Fantastic experience with SUNation Energy. Was referred by a friend and had great dialogue with our specialist Rob Moser. He walked us through the process, the benefits of solar and what set up makes most sense for us. He also was able to get us great pricing which was almost 10% lower than other estimates. Paperwork and payment was a breeze! Once the permit was approved (took about 5 weeks after signing the agreement), they came and installed the panels in a few days which was impressive (probably lucked out with availability). The install crew (was literally an army! about 8-9 guys) came promptly at 7:45AM (15 minutes early which was great) and was finished by 1PM. The head of the crew walked me through the process and closed out great showing me the app and next steps. Clean up was also fantastic as nothing was left behind. Currently we are waiting for the inspection so we can start banking the unused solar for future use. But still we are generating over 45 kWh daily (on a sunny day) and our average usage is about 30 (we have 2 EV's) so we are about 150% efficiency which is great. Though we can not bank yet, we are still utilizing solar power so our electric bill for the past week will be minimal. All in all, SUNation Energy is extremely professional, very knowledgeable and customer service seems to be a top priority to them. I waited until I had some experience with the new system before considering a review. It's been operating for about 5-6 weeks and everything appears perfect. I received my first, almost zero electric bill, and have banked enough kwh to keep us at zero cost for a long while. My only problem is that it's difficult not to follow the reporting software on a day-to-day basis. It's a habit I'll have to try to get over. I interviewed 4 solar companies before choosing Sunation. Working with Sunation proved it to be the right company and a pleasant experience. Their on-line programming seemed to be perfect and all the legal stuff was perfectly clear. If I needed to speak with someone, they were always there. The phone is always answered by someone who knows the answer or knows who knows. And since we're in for the long haul, it's good to know that the service line is always responsive. Approvals from the City and from ConEd seemed to be right on time just as they advised. Their master electrician served as our planning consultant for the physical installation and he made sure to seek my input at each step. When the time came for the installation the Sunation crew was amazingly efficient and the crew chief explained everything. The job was done earlier than was promised and with a thorough clean-up. Two thumbs up to Scott Maskin and his service department at Sunation Solar Systems. The snowstorm 2 weeks ago wreaked havoc on my newly installed gutters. Because of the incline of my roof, the snow built up awkwardly and started coming off too quickly. The snow breaks initially installed usually take care of it but the snow won out destroying the gutters in the process. After speaking to Scott and his service manager Brian, we agreed that an additional row of snow breaks would be installed. Fast forward.. the gutters got repaired and the SUNation service crew came out today to install the snow breaks just in time for tomorrow's impending storm. The guys were super friendly and fast! Sunation was an absolute pleasure to work with! From our initial consultation with Cameron, to agreeing on the perfect system and layout for our needs, to contract and financing, through install and post-install service, Sunation has delivered on what they promised, and did the work on time. The system was installed neatly (everything is labeled, and actually blends in with the roof and siding) and is leak-free (a few storms this summer helped us confirm this, LOL). Sunation walked us through every step of the process - permitting, PSEG net metering, permits, town electrical and building inspections, and our Certificate of Compliance - and was excellent in communicating the process and next steps. Our system has been in service for several months now, and is performing exactly as expected! Our electric bill has been between $12 - $14 per month (for the backup connection to the grid), and we have already developed a bank of kw credits from our system's production in excess of our use. Needed service as one of my inverters wasn't working. Glad to see the techs show up with masks, which I told them weren't necessary. They were efficient and thorough in diagnosing my problem, which was actually due to loss of power while I was away. SuNation didn't install my solar, but they were glad to see the company that did. The techs climbed to the roof to take photos of the installation and after they left SuNation sent me copies of all the photos. There was never a question that i would use SuNation, and they proved to be the BEST choice i could ask for and took care of my problem in a timely manner. Although it took many months(Jan-Sept with early Oct install date) of back and forth with my advisor between different variations of my system, there was never any pressure and with great communication. I just wished that things would've gone a lot quicker. Rohan is very accomodating, highly patient and very pleasant to speak with. Other then the long delay (Not the fault of Rohan), definitely recommend them to anyone looking to install Solar. This company is terrible! They don't honor their commitment when they say they will warranty your roof!! They told me before I hired them that the entire roof will be warrantied once they drill the first hole in it, because they are up on my roof doing work, and there is an off-chance that it can result in collateral damage. Sure enough, about a year later when I had a roof leak, they told me they will not repair it, because the leak was not at the site of where the actual panels are situated on the roof (yet, it was a result of the hardware that they left on the roof). Also, even though I paid out my solar panels, I had a lien placed on my house by the company that provides sunnation their panels on consignment, because sunnation didn't pay THEIR bill to that company, for the panels that I paid sunnation for in full. This took months to resolve until they finally removed the lien. I already convinced one of my neighbors not to use this company, and hopefully this post will convince others not to use them as well!! read more

