No star for Sunnova. We rented our solar panel from Sunnova and we have been told they monitor our system because we rented from them. Edison company billed us for $500 for one day. We found out our solar system has been done for the last 5 months and Sunnova has not been done anything about that. I called the customer service and they told me there is a case for your system, but I don't know when the technician will be available. I requested to talk to any supervisor or manager, but they told me there is not any mangers or supervisors in the office and they don't have direct number. This is such a worst customer service. It seems their customer service is nonexistent. We have called customer service multiple times. We have requested many times to speak with someone who will actually listen to us and is able to help with a solution. Our system has not been producing (except for 30 kWh) since July 13, 2022. No one from the company has reached out to us...we only get to speak with very nice people who are not even in the US and can only forward our pleas for help to who knows who. One technician did come out on September 9. We were informed by him that he resolved our problem from his vehicle. No, the system is still not producing. Install was great. We added 12 more panels ,suppose to be well above are usage, got a email saying if we paid our state rebate early we'd get a 450.00 Visa gift card. That was October still haven't gotten yet. First they said we didn't qualify qualify then they say we're working on it. We sent them 7,800 that they said we'd get from the state. Just got our taxes done and we only get 800.00. I guess that's why they wanted us to pay early. Probably there is some super fine little print somewhere saying " if or but". Believe the horrible reviews for this company and STAY AWAY! Their panels destroyed our roof, they "fixed" it and the roof started leaking again.. We have been dealing with their horrible customer service, which is sourced out to foreign countries, for the last 4 months.. We have had 2 different contractors out to assess the damage and even though both have said that the original damage, that was done by the install of the panels, was never fixed properly Sonnova refuses to take accountability and fix the damage to our roof and ceiling ... Shame on you, Sonnova! This is the WORST customer experience I have ever had. I'm not one to leave reviews but it had to be done in this case. My story is similar to all the other reviews on here, system on my new build home has not been working for over 4 months and can't get through to anyone at customer service. They refuse if you ask for a supervisor and/or hang up on you. They pretend to schedule a service tech then no one will show up or call, if you call to ask about it, they can't answer whether someone was supposed to come out. I just want my solar working, I'm typically pretty patient. Now I just feel stuck with these panels on my roof and no where to go. Truly awful. read more

What will it take to have someone from your company return a phone call? I have been trying to reach your company since Oct 13 in reference to a " Notice to correct work" from city of Whittier, CA. They are stating that no permits are on file for the solar panels and to either remove them or submit plans and pull permits. I needed to comply by Oct 30 and you have not returned my call! Panel caused a leak in my roof. Instead of 3-5 days to get a response to my claim, it took 12 days and only because I called to get an update after having escalating the case a week prior to no avail. My warranty expired (only 1 year apparently) and now I have to wait 1 to 2 weeks to get a quote to have someone remove the panels while the roofer does the necessary repairs. Sunnova had our system installed about 18 months ago. There are supposed to be enough panels on the roof to run our house and pool pump. The system has yet to function properly. The PV error warning came on in Dec. 2021. They finally sent someone out to fix it in July of 2022. 8 months after notifying them of the error signal. They act as though all they want is your money. The company wants me to pay $7,000 to them just to remove the panels and they want me to fix the roof damage caused by their solar panels not being properly sealed by them. I barely write reviews but my experience with this company's customer service department was horrible. I bought a home with a paid off solar panel. The transfer should have been straight forward. It was not. First issue - Customer service agent told me they needed to pull my credit despite the fact that the solar panel was paid in full - rep said it's was necessary for whatever reason. Once my credit was pulled, he told me they could not transfer because there is an issue with my birthday not matching the credit bureaus (this is the first time I've ever heard of this after having 30+ credit accounts). When I asked again why this is an issue as the solar is paid off, he said, "oops, I guess you don't need a credit pull. " Then proceeded to give me instructions on the transfer. 2nd issue -. After following the first rep's instructions, I emailed them a copy of my draft deed and was told it should take about 5 days and nothing else was needed on my end. After 5 days I called them back to get an update. They told me that I should have called after emailing my deed so someone could attach it to a ticket. These instructions where not included from the original rep. Basically no one monitors the inbox. The 5 day starts from now. 3rd issue - after waiting another 3 days I called back to check status. I was nervous because of the initial screw up. Also I'm getting close to my scheduled close on home. Rep has no update and assures me it's in process. I asked if there was away to prioritize. She said no. Also no manager you can speak to. Just be patient. I reluctantly said ok. 4th issue - 5th day. I called back since I've had no updates and my closing date is now in jeopardy. Was told that it should be by end of day and that she will put a rush request in. She also said she would reach out to a s supervisor (pretty much everything rep #3 said was not possible). 6th day. Called again. Same story should be by end of day. My closing is now delayed. 7th day. Called again. Same story. However at 3pm I finally get the transfer afternoon. It's a 1 page docusign. I'm sure there more to it but it looks like it took someone less than a minute to prepare. Basically felt like no one cares at this company. I have yet to use the solar panels and even if they do work well, I would be super reluctant to deal with their customer service reps again. You are treated as a number and that's it. No one takes ownership to fix a problem. Lower your expectations when dealing with this company. read more

