Purchased a house and assumed ownership with Sunnova solar installed on February 24th. Billed for February 12th thru March 31st. Customer service couldn't pro-rate for the time I was not able to use their product. Paid for a product I couldn't use or benefit from, but Sunnova sure could. Might just be a few bucks, but its the principle on how business is handled. Not a great start to a fledgling relationship with this company. read more

Since then it hasn't been reporting. This was 8 months ago. Sunnova NEVER returns calls. Eva Chiapas from Sunnova FINALLY emailed and told me to call the roofing company. I really wish I would have seen these reviews before I foolishly believed the sales people who talked me into using this company!! The installation took forever and once it rained my roof leaked!!! For the past month and a half I've been trying to get the leaks fixed to no avail. The company who they contracted with, Kayo Energy, is even worse than Sunnova!! I can't get anyone to call back nor answer the phone. Even when I called Sunnova's customer service, THEY couldn't get ahold of them!! To make matters worse, my bills have been anywhere from 50% - 100% HIGHER since going to them!!!! After the first two expensive bills, I told them I wanted them to get rid of their system only to be told that I had only two weeks after installing the system to make that determination. HOW IN THE HELL could anyone possibly know until they've received a couple of bills if they wanted to continue or discontinue the system???? They basically threatened legal action if I turned off the automatic payment and the system myself. This is a follow up to the review I wrote last year Oct 2022. Virtually nothing has changed. The system is still not functioning properly, and we have no clear date for when a technician will be out to address the issue. Our multiple attempts to follow up via email are going completely ignored. In fact the only correspondence we've gotten is related to our monthly payment to Sunnova which shows that all the care about is getting their money. I strongly recommend that anyone looking into solar please do not consider Sunnova. In addition to our monthly sunnova payment we are also (because of the system they can't seem to fix) not able to get any benefits of a lowered electric company bill. read more

Worst company that I have ever dealt with. We got the panels but then had to move. In order for the sale of our current house to go through, our panels had to be paid off. Which I did. It's been 4 days since that payoff and they still haven't provided me the letter saying that they have been paid off. Because of this, I am going to be without a home as of tomorrow since the house we are buying was contingent on the sale of our current house. All they had to do was provide this letter and even after calling numerous times, they still haven't provided anything to me or the company were selling our current home to that says these things have been paid off. Everyone who want to work with them for a long term, be aware of their contract before signing. Before signing I confirmed again and again with sale person that i only have to pay 85.01 monthly fixed rate for 25 years. With that confirmation, i believed that i would make payment same price at no changes within 25 years. However, they charged me for $146.69. When i talk to them about the bills, the agent from sunnova told me that they charged base on the production, it mean if the system produce more, i have to pay more and if the production can't produce any kwh, i still have to pay 85.01 minimum. At that point, what does 85.01 dollars represent for? So why at the beginning there was nobody told me about if the system produce more than than the kwh, i have to pay more, nobody mentioned the system will be produce more than 5000kwh and the price would be gone up larger than $85. Started my contract with Sunnova last July, toward the end of the installation process the company that was hired to do the install lost their contract with Sunnova and the installation process was never completed, the company rushed to finish the job and left behind sloppy work. They tore out the sheetrock in my home to upgrade the breaker box and never completed the job. I have had a large hole in my wall for almost a year they also left lots of small drill holes in my siding where they attempted to secure ground wirers and then rerouted the wires leaving holes all over the side of my home. My house is currently being sold and Sunnova keeps giving me the run around and no progress is being made. they claim its the installers issue, I DID NOT hire the installers, Sunnova did! I was given a phone number of an contractor that they said would finish the process and after many phone calls with nobody answering and many messages left, I have not received any confirmation that anything will be done to complete this work yet I am already being charged because the system is producing power. Keep getting a work order confirmation number, had a tech out that took picture and said it will be taken care of yet when I call for an update I get the same run around and they start the process all over again. this is unacceptable. Working on selling a home with Sunnova contract in place on the property. Followed directions to transfer b/c solar contract must transfer to new owner in order to complete the sale of the property. Process says generating transfer paperwork may take UP TO 5 Business. We are now on business day #7 and calendar day #11 and after multiple phone calls over the past couple of days... all they can say is that they do not know what the hold up is and that it is being escalated to a supervisor. More than 24 hours ago... I was told it would be addressed quickly.... today on the phone... I get the exact same explanation with zero result and that it may take another 24 hours to 48 hours. I asked to speak with a supervisor as obviously making a note in the computer isn't getting their attention... but somehow a supervisor to actually speak with does not exist and there is nothing more that can be done. So here I wait for a return call.... with not choice but to write a 1 star review while i wait. I would definitely think twice before entering into any sort of solar agreement with a company and tying it to your most valuable asset (Your Home) so that they can ultimately hold you hostage when it comes time to sell the home and potentially sabotage your ability to sell your property... b/c you have to wait for Sunnova to prepare paperwork and approve the transaction and they do not seem to care at all. We recently purchased a home that already had solar with it that is serviced through Sunnova and just trying to get a hold of someone who can efficiently explain the transfer process is terrible. The phone volume and the amount of times the call gets transferred is unbelievable not to mention the email process. First impression is everything and we are not impressed whatsoever. It's one thing not to provide good service but to also have an unprofessional nasty attitude about it is the worst. I would not recommend getting solar through Sunnova to anyone. read more

