Their process to transfer account to new owners after the sell of your house is lengthy with unnecessary steps. You send documents into customer service more than once. YOU are the only one calling to confirm process is completed, with multiple calls. You CAN sign up for autopay, but when you try to stop they process, you must call customer service and put in a help ticket which takes 3 billing cycles to complete according to their representative. We have solar panels that have not been working for three months and still they have not fixed them. All we have asked is for them to come and fix their equipment and they will not even do that. 1. I was offered a system which generates 15,357 KWH annually with a guarantee that the system will produce at least 85% of the estimated production or I would be offered a refund or credit for the difference. 2. I signed the contract with SUNTUITY which is a contractor for SUNNOVA, on 06/25/2022, also as part of the agreement I was expected to take down 6 trees from my property as these were casting a shadow on the roof where the panels were supposed to be installed. 3. Since my property is adjacent to a protected conservation area, had to go through multiple hoops with the town authorities to seek permission to cut the trees, eventually the task of cutting the trees was completed in Q4'22. 4. I kept following up with Suntuity for the installation, however, never got a confirmed answer on dates. Eventually, when the dates were confirmed, the process dragged on for months along with pathetic scheduling. 5. Every person involved would state something and the outcome would be something else, e.g., the scheduler would call up and state that the work is only required on the exterior and no adult is required at home however, when the technician would arrive, he would state interior access is required. Between me and my wife we had to take nearly 4 days off in total due to these unplanned requirement(s) 6. Once the panel installation was completed, we were told that someone would come for inspection and then install the meter and then the town/ utility company representative will come and connect to the grid. It's been more than 4 months; it has not happened. 7. In the interim I was given a revised contract where the production capacity was reduced from 15,357 KWH to 12,260 KWH for the same price. For which I was not given any logical explanation. The reasoning I was given was that underwriting stated they felt there was still some shadow from the trees, whereas I cut down the exact same trees that Suntuity asked me to take down at the first place. 8. When I refused to sign, they offered me a credit of $2500, which I was told would be paid out as soon as I sign the revised contract. I signed the revised contract on 07/31/2023 and today as of this note, its 09/09/2023, I'm yet to receive that payment. When I called to enquire after multiple follow-ups, I was informed it will only be paid out once the system is operational. 9. As of this date, I have not been provided any ETA on when the system will be operational however, Sunnova still went ahead with generating an Auto-Pay for my monthly dues of $210. When I called Sunnova's customer care, I was simply asked to talk to Suntuity as it was their mess-up. I was told that Suntuity updated the records stating the work has been completed. 10. Its been more than 14 months, both Suntuity and Sunnova cannot get a system up and running, yet have the audacity to charge the customer for services they are unable to facilitate. read more

We got quoted $700 and wants us to pay to prevent pigeons from getting in. Sunnova does not want to take responsibility when their sales men guaranteed us. That's the whole reason we went with Sunnova. Also their workers to install were no call and no show. We took time out of our work to wait for Installation. Sunnova is a joke. Avoid them. I would rate negative or no stars if I could! This company is absolutely the worst. I ordered two tesla power walls for backup storage over 15 months ago. It was stated items were in stock and that the project should finish within 2 months but could take up to 6. 15 months of calls for follow up and status and I am always met with the same replies. We don't know we will have to ask for status from the program manager. I asked for their number and email and they wouldn't provide it. I asked for a follow up call from the PM and never got one. I've asked to escalate the situation to a supervisor and manager and they claim they can't transfer over the phone and they need to put in a ticket for a call back. I never get a call back. You get put on hold and state they will call back and they never do. Claudia tabarez was the agent that took my order and once I signed paperwork she stopped emailing, taking calls or even replying to voice-mails. I've called on several occasions and you can just hear the team in the background joking and laughing. When I was speaking to Marissa she ignored me on the call and just joking and laughing with the rest. She was very unprofessional and hung up on me and wouldn't answer the call when I called back for 30 min straight. No one is helpful there and the staff is poorly managed and uninformative. I even bit the bullet to see about getting a quote for additional panels and I got told that I need to call a different number. They pushed me around a circle of about 4 different numbers. Most were disconnected. I finally reached the "correct" sales team (apparently there are about 4) and she Yolanda couldn't provide me with