It's hard for me to leave a 5 star review, but after working in Midland once a month for the past year and eating a lot of mediocre food, I'm leaving this review right here. I walked in to Sun Wok 15 minutes before closing time without a lot of hope, I've been let down by Yelp reviews in the past depending on the area, but these people KILLED IT! Spicy sechuan dumpling appetizer was fantastic! Miso soup was flavorful and steaming hot on a cold January night, and the vegetable yakisoba was perfectly executed. I'm so pumped about this joint that I inhaled all of my food without taking a single photo...and I'm going back tomorrow for more of those spicy dumplings! read more

I made an account almost specifically to review this restaurant! They've really been a blessing to have because their food is always hot and well-priced, and the staff are super friendly. I've eaten there well over 30 times since opening and I've never been disappointed. Unlike most restaurants, their food is consistently delicious-- I never get tired of my usual! But there's so many other menu items I want to eat. The best thing to do is call ahead, as they're not fast food and need time to prepare your meal. I've heard some folks complain about the price, but y'all have to understand that what Chinese food you're used to eating is cheap because it's made cheaply. At Sun Wok, they put care into choosing and making their food, so they are entitled to charge for their efforts. If I pay $18 for a chicken bento, a lemon jasmine tea, and a Dr. Pepper (today's order!) for the road, it's worth every dime spent because not only is it fresh and local, but I almost always have leftovers for a snack later-- and it all reheats well. Bottom line is if you appreciate good food, supporting local businesses, and want somewhere to be a regular, this is your place!! I recommend it to all of my friends and out-of-towners looking for a good bite to eat. read more

The absolute best Chinese food in midland!!!! Love everything that we have tried. I have recommended to 5-6 people and they have all tried it and loved it too. Everything is cooked fresh while you wait. This place is take out but they do have chairs to sit in while you are waiting and I saw one table to sit at. I guess you can eat there if you want to. We have eaten here twice and both times it was excellent! The first time we got sesame chicken, which was good and large portions. Sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was lightly fried and the sauce was good. And orange shrimp, the orange sauce was amazing!!! It had bits of fresh orange zest and a slightly spicy bite to it. Tonight we had kung pao chicken, OMG it was awesome! The chicken was tender, the vegetables were crisp and plentiful. It was some of the best kung pao I have had. Their food is not very spicy so if you crave spice ask for more peppers. They are quick, the food is hot when you pick it up and the service is great. read more

I ordered the Honey Chicken and I didn't really like it. It has sesame seeds on it and very little honey sauce. They were fried chicken too and that's not what I was expecting but I should have asked. All the honey sauce was later found at the bottom of the plastic bag covering my napkins. Those who work in this area know that it can be slim pickings for lunch, but this place is actually great! Call in and it'll be ready when you get there. This place is best for carry out as there are only a couple tables in the place (Or could maybe sit outside on Starbucks patio next door). Portions are VERY generous. A lunch special comes with entree, rice/noodles, cream cheese rangoon, and a bowl of soup. Add a drink and you're still out the door for less than $10! read more

Staying at nearby hotel, this place is great. The fried rice was so-so, but the orange chicken had so much flavor.

Food had great flavor and there was a lot of it. I'm going back soon. Next time plain rice fried rice was missing something.
