We have had solar panels installed for over a decade (since Superstorm Sandy.) Had a maintenance check and our techs Alex and Antonio were amazing. Very polite and professional! They helped us bring down a squirrel's nest humanely and happy to say the mother squirrel has relocated the babies. I'm so glad I called Empower and these techs were sent. Also, we have had perfect performance from our solar panels all these years. I recommend Empower 100%. read more

I have solar panels thru this company (Empower) for about a year now..its been a total nightmare, started with the 1st lie about no cost for my electricity usage, 2nd lie my tax credit amount, 3rd lie my monthly solar panel bill amount, 4th lie and how my bill will be lowered after the tax credit..All was a pack of fkin lies. I still pay for electricity a small amount plus all con Edison tacked on fees( another disgrace company) my monthly bills for the solar panels was quoted $250 but I'm billed $289 per month plus my con ed bill...oh don't worry you will receive a $12,000+ tax credit (federal) to help pay off your $38,000 loan and a state tax credit also for thousands.. yeah we'll I was issued $6000 for federal and still awaiting approval for $3000 for the state , $9,000 total, barely moved the dial on this loan..and they don't lower your monthly cost after paying down your loan as stated by the sales rep. I pay almost an extra $300 that I can not afford in this economy, Believing I would trade out one bill for another, benefitting in the long run, both for me and our environment..I was bamboozled into paying 2 bills for the same production... Let's not talk about how they had to come back to my house and also troubleshoot these solar panels because they did not work for the first couple of months . I'm really thinking I should sue them. I have the rep in my house on recording telling me all these lies. read more

Due to an unfortunate series of events, the contract for rooftop solar never got started. Their Dir. of Customer Experience acknowledged in voicemail and email that a refund was due under their contract. Amount of refund should have been $4,258. However, Empower management never responded to me emails and letters. They didn't argue that the refund was not due...just didn't respond. That's not the way a reputable firm with any integrity should treat their clients. I'm disappointed and upset. read more

Before Empower, my highest electric bill was $356...after Empower I am consistently paying well over $450/ month and am constantly restricting my usage in the home so as not to over use from the grid. I reached out and spoke to a representative 3 months ago and have yet to hear back. We just want to know if there is something faulty with our system. We had absolutely no guidance on how to use the Tesla app and how to monitor the system....this is by far the worst and most costly decision of my adult life. I would give them 0 stars but it isn't an option. read more

Amazing Sunpower panels, world class service and outstanding experience. We initially installed 43 panels a year ago (1/2021) and then added an additional 12 panels several months later. We have generated so much energy and the savings keep coming. Kyle Solomon is the reason we started with Empower, and keep recommending it to our friends. Kyle was professional, knowledgeable and knew the product inside out. He was patient with all our detailed questions and provided much assurance that this investment was worth it. He was able to calculate the numbers and articulate the entire process in a way that anyone could understand. We never felt rushed or pressured when we talked to Kyle. He was extremely professional and we couldn't have ask for a better Sales Professional. Byron was extremely efficient and patient with us as well. He gave us systematic updates every 2 weeks and we felt he guided and hand-held us through the entire installation process. He got our plans approved by the DOB so expediently and our panels installed in such a short timeline. Byron then coordinated with Jared (who came to install). We then had Alexandra coordinate our 12 add-on panels; again Jared came to install. I wanted to thank you Empower and the staff we've dealt with for all the help they've provided from start to finish. There are a lot of solar companies out there and you guys made the experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible. And you were mindful with our request to get it installed ASAP. IF YOU'RE GOING TO INSTALL SOLAR PANELS- GET THEM ALL INSTALLED IN ONE SHOT. DON'T UNDERSHOOT THE NUMBER AND ADD PANELS LATER. The only criticism I can give is that when they came to install the additional 12 panels-- they put too many panels on 1 string so the breaker kept going off-- leaving us with days to weeks without production on multiple panels. It took 6 site visits over 3 months (May-July 2021) to trouble shoot out which string was overloaded and to fix the problem. Overall, we felt not only did we get the most reliable solar panels in the market; the buying/installing experience was equal in caliber to the reputation of the solar panels. You guys live up to the brand of Sunpower. Thanks again for the great great experience. read more