a quote. Instead she stated that she makes the appointment for someone to call me back. Guess what happened? No one ever called. I called a few days later to follow up and Yolanda doesn't answer her calls or replies to her voice-mail or email. Other agents claim they can't help and will not have a sales person call me. They just claim they don't know status on a sales call back and refuse to submit another form/request. I don't understand how this company stays in business....I've spoken to well over 3 dozen people and I can never get an answer to a status update a quote or any useful information regarding my order. Last year when we were just months into the project, the update I would get is the sub contractor placed drawing and requested the permit from the city in June.....thst was the update for 7 months, that they were waiting for the city. I went to my city department to verify the permit submission. The permit was initiated in October not June. Then the sub contractor didn't submit it correctly and the city replied back within days request the correct info. The sub contractor finally submitted it correctly in Jan and days later the city approved the permit on Jan 18th. I followed up several times with sunnove reps and they were still giving me the updates from the PM that stated they were waiting for the city. When I corrected them with the information and the dates. They woul regurgitate the information I provided for subsequent calls. Imagine calling to get status and they act like they pulled it from your account. Only its information I provided to them months earlier. So the sub contractor they used is Source the Sun. Then that company sun contracted to PAG Solar out in Temecula (I can't find any information online about this company). They called me to schedule the work the next day and they never showed up, then they said we should know by Monday and I never got a call. I've called several times and left voice-mail to Jennifer. She didn't call back. I texted her to a message she had sent me and she replies back with the same response of I need to see when my boss will schedule the work. They have had my contract for 3 weeks and scheduled it once then can't seem to get me back on the schedule. This has been a real disappointing experience. I would recommend no one using Sunnova. When we went to refinance our home, they double downed on charging us the $300 UCC fees for a total of $600 in fees!!!! In summary, Sunnova is a terrible company with the worst customer service I have ever dealt with and the professionalism is so subpar it's indescribable. I do not recommend ever considering this company. The previous owner of my house was in his 80's when Sunnova installed the system on the house in 2015. He passed 3 years later and I bought the house in 2019 inheriting the solar lease. As part of the sale, I had the seller pay off the prepayment lease and wanted to buy the system, but Sunnova wouldn't sell it before 5 years. After numerous calls from to customer service from me, my agent and the selling agent, we barely made it to close escrow in time waiting on this lien on the house. Every call we spoke with a different rep who had a different opinion and understanding of the situation. In early 2020, I refinanced my house and had to pay Sunnova another $300 to become secondary to my new mortgage a process that took two weeks on their end with zero communication until the last minute before we closed, they again barely did their part for me to meet my timeline. Early this month (March 2020) I had a roof inspection and found that I need to replace my roof. I knew this would be awful and dreaded calling Sunnova because it's been such a miserable experience every single call I have to make. On Monday March 16th I called asking for two options, one, the cost to remove my system and reinstall after the roof work is done and two, to buy out my system. A week goes by and I don't hear anything from Sunnova and I call back Tuesday March 24th. I ask the Sunnova rep about my requests and she says only the quote to remove and reinstall my panels was documented in the call (the rep in March 16th didn't even note I was asking for a buyout) and when I repeated that I wanted both quotes she said it would take 3-5 days to get the estimate to remove and reinstall my panels. I asked what was taking so long because I had previously called 8 days earlier and still didn't have an answer. After the call (March 24th) I emailed customer service asking for the same two options. They responded on the 26th with: "Please be advised that a temporary system removal case is a lengthy process and may take up to 40 days. Your Temporary System Removal case number is Case-X. We are not able to provide a generic quote for the system removal due to factors such system size." Sunnova quoted the job, had engineering build the specs, got the permit, order the equipment, installed the system on my roof, and still owns all of that, yet they respond that they don't have all the factors such as system size. I still don't have a quote or timeline to factor in for my roof repairs and haven't heard anything from Sunnova that's helpful. I called twice on Friday March 27, and asked again, but was told I couldn't get more information again. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, I was told it was impossible and that someone wasn't there. I was told a supervisor would call me in 24-72 hours. When I requested an email follow up to confirm that a supervisor would call me, I was assured an email would be sent. It's been 24 hours and I don't have a call or email confirming a call is coming. Sunnova hasn't helped answer any of my questions, has wasted hours of my life on hold to give different answers every time I call, and hasn't called me back showing they take my concerns as a customer seriously. I would like nothing more than to have these panels off my roof and never deal with Sunnova again and don't recommend anyone ever work with them. read more

