    Shrimp cocktails & shrimp ceviche
    Myrna S.

We went to Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant for brunch. They were pretty busy the day we visited, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was already packed with diners but as soon as we approached the hostess station, we were warmly greeted and shown to a 4-top booth in the rear of the restaurant, next to the buffet-- convenient. We ordered a round of drinks from our server, Susan and the lovely Latin bus-person dropped off some steak knives and extra napkins (unfortunately I didn't see her name tag). The buffet had a mixture of breakfast and lunch items: scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, sausage and bacon plus Eggs Benedict and then BBQ ribs, pizza, mashed potatoes and gravy, and beef stew. There's also a huge salad bar, cocktail shrimp and shrimp ceviche, the carving station where they were serving ham and prime rib, the omelette station and the dessert bar. 3 out of 4 of us tried the prime rib (I'm not really big on prime rib), and found it a little dry and almost inedible. Fortunately. I opted for mostly breakfast; their bacon is some of the best and I don't even like bacon but I make sure to eat a few strips whenever we have breakfast at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant. The eggs and corned beef hash were good too; I did get a BBQ rib and a little bit of beef stew. I liked it; both items tasted good. Overall, we had a nice dining experience: the food was mostly good, the price was decent and the service was friendly and attentive.

For the first time ever, we attended Bonanza Casino's "Uncorked & On Tap: Brewed & Crafted -Summer Edition at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Cafe" on 06/27/26. Quite a delicious and delightful experience! The Bonanza Hosts, Kitchen and Servers were EXCELLENT. Everything was SO DELICIOUS, and the service was impeccable. While the main course could have been hotter, the beer, provided by Loast Coast Brewery, AND the food overall, from the appetizer, to the salad, to the Main Course and finally the wonderful Dessert, was an unforgettable culinary experience. The Lost Coast beers, Downtown Brown, Tangerine Wheat, Hazy IPA, and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout were remarkable, and luckily all available at our area Liquor Stores. I believe there will be another Beer Dinner Tasting in September, and we plan on attending that one also!

We have a wonderful breakfast there today, I had my regular Heavenly Burger it was cooked to perfection. The fries golden brown and crispy. We had Cindy and Sonya . When going to the Branding Iron at Bonanza you can get anything on the menu at 9 am. Including spaghetti and meatballs!

Quaint, rustic... Southwest style in the sierras. Incongruous.

Nope. The Sunday morning crew was not on any type of game that involved customer service. Table was disgusting. The magazine I brought in stuck to it. You could see it had not been cleaned. Not to mention the tables are tiny for two people. The hostess' attitude was horrible. Asked to seat in an area farther from a crowd and got an eye roll and huff. Maybe that's why I got the sticky table... The waitress and assistant server were excellent. Full coffees on time, congenial personalities. Food delivered in a reasonable time with the obligatory check up that wasn't disruptive. I had the Bonanza Biscuits and Gravy. It was as expected. Decent, good portion, egg cooked just right. Hash browns were undercooked. Mostly still potato white without the browned crisp. Disappointed there. My son had the cowboy skillet. He inhaled it. It looked well prepared with an excellent presentation! Bottom line. Food was average but well prepared and presented Attending waitress was good Hostess and dining area sanitation was sub standard and disappointing. Could not recommend, but, bad days happen so I will give it a round two one day to check for consistency.

This review is for the Branding Iron Cafe inside Bonanza Casino. We stopped in for a brunch on a very busy weekend. It seems they serve all kinds of food at anytime of the day. Like home style that nobody seems to cook as good as Branding Iron does at their own home. Well today was breakfast and it was fantastic. The biscuits and gravy with crispy hash browns and bacon. Where too many restaurants go wrong is the gravy. It has to have some grease from sausage or bacon. It did here and I loved it. My wife had eggs Benedict and home fries which she loved as well. Coffee was hot and strong. It has a western motif like the entire casino. It was clean and there was zero smoke smell. But maybe the best part of our meal was the extraordinary service. We were taken care of and treated so well. This restaurant will see us again and it won't be long. So for big portions cooked just right at a very affordable price drop by.

We had a GREAT time at the casino this weekend. Great local casino. We did have a great experience at the steak house and casino! The food and liquor selection is awesome! I was surprised by the high end whiskey and tequilla selection at the bar! It is worth the trip just for this one! I had some ones I had always wanted to try including Handy rye, fantastic. They told us of their specialty bourbon margarita, which was delicious and may be a new summer favorite. David at the bar was an great server! The food was the rage at the bar. Robin was an awome host and suggested the blackened prime rim. This was echoed by others sitting at the bar, we HAD to get it. It was great. I ordered the Bison, which was really great. To top it off, we got cheesecake and the bread pudding bites. I don't eat much cheesecake, it was good. The bread pudding bites are also worth the trip.

Today is my son's birthday and he wanted to try Bonanza to eat, no gambling! So we met my daughter and husband at the restaurant and it is a nice looking restaurant! Good service, as the young man trying to get the milk shake machine to work! The older waitress did a good job! Food was good and we all enjoyed it! Thank you!

This is one of the oldest casinos in Reno , according to a staff member and it is run like a family business. The food was top notch in Cactus Creek Steakhouse inside the casino. The ambiance is typical of a casino and there is always someone to help you navigate the floor to find the restaurants.

    That's a Big One!