I would give them zero if I could. I have had a broken panel since July of 2022. It's now March 2023. It took 3 months to get an appointment, which I received notification when the person showed up at my front door. I have a 2 story house and he did not have a ladder. Set up another appointment which no one showed up. It appears that the appointment that they give you does not match their maintenance system. The next person showed up with a ladder on a rainy and said he could not get up on the roof and really was not sure how he would get up there. Wait a minute...you are a solar company that does not know how to get on top of a 2 story house? Finally, a special customer service person called me who opened up a ticket with the local maintenance team, but he cannot seem to get anyone out here either. I am looking for the agency that regulates them, plan to call the local news station, and my need to resort to calling in a separate company to fix the panel and then take them to court. read more

My Solar system stopped working since Feb 21st and today is March 11th. I have called and opened a ticket 8 days ago. I have called them 3 times and they have no estimate of when a tech will be out. I asked to speak with a supervisor and am told they don't have a direct line to one. Was told today that it will probably be 2 weeks from today before I see any activity or call from them about sending someone out. I have spoken with Julio and Giovanni so far and neither have been helpful. This is terrible customer service. I am just watching my true up go up every day. 3 weeks from when you open a ticket is pretty typical per Julio. Sunnova is the absolute worst company to deal with for solar transfers. We are waiting to close escrow because of them. They keep telling us the transfer docs are waiting to be sent out through Docusign. For days, we have been told the same story. All parties involved have offered to send the docs through our Docusign or get wet signatures. They won't accept it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told the supervisor will call me back in 24-48 hours. I believe their employees are taught to read from a script rather than to try to solve a problem. read more

In my opinion, Sunnova runs their business similar like a gangster mafia. Sunnova illegally put me on a Solar contract on a home that I owned. The contract was under my tenant. I was never shown a contract. I never signed any document with Sunnova. I never communicated with them about Solar. I never consented to the Solar. I never paid them any payments. When I planned to sell the property I called Sunnova to see what their plans were on the solar and spoke to Bianca. Bianca was extremely rude and not helpful what so ever. From that conversation a UCC recording was filed against my property under the tenants name. Sunnova's resolution to that matter was that since I knew of the Solar that I was on the contract.... WHAT?!?!?!?!? The case got escalated to Toni Thomas and she basically told me the same thing. This filing scared one buyer away, and the other buyer the sale was successful once the tenant removed the solar off the property. However, the title company withheld the proceeds until they got to the bottom of Sunnova's gangster policies. My money was held for 3 weeks after the sale of my home!!! It took a Lawyer from my Title company ultimately to put this issue to bed. Sunnova is not afraid of you as a Consumer. They treat you less than nothing. You have to have get a Lawyer involved because they are RUTHLESS!!! In my experience, Sunnova will do whatever they want regardless of what it says they can do in their contract, what the law says, or what the right thing to do is. As long as Sunnova makes sure they attach your property ILLEGALLY to get money that's not rightfully theirs. Never I mean NEVER do business with this company!! read more

