I can't believe I haven't updated my review…read more Brought a friend here for dinner. There were three of us. My friend and I had the 6-oz Filet Mignon USDA. I got mine with caramelized onions, baked potato, and fresh veggies. We both got it medium rare. She got hers topped with Point Reyes Blue Cheese crumbles. Her daughter got Filet of Petrale Sole Meuniere. First came a basket of bread. But, two of us are gluten-free. The Waiter made a point to check with the kitchen on all our meals. The steak came out smelling like garlic. It looked so much better than the picture I posted. It was so tender it cut with a butter knife. The color of the steak inside was perfect medium rare. The flavor on the taste buds is what dreams are made of. Some meals we remember for a lifetime. Because every bite is just that scrumptious. I can still almost taste it by just thinking about it. For dessert, we got the classic Bananas Foster, which is made tableside. It is dinner and a show. Bananas Foster is such a decadent treat. The show begins with the melting of the butter, and the aroma will still your breath away. Then add in the brown and white sugars. Several alcohols are used. I believe they use Banana liquor as well as rum. Then a fire is lit in the pan. It sparks when the cinnamon is added. Then the bananas are cooked ever so lightly. Sometimes, too much liqueur is added, and the flavor is off. However, on this night, it was spot on. The sugars and liqueur create a caramel sauce for the bananas, and vanilla ice cream is added. The ice cream that was used tasted like a French Vanilla ice cream with little flecks of vanilla. Each bite was a walk on a cloud. My friends had never had Bananas Foster before. I think they will be back if only for the Bananas Foster. The bananas and caramel with a kiss a vanilla ice cream just send your taste buds to heaven. Each bite will have you desiring more, even if you are beyond full. Each bite is so divine. It tastes so decadent that your mind will be blown that it is bananas and vanilla ice cream. I can't remember the name of our waiter. He was such a delight and made sure we had a great time. This was a meal I will remember for a long time. Thank you to the staff at Duke's Steakhouse. If you are looking for a luxurious and decadent dinner, this is the restaurant.

We went back at 4:40pm as instructed and still plenty of room in the bar, but yet they still would not see us. It wasn't until I asked if we could just sit down and we would wait for the service even if they were behind at that point, they allowed us to sit at the bar and we were waited on right away with no issue. Adrian knows us and we are very good customers there. I think some things changed in management, Kevin the waiter who has been there since it opened is no longer there and you could feel a different vibe going on in the restaurant. The happy hour menu has changed and my husband's favorite Chardonnay is no longer included, but Adrian bought him a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc which was very tasty for $8. Adrian is a wonderful bartender and we enjoy his service! Sad to hear Jenna moved on too! Why is it all the good people leave, but then you have Quincy at the chandelier bar yelling at customers, not serving customers, telling you he won't serve her until it's convenient for him. Thank goodness Larry was working at the sports bar after happy hour! He is a great guy and works so hard for the casino and his customers!

Every single time I come here, I'm gently greeted by a kind face at the front door, I'm immediately sat down and taken care of. I've had the pleasure of meeting Edson my first time here and it makes me happy to see he is still here today, still working hard with the same energy he had those couple years ago when I met him. It's really awesome to see a General Manager running around checking on all the tables with a smile on his face. That's the type of service that's rare nowadays. Don't get me started on the food. I could talk for days about it. Just know you'll never find quality food anywhere else in Reno other than here at Churrascos. What I'm really more impressed with, is the young men running around serving the meat. They are highly knowledgeable of the meat they're serving, they know just the right temperature to pick for you, and they are highly attentive. I've never met the owner but I bet you the owner is proud of the amazing work these guys do. It is damn hard to find workers like that. I am a permanent customer from now on because of my experience with these guys, they all made me feel right at home, seen, and taken care of. Thank you to the GM Edson and his team that night for always making me feel amazing with quality service, and a huge thank you to the owner who brilliantly hired these guys. Full of butter, sour cream cheese, bacon, bits, and chives. For dessert, I got the cheesecake which was very soft and delicious, the whipped cream that went with it tasted homemade and was very sugary. The service from Tony was top-notch. My drink was never empty and he greeted us with a smile. The ambience of the restaurant is very cool with a modern hunters retreat kind of feel. 100% honesty, the price of the meal isn't matching to the quality of the food that you receive. The steak was pretty underwhelming. And I got it medium, which I know maybe a lot for some. Very chewy for at least half of the steak.