We have been SUNNOVA customer for about 3 years and they have made a mistake on their installation of our breaker system which causes electric shortage in the kitchen and they also connected the AC unit to the living room lights. we have called them 6 times in the past 5 months to have a technician to come down and fix the problem. they keep sending an email saying we called and you didn't answer, which is not true. when you call their customer service, they keep giving us a new claim number but there has never been a follow up to fix this issue. their customer service is not responsive or caring for their customers. read more

I had Sunnova solar panels installed 5 years ago. Was told then that if I needed them removed and reinstalled for a new roof that the cost would be $550.00 to $600.00 which I knew then was a lie. I got a quote from one of their approved people to have the panels removed and reinstalled and it came in at $11,000.00. Even with Biden's current inflation, that is a big jump. So, I got my own quote, $6,014.00, from a reputable solar company and submitted the proper forms to Sunnova for approval. After two weeks called to check on the status and was told that it could take up to 3 months for the approval process. I don't know what takes 3 months to check out but, I find this very hard to believe unless they get a cut from their approved people and don't want you to shop around. the $11,000.00 quote is more than the quote I got to replace the entire roof. read more

Their own workers finally acknowledged the panels were no good, disconnected everything and put their OWN lock on the meter and system months ago. SunNova is still sending us "ESTIMATED" bills every month saying we are producing. HOW? Nothing is hooked up. You have a lock on everything and its turned off! They are a nightmare to deal with. The worst customer service. They installed the system Feb 28 2020 and unknown to me the system did not work for 10 months. Now I owe 3200 to Edison. When I asked what the company is going to do about this situation... they said after Feb 28 2021they will review the issue and they will cut me a check within 3 to 7 business days. This was a statement from the supervisor over the phone. On March 15th I called again because I did not receive anything. I asked to speak to a supervisor, they said it will take 24 to 48 hours....I'm still waiting... I did speak to someone on the phone, they stated I would hear something on the 17th of March because it was the new billing cycle. I called again on the 18th and now they are saying it will be 2 months! Unbelievable! They installed a product that did not work from day 1, and now I will have to pay Edison at a higher rate because of their mistake. I am currently speaking to an attorney to get out of this terrible contract. I will keep you posted. They finally reached out to me and said it is going to take 2 additional months to review my account. On top of that they stated that it would be CREDIT on my account not a check. Now I am stuck with a 3200.00 bill from Edison. This company continues to make excuses and push the date back. I will update this in a month and see if I received the credit or not. FAIR WARNING!!! I worked for Sunnova for about 4 months. It was in this time that I learned a lot about how a company can literally destroy the joy of working and your self esteem. When I got hired it was such an amazing experience, the environment, the cubicles and the offices were all so exciting and the general demeanor seemed very professional. (DO NOT BE FOOLED) It was not until the training began when I started to see this company was a mess, they have all these modules that are hundreds of pages, they expect you to learn them with very little time and preparation even though its a month the amount of information they provide does not match the time needed to fully grasp the entire information. I was warned before training began by employees who had completed the training how stupid and much this training did not help anyone. Because I was one of the few "lucky" people that was able to stay some hours afterwork; I was able to get OT and work the hours that I wanted and honestly the pay for me was not an issue, or the hours because I was and still am a person that likes to work OT, that wasn't the issue. The main issue was the gossip, and the amount of unprofessionalism that the company employees have, it's complete horse sh!t. My supervisor at the time (PLEASE BE WARNED) if you work with her and she does not like you, congratulations you are probably being replaced like I was. Sunnova only cares about working the absolute sh!t out of you and that's about it ... back to the supervisor ... if you work for a lady that looks like she has man beard, and crazy AF dry hair NEVER EVER tell her anything. Do not tell her how you feel, how you are doing, what you think, what your thoughts are. Just FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT. She will use this against you and use it to fire you. She is always talking to her supervisor and she is always listening to what she can use against