It was an amazing experience, the service was fantastic, rite away we got a spot at the bar. We met the guy who's in charge of preping the oysters and the shrimp, very friendly young man. We enjoyed the oysters, they we're served over ice with horseradish and vinaigrette. We also order the fried Calamari was delicious, not over cooked or dry. The shrimp was also a good portion and the sauce was tasty....Yummy! We had a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. For sure we are coming back!!

My friends and I stopped by Sundogs for our last dinner in outerbanks and it ended up being the highlight of our trip! The service was awesome and they still offer free refills on fountain drinks which is elite. The waiters were super nice and gave us their takes on the best items of the menu. The food was absolutely phenomenal. My personal favorite was a tie between the prime rib egg rolls (super crispy and juicy) and the Asian style bbq ribs (super tender with amazing sauce). If you're in outerbanks definitely stop by sundogs!

We stopped here while on vacation in OBX. We arrived at the restaurant right at 2:35. After 5 min of standing there, one of the (3) waiters came up to us and said "Got here just in time, we stop seating at 2:45 for lunch". He claimed that it was written on a board out front, but someone put 5:45 instead of 2:45 which caused several people to come in after us. All of which were turned away in a rude manor might I add. The waiter who sat us was extremely frazzled and a little rude. He didn't even come back to check on us. ANOTHER very nice waiter walked up and asked us had our order been taken yet; seeing as how we didn't even have waters. I don't remember his name but props to him. The restaurant itself has a nice set up, and I think there is live music during dinner. We had the kimchi egg rolls as an app, they were okay. I had the tacos. The fish could have been seasoned better in my opinion, but the pickled onions and pico de gallo were DELICIOUS. My mom had the prime rib, which she loved. And my boyfriend had the fish and chips. His fish was very seasoned, but I think that has to do with the batter it was fried in. I didn't get any pictures of our drinks but they were made pretty well. Not sure if I would come back next time I'm in OBX.

Oysters were yummy

Food was great. People were friendly. Nothing fancy just casual and nice. Hubby wanted a raw bar and it hit the spot.

We were introduced to Sun dog via locals. Yea, It is deserving of a share with all your OBX visitors! Walked in and staff immediately greeted us and said hello and were just happy we were there. - Now not everyone may want that much happy in their server, but if you are willing to GIVE a smile, one will be returned. My eyes were drawn to the Mahi Taco Salad. The fish is blackened & grilled. See Layers of avocado, sweetness of roasted red peppers & nicely seasoned black beans. And the rich chipotle dressing tasted housemade. I found Sun dog a casual place to hang with friends while visiting OBX. Hope they stay open - I want to come back for New Years‼

Sesame chicken salad

We were waiting for them to open. Lol. And they did not disappoint. I had a rum punch and they weren't shy with the alcohol but it wasn't very good sadly. But the food made up for it! Appetizers : Prime Rib Egg Rolls & Crispy Asian Style BBQ Sticky Ribs. Dinner : Sesame Chicken Salad & Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese. The food was pretty and delicious!!

The restaurant was running a bit lean with staff but our server was attentive and helpful. There's a lot on the menu to choose from -- we had the crab dip appetizer as well as the fish bites. There's a bar and lots of TVs. There's also a small area in the restaurant with a great t-shirt selection, stickers, and beanies. We have a list of OBX favorites we always come back to, and this one will go on the list.

Shipwreck's serves excellent shrimp that are large, fresh, plump, lightly battered, fried perfectly and salted just right. We again shared the order of calamari that is billed as an appetizer, but we split both plates, so it was part of our meal, and it all was plenty of food. They do a very good job on the fried food that we had and there is much more that tempted me. I don't think that the slaw was quite as good as what we had the previous time, but still a bug improvement over what it was a couple of years ago. Again, I don't know if this was a conscious change or if they are just very inconsistent. I'm pretty sure we will remain customers and I am increasing the rating because they do serve excellent seafood. The slaw cannot be the driver for the rating.

I chose coleslaw as my slaw.z it was fresh but could have used more seasoning. Our server was fantastic. He was constantly checking on us and providing instant soda refills. We just can't handle a big lunch and wanted to avoid leftovers, so decided to split a pickle brined chicken sandwich with fries and an extra side of slaw. The sandwich was OK. To start with it needed more seasoning. How about breaking out the black pepper and garlic powder? The meat was uncharacteristically tough/chewy for chicken breast. I suggest they need to be pounding it to tenderize it and then brine it. It was actually hard for us to cut and eat. It really looked nice, but I think I am done with pickle brined chicken. It just never gets enough brine impact. They make good small caliber fries that were piping hot and the slaw was fine for me. Ms T did not care for it so I got it all. Our food was OK, not stellar. The service was excellent, but I still can't make this better than three stars. I hope to convince her to return for a burger during this trip.
