I visited the Sunglass Hut in Corpus Christi for my husband's birthday back in May. The employees were wonderful and helped find exactly what I needed. I had seen the discount at Macy's and asked if they honored the same and they did. They applied a Mother's Day discount and I was on my way. A couple weeks later, I visited the Barton Creek Mall location with my husband because the glasses I picked out for him were not the right ones. When it was time to swap them out, the new sunglasses were less expensive than the original ones I bought so I expected a refund and that's what the store rep confirmed as well. Well, when it was time to pay, the employee said it was going to cost $40 more for the cheaper sunglasses because he could no longer apply the Mother's Day discount. Even the manager could not help me. I bought the original sunglasses on Mother's Day with the discount but with the exchange, there was nothing they could do. How ridiculous is that? It does not make sense. It's a money grab. I paid over $250 for sunglasses but they could not honor the discount originally provided? Do better, Sunglasses Hut. Why is there not a Zero Star option? In September of 2015 I dropped a pair of Ray Ban New Wayfarers in a store. Someone picked them up and pocketed them. So I went to this Sunglass Hut and told the associate I need a pair of polarized New Wayfarers in the tortoise shell frame. She produced them, I paid and that was that. Until a couple months ago when while removing the glasses from my face a temple arm broke. Prior to this I had been disturbed by the fact that the tortoise design was peeling off the temple arms as it was painted on and not moulded in. ??? I sent the glasses to Luxottica which owns both Ray Ban and Sunglass Hut for repair. They returned them saying they cannot repair these glasses as they are not authentic Ray Bans. So I have in writing and in a subsequent email from Luxottica formal affirmation of the fact that these are counterfeit Ray Bans. Luxottica is totally ignoring the repeated communications I have have filed through their complaint resolutions channel on line. I went to the store in Austin last week with the knock off glasses and original sales receipt. The manager's response? "We only sell authentic Ray Ban's, sir". So what about these fakes that I purchased here? "We only sell authentic Ray Bans, sir". Not only did I get fakes, I got non-polarized fakes as confirmed by the manager of a Sunglass Hut here in DFW. The reason for my trip was to use a coupon I had received in the mail. It was the worst customer service I have ever encountered, IF you can call it that. Your associate was EATING when I walked in so he did not greet me. If I did have a question his responses were very short & he seemed pretty preoccupied with working on freight instead of helping the consumer. Then this dude(tall & dark hair)HAS THE AUDACITY to tell me "nah uh uh" when I tried to clean some glasses myself because he couldn't possibly offer me assistance. This Sunglass Hut is THE BEST place to get sunglasses - - if you want the BEST customer service. All thanks to a nice and very professional Manager named Lan Tran, she is a Sunglass Connoisseur. So the last time I bought a pair of sunglasses was about 3 years ago, at Sunglass Hut in N. Austin, it was an impulse buy. And now - thanks to my new Macy's credit card (with additional 20% off), I naturally made 2 more impulse buys at the SGH in Macy's in San Antonio. Yay. Yeah - WTF do I need 2 additional sunglasses? Oh well, I'm fickle. The decisions were made with haste, so I went back to SGH in Macy's Barton Creek and met Lan and showed her the 2 pairs I had bought. Lan, the Sunglass Connoisseur, immediately offered her opinion: "no, those frames are not right for your face, and they're too loud too, you should have gotten these instead". NOOOO!! Are you serious?!? Well you know what - - Lan was right! I tried on 2 different pairs and they looked so much better. She said we would have no issues w/ the exchange and made it a seemless transaction. But now we encounter another problem - - I find another pair of proliferated sunglasses that they did not have in SGH in SA, and I like them too. I was disappointed because I was looking for these specific proliferated glasses in the first place but SA said they did not exist! "No problem", said Lan. She called her manager, they talked, then she says: "We are so sorry about the breakdown in customer service you received at our SGH in San Antonio, we would be glad to offer you the same discount on these glasses to make it up to you if you'd like to buy them.". Awesome!! Now that's what I call customer service. Lan is sharp, competent, professional, and service oriented. She'll be my main sunglass go-to-gal now. Choosing a lasting pair of shades that look right has always been something I've needed a professional opinion for. Generally, I've gone to an independently owned eyewear shop where I can get the kind of help and honest opinion I need. Shades for me must function not only as a sunblock but also as a hair accessory. They must stay on my head when I bend over, not slide down my nose, have hidden hinges and no nose-piece, and on top of all of that must look right on my angular face and pronounced nose. Shades are a daily staple of my wardrobe and for three years, I owned a pair that fit all of the above requirements until last week when I lost them. I mourned for several days then became impulsive. And then did something I thought I would never do because, really, what could a *kiosk girl* really know about shades anyway? Now I'm shaming myself for having thought like such a snob. My salesperson was no kiosk girl. She deserves a professional title, like eyewear specialist or, better yet, eyewear empress. She overheard me sharing with a friend what I was looking for as we purposefully circled the kiosk before placing a pair of Ray-Bans on the counter. I've never owned a pair of Ray-Bans, but they were exactly what I was looking for. My eyewear specialist amused me as I tried on several others just to be sure. She was extremely knowledgeable about shades past and present and had a good understanding of what shapes flatter particular facial features. I felt comfortable with her opinions almost immediately and nearly forgot I was standing in the middle of a mall. read more