you. She comes accross as nice but is a sheep in wolves clothes. In instances others have heard call people dumb or stupid for simply asking for help or assitance. When I asked for help, most of the time she looked annoyed .... How I was let go, was rather interesting and becasue of her, she assigned me this task without any training, yet she advised me on how to correct my erros but there was never a "formal" training, I was just told what to write in the tasks that I did not understand, and when she was not around, the people that would help me had different ways of doing it so it was never consistent. She is very manipulative and again will use anything to fire you or get you in trouble. I had a couple of friends there that warned me about her and at first I gave it the benefit of the doubt but the more time I spent with the company and her, the more and more I never trusted her, even when she claimed she was checking in or seemed interested in what we needed she was only being sneaky to get something against you. I never got good vibes from her. It's sad when you can't even trust your own supervisor, becasue how they are. One would think that they can rely and trust their leader but with her, NEVER. I would rather just not say anything and ask someone else who could help. Be ready to stressed AF, if you work the call center. Customer are ALWAYS pissed off because their roofs are damaged and in the end the customers end up with a system on their roof, upset and paying off something the completely hate and that they are stuck with literally for 25 plus years. I would leave work and even be at work stessed and woud cry in the restroom, at the time I would not have admitted this to my coworkers becasue I did not want to seem weak because I really tried to make this work. I also found myself feeling like the customer dumpser for their frustration, which brings me back to the training.... they do not prepare you to deal with the real life scenarios you will face. I was essentially let go, because I was "late" which I was not, but then through my friends I later found out was because this manager showed the errors she found on my work, which she taught me how to do and close ... If you are about to work for this company or are already in the early process of working in this company DO NOT be fooled by the people, or what you see. Keep to yourself, TRUST NO ONE!!! Keep to yourself as some workers (not all) will stab you and betray you. Its really shocking to see that they let go of their good employees, while the sh!t starters, backstabbers and those who are out to just fire or hurt (not in the literal level) are still there. I had an employee thrown me under the bus, based on a rumor to other employees, becasue she was using that against me only becasue I had seen her smoke weed in the company grounds and outside the company, so she was using this as retalliation to protect herself, even though I was never going to rat her out ... yeah. The end result is that I have a roof that leaks, my master bedroom is nearly destroyed and I am out $38k + to repair ceiling, walls, wood floors, mold infestation and I have not started on the roof yet. The roof cannot be certified to sell this property because the roof tiles were broken off at the attachments to install the panels and then 'glued' back in place. I am getting prices of $50,000 PLUS to replace the roof which is a hardship and has increased my (being silly but not too far off) cost per kilowatt on my solar system to $100 each (made-up number but you get the idea). The tile glue has universally failed and neither Solius NOR Sunnova have (will not) honor their warranties instead have spent 100% of their time shirking ANY responsibility. This is disgusting behavior and I will recover financially but MOST lower-income households will never recover. Below is an excerpt of my last (today) experience with Sunnova in which they issued a ZERO DOLLAR work order to start repairs on my home. This same company has already been to this property and sent a quote in TWO months ago to do the repairs but they receive a zero dollar authorization?? Most of these issues are subject to litigation now but here is enough to give you the flavor of their thinking. I'd like to think that with enough regulatory issues brought on by themselves their IPO from last month will have problems. I read that their CEO was an ex ENRON executive. That is in no way a threat, just karma. I have never used reviews before prior to making purchases but I hope that someone reading will avoid the pain and suffering caused by these kinds of problems. I should note that two of the three companies that have been dispatched by Sunnova are outstanding! They have been verbose with their account of these same facts that I have given here. This review is in no way a commentary on the industry but it is certainly one regarding these two companies. An excerpt from my note today to Sunnova: "I finally was able to reach SST in the last hour. True to form Sunnova has not approved their repair quote either. Your work order ********* is worthless because it does not authorize ANY repair; another deceptive business practice. The inattention by Sunnova to SST is THREE companies that have inspected the property, and THREE times Sunnova has dodged their phone calls with no information or approval given. I sold my home in May of 2022 and in turn went through the proper process to transfer the solar to the new owner. On my credit report it states I had late payments in May, June, August, September, October