After months of delay, Empower tried to install 7 solar panels on our newly gut-renovated Brooklyn townhouse. The technician clearly did not know what he was doing. In order to make room on the electrical panel in the basement for the hook-up, he combined several wires haphazardly into the same breakers. Before my eyes, the entire panel box started to smoke. Rather than shut off the main electrical switch, the technician ran out of the basement and called the fire department. The fire that resulted from his error, along with the damage caused by the fire department's water hoses and pick-axes, completely destroyed our basement and some of our ground floor. This was a new renovation with an entirely new, upgraded 200amp electrical system and panelboard, and we had just moved in. I understand that mistakes happen. But Empower's consistent refusal to acknowledge any wrongdoing and to compensate us in any way for the damage to our new house, for the insurance deductible, for the cost of rewiring the basement, for the cost of reinstalling a security system, and for the inconvenience that they caused us three days before Christmas is inexcusable. I should say that even when our system was hooked up a month later (we needed to install from our own pocket a second breaker box for Empower to use), they forgot to submit the paper work for the property tax break, so I have yet to receive that. What is more, for the two years that we've had the system, our panels have produced less than half the kWh predicted for us. As it is, I am paying considerably more each month for the loan than I make. Do not use. read more

Even though, I worked with these folks in the middle of the pandemic, the process was quick and easy. We did have to wait a while, like the rest of the world, for building materials and such to show up. However, installation was quick, the system looks good (as much as a solar system can look good), and their communication was consistent and clear. Probably the thing I'm happiest with is that they underpromised and overdelivered. Since the system went active in March, my electric bill is even less than they said it would be (my last bill was $0 (plus administrative fees that ConEd slaps on) in the middle of a heat wave). Their paperwork said I'd have an ROI in about 6 years, but if this keeps up, according to my Excel, that'll be about 2 years (depending on how the winter goes with less sun and greater strain on my heating elements). This is even more notable as we moved nearly everything onto our electric: my car is a 100% plug in, we converted the heat and water to electric mini-splits and an electric water heater, respectively. In short, they picked out a great system and were a delight to work with. read more

I am writing with a lot of gratitude after an amazing experience working with Empower Solar. My husband and I got estimates from 3 solar companies, and we had the chance to see how much Empower went above and beyond the rest. Not only did they offer us more total Sunpower panels for more energy production, they offered it at the same price as other companies that were offering us 1/3-1/2 the total panels (two other companies offered the same total price as empower but with a fraction of the panels, it would have been a rip-off so be careful which company you go with). In addition, only Empower offered to get us setup with the New York State special subsidized solar loan program, that gets you an amazing interest rate and is managed by the state of New York to help homeowners go solar (all of the other companies exclusively used private solar financing that didn't have this benefit, and upon researching it further anyone getting solar in NY should do it through this program if possible, its a no brainer). We were so lucky to work with Beth Austin, she was able to do the entire solar education and quote process with us virtually because that was what we preferred, and I cannot exaggerate how much she was a no pressure salesperson. She answered all of our questions by email diligently and was patient, never pressuring us or using any sales tactics, and we chose her because at the end of the day we trusted her and she gave us by far the best offer. If you research it, empower's reputation proceeds them too with nearly 20 years of experience. There are so many solar startups that just don't compare. Highly recommend working with Beth, she was AMAZING through the whole process. Byron was great at communicating with us throughout the permitting process, and Jared and his team did an amazing job coming to our home for the install (they got it all done in 2 days and were amazing at communication and cleanup). And now here I am on my first day of solar energy, watching as my panels are making more energy by far than the energy we are using, knowing all of that will save us money in the future! And with amazing sunpower warranties and a great local company I trust if any issues come up. Thank you Empower! read more

