A word of advice to everyone: read the contract carefully before listening to their lies about rebates, oversized systems, and tax deductions. They claim you will only have one bill, which is a lie. After six months, I have experienced nothing but a endless runaround. This 40+ page contract was written by attorneys, so I cannot stress enough the importance of having an attorney review it before signing. I am extremely confident they will steer you far away from falling into the same trap. They commit fraud by lying to you to get you to sign the contract, only to find that the contract does not honor any verbal agreements. In fact, they told me they do not recognize fraud. Despite over 80% of solar customers reporting being misled and lied to, they continue to deny any responsibility. Having been illegally defrauded into signing, they now threaten me with legal action if I do not continue to pay. If I stop paying, they will take me to collections and ruin my credit. That is extortion. And remember, this horrible contract is now tied to the sale of your home. They do not care if you cannot sell your house because of this contract--you're stuck. In March they said it'd be on for the summer. Nine months later they start punching holes in my roof. A couple hours after that they called and said a key part was backordered for nine more months, but since they started installing already I could no longer cancel. They got the panels on the roof and left - didn't run any of the wiring other than just stringing the panels together. It's going to be 18 months minimum from signing the contract before the installation is finished, then whatever it takes to get permission to turn it on. We've got our first rains this week since they installed the panels. I'm not optimistic. I wrote a review on Google and they said "oh no call us and we'll figure it out" but then I was on hold for four hours and still haven't gotten to talk to anyone who can do more than apologize. This company should be ashamed of itself. How did I not notice their 1.1-star rating? We had extra panels installed two years ago, and they've been consistently in error. We've had technicians come out at least 15 times, but they can't seem to fix it. They just knock on our door, tell us it'll be cleared up, and of course, it's still in error. We've complained repeatedly, and we were transferred to Michael Balala, who has been nothing short of pathetic. He's done absolutely nothing. He's supposed to be a manager to help us, but he's done nothing but ignore us, disrespect us, and cause us frustration. This company needs a class-action lawsuit. No one has done anything for us, and we're paying for an inoperable system. We call customer service nonstop, but we get nowhere. I recently purchased our and closed on July 5, 2022. The initial transfer agreement was signed June 2, 2022. Sunnova then lost or misplaced our documents and we had to sign the transfer agreement again on July 13, 2022. I called the customer service line on July 28, 2022 to get a status on the transfer. They reported that they did not receive a copy of the deed to prove that I owned the home. Even though the deed was originally sent on July 6, 2022. The escrow company again sent the July 28, 2022. Since that date I have been calling repeatedly asking when the transfer will be done. I've been told it's being reviewed by their technical support team since July 28th. I will not recommend this company and their subpar customer care to anyone and I will end my business with them as quickly as possible. read more

Ordered 54 ground mounted panels, 16 months later, the system is still not working, the contractor they hired to install my system filed Bankruptcy and Sunnova will not approve anyone other contractors to finish the job. It gets worse, just received a phone call last week from Sunova and they asked me why I was over $ 1500.00 behind on my payments! Now my credit score has declined significantly!!! I have Sunnova solar panels installed on my house. Unfortunately, my roof has developed a leak due to the penetration caused by their solar installation. I reported the issue and requested them to provide a quotation to remove their panels so that I could arrange for roof repairs. It has now been almost two months, and we are still waiting for them to quote and remove their own panels. This has been an extremely frustrating experience, and I must say that this is the most incompetent company I have ever had to deal with. I've contacted and spoken with more than a dozen employees, including managers, escalation support, and the Issue Resolution team, but they all express their apologies and cannot provide a timeframe for the removal of their panels. I strongly advise against doing business with this company. read more