There are two Sunglass Hut stores at Barton Creek Mall. One is a small stand in the mall-way. The other is an actual store. I've experienced both. Go to the stand in the mall-way. This 2 star review is for the storefront. After spending a lot of time familiarizing myself with the Maui Jim and Oakley lines online, I went into try them on. The young kid working there knows very little about their products. But what is worse - is when they say "no, that's all I've seen" rather than walking 10 feet and looking it up on the computer. L-A-Z-Y service here. I tried to approach the older gentleman behind the counter (manager?) but he kept deferring me to the kid who didn't know much. If I could rate my experience at your store in the negative it would be in the negative! I had a lovely experience buying a new pair of $180 ray bans at their location at the Barton creek mall. This is the only nice thing I have to say. This was 5 days ago. Day 1: When I went to purchase, the system crashed. So they re rung me. They double charged my card. The gentleman who was assisting me said that both charges would not go through, and 1 would drop off. Day 2: I call to tell the store that both transactions had complicated on my account, and I had been double charged. He replies that because it is the weekend, (it was Sunday) there was nothing that they could do. But he would give me a call back in the morning to get this taken care of. Day 3: no one returns my call. So I call again to speak with them about it. The representative who answers the phone is the most RUDE person I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my entire life in the customer service field. He accuses me of lying, will not work with me to find a solution, and goes as far as to say "listen dude, there is nothing I can do to help you, and I have people in the store, and can't talk to you any more." He also refuses to tell me when his manager will be in the store, so that I can find someone to help me. I ask for his name, because now I am filing a complaint against him, and I ask for the corporate number. He says his name is Skyler, and gives me a number. I come to find out after waiting on hole FOR AN HOUR, that he has given me the wrong number. I also find out on day 5 that he lied to me about his name and that his real name is Kevin. After finally getting ahold of cooperate, they politely listen to my story and tell me that hey will be in contact with me within 2 days. Day 4: patiently waiting, no call. Day 5: patiently waiting, no call. So I call back to the store and sleek with the manager, Lenny. He says that he can do, and he will have the new manager Dane who starts tomorrow contact me. It has now been 5 days, I have been charged $360 for $180 dollars worth of sunglasses, with no one making any attempt to make this right. And also being treated like garbage and lied to by Kevin over the phone! At this point I NEED to be refunded the money that was fraudulently charged. And unless you as a company do something to make this right, I will be returning the sunglasses I bought (after I am refunded the fraudulent charge) and going to proceed to buy the same sunglasses from your competitor. If this issue is not resolved by Friday, I will be filing this as credit card fraud with my bank, and contacting a lawyer to sue your company for fraud. read more

Another random stop on my way to an appointment at the Apple Store genius bar. I purchased a pair of sunglasses at a Sunglass Hut 2 years prior. I brought those glasses into this Sunglass Hut because I was experiencing some issues with a residue on the lens. The two salespeople at this location were honest and helpful in establishing why I had the issue and how to avoid it in the future. They also gave me a cheaper option for replacing them. (This is for the storefront not a the stand) Bought a pair of Oakleys from here that after a few days of wearing I notice this terrible mirroring effect on the inside of the glasses. I went to this location on Sunday with my receipt and planned on either returning or exchanging the sunglasses if I found something else. After entering the store I was greeting by a tall female employee. Everything seemed fine until she learned I may return the sunglasses which is when she told me I could only exchange them because their return system has been down for two weeks. Then she left me and my wife standing there and didn't even try to help us find a different pair. I drove all the way from buda to this crazy busy mall for this kind of service. AND what kind of establishment has no problem making sure the machine to sell stuff works but leaves the return system broken for two weeks...I'm not stupid. This is my first and last time at this store. I drove to San Marcos right after that and returned them at another location without issue. I've purchases five or six pairs of sunglasses from Sunglass Hut at Barton Creek Mall (at both the kiosk and the storefront) and I have never been disappointed. Staff seems extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful yet not pushy like some sales staff can be. Over the years, I've had two incidents of Maui Jim's breaking on me. On both occasions they bent over backwards to get me a replacement pair, once despite the fact my warranty had just expired. Bought a pair of $250 Raybans less than a year ago, only wear them while driving, lenses are completely scratched. Brought them in, was told scratched lenses are a "customer care issue", and the guy just tried to get me to buy another pair of $250 glasses.
