Angeles and keep hearing the same thing, "we've put in a work order with our contractors. We're waiting to hear back for a quote." Finally, someone at Sunnova gives me the contractor's info and I reach out to them directly. "We never received a work order from Sunnova..." This is November. It rains in Los Angeles. I send an email to the CEO John Berger directly (their company email structure is first.last@sunnova.com) and get a phone call from their "conflict resolution department" telling me the quote of $6500 is out of the 1 year warranty and that I have to pay it all... I email John Berger again, explaining the situation further and telling him that I no longer wish to do business with his company and to please remove the panels and cancel the 25 year contract that I'm 7 year's into because of how terrible the situation has been. I get another phone call from someone else at the "conflict resolution department" telling me I can't cancel the contract, that I would have to pay it out to cancel or they will remove and reinstall the panels at their expense, but I'll have to pay for the repairs and damages myself. THEIR SHOTTY INSTALL WAS WHY THIS ISSUE CAME ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE! So here I am, writing a Yelp review because my house is being taken hostage by Sunnova and do not wish this on my worst enemy. DO NOT WORK WITH SUNNOVA. They are just another AT&T, Disney, Spectrum coming to take advantage of you. There are better companies with more honest people out there. read more

1st after installation of the solar panels that had been approved with a signed contract, I was told I had to sign a new contract, with all the same information, just updating the installer information so that I could be turned on. I had to do it quickly so it could be submitted. They changed the contract, and lowered the guaranteed production amount. Which is much lower than originally agreed upon, and lower than what my household needs. 2nd, with my installer on the phone with me as witness, we called and asked if I made a huge payment, if I could rearomatize early, before the 18 months, and lower my payments. I was told all I had to do was call and rearomatize any time after the payment cleared. I paid them $65,000 payment, and then called to get the payments lowered. They now refuse to lower the payments in reflection of how much I sill owe, until next year. I have never a had a single positive experience with Sunnova. They won't give you any kind of idea when the issues will be resolved, why they can't detect problems and why the system keeps failing. The staff was extremely rude and have no business being in a customer support role. But of course Sunnova keeps forcing you to make payments every month even though you also have to pay the power company for power, because the system isn't working. There really needs to be a better recourse when a company doesn't provide the service that they charge you for. As you can see, there are many more 1 star reviews for Sunnova than. 5 star. Seems like they don't even try to resolve issues, but just hide behind incompetent customer support staff. A few things update about. For the debacle of getting the panels removed and reinstalled (to facilitate a new roof) I had to personally reach out to the third party installer Sunnova identified in order to get the work performed--Sunnova claimed they were waiting for a response from them but I had no such trouble. That work (from the subcontractor) went more or less as expected with regular contact from the subcontractor as it was negotiated and performed. Sunnova did not even serve as an intermediary point of contact and actually added confusion to the process but nevertheless it was eventually resolved. I did have a hiccup in the performance once after reinstallation but that was also resolved (again, with me contacting the installer and simply informing Sunnova). Fast forward approximately a year (End of 2023). I have a service interruption and loss of production; I inform Sunnova, and once they arrange to have a technician to come out two weeks after being informed, I am told that an additional service will need to be scheduled. After radio silence for a week I inquire as to what is going on only to be told "your installer is no longer partnered with Sunnova. Our team is working on getting a new vendor to assist you with your case" -- assuming we are referring to the original installer, we knew this a year ago when I had the panels removed/reinstalled since that was largely the impediment to getting that performed at that point as well. I suppose Sunnova's memory is short. In any case, I sent them the contact information for the vendor that performed the removal/reinstall just in case they had lost it--but it's now been 10 days since then with not even acknowledgement that either that was the missing piece or that perhaps this vendor is also not partnered (who would blame them?). I will be reaching out to said third party myself just to verify since I have no trust that Sunnova is offering a full picture. read more

If i could give negative stars it would be -10 stars. This company is horrible. For 4 months my roof has been leaking, i have emailed Sunnova multiple times with no response. I have made complaints to BBB and a lawyer. This is ridiculous that i need to go the this extent to get service from Sunnova. Absolutely horrible company and service. DO NOT USE !!! Does anyone know how we can start a class action lawsuit ? Sunnova, I first contacted you on Jan 27th, it rained again this past Sunday. By not responding you are causing more leaks to happen. When can you get the panels removed I have attached the roofer report and to let you know you are causing my home interior damage by not responding in a timely manner. I am asking that you expedite this system removal under warranty and repair broken tiles caused by installation immediately before more interior damage occurs to my home and personal belongings. I have attached 4 pictures where the solar panels are causing leaks into the interior space of my bedrooms along with the roofing report of leak damage. This is caused by cracked tiles during installation of the solar panels. There is no way a cement tile can crack under the solar panels unless it was done during install. I have found an attorney to help resolve this matter and have also made a complaint with the BBB. You have two weeks to reply with resolution so we can get this matter taken care of. If you do not reply then I reserve the right to have a local company in my area remove the panels so roof repairs can be made without forfeiting any Sunnova warranties. SCAMMERS! If I could give 0 stars I would. Sunnovas partner has set up multiple different businesses after defrauding people. They did not even have contractors license and didn't pull permits. Worst of all, installing a cool only HVAC on my home, leaving me without heat for a year. Sunnova promised to fix but after 9 months stated they won't. I have terminated my contract with them due to breach of contract. They refuse to delete my account, accept my termination notice, or initiate arbitration/legal proceedings if they disagree. I can't pay for services not rendered. In addition, thousands of people can't get their warranty service as promised by Sunnova. I feel like I dodged a bullet by no longer having a relationship with them. In addition, customer service is extremely rude, they cussed me out 2x over the phone. Avoid at all costs! Sunnova is a bunch of con men! Update: This is the standard Sunnova response to any complaint. They request the system ID and phone number but then will call you and be extremely rude and say that they've completed the project. I will not be providing the system ID or phone number anymore as I no longer have a contract with Sunnova, as I have terminated the contract. Please delete my account now Sunnova! read more

I opened a service request in July to have Sunnova technicians update the Tesla battery system because the signaling system was 3G and it was no longer capable of connecting via cell signal. The technicians were scheduled to do the work on December 1; all that was required was for them to connect an ethernet cable to the battery. I crawled through the attic and ran the cable for them so it would be hard wired to the router. The technicians no-showed, lied and said I wasn't home, even though 3 if us were home all day. I have spent two weeks leaving messages and the company only offered to reschedule me again three weeks out as a normal service request. They have no consideration for my lost time, my work on behalf of their technicians and the resolution desk avoids my calls and doesn't offer any special consideration. #crappycustomerservice read more
