    Salmon

2nd time we've been here and it went well! We had a large table with multiple young kids so not the easiest to serve on a busy night. The salmon was good and in a neat presentation. The drunken ramen was amazing!! (Spicy but will definitely be ordering that again). Both rolls (the cecilia and the sunflower) were good and tasted fresh. The crab fried rice was awful though... $19 and the crab and rice/veggies had zero flavor. The duck breast of another meal was overcooked as well. Besides those two meals everything else was great.

I had a nice grilled tuna dinner (with capers and tomato sauce) and my friend enjoyed her ribeye steak (with blue cheese). We were able to walk in on a rainy Thursday evening but the first time we tried to go without a reservation on a Friday we were turned away.

We chose Sunflower on a whim. The first two restaurants had zero cars parked in their lots on a beautiful Sunday early evening when most are hoping clientele will not leave because of waiting. Sunflower was the opposite and right next door. Seating was perfectly located outside with the warm evening sun and a soft breeze off the water. The menu was loaded with delights making decisions harder. With entree' chosen (Thai fried rice with shrimp for me...Thai rice with crab & shrimp for my grandson). He selected three appetizers for us to share (fried dumplings, fried pot stickers, and Thai Lobster roll). My first bite was the dumpling dipped in a beautifully blended sauce ... one word describes ..."HEAVEN". Then the fried pot sticker ... nice but second to the dumpling. The real beauty on a plate was the Lobster roll which was artistry but at a price affordable for a newbie to Thai food like myself -- yet one you'd expect from the Chefs at any of the finest restaurants. Although bite-size delicacies, I was beginning to feel full when what is placed before me but the most flavorful and colorful rice i have had hiding a sweet surprise of chunks of pineapple and large luscious shrimp.. oh Yum! (The pictures here do not do Sunflower justice, but trust me...you'll love it). The service was friendly, knowledgable, and filled with local charm and humor. Will we be returning? Without a doubt! Colonial Beach VA should be proud to advertise that Sunflower Thai/French Restaurant graces Washington Avenue. So why are you sitting there? Is your GPS broken? GO!

We walked in about 7:45, on a Tuesday night, got asked if we had reservations ?? we did not there was three open tables at the time. Lady was kind of nice to see us.the sushi guy leaves at 7:30 so we are unable to order sushi. Just an FYI . The cocktail menu the mixed drinks are only available on the weekend just another FYI, Friday and Saturday only. I am from California so not used to some of the. Restrictions . LOL.. and my company is from Seattle, relatives cousins of course. Tamara is our server , lovely girl. We ordered several appetizers we ordered the spring roll, fried potstickers, Thai dumplings,. I don't know if I'm gonna make down what are you staying up an. 4 of us for dinner, first time here...all appetizers were delicious... three of us ordered the chicken pad Thai I got the medium spice. It was like perfect. Nice little bite. My cousin got the drunken Ramen with chicken and shrimp. She said it's perfectly spiced. I would not want any spicier. my mouth is a little warm, but it's not anything that I can't handle. Maybe... but all the food is absolutely delicious... There are big windows inside. It's a nice little place. I can understand why was asked if I had reservations. Maybe in the summer season it might be busier. It's a lovely restaurant in Colonial beach. There's also outside seating.

All the reviews that raved about this place were right!! The food, service, ambiance, and all were so spot on and wonderful!! I highly recommend you check this place out if you're a fan of sushi rolls. They have a great variety of menu items and everyone is so friendly!

Service was chilled and nice. We had a large party of 9, so we were appreciative for the patience of the staff. They also got cool points for acknowledging my friend's birthday with a complimentary crème brûlée. The restaurant had outdoor seating in addition to indoor. Not terribly loud. For a Thai lemonade tea, wonton soup, spring roll, drunken noodles and ice cream, it was $46. Not bad at all. I've heard that the portions could be larger, however, I didn't experience that since I had courses. The flavors in all of the dishes worked well together, and were dynamic. The spring rolls come with 5 units, and are delicious- especially the sweet & spicy dip that comes with it. The soup's contents were delicious, and the broth was potent. The drunken noodles were delicious. I ordered chicken with mine- the protein was cooked and marinated well and the "Hot" spice level. The spice was so beautiful. It added a level of complexity to the rich sauce that's standard to the noodles. The tea/lemonade had a unique twang to it that is individual to Thai teas. I enjoyed it. The hazelnut cognac ice cream was a little too creamy for my taste, I prefer a more icy/sorbet consistency. The taste was subtle, though, which I appreciated. It had a crunch in there that I could take or leave

    Filet and scallops. Delicious!

While the sushi rolls are a bit heavy on the rice, the quality and variety of rolls was very good. Along with a full menu which includes appetizers, soups, ramen and hibachi entrees there is quite a good amount of choices. If a group includes someone who isn't a fan of sushi, there are options for them. My wife and I both ordered a miso soup to start along with beverages and I also ordered a shrimp shu mai appetizer. We then stuck with the sushi which was available at the buffet. Since they state up front that they will charge for "wasted" food, the best recommendation is not to load up your plate but get a smaller number of things at a time and make multiple visits to the buffet. The variety of creative rolls impressed me as well as the quality. I was also impressed with how clean the restaurant was. While I did gaze briefly at the desserts, I didn't try any as I was full from trying the many of the sushi rolls available.

I ordered 5 items: 1) Beef Shoyu Ramen 2) Unagi Rice Bowl 3) Spicy Soy Garlic Wings 4) Matcha Milk Tea 5) Lychee Rose Fruit Tea. If you have a large order and dining in, just be patient and they will bring all items to you. As both beverages arrive to the table, the matcha milk tea was silky and smooth whereas the lychee rose fruit tea is not overpowering and you can taste each ingredient as it swirls around in your mouth. They are both refreshing and delicious. If you wish to add boba you can in your beverages. The unagi (grilled eel) rice bowl looks very scrumptious, filled to the rim served with steamed rice, fresh cucumbers, shredded carrots, pickled daikon and topped with sweetened soy glazed grilled eel fillets. Once incorporated together, your first spoonful won't be disappointed but yet satisfying. When you make your selection for the variety of ramen bowls, there's also additional toppings that you can add to your bowl too. The beef shoyu ramen arrives to the table in a unique pottery black bowl. It is gently display with noodles on the bottom, sliced beef, bok choy, seasoned boiled egg, dry nori, and added other toppings such as corn, tofu, and garnish with chopped cilantro, scallions, and sesame seeds. The first thing I did was tasting the broth and it didn't disappoint. It was exquisite savory, flavorful and light. The noodles were soft, tender and the entire bowl was aromatic and complex. My palate was jumping for joy. Lastly, the spicy soy garlic wings had a nice crunch, the soy garlic thick sauce really coats the wings but that chicken was so juicy, tender and incredible.