Our experience with EmPower Solar was incredibly disappointing. It started out great... but in the back of my head, I was weary of why NO ONE else in our area uses them.... Now we know why. 4 years later, we have no solar, they broke our contract, and most likely we won't be able to get solar. They did return our money - hence the 2 stars, instead of 1 -- but only after holding over $13K for 4 years, dragging their feet, and then literally breaching our contract by saying they can no longer honor the price they were contractually obligated to honor. But by this point, we just wanted our money back anyway... I'm happy to elaborate if anyone is interested... I'm just so disappointed. We were very excited for solar - even if we wouldn't have reaped the financial benefit. We thought it was worth it. Just so I'm not misleading - 1 of those years was delayed because of Covid (which I acknowledge is not their fault) - but the other 3 certainly were. And the worst is that 3 years ago, we had another contract in place for essentially the same price with a very prominent company in our neighborhood -- and now it'll probably be significantly more expensive. So thanks to Empower, not only are we screwed out of solar - but the world lost one more opportunity at a small piece of renewable energy. read more

11.2 kW SunPower Solar Panel System installed by Empower! 117% powered by the Sun now!! In 2009, I had 29 Sunpower panels installed by EmPower Solar in Island Park, NY - they have been overproducing for the last 13 years on the south side of the roof [I did this instead of buy a new car]. In 2022, I added 13 more panels to the north house roof, and the two systems are overproducing. I just love it. I was recently in New York City for a 4 day conference and used "mySunPower" app to monitor the system. All in all, still a great quality system and their service and support are great. I just had netting installed on my older 2009 system to stop birds from nesting underneath. If your thinking solar on Long Island - just get EMPOWER - save time and money and go with the best. read more

Been with empower for about 2 years and not fully happy about it. The micro inverters keep failing quite often. They wont actively monitor and when I start getting bills from PSEG I have to call them. While they come and fix it, they do not reimburse for the loss and they always say they raised a case with sunpower and it never gets resolved in my favor. So its as good as useless. They never told me that storms can cause solar to stop generating. When Isais happened my system did not generate for 6 months and I was using up my solar credits and then entire winter I had PSEG bills every month. Now 7 or 8 microinverters failed and I have PSEG bills for June and July (peak summer months). They sent me a bill for $343 for repair, pending approval from sunpower. So essentially empower never takes direct responsibility for this install and are just middlemen. Just not very happy about this purchase. read more

I was absolutely amazed the great service, outstanding knowledge and great work that empower did for me and my family. My PSEG bill went down from 300s to $10 per month. I shopped around for a few months getting feedback from various companies and then spoke with Corey @ EmPower. He helped us through the entire process and answered all the questions that i had been skeptical with from other companies. He had an answer for every question i had (did extensive research). He broke down the expenses and provided us with the savings and timeline. From the system that we have, we will be getting 108% return. I am also getting a substantial tax credit and an amazing 18 month no interest loan as well. The installation team led by a young guy named Andrew was better than expected. he was very professional and went out of his way to accompany us with the entire installation (from working with the days we were available to coming back at night to do the interior work). I would highly recommend Corey R as a salesperson...send him an email, linked in,FB, or contact him via the company. by far, the best i've ever expected. read more

EmPower Solar - my new solar panels! - Solar Installation Near Me - Bethpage, New York

We had such a great experience with this company. Our neighbor used them and sent us the recommendation. From sales, to project management to install everyone was super professional and as excited about our project as we were. NYC/ConEd isn't the quickest with permits, sadly it just is the deal, our project manager keep checking in and letting us know we weren't forgotten. I have no doubt they were doing everything they could to keep things in motion with the city which is hard during a pandemic. We got installed weeks earlier than expected. The panels got turned on today and it's really amazing to look at the app and see we are already using less energy than we are producing. Totally recommend them. read more

Used to be 5 stars but moving to one. My solar system was installed back in 2019 and a I received a call about 2 months ago saying that Empower had never closed the permit on my install and they needed some information so they can close the job out (I don't know how this got missed for 2 years). Well, guess what? The entire system was not installed to code and they are now asking me to start redirecting my HVAC ducts to get the system to code. On top of that, they won't ever get back to me on the next steps to resolve this problem. So now I have a system that isn't to code without a way to resolve the problem. Clear violation of the warranty in the contract but I suppose that doesn't matter?? Oh also - my roof leaks now. This should also be covered under warranty. read more