I'm happy my family went green...but the install was less than adequate. The crew showed up and I asked them about the install, as every homeowner should. The lead installer seemed very cocky, when I asked him if they measured inside the attic for the joists he said they would. Well they didn't...I'm very handy, and know how to do almost every trade in my home. So fast forward an hour or so...I asked the Lead again, you didn't go upstairs in the attic, how did you measure. He said he didn't have to, he installed the bracket from up on the roof. So I asked how he knew he hit the joists in the roof through the shingles and when he answered, "well we're not perfect" I immediately changed my thought process on this install. I have a brand new roof...I don't need unnecessary holes in my roof, especially when I'm paying someone to do a professional job. I was shocked he would say such a thing. Later in the install, I was sitting on my porch waiting to go to work and I saw my newly installed roof shingles being thrown off the roof and a lot of laughing and clowning around. So now I was super curious why roof shingles were being thrown off my roof from above, but even more curious as to why they were coming off my roof to begin with. I'm super super disappointed with this install. It's not a cable install where you run a cable through the house in the same hole it was prior...it's a big job and should be treated more delicately. Now, this job required an electrical inspection, as it should. The day after the install, the electric inspection company rep called me and they scheduled the inspection. The company is Electrical Inspectors, they are located in East Meadow. The day of the inspection, the inspector called me and said he would be by between a certain time and I said I would be home to make sure my dogs were not outside. We have cameras on our house and caught the guy doing the inspection from the street with his camera. You can not see any of the work done from the street. The point was that he was there to look at the panel on the side of the house, and ensure everything was done properly and to code. The day after I reached out to my sales rep and asked that he call me as I had a few things I was very very concerned about. He called me back and said he would take care of everything. So far, the only thing that has happened was the electrical inspection was rescheduled and I still have had no calls after the conversation or a person to come out and look at the roof holes or shingles that were thrown off my roof. Honestly, I wouldn't go with Sunation after this install. Solar companies are a dime a dozen nowadays, find a different installer. read more

We inherited our SUNation-installed solar panel system when we bought our house in Bellport, LI. Since then, we've had to have one panel replaced (after I dropped a window air conditioner on it!), and we needed our system checked to resolve a minor issue. Both were easy to arrange, the technicians arrived on time and were friendly and knowledgeable, and the issues were fully resolved - even though our specific panels aren't manufactured any longer, SUNation found another model that looks almost identical. In addition, the roof on our screen porch began to leak, and our SUNation tech happily got on a ladder to ensure that the panels were not the source of the leak (they weren't - a skylight was). This company came highly recommended to us as one the premier solar panel installers in Long Island so my husband and I put our trust that during these times of the pandemic, Sunation would do the right thing by following all the protocols mandated by NYS. Unfortunately, on the day of the install, all but 1 of the 5 installers that showed up at my home ignored the mandate to wear a mask. Additionally, 1 installer got sick with a stomach virus and instead of being sent home immediately by the supervisor, remained at my home, used my bathroom several times and while going in and out of my home, did NOT wear a mask or gloves. I ended up getting a horrible scare thinking I had contracted Covid-19 two days later which resulted in a hellish ordeal for me, my family and co-workers....not a good experience at all. read more

Very happy with the staff and the installation of my solar system. I have had the system a little more than a year and it's performing exactly as they predicted. Very nice people to deal with, I am glad to recommend them to others considering a solar system for their homes. Government tax credits, that SunNation explained to me were received, but you still have to consider this an investment for the future due to the remaining cost of the system. I wish the government tax credits were even more generous, It would help people who are on the fence about going solar, make the decision easier.... SUNation has an amazing financing plan with no money down and they can guarantee a smaller monthly payment and you end up owning the system completely no leasing so once its paid for your electric bill is ridiculously small. The inverter in the basement is very clean with organized wiring, and the solar tiles on the roof are pin straight and perfectly level, it looks beautiful. They really promised alot and failed to keep their word and promise in multiple aspects I really dont recommend anyone go solar because it not worth getting in debt and having a system that does not function as promised and have damage done to your roof. The first person I spoke to pauline promised a solar panel instalation with a tesla battery I started the paper work and a few months went by then they changed Pauline as my rep to James he scheduled my instalation and I did not receive a tesla power bank with my instalation he told me that there must have Been a confusion cause they do not normally include them in their installs. I was promised 120 percent of my homes power production but the systems has never produced that much power for me it doing a little more than 70 percent so my I still pay around 60 dollars of electricity on top of the solar panels. They told me I would get exactly 12700 dollars of tax reimbursement so that I can pay off half of the instalation I got about 7000 and now have have to pay the difference on top of the 15 year loan. That 5,700 that I have to immediately pay back so there really is no saving as expected and the 0 money out of pocket cost is a lie. They told me that if my ceiling ever had a leak that I would need to call right away and that they would send some one immediately. Today my roof started leaking and they told me the soonest they would have some one out here would be a week. Both of my reps Pauline and James no longer work at sun Nation I have no one to go to for assistance and their service is piss poor I am really not happy with the desicion I made with this company to go solar. read more

We met with many solar companies and I was against it but my husband really wanted to do it so I agreed to meet with SUNation because a family member used them. The sales rep, Rohan, came and explained the process and warranty information so clear and upfront and did not push anything on us, unlike the other companies, that I agreed to go ahead with it. I did not want panels on the front of the house and Rohan understood and worked with us. People from other companies rolled their eyes when I said I didn't want the panels on the front. They took care of everything from the permits to the installation and my experience with them far exceeded anything that I could of ever imagined. The finished product looked amazing, and that's coming from someone who put the project off for years thinking that I wouldn't like how they looked up on my roof.