Customer services are either in the Philippines or Mexico, depending on which office you get. They read the script, and they don't care what you say. They don't pay attention. What you say is they try to prove you wrong when you're 100% right. I've had the system for 3 1/2 years now; I have two systems; one has 12 panels. The other has 28. The 12-panel system has never produced more than 701 kW in a month. Now a set is producing megawatts, so it happens that's the next GEN system net system, so of course, they're billing me like crazy. It's physically impossible for that many panels to produce that many kilowatts. Somehow, they've combined both systems into one system, my own 100%. They should not be billing me anything. Still, the Philippines wants to argue the situation they were supposed to repair all day. No one showed up. Maybe he was stuck in traffic, and I waited another four hours, and he still didn't show up. I called back today, two days later, and found that you have an appointment tomorrow, but you haven't confirmed it. How do I know there's an appointment if you don't tell me? Their Philippines office talks to you like you're stupid, like you don't know how solar works, and tries to say it's working usually. They don't seem to understand that producing that much power is physically impossible. They said, "Well, it all depends on the time of day," like, "Oh my gosh, it's unreal." This is the worst system. Worst customer service I've ever seen in my life. I think Sunnova's customers need to get a class action lawsuit together. This is the only way these people are going to understand. And, of course, there's no one else you can get a hold of at their headquarters or anywhere else. They reroute you to their customer service people, who also get $.25 an hour, as my company uses them. When Sunnova's contractor installed the panels on my roof they missed one of the 4x4's which ended up causing a roof leak the following winter. We realized there was a leak January 2024. They did not send someone out, despite repeated emails and phone calls until March. In March they sent a crew out not to fix the situation but to see if it was a Sunnova issue. It was, then they left without fixing anything. The roof continued to leak into a wall in my house through the rainy season- record rain by the way. The wall became moldy, wet, and spread significantly over that time. Then they sent out another crew a month or two later to do the same thing. I asked why they were not at my house to fix the leak and they said they were here to figure out if Sunnova was liable. Apparently, the first crew did not share records with Sunnova so they sent out a second crew to do the same thing as the first crew. I convinced the second crew to at least fiil the leak with silicone so it would not leak anymore, which they graciously did. Months went by with no news or fixing the problem. Finally, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and within 1 week they were on my calendar to fix the roof and the room with the leak damage. After 9 months, Sunnova was finally motivated to fix the problem. Early September they fixed the roof and this last weekend October 19 they finished replacing the drywall and getting rid of the mold. Incompetence and a disregard for another person's personal property to say the least. By the way the system works great but was not worth dealing with hassle. read more

It is a huge trap. I would say it all clearly now. They do not help you save on your energy bill. And if you don't pay a lump sum. Expect your bill to double after 18 months. Once you sign your contract with sunnova you have 5 days to cancel it unless there is no way out. And you end up paying for a service that does not actually help save on your energy bill as advertised but also when i requested someone to come check and make sure our equipment is producing because we don't see any changes or savings. They said if they dont find an issue we have to pay 2-400$ for them sending a technician. My family and i are working hard to find our way out of this situation but this is a warning to anyone else. Bought a new construction build home by Lennar and they use Sunnova solar as contractor. Sunnova customer service is the worst on this planet. Trying to activate my solar panels, They hang up on me mid call and then ignore my following calls! I had to call to international Sunnova line for help! You customer service reps by Lennar and Sunnova internal are the absolute garbage of this planet. DONT get Sunnova if buying Lennar homes. And the Sunnova app Doesn't even work!! They have called me EVERY DAY for the past 2 weeks because a "payment is past due." The worst solar company out there with even worse customer service! Background: we have a PPA with Sunstreet under Lennar that was sold to Sunnova. Sunstreet was horrible, Sunnova is even worse with customer service. We have a 16-panel 5kW solar system using IQ6 microinverters. We ask to add more panels, and the cost was sky high compared to other quotes. We decided to use another company for a 24-panel 9.6kW system using IQ8+ microinverters. Sunnova started pulling data from the second system and reported their was "over producing at 115%" than expected and over-charged us since Feb 2023 when the second system was installed. It is impossible to generate "115%" on any real world system and mathematically doesn't add up. Currently: we have called them many times that their readings are incorrectly higher than normal and need to recalculate for the 16 IQ6 data and give us our refund for 3 months and ongoing. We have spoken to multiple idiots who can't find any resolution but still over-charging with no resolution in sight. Classic right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is looking for an honest company to install their solar system. They are crooks!!! Stay very far away. read more

I sold my house at in north Fort Worth, Texas 76137 and we closed November 1, 2024. The title company issued a check for the payoff amount for the solar panels of $34,428.80. The check had the address on it. I own a second house, also with solar panels through the same company. They applied that amount sent to the WRONG house. It is now March 6 and I have gotten NOWHERE with them correcting their error. They keep trying to get the buyer to sign the transfer agreement, but of course he will not as then he will assume the loan amount which should have been paid off in full FOUR MONTHS AGO. We have had solar since Jan 2015. We started with Solar Vison, which was bought out I think by ION, payments taken by Sunnova. Now Sunnova is a one stop shop for Solar systems. We have had nothing but problems with the whole set up. Our system is a PPA, only pay for KW produced with only a 75% off set. They talked us out of going 100% said it would only benefit power company in our area if we produced more KWs than we use. Have had to have the transformer changed out three times and we had to notify Sunnova that something was wrong with the system, even thou they are supposed to monitor our system from their end 24/7. Just recently contacted them concerning reporting on the portal they wanted me to troubleshoot the system. I said not my job. They want me to continue monitoring my system from the portal and report back to them again before they send someone out to look at my system. Not cool. If we could get out of this system we would, but once you are in, you are in for the long haul. read more