Excellent solar company that I am happy to recommend. If you take your time and do your research you will quickly find that the solar installation field is full of crooks and con artists. This company is honest and upfront about costs and time lines. They only carry top quality systems and quality installations, and I was happy with both the on site staff and office staff. The price might be a little higher than other companies but in this field of business you get what you pay for. read more

I cannot say enough how absolutely satisfied that I am that I went SOLAR - but even happier that I went with SunPower by Empower! This was by far the best home improvement project I have ever undertaken - no regrets, no guessing, complete confidence and satisfaction. I had gone to a local home improvement show and was bombarded by numerous solar companies and completely confused, disenfranchised and gave up on proceeding with a system. Until I heard about EmPower. From the day COREY ROBERTS contacted me and worked to assess my situation, to sitting down and thoroughly explaining ever aspect of this proposal and signing the paperwork to proceed, he was absolutely no pressure and professional! Next steps by DYLAN ROLLERI to get my project going were completely seamless. He knew I was intent on making this a speedy process and I am glad I was able to assist with getting my permits approved. Dylan maintained constant contact and I knew at any moment exactly where we were in the process. Dylan was very accommodating in setting up delivery and installation, working around my crazy schedule. Onsite installation by DAVID MECKES was lightning fast! His entire team was so friendly, efficient and professional. They banged out my project quicker than I could have imagined. David's follow up visit to complete the work and commission wrapped everything up in a nice package! So far my system has met all of my expectations! So easy to monitor and the panels look great! I will be happy to mention my chance run in with SAM at the beach a few days ago; as one of my installer he had such kind words and his comments were sincere and appreciated! Once again, THANK YOU. I look forward to many years with the best Solar Panel System product and team around! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Avoid EmPower Solar and save yourself extreme frustration and please go with another company. Prepare to be treated like a transaction with ZERO customer service. If I can give less than a 1-star rating I would. The last 5 months of signing on with EmPower has been a tremendous disappointment and mentally draining. As a customer/client I wouldn't want this experience for anyone but I have reached a breaking point where I can no longer feel confident EmPower will deliver on what was promised in the original contract agreement. I was never told upfront that this may be a 6-month process. I had a number of other highly qualified vendors that I was considering and decided to take a leap of faith and signed on with EmPower expecting professional service and the project being completed in a timely manner. My family made a $40K commitment that has now extended into a 5-month process from hell. I am made to feel like I am held captive to supply chain delays with no clear ETA for parts delivery. I have been patient and willing to be empathetic with supply chain issues but receiving an email on 10/11/2022 from the Sr. Project Manager - Alexandra Buckley informing me that we were still 2-3 weeks out on the supply of M425's and for me to consider a change to M420's with less efficiency was too much for me to take. Sadly, I am no longer excited about going solar powered for my residential needs. I will NOT recommend EmPower to anyone I know. If I cannot get the materials agreed upon in our original contact M425's within the next 2-3 weeks and installation begins I am no longer interested in continuing with my contractual agreement with EmPower. After 5 months, I am still waiting for the panels to arrive and be installed. Very disappointed client. read more

I moved into my new house after Hurricane Sandy destroyed my old one. Soon after moving in 2015 we began interviews for solar. We took our time as our accountant wanted us to wait until we were here over a year to see our bills and of course things come up along the way. During that time I had many companies come while I investigated panel types and as much as I could learn. None of the companies I interviewed to the point of a roof evaluation told me I needed a new roof with exception to EmPower. I ended up having many roofers come and my roof was in terrible shape. All the other companies were willing to install even though in the end I would have had to have them come and remove, store and reinstall out of my pocket. That being said besides that Corey our salesman went above and beyond every step of the way. He came to my home more then once and spent so much time with us. He answered every call, email and questions I had. Through all our decisions he was patient and professional and honest with us. The financing portion of this was also helpful and transparent and as easy as one could expect. Our project manager Byron at the next stages through install as well as the crew that was here were amazing. You wouldn't have known we had men on our roof because they were impeccably clean and courteous and did a fantastic. As for performance of my panels I can't say enough for this. My panels are providing more then I need and sending back to the grid despite being February and lots of rainy days read more