I have a NEW SOLAR SYSTEM that produced solar for about 1 month it now has low production. I have called Sunnova multiple times and finally got a service appointment scheduled in November yes months later only to find out when I called to see where tech was since they were late that they rescheduled me without notify me in advance. I will be taking them to court. They lied to me... They knew I had trees all AROUND my home. They said if I went with them they would take care of the trees. The panels are in the back of my house and I have woods behind my house with high trees blocking the sunlight, instead of cutting those trees down they cut the trees on the side of my house I would not recommend this company they are a rip-off I will be taking them to court in the future if they do not do the right thing by me. It's supposed to be saving me money on electric bill so far it's cost me way more because now I have an electric bill and also my monthly payment on the panels of $75 my electric bill for the past 3yrs of every year since I've had the panels my electric bill $183 on top of the $75 that I pay them for the panels I have monthly electric charges anywhere from $60 to $280 when I was originally on a level payment plan for 12 months what my electric company Jersey power & lights I was only paying $129 a month now I'm paying way more spare yourself the aggravation I'm going through what I'm going through the use momentum in the beginning to sign me up with sonova I'm locked into a 25-year contract which I will be taking them to court to fight to get out of and to get all my money back that I put out in electricity that I was not supposed to be paying for I was told by sanova I would only be paying a service charge 2 JPL of $3.95 so far I have not seen a bill for $3.95 I've seen my electric bill go from $70 - $60 - $130- $183 since I've been with them and I've been with them for three years I've been putting in complaints for the past three years and they've done nothing so it's time for me to do something like take them to court reporting to the better business bureau and reporting to consumer affairs they're a scam stay away from them. I wish I could give it NO stars. This is the worst company ever. A lot of words and promises but NO action. My solar was was out for 3 months and I had to pay extremely high prices. They said basically NO compensation. When I had the panel installed I found I was paying the same as when I did not have the solar....... sometimes higher. I listened to all their excuses to no avail. only to finally find out they did not install enough panels for my home. This started in August of last year and they are still working on my system now in March. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I bought my solar system from them ahead of selling my house. The process was horrible. I had to call and email multiple times every step of the way to see progress made. I no longer live in the United States so I can't receive phone calls on my American number anymore. I repeatedly asked them to communicate with me over email and they just kept calling. It's now almost three months after I bought the system and sold the house and Sunnova is still sending me invoices. I've emailed them repeatedly asking them to stop and asking them to respond by email to tell me what the problem is. They have never emailed me back. I called in today and they told me that their legal documents don't show that I purchased the system from them. I was asked to send them the documents proving I had purchased the system. Let me repeat that- They asked me to send back to them the legal documents which they had created and sent to me months ago. It's like I'm in a relationship where my ex repeatedly has just one more thing that she needs from me and won't leave me alone. Please let me move on with my life, Sunnova. read more

This company is filled with lies and terrible customer service. It's impossible to get a phone representative let alone try to get an answer from them for their own mistakes. Recently purchased a home and tried to use them to add additional panels to the roof due to the home already having panels installed (California). Provide them more business. The sales representative was horrible. Hyped up a big game. Then never got back to us. Tried to contact other reps but no one was coherent enough to help. Then the in person rep was "sick" and unable to come out and turn our solar on so they called us over the phone to turn it on. No other explanations or assistance. We tried to log in to our assigned account but due to an error from the customer service rep they input the wrong email and we are unable to log in. Filed a complaint and issue and they stated they would work on it. Over a week later no response. Called back today and still more confusion and no answers to get our account assigned to us. I would not recommend this company. They outsource everything and if you want assistance they'll have to send a third party rep to help. So wait times are longer and less personable. Stick to a local company so you can atleast get service quicker. read more