I took on two of the 1+lb Raptor burgers and fires. You also get a free milkshake if you can finish the burger and fries. Services has always been good here. A little noisy at times.

Is there a buffet every night?

The casino is still so smokey. They either need better ventilation or prohibit smoking completely. The patrons at the Horseshoe Bar were obviously overserved. Screaming drunks, stumbling people. Honestly, where is security? Our room was on the 19th floor. It was a corner room and actually quite nice (until it wasn't) the king bed was comfy, there was a chaise lounge and 2 chairs. We overlooked a train yard and metal recycling plant. If you looked up, instead of down, the view was quite nice. Then, it happened. Hot water was running brown in both sinks and the shower. I called the desk, they said let it run. We did. Still brown. The white wash cloths were discolored. She said the cold water is okay to drink. Ummm, no. I asked for bottled water to be sent up. At midnight, when it still hadn't arrived I called the desk. No answer. I affixed a note to the door asking to not knock, just leave the water, which they did. The only redeeming quality is Anthony's Chop House. I won't ever stay again.

Bed bugs, two room moves, and absolutely no mitigation plan!!!…read more I have never written a public review before, despite plenty of less than perfect experiences. I worked in the service industry for years and generally believe businesses deserve the opportunity to make things right. The Nugget had that opportunity and chose not to.. During our stay for Hot August Nights, we discovered bed bugs in room 1638. Security responded promptly, confirmed the issue, documented it, and moved us to room 2838. That replacement room had a long standing AC leak, saturated carpet, peeling wallpaper, and visible growth behind the wall covering. Engineering inspected it the next morning and told us we absolutely could not remain there. We were moved again, to room 1242. The frontline employees were kind, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Management was the problem. We repeatedly asked what the hotel could do to prevent us from carrying bed bugs into the next rooms or home with us. There was no laundry service, no heat treatment option, no containment procedure offered, and no written policy or protocol available when requested. We were allowed to move the same luggage and belongings from 1638 to 2838 and then to 1242 with no mitigation whatsoever. If we had picked up hitchhikers in the original room, we could easily have carried them through multiple hotel rooms and eventually home. We are now home and spending our own time laundering and heat treating our belongings because the property offered no assistance with this before our departure. Manager on Duty Cole Hughes was particularly disappointing. After initially avoiding speaking with us directly, he ultimately offered no meaningful assistance and told us, in substance, that once we left the property the problem would be ours. He then directed us back to Security, whose staff had already done far more to help us than management had. We requested management follow up in writing while we were still on property. No response. We requested information about what to do if we brought bed bugs home. No answer. We were told Risk Management would contact us in 7 to 15 business days. Before departure, I ultimately obtained the Risk Management phone number from Security myself. I called after returning home and left a message. This is what bothers me most: the Nugget responded to the rooms, but not to the guests. Moving us was necessary. It was not a complete response to a bed bug exposure. If this is what corporate ownership has turned guest service into, relocate, document, pass the customer to Risk Management, and wait for them to leave, it is incredibly disappointing. I am writing this because future guests should know: if you encounter bed bugs here, based on our experience, do not assume the property has a meaningful procedure in place to help prevent you from carrying them elsewhere or taking them home. Security and Engineering deserve credit. Management absolutely does not.

The J resort had a nice modern look throughout the hotel as you can tell with the modern art work. I loved the screen puzzle that displayed above the check-in desk. They had a nice screen I noticed too whilst at the pool. They have a cool little arcade center for kids and some restaurants here and there as well as a gift shop. I loved the hall and decor by the elevators but I didn't particularly like the sign in the the elevator that says please don't jump. That kinda makes me nerves as to why would they say that unless their elevators were unstable. The room was nice and clean with a fridge with some complementary water, microwave, and a huge bathroom. It was lacking a safe thought. We went down to the pool but had to bring out towels down as there were no towels by the pool that we saw. Checking out was a but harder as my husband had to call to check out & receipt wasn't emailed until 5 in the evening. It would've been nice to see right away to correct any discrepancies if any. I've been here at least 20 times and every single time they widdle down your money and you will leave with nothing you came in with. Slots are horrible, Keno never hits, not sure about video poker but I'd be willing to bet (with a much better chance at winning than if I were to bet anything here) that the poker is garbage too. Standard service, not anything to write home about. This is clearly a hang out spot for people that are already poor and Baldinis makes good and sure they stay that way. You know how you walk in a casino and hear or see lots of people hitting jackpots? Not this place. Just people chain smoking to calm their anxiety of getting robbed once again by the infamous Baldinis. Terrible casino. They will try and hook you with promotions but they are only to get you to show up and feel like you have a chance at winning something but you will indeed win nothing so save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. They cut out approximately 1/2 of their senior menu, which is ridiculous. A lot of the locals come there and many are seniors the options on the menu amount to almost nothing for seniors now.. BRILLIANT SND THOUGHTFUL! Example on the regular breakfast menu they HAD a chicken fried steak it was a big chicken fried steak like all the other breakfast restaurants in the area now when you order that you get a small chicken fried steak, which was originally from the seniors menu a very downsized small chicken fried steak. Once again that chicken fried steak is not available on the senior menu instead they're using that small chicken fried steak for the regular menu. You're paying almost double and getting 1/2 of the value. CHEAP!! Also, throughout the casino, it always reeks of cigarettes smoke at one point I thought it was a very nice casino.