Im happy to give this review as my experience was very positive with Empower. I absolutely love my panels and the value it has added to my house and wallet! Special thanks to salesperson Scott McDonnell who was very nice to work with along the way, made things very easy and clear, and didn't disappear once it was done. Since the events in this review, Empower conducted a review of the situation. They recognized that their customer service employees could have handled the situation better and identified Solar Edge's lackluster fulfillment of the warranty as the root of the problem. While I accept that Empower will work to improve its customer service and I accept that much of the blame belongs with Solar Edge, I cannot give 4 or 5 stars as this is a problem capable of repeating itself as long as Solar Edge is involved. In the end, Empower was attentive and concerned. I give them credit for working to make things right. read more

Just had my solar installed yesterday! After a year of research and quotes from companies, reviews, systems, material, panels used I finally decided on EmPower. Boy did my research payoff. Corey the salesman explained everything from the types of panels to the options. He didn't waste my time by trying to push me in a direction I wasn't interested. He was knowledgeable and helped me come up with a plan that fit best for what my wants and needs were. Then it moved to Byron my project manager. He was there to explain where we were in the process and ensure it all was taken care of. Corey was still checking in throughout the process. Install day came. My solar was installed last week. First a short boring description of how I ended up with EmPower (and so glad I did)! I did a lot of searching for solar companies. I almost signed with one company but after investigating that company, I saw a warning from the BBB (the Better Business Bureau) warning consumers that the particular company I was researching failed to respond to informational requests. That being said, I started over again. After a lot of research, I found Empower Solar. I tried hard but could not find anything negative about them. In fact, all I saw were glowing reviews. I researched their product (SunPower panels) and found that was one of the two top rated power producing panels in the industry. I spoke to their agent, Matt Brill, who was informative, returned calls right away, and suffered through my incessant questions. We finally agreed upon a price and design that was acceptable to both of us and we moved ahead. Empower Solar put me in touch with the financial institution --which was top-notch in my dealings with them-- and having obtained the funds, the project moved ahead. Empower obtained the PSEG and Town permits. Their project manager, Dylan Rolleri, was always available by phone to answer my questions, and kept me updated on every phase of the project by text, email, and phone. Empower then sent a team to install the panels and do the electrical work on the days they promised. It was a two-day install. Their foreman, Mike Conforti, headed up a team of workman. Their work was professional, clean, neat, and they were responsive to any questions that I had as I hovered over them (which probably slowed them down)! On the 2nd and last day, Mike walked me through every step of what I needed to know, and turned the power on. I have been ecstatic! Great job, great company, excellent response time to the customer (me), and although it is winter and the sun is not out much, I am already seeing the panels producing well over 200% of the energy that I am using! I highly recommend this company, the quality of the panels they use, and most of all, the wealth of knowledgeable people they employ!! read more

Honesty, integrity, professionalism, courtesy, mindful of details and just an all around fantastic group to work and interact with from the start to the completion of this project. In short I really could not ask for more. I went to another solar installer before Empower and really felt like I was given a major run around by the other solar installer when it came to them telling me about the condition of my roof. Basically they tried to give me a load of BS about my roof condition most likely to get me to replace my roof with a roofer I'm sure they'd have been happy to recommend. Being a highly skilled home DIY'r I was absolutely the wrong person to say things like that because I installed that roof myself years ago and have had 0 issues with it. Empower was straightforward and in my opinion spot on honest about everything, including my roof condition. They advised me about some repairs I needed to do for the install and one that was to my benefit as well. As of a few days before writing this review we've been sending a crap ton of power back to the grid and immediately cut my electrical bills in half. Once the insanely low interest loan is paid back our bills will be just the monthly connection fee which will be about 6% of what we were paying. read more