Talk about a giant nightmare for us!!!! I soooo regret the day I listened to a charming salesman from Sunnova! It's been a nightmare! For over a year and a half! I kept telling them they were charging me before the contract said they should, and it fell to deaf ears and people who read a script and do nothing for you but say "we have put a ticket in." Try that for months and months and months! My lights in my home kept blinking on and off like something out of a horror movie! Outlets worked and then didn't work! My original solar panel gateway is gone! What did they do with it? Who the heck knows, and NOBODY from Sunnova has come out to resolve the issues!!! They left holes and cracks in my new walls of my home and didn't finish repairing the damages they left!!!! Fast forward 5 months after install... Christine our rep is impossible to get in touch with and doesn't return our calls. We are not only not generating enough power, our bill has not budged and now bc we have to pay for the panels is double what it usually is. What a scam. Unprofessional technicians, showed up to perform service stinking of cigarettes, while performing service was smoking outside my window filling my house with smoke. Not only that the hours they were there they didn't even fix the system. The technician stated he would return when the equipment was shipped. This was over 3 months ago and still no response when I call customer service I just get put through the prompts and I'm never connected to anyone who can help or is knowledgeable about when my system will be fixed. We bought a house in April 2022 that had a Sunnova solar system installed. Per their agreement, the sellers of the house had to pay them off, meaning we own the system after signing. It is now August 2022 and we still do not have an account on file with Sunnova. We (and the sellers) have started the process to switch accounts months ago. The worst part is, I have to keep calling Sunnova and then they ask for more and more stuff; they are never proactive and reach out to us. I just called again today and they told me that despite submitting everything required three weeks ago (finally), the transfer still hasn't gone through and it will take longer. So now I have to wait an unknown amount of time (because they wouldn't give me a time frame) all while having zero idea if my system is even functional. I am thankful I won't have to send a penny to these people, but I am terrified of the day I ever need service because I can already tell it'll take weeks. Terrible customer service. They stay on script and really never answer my question. The bill is received in our mailbox 6 days after the due date. They seem to be tight with information but quick to tell me that we owe them money and are late. They do not understand that the bill comes on the 17 th of each month with the due date on the 11 th of each month. I do not understand the person on the phone. Our new home came with Sonova solar panels. They have been activated, and we have a few questions. We are also trying to speak with a consaltant, and set up an orientation. I have made several attempts to call, but no one answers. I requested a call back two days ago, and of course no one has called. I even sent out emails, but no replies. What the hell is wrong with their call center or replying to emails. We don't have time to waste. This is a perfect example of incomptene and fraud. The roof needs to be replaced and we cannot find out what the cost is to remove and reinstall the solar system!!!! The house is an estate sale and customer service doesn't help. We are 8 business days to closing and for the past week there has been radio silence/conflicting instructions as to who needs to do what to transfer the contract to me. The title company, seller, and I have been trying to get clarification to no avail. The person that helped me gave me renewed faith in the company is no longer returning my calls. I know there are big storms in Texas but this problem began long before the storms. I was ok with this company at first. i got solar panels installed 5 yrs ago and then a battery backup this year, both payments are made to them thru direct deposit. this is not the issue. my issue is that they never respond to emails. and ive been in the process of selling my house, they are holding that up. and the title company needed lease agreements, and they were given a fed ex shipping label and we were supposed to have it on the 20th, they didnt even send it till the 27th the day before im supposed to close. needless to say that isnt happening now. so many emails, calls. it was ready but they just didnt send it. so not professional. read more