We were forced to buy/lease a unit in order to buy our multi-gen Lennar home (which was perfect for our living situation so we went ahead and bought it anyways). After a couple of months struggling to get the unit online, it finally worked and we saw some savings on our bill. However, during the summer months I saw the bill start to go up and I checked the unit that showed no power was being generated (in the summer, in Vegas, the hottest months of the year). I put in a request for service, and it took over a week for a service date to be generated. At first, I tried to set it up online on their website, but that didn't work, so I had to call to put in the request. The service team just mentioned that I would be told about the date over a phone call, text, or email, but I did not. For about a week I called and messaged trying to get an update on the date, but they had no update and could not help me with any questions that I had. I had to check my account to see the date, and when I click confirm on the website, that didn't work either. I contacted the service desk and they said they would send another ticket to another team to get that resolved. That's where I am now, uncertain if a team will even come out to resolve my issue because nothing works with Sunnova from the unit itself to their website and services. If I could, I would give them zero stars on how they treated my family through the entire sale of our home. They refused to send us monthly payments for the new homeowner to prove what we paid. They continued to ask for the recorded deed after we sold the house even though we sent it countless times. I sold this house a month ago. The lawyers immediately transferred the deed and then I transferred the deed (sale) over to them 5 times. I am now paying the bills for the new home owner. Since we are part-time residents here in Hawaii, we opted to lease the system. Once installed, our electric costs were reduced to almost nothing. Things were great until I received a bill from the power company for more than $300. This went on for six months. Sunnova made one appointment after another with us, only to cancel at the last minute each time. The problem was finally diagnosed and then we waited for over a month for the part to arrive from the US mainland. Over the time we waited for repairs we spent roughly $2,000 in addition to our regular monthly payments. When I asked for compensation, Sunnova refused, pointing out some fine print in the contract. I keep getting emails from them, promising to pay me $2,000 for referring a new customer. But they won't spend a penny to keep a current customer happy. Jeff, who came around was very professional, courteous and polite and did a great job looking into the issue for me. I'm raising the score to a 3 because of his service. I still can't believe that a company would set up an appointment (twice!) and not have anyone come around, so spending hours waiting at home, wasting my time, then to rub salt in the would, no-one contacts me to explain/update me or apologize for this. Just bought a house from Lennar 2024 July. In doing so, if I wanted the house, I had to buy or lease solar from Sunnova. I choose to purchase it. I paid sum of 18,000 dollars. Its been 2 1/2 months and I see no difference in power bill. My first bill was 1,200 dollars and it's only me and my wife in the home. My system has been not communicating since May, they serviced it and found a part that needed to be replaced early June. They never called me so I called them to get an update but they didn't have any info to give me so I called the manufacture company that was sending them the part to ask for an ETA. They provided me tracking and case info that showed the part was sent to Sunnova in June. Sunnova had the part sent to Texas instead of California. I have called Sunnova monthly since June and haven't been able to get any updates or anywhere with getting my system fixed and communicating again. The installer they contracted incorrectly installed my power wall, which left me without power for 4 days with a new born baby at home. When I told the Sunnova rep this, they said they would send a tech to my house to fix it and never did. I got my solar panels installed in 2021 expecting to save money. I havent saved any money since the installation. In fact, I have lost money every single month! I have called a couple of time to try and cancel the contract due to being misled only to get a barrier of so called customer service representatives and "supervisors" that simply repeat the same thing over and over to me. When I ask for someone in corporate, they say there is no way to get in touch with someone in corporate. Why is corporate hiding from the people they lie to? They should be embarrassed! They actually called me today and proceeded to tell me my system is running properly even though I am losing money. They said they used my electrics bills that I sent them to come up with the recommendation of 33 panels. And they are saying that I am using more than its producing. So. let me get this straight, you (the expert) came up with the "recommendations" on how many panels it would take for me to be able to save money on my electrics bill and now you are telling me its my fault because I am using more energy than what the system is producing even though my usage hasnt changed? Whenever you call you get a completely different answer as to the previous call regarding the same matter and they keep giving you different case numbers for the same situation. After a temporary takeoff of the system, I paid Sunnova the full amount for the contractors work. It's been over a month and the subcontractor hasn't been paid. Sunnova "customer service" has stated that it will take 1-3 MONTHS to pay the subcontractor. The subcontractor has placed a mechanical lien against my house for non-payment. I've wasted hours of my time on the phone with their "customer service" and continue to have to explain what's happened each time i talk to a new representative. I've requested multiple supervisor callbacks and have yet to receive any. The Subcontractor that I went with is not only one of the largest residential solar contractors in the country but is also my employer which makes it even more embarrassing. At this point my only other option is to pay the subcontractor directly and have to deal with trying to get my money back.