and November of 2022 AFTER the sale of the home. I reached out to their customer service to get this resolved as it was a mistake on their part. They have been giving me the runaround for 2 weeks now! Not only is this a terrible business practice but it's had a negative impact on my credit! If you're looking for someone to buy solar from, this is NOT the company. The day the company came over to install my solar panel thry left my house with bent, crack, crooked gutter. They laid a ladder on the gutter and then didn't even notice that they messed it up. I have to take a picture and send it to the company for them to come out and replace it they have file a case number and took them eight weeks for them to come back and replace my gutter. After 28 months of having my solar I had an email that offer if I do a full payoff they will send me a $2000 gift card. They claim that I will receive it within 6 to 8 weeks. I called eight weeks later and the customer service have no idea what I was talking about so I have to prove myself and sent them a copy of the email they offer me. He then have to file another case and tell me that it will take a few weeks for them to pick up the case, and take care of it. This is very unprofessional, I asked him if there is a manager or a supervisor that I can talk to he said no. supposedly there is a 25 years protection warranty on the solar. I still have another "22 years" this is going to be a headache.. please do your homework, and really think about this company. read more

We have had a leak in our roof for over a month - and a ticket open with Sunnova over a month to get them to schedule someone to come out and take the panels off so we can replace the roof. After numerous phone calls ( horrible wait times ) and numerous emails to "support", we have not had ONE contact from Sunnova on this issue. Roof is still leaking and damaging ceiling and flooring. We even did some legwork ourselves to get approval for some local solar installers that are willing to do the work ( this is an option in the Sunnova contract ), but they did not even answer those emails/calls. Please please please do not do any business with Sunnova, and check any local solar companies that might offload the management to Sunnova, which is another practice for local installers. Ask who manages your panels after install, and make sure it's not Sunnova. read more

In December of 2021 3 of my solar panels stopped performing as well as the others. So, I called to get them looked at. I called again in April when no one showed up or called for 4 months. Someone showed up in May, and said it could be a while to get the parts. I waited. In Sept, I checked on it again, and they sent someone out, who could not get on the roof, and did not physically touch any of the components in my basement, but all the same diagnosed it as a faulty monitoring system. Again we waited. They came back in January, and the same guy showed up, with a ladder this time, and got up on the roof and diagnosed 3 cracked panels, which coincidentally were in the exact positions that I had been seeing under performance for 13 months. He left, and didn't come back for 2 months, and after I posted to the SunNova Twitter feed for their CEO and made many calls they decided to replace my panels with new upgraded panels, and that happened in less than a month. So 14 months to get my faulty panels replaced. The reason I mention all this is we had a bill due on the 24th of April, and we mailed a check several days before that. I looked back at the previous 6 years, and we have never been late. SunNova started calling asking if we needed to make an online payment on the 25th!!! I find it curious when my system under performed for 14 months, costing me around $800 in lost production, that isn't a big issue, but USPS failing to deliver a check results in a collections call the day after it is due!! My experience with Sunnova was positive when they installed a solar system at my primary residence last year, but unfortunately, my recent experience with them was disappointing. Sunnova installed a 7.6kw system at my second home with a wrong layout and not according to the layout provided by Sunnova consultant at the design stage resulting in five panels being placed in a shaded area due using outdated satellite image by their installer.In addition the guarantee production at contract was around 5000 kw year which it's very low number for such big system while at their initial proposal was 9000 kWh/year , just so much discrepancies . Despite numerous attempts to contact their customer service department via email and phone, I have not received any responses. When I did manage to speak with someone, they either hung up on me or provided unhelpful responses. It is regrettable that Sunnova hires incompetent employees who do not support their customers or attempt to remedy the situation. It's the worst solar company ever. They sell you backup batteries for your solar. Run your credit and get you approved thrn they ghost you. They won't return your calls or emails. Worst customer service ever. They call you and make appointments to install your batteries but never show. You wait, and nobody will respond to your calls or emails. They do, however, send you holidays emails telling you how grateful they are for you trusting thrm to provide products and services. Useless doesn't begin to describe this company read more