We live in NJ. We signed up with local Sunny Mac, and are under Sunnova. In October, our bills started getting higher, and MUCH higher in Nov, then Dec. and Jan. We were sold on this system with an understanding that we would ALWAYS pay less, and it would be MUCH less monthly. We even asked if there were differences in the times of year and were told by our rep that the technology has progressed to a place now where the panels collect electricity even in overcast weather and with clouds, so there isn't a big change in the different seasons. For example, our December electric/gas bill was almost $400, with over $200 of that being electricity--and we still had to pay Sunnova in addition. We are paying more monthly through this winter than when we did not have solar. I've gone back and forth since November with our rep. He agreed that it sounded crazy, asked for the bills and said he'd work on it. He never got us an answer. Since a month ago, he declined to return any calls / texts / emails. We have connected directly to the company to open a case. They responded with the basic "well in the winter, the system will produce less and so your bill will be higher" script... and I shared that I was told the opposite by the salesman, BUT also, even so, I would never expect to pay SUCH high amounts and asked whether the plan made for our needs / house was properly made. They said I need to start checking with the local provider and see what the plan was---we reminded them that they are the company liasing with Sunny Mac, and that we have no connection to Sunny Mac anymore---and having a completely appropriate plan for our home's needs is part of the agreement we planned this on. They need to step in to do due diligence to research why we are having such an issue and take steps to fix it. The rep called back a week later, forgetting our call and not looking at his notes, and gave the same pat answer about "less production in winter, higher bills", and when I reminded him that because this is an extreme example, I need more research and a solution---he said he would work on it and revert. This company has been charging my disabled father a lease fee for solar panels that are not effectively lowering his power bill. He still pays NV energy around $300 a month on a equal payment plan just to afford the power bill. Then there is the lease fee of around $140 a month. I have called to try to get help but nothing! My father signed the lease agreement right after he had a severe stroke! They sold him on not having a power bill anymore! Not true at all! You should be ashamed of your company taking advantage of people like this! I think I will have to take this to a lawyer for assistance. No one to talk to but the call bank taking calls and sending email requests somewhere to call the customer. Worst company structure ever!! Case-10069225 Sunnova was quick to take my money. $75000 for a full solar and battery backup. A few short months after installation, the batteries failed. I now had no backup, unable to switch over if grid power went out. After months of ignored phone calls (call center that does nothing), and emails that went unanswered, I ended up having blast the reviews, to track down individual employees via linked in, and start threatening lawsuits. THEN I finally get an actual email, nearly 6 months after problems start. First "customer service representative" Jazmine was worthless, couldn't respond in any useful way. Second one, Xavier, eventually responded with some sort of coherency, with a placating email and promises of a work order. We are nearly 8 months into failed equipment and THEY SENT THE WORK ORDER TO THE WRONG DAMN COUNTRY!!!! Absolute trash, incompetence, and refusal to provide any sort of reasonable customer support. Sunnova is the worst solar company going. In July I requested a solar transfer be completed for a closing in August. As of today, October 15th the agreement is not completed. Everytime I call I am getting a different response. All I need is the agreement signed and the UCC termination so the title company can close. They are nothing but a rip off and a scam. Of course they scammed the old lady I bought the house from to LEASE solar panels. The Escrow process was the WORST took longer than necessary and their agents were not helpful. NOW - I pay $ 100 (a little more) a month on the payments for the lease and my energy bill is OUTRAGEOUS. They claim in the last six months ive saved $186.72. .....Awesome right?? NO! I still pay you $ 100 a month! Those "savings" are non-existent. The solar production is clearly not feeding correctly to the utility company. I'm already dealing with the resolution center which is an ironic name for them, since they should be called the Existing in pointless-ness center. I called last year when I was told that my system was not producing as it should. They never sent anyone out until June of this year. I called again and low and behold my system isn't producing as it should again..my system is huge on an average sized house. In the meantime, my true up bill with PGE is estimated to be $1200 next month. I only have this system because I had to purchase it with the house. Oh...did I mention the lease goes up every year even though they told me it wouldn't if I went on auto pay. Oh but don't worry they are gonna try to get me some credit on the lease in 3 months or so.
