NY State Solar - my represwntative

We had been approached by NYSS about 1.5-2 yrs ago to discuss solar installation at our home…read more Initially, things went smoothly and then we had issues with our town government which held up our progression. After a somewhat chaotic experience, today we had the pleasure of meeting Sean Jackson from NYSS. Sean took the time to thoroughly explain the solar program from soup to nuts. He spent about 2 hrs with us, and we found him to be extremely helpful, professional & knowledgeable about all things solar. We were looking to lower our energy costs while pursuing a more environmentally friendly option. Sean helped us navigate the preparation and installation of solar panels. Kathryn was another person at NYSS who we spoke to at the initial start of our solar conversation - she put us in touch with Sean and overall, we were very pleased with our experience. If anyone is considering going 'solar', I would definitely recommend speaking with Sean Jackson - you won't be disappointed.

Every company has told me no and that I'm not qualified but this company made things happen with absolutely no credit or income required. The panels look fabulous, I'm so glad I made the switch to Solar power. The install crew left some mess around the house but they made sure it was flawless before they wrapped up. It was a quick install and I have no regrets or complaints.

They have refused to place my forced hot air furnish which was contaminated with mold and all reports were sent to them. I just got to call today. How can you charge so many for electrics? When the panels are sitting, gathering leaves and c*** behind my garage. If you have any questions, you can contact me at cegfishin@gmail.com

He walked us through the process, the benefits of solar and what set up makes most sense for us. He also was able to get us great pricing which was almost 10% lower than other estimates. Paperwork and payment was a breeze! Once the permit was approved (took about 5 weeks after signing the agreement), they came and installed the panels in a few days which was impressive (probably lucked out with availability). The install crew (was literally an army! about 8-9 guys) came promptly at 7:45AM (15 minutes early which was great) and was finished by 1PM. The head of the crew walked me through the process and closed out great showing me the app and next steps. Clean up was also fantastic as nothing was left behind. Currently we are waiting for the inspection so we can start banking the unused solar for future use. But still we are generating over 45 kWh daily (on a sunny day) and our average usage is about 30 (we have 2 EV's) so we are about 150% efficiency which is great. Though we can not bank yet, we are still utilizing solar power so our electric bill for the past week will be minimal. All in all, SUNation Energy is extremely professional, very knowledgeable and customer service seems to be a top priority to them. My neighbor and inlaws are now interested in solar and will be referring them to SUNation and Rob Moser - they also have very nice cash incentives for referrals!!!

This is where Tesla Energy dropped the ball repeatedly. they provided inaccurate information and failed to follow through on promises. It's 8 months later and we still have not had our problems resolved. If you have any problems, you are not able to speak with anybody. I have written numerous emails to try to resolve problems and nobody gets back to you. You can only speak with your Project Advisor and he is very limited what he can do according to him. we are happy with the energy system but the customer service is a disaster. I am concerned about the future of the system if we run into any problems. I am hopeful that somebody will contact me so I can recommend Tesla to friends and neighbors.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY Update: Roof still leaking from brackets due to poor installation. Tesla will not come take care of damages unless we pay them to come out. DO NOT use these people. Absolutely not recommended.Big mistake.

My journey started in 2021 with a 20 panel system and fast forward to 2023 I'm having an additional 10 panels added to my system (needed additional panels to offset power consumption for 2 EV's, ductless system, etc.). I waited to write my review to gauge how the service and support experience would potentially change after the inital installation and I can say Dan and his team has been just as competent, professional, supportive, etc as the initial consultation. My gripe with the other 'solar guys' is they all sounded like car salesmen focusing on making a deal, get in and get out.....in contrast Dan actually sat and took the time to explain the whole process in great detail from start to finish and didn't end until all questions, comments and concerns were addressed. I will use Built Well Solar for all my solar needs for foreseeable future.

With my first home I requested quotes from multiple companies and either didn't like their sales pitch, price or equipment. Built Well was a refreshing change. No pressure, just a presentation of the value added by their installation. They use state of the art equipment and did indeed, eliminate my electric bill. They performed the work on time and on budget. When I sold my first home the buyers mentioned that the solar panels were one of the factors in making their decision. Needless to say, there was no shopping around when it came time to equip my second home. They are hands down, the BEST solar company and I liked the fact that they are a privately owned Long Island based company. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking of added solar panels to their home.

I did a really deep dive before hiring them... comparing every ConEd approved contractor to see who had the best reviews, BBB ratings, etc and GHL had the highest marks everywhere. I spoke with Geoff initially, who is very helpful with getting us set in the right direction and he squeezed us in for an energy audit in a reasonable amount of time. Got the energy audit done with Jon, which was really interesting and gave me a full picture of the limitations of my home, but then also the places where we could make vast improvements. Jon is great by the way and took a bunch of time with us to answer our questions (we had a lot). They ended up doing blown in fiberglass insulation in the crawlspace below the roof. They scheduled this in a timely fashion, showed up right on time, finished quickly and cleaned up to our tenant's satisfaction. The installers were very polite, helpful and professional. Since I wasn't about to squeeze in that tiny crawlspace, they took plenty of photos of the work to let me know how it looked. Based on some rough estimates from my smart thermostat, we now run our boiler 25% less than before insulation. Keep in mind, that's just with insulating the crawlspace. If you're able to do your walls too, I'd assume these numbers could go even higher, but we couldn't. After rebates from ConEd and the IRA it virtually cost us nothing. As long as the rebates are in place, I'll likely bring them back every year to insulate something else. It's really a no brainer, especially with this company which is run like the Navy.