Avoid at all costs. They've screwed over tons of homeowners with their solar leases and extra fees. They've stopped the sale of homes and pushed sellers to agree to outrageous fees by strong-arming them. I'm a broker and my last client paid 9k to relocate the panels. They ended up never re-installing them on their new home then lost them at their warehouse. They then sold their home and Sonova had attached a lien to their house even though they were never installed. They then forced the owners to pay off the lease for 29k with NO Solar Panels transferring because Sonova couldn't find them in their warehouse. They forced them to sign something saying they couldn't come back after them either so the homeowners had no choice to pay and complete the sale of their home or cancel the escrow with the buyer (paying damages) and take Sonova to court. read more

WORST COMPANY EVER ! On Tue, Feb 21, 2023, 8:03 AM Sunnova told me the quoted amount for the temporary system removal is $3.085.00. Please call (866.786.6682) or reply to this email if you wish to accept the quote. I have emailed and called you 20+ times since that date asking for transparency on the cost by providing subcontractor information and their quoted cost to prove Sunnova is not overcharging me as you have proven to be less than reliable and there were many items on the quote that i would be paying Roof Dr to perform. The BBB has discredited you and you have well over 100 complaints with BBB and well over 100 on Yelp. I do not need a roof inspection. I already have Roof Dr contracted, I don't know what i constantly need to repeat myself but here it is again. I need panels removed from the back half of the house so repairs can be made. I want a transparent quote showing subcontractor costs and the name of the company so I can ensure they are a reliable company with all insurances in place in case they fall off the roof so I do not get sued. Are you withdrawing the quoted cost from Feb 21st after i have emailed you for further information and asked when we can schedule ?? Why after 4 months do you need to schedule a roof inspection ? If there is no warranty why did you tell me that I can't find my own local vendor to remove the panels ? Why after 4 months and damage to my home am I still hassling your with less than stellar performance ? Please also tell me why i as a customer need to accept that your horrible customer service and standards have allowed more damage to my home by delaying answers to simple questions ? Why have i seen the exact same issue as complaint on Yelp and The BBB website ? I am seeing black mold develop after the rain and now that the temps are heating up. This is toxic to my family's health and I am holding you and Sunnova accountable for lack of good faith resolution in a timely manner which has resulted in more damage to my home and health issues. If you and Sunnova will not honor the quoted cost then put in writing that i can find my own local solar vendor to remove the panels so we can all move on and i can get the service I deserve from a reputable provider to ensure repairs and relieve my family from health issues caused by lack of engagement by you and Sunnova since my first email and calls to you on Jan 27. Well, for starters - the closing on my house is now delayed, because this company is sooooo slow! They captured my email address incorrectly, and was able to correct it over the phone - however she was unable to resend the files. Instead my request went into a queue, not to be re-emailed for 3 days (regardless of the 6 calls made by the team of people working on the mortgage and closing docs. I'm literally in tears, as now I need to reschedule movers, the internet installers, etc... Given the choice, I would not choose to use this company - their customer service sucks. read more

I would rate them zero if I could. We were stuck with Sunnova as part of a new home purchase. We have had a solar panel down since May - it is now December. Have attempted to schedule a repair repeatedly, supposedly our appointments are confirmed but nobody ever shows up. Customer Service is useless, they can't fix the problem and no management has been of any use despite our claim being "escalated" numerous times. Choose anybody else if you can. read more

Im very unhappy with customer service been provided to me. We request a transfer agreement on July 27th, to close the purchase of a house. She told us it will be ready between 3-5 business day. Which that's false and continue to call for an update to find out she put the wrong email address. When I ask to confirm the email address and still have it wrong! I even gave them a different email address or ask there any other way to sign the transfer agreement. Yet nothing resolved.. I have called multiple times and request a manager which they said manager will call me back in 24hr. That was false. Called again request to send to different email address. Still no response with the email. I'm very unhappy with the customer service been provided to me. The sell have sign their part of paperwork on 8/14/22 I haven't received my paperwork yet. Keep getting different customer service with false information. One guy suggested to get a copy of the seller transfer agreement and send to customer service email. Called back to make sure they got the email and I was told that's not the right way. Customer service gave me false information again. I'm so frustrated that I can't get a correct answer or a transfer send to my email! There no manager or supervisor (customer service claims) everything been recorded as they claim but nothing been resolved. So if there a manager out there feel free to contact me.