My job recently sent me through Sun Valley many times a day. I saw the building, noticed the 2-story parking garage and the large, well-lit parking lot, and always something interesting on the marquee. So, on a bright Saturday morning that allowed me a day to enjoy sleeping in, I decided I was gonna finally get up to Hobey's for breakfast. I was impressed with the layout of the casino floor; a short straight walk to the Cafe entrance. A warm, inviting acknowledgment at the podium, and I'm seated right away. Within a few minutes, a super-friendly waitress is at my table pointing out their new menu... and the Breakfast Specials. I chose the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich and a Side Order of B&G's; I plan to have leftovers. I made a wise decision. The gravy is your typical cafe-style, white and creamy, but I swear I could taste a little extra Chef Love. A secret ingredient, maybe. My coffee cup was NEVER empty, and I didn't feel rushed to finish my meal. It was a morning well spent.

The foul odor of tobacco now permeates itself right into their dining room. They've moved every booth & table for reasons known only to the thoughtless management. They removed the seniors & youngsters items from the menu, cut the choices by at least by 50% & of course raised the prices. They even removed the recently remodeled bathroom's from the restaurant. Now you have to walk all the way back to the building's entrance to find one. Let's not dare mention the destruction of employee morale and removal of their employment benefits. Perhaps they should concentrate their growth to Las Vegas where people don't know any better or don't care. I made the reservation on Opentable which asked if we wanted the brunch menu or the regular menu, except that It was a buffet and the regular menu was not available. This restaurant is too cramped for a bunch of food stations. Customers and staff walking back and forth to the deck and in some cases into each other, no room to wait in lines or to walk around looking at the food stations while looking for the little signs to tell you what was where. Then the most disappointing part: the plates were really hot but the food was not. Lukewarm eggs benedict (ick) and potatoes and breakfast meats. Some of the non-breakfast dishes were flavorful like the chicken (very flabby skin but easy to take off) and the pork, but again, not hot and the rice that came with the chicken was crunchy as though it had been sitting on a counter top and not under the chicken in a chafing dish. Our check showed two buffets, one coffee and one iced tea and each of us paid 87.59, plus tip. Never again.

Not sure who the haters are but maybe they lost money in the casino. In the many time I have eaten there, it's always been good to great, and last night was GREAT! My buddy Mike and I make this a mandatory stop when he comes into town, so thanks, buddy, because I was gleefully pleased (and stuffed) when we finally waddled out after a truly enjoyable 2 1/2 hours. The Food: The bread basket and 2 types of butter is always a great way to start and the selection is tasty. Just have to be careful not to overindulge and ruin what follows. The pacing at Charlie's is welcome as they are not trying to turn tables quickly and allow you to enjoy each offering. Mike had the Cobb salad which is always a treat. Next up came the unexpected little mini short rib pies in a delectable crust. Three bites of pure heaven! We could have eaten 12 each and called it a night. A wonderful pallet cleanser of liquid sorbet followed as a prequel to our mains. Mike had the bone in pork chop which he gave a 9/10 to and I had the 6oz duck breast special over succotash cooked to a perfect medium. YUMMMMM!!! Some of the best succotash I've had and the duck was perfect. I ordered two sides, the roasted carrots and the baby summer squash, which again, were perfectly cooked and delicious. Now borderline too full for dessert, a glance at the menu and we couldn't resist. Sorbet for Mike and the deconstructed chocolate banana cream pie for me. I couldn't help myself and devoured the whole thing! We polished off a beautiful Willamette Valley Pinot and sat back and relaxed. The Ambience: For a casino steak house i think it shines pretty well. Fairly light and modern, and classy but not over the top. The spacing of the tables is excellent, so you are not abused by other people's conversations. A wonderful place for a date, I suppose. The Service: OK, this is where the 5 star rating really takes place. Being a great server I feel has become a lost art. Probably the main reason Mike and I make this a regular stop isn't the excellent food, but the friendship we have created with Donovan! He shines at his craft on a higher level than any restaurant I have visited. He's funny, concise, informative, etc.... Pure precision and perfection from start to finish. I'm honored to be able to consider him a friend, and it brings the dining experience to the uppermost level! Thanks Buddy. Probably a good idea to ask for his section when you dine there and you will understand. As always, will look forward to my next visit to Charlie's in a month or so. Cheers, JimG
