I bought from them when they were Tandem Solar, worked with maybe everyone one at the firm (Sean, Greg, Sarah). I researched every DIY seller on the net, Tandem was by far the most price competitive and comprehensive. I researched the heck out of every aspect of the project, asked a ton of questions, they were very patient and answered all my questions. Bought a 10kw system from Tandem, everything was delivered into my driveway, easy peasy. Tandem arranged for an engineer to provide the calcs and site plan for my permit. I had to buy some cabling separately, and some conduit for the home run to the panel, otherwise everything came from them. I bought the most efficient panels per square inch that they could find due to a space constraint, so the panels were the most expensive they sold, but those same panels were quoted elsewhere at a much higher price. Couldn't be happier. I see they are a new company now, so not sure about their set up. But their pricing still seems competitive. I am considering adding four more panels, not sure if shipping is cost competitive to the Bay, but I am definitely going to give them a chance to quote, they are my first choice for sure. read more

Update Jul 2020: Now I'm extra glad I didn't go with Tandem because Tesla just lowered prices to $1.49/watt. If I had gone with Tandem I would have barely saved any money vs Tesla. Fortunately I found vendors with much better prices from DIY forums, but even then I didn't save that much vs Tesla. At Tandem's prices there's no way DIY makes sense. I love that it's Greg responding to my review because he was the last person I chatted with on the phone at Tandem: Me: "Hey Greg! I'm just calling to follow up on my 3 unanswered emails about those accessories you quoted - any updates?" Greg: "We sent it to our wire guy and we'll get back to you soon!" [I never hear back] So... instead of taking my money (or even just saying no), Greg decides to intentionally mislead me and delay my install while I'm waiting on him. And now Tandem is virtue signaling about COVID in a Yelp response? Wow. Well at least I finally heard back from Greg :). Original Review: If you're looking for a deal on solar, don't bother with Tandem! Not competitive on price, and terrible communication. Tandem solar was friendly until I found a better price with another vendor. Then they were completely unresponsive and refused to honor their quote. I was planning to purchase a 8kw system from Tandem but found a significantly better price at another vendor. There were however a few accessory items that I could only find at Tandem. I worked with Sean Overbeck who was friendly at first, but once it was clear he couldn't get close to the price of the other vendor he stopped responding to calls & emails. Incredible service - Taking advice from Sean and a little direction along the way, we installed a system that was able to lower our power bill from $600.00 per month in the peak of the summer to $11.35 per month every month so far! Look, we spent north of $30k on our system, it is a large system and there were some hiccups on the way. The policies in place to help the end user with these hiccups is what puts Tandem in the top tier of service. Here is an example - Tandem has the customers pay them and then they pay the carrier for the freight - why? I'll tell you, when we recieved several dozen (I don't recall how many off the top of my head) panels that were damaged by FedEx, I called Tandem, spoke to a human, not 20 minutes going through an automated system, told them what was what, they told me what to do and shipped replacement panels out immediately. If I would have paid the shipping to FedEx or another carrier, I would have been on my own on dealing with the claim. I will, not would, I will do business with them again! read more

I would absolutely NOT recommend Tandem Solar for my next purchase. I selected them for my first time as their prices were better than most. Their staff were friendly. But is is important to receive and item in good condition. Their shipping was an abomination and they should be embarrassed. For context I'm in the process of expanding my current 10kw system. I had a small roof area which only required 6 panels. I ordered the railing, mounting, and hardware along with 6 Enphase Micro inverters from Tandem. Tandem shipping simply threw all hardware and inverts in one box with no packing material. Mounts, L brackets, bolts, and inverters all bouncing around together with no protection at all. I will be amazed if these beat up scratched micro-inverts last there expected life time. This was my first and last purchase from Tandem and shipping was $261. My previous purchases were from Alt-e and Revue. Both of those suppliers packaged my orders appropriately and items arrive in shiny new condition. read more

My goal for 2018 was to install solar. I didnt intend to do it so rushed in January, but thanks to the Trump tariff (sigh..), I had to accelerate the plans. I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy and naturally none of the turn key installers would answer my questions. However, as mentioned in the other reviews here, Greg and Sean were SUPER helpful, Greg spent 1+ hour combined on the phone with me, answering questions, making recommendations, etc etc. Then comes price. Unresponsive. Have sent the wrong product twice. Promised to send the right product two weeks ago, never sent it and are now MIA. Go elsewhere and avoid the headache. I had to use zip ties because I ordered two bags of 100 count clips and they sent me just 2 clips while I was on a deadline... I also ordered male Enphase caps and they sent me female caps. They promised to make it right by overnighting the right caps then disappeared. It's been two weeks. They need to charge more and pay someone for QC. read more

Just received my second order, also purchased from them in 2015. Very happy with the quality of the products that they offer and the competitive pricing. The staff is incredibly knowledgable. I worked with Sarah on my last order and she was fantastic, very responsive to e-mails. One of the competitive advantages of buying from Tandem is that they make sure that you get everything you need for your project. Sarah made sure that I had all of the correct roof rack mounting components for my specific order. I promised I would write a review good or bad and finally getting around to doing it. I did a fair amount of internet shopping for parts and Tandem was the most aggressive I found. So I sent them my city approved plans and they went through the drawings and came up with a punch list for me. That was easy! They then shipped everything out and while I did have a small problem with the shipping company (fedex or ups?) Tandem quickly took care of everything. During installation, we had a couple of newbie questions and Tandem was very patient answering our questions. Tandom Solar is the best solar company out there. Sean was incredible to work with. He was very responsive and knowledgeable. I spent months researching this and I can tell you I could not find anyone else that was even close to their price. They were 8% lower than their next competitor. I used the Iron Ridge system with the micro inverters. Everything is extremely well designed and truly