I posted my first complaint about Sunnova and it's poor customer service and got a response from someone higher up in the company that was willing to help solve the issues I was dealing with. She wasn't that much help as I'm sure her hands are also tied and can't make certain decisions. Now they want me to pay upfront before the job is complete or has even started. I did call her back after she returned my call and left another message with my concerns but to no avail. I need to get a new roof and the panels need to be removed. I have had to postpone this once after giving them a six week notice and have rescheduled. Canceled a vacation because of their inadequate service and I want this work done before monsoon season. ( if we are lucky enough to get rain). I want the control to pay the electrical company direct after the job is done and not deal with Sunnova's customer service. This company is local with a great rating and if there are issues I feel I would get results. Unfortunately Sunnova drops the ball when it comes to the sub contract company Gayou Construction they utilize for installing the Tesla Powerwalls. It's been a nightmare from the initial design of the project until now in which they can't get it right with installing the proper transformer to power the solar generation while I'm off grid utilizing the powerwalls. My Sunnova sales rep (Brianna Grant) doesn't return my calls as if she doesn't want deal with the issues that are at hand with Gayou. Gayou requested I allow the City of San Diego inspection to follow thru while the project is not complete. Auto-debit has kicked in already with Sunnova. I'm paying for a product that I can't yet utilize. No one cares after you sign the contract. read more

I always wanted solar panels. I was excited when my house came with them. I never expected to have an experience I can only equate to scam artists. I make appointments for servicing, they never show up. I call to ask what happened their customer service cannot speak to dispatchers or see anything in my account. Ive been waiting for over 2 months for them to investigate a hissing noise the panels are making, they've not shown up to the 4 appointments they gave me. I call to complain but all they'll do is make another appointment. My children are afraid to sleep at home now because they think the house will burn down at any time. I'm literally trying to get them to fix these panel so I can sell my house and never have to deal with this company again since I cannot afford to remove them. At one point of speaking to yet another supervisor I threatened legal action and he said "We get sued all the time, I'll give you legal's info" I feel like that speaks to how this company operates. I live in Hawaii and our PV system sucks. First our system was under sized by a sales rep that just took his Commission and ran. We been having issues from the start. Very poor and lame service when we call their customer service line. I strongly DO NOT recommend getting yours PV system with them. Notation:2 Issues- first your sales rep Andrew under sized our system. I told him that we needed two battery packs from the start. He said he would make the corrections but he never did. He also said since he made the mistake, he would refund his commission back to us. He never did. Second: the system took weeks to install. Third: we've been having issues with the system not working correctly. Note: your customer service line never returned our calls with updates on our issues. Overall poor rating all around. We were informed that when the power grid goes down, our panels shut down and don't Produce power for our house and battery pack even when the sun is out. I have Sunnova for few years. This year the converter went bad. The technician came and told me in April that it was necessary to change it. It could take a couple of weeks to install the new one. Time has passed, no signal of the converter despite of several calls to the technical support. Now is the end of July. I have been paying two bills: Sunnova and the power company. My bill triple and they do not seem to care. They say that they have the equipment, but I can tell there is a lot negligence of assisting their clients. I feel that the only way they hear me is by filing a complaint at the Attorneys General. They enforce their part of the contract, but do not care about their clients. read more

I just contacted the support phone number on my inverter, a Sunrun number, to be told Sunrun has no contract for my Sunova installation. Sunrun was nice enough to transfer me to a Sunova support line. Sunova contact could not give me their support phone number but said they had my ph number and would call if disconnected. Sunova has the photo of a suspected non performing panel i sent to them, i will post below. They said they would assign to a technician who would call me for specific appointment. I asked when could i expect the call. He stated maybe 3 weeks but not for sure. I stated that is unacceptable, especially as it was just a call back to make an appointment. I had 51 solar panels installed on our home in 2019, at a cost of more than $52K paid in full. Since that time the system has been nonoperational for more than a combined total of nearly five (5) months primarily during the late summer, early fall months which of course are some of the peak days of energy production (sunlight). The result over each of the last two years is we have had to pay for an electric bill (Baltimore Gas and Electric) of nearly $400/month with a "$52K roof decoration; "Sunnova points to the total production warranty versus my direct loss actual costs" and Trinity (Service/Installation Company) points to Sunnova. I have sent them my bank records, confirmation emails that they sent me of receiving the payment, and screenshots of the payment posting to my account with the confirmation number, and they still refuse to acknowledge and take the balance off my account. Now I'm accruing late fees and they will not put me in touch with a manager. They actually refuse me the option to speak to the next level up.
