This review is a few months overdue, but I wanted to make sure I shared my experience…read more We purchased our pavers from Peninsula Building Materials for my project and I had a very positive experience working with Kevin Castner and the entire PBM team throughout the entire process. I originally had my pool deck installed back in 2009 and I wanted to match for my current project. Kevin helped coordinate a special-order request by working with the manufacturer's representative to especial order the exact product. After about two months, the pavers arrived and were delivered. However, I noticed right away that the quality was not the same as my original pavers. Since it was a large order, I was very stressed and immediately contacted Kevin to see what could be done. Kevin quickly arranged for a sales representative to come to my home and inspect the pavers. After reviewing them, the representative explained that the manufacturing materials had changed compared to the original product. As an end user, I would not have known this difference or how it might affect the final result. Unfortunately, the return request was initially denied. Kevin didn't stop there--he escalated the issue to higher management on my behalf. Within just a few days, the return was approved. He then helped me quickly reorder a different paver option so my contractors could continue the project without delay. Throughout the entire process, Kevin was extremely responsive, patient, and supportive. In addition, when I visited their showroom, I purchased some natural stone pieces on clearance for my patio steps. After the installation was partially done, I realized the color did not match my patio as expected, and Kevin kindly accepted the return without any hassle. Overall, Kevin was incredibly kind and helpful, and the rest of the Peninsula Building Materials team was also very professional and supportive. Their pricing was also unbeatable for the quality and service provided. I highly recommend them for excellent customer service and their willingness to go the extra mile. Thank you so much, Kevin!

I've Never Written a Review Before, But This Experience Deserves One…read more I usually let things slide, but our experience at this store was upsetting enough that I felt the need to speak up. If I could leave 0 stars I would. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely unwelcome. The man we approached for help not only made us feel uncomfortable and out of place, but also acted as if we were a joke. As we tried to explain what we were looking for, he chuckled to himself and laughed -- not with us, but clearly at us -- which was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. While he did end up helping us, he did so with an obvious attitude and made it clear that he didn't want to assist us. I'm not sure what was going on with him personally, but regardless, there is no excuse for treating customers that way. What made the experience even more baffling was hearing him question other customers about why they were even shopping at this location, suggesting they go to stores closer to where they lived. I was genuinely confused -- aren't employees supposed to encourage sales and provide helpful suggestions, not make customers feel like they're in the wrong place or redirect business elsewhere? Everyone deserves to be treated with the same level of respect and kindness - regardless of race, gender, or age -- and that was clearly not demonstrated during our visit. No one should leave a store feeling mocked, disrespected, or like their presence is unwanted. I looked at what was broken and I went to ace harder and spent $5 and they helped me fix the tool back to working condition. So I paid a higher price for what I was told was superior quality compared to other contractors but ended up with a 2nd rate job, with 3rd rate finish. She immediately sized us up by asking what size counter we were looking for, what material, and did we have a contractor. When it was determined we only needed a half slab for our project, she flatly told us they only sold full slabs and the most effort she exerted into our entire interaction was to show us colors on a website. Since we made the trip, we decided to have a look around and five stars for their show room which is expansive and has everything displayed orderly to help you make sense of it all. Upon perusing their countertop warehouse, we stumbled upon racks and racks of what do you know...remnants they sell! Even though the showroom is great, we won't be returning unless it's so we can say to this woman, "You made a big mistake, lady. BIG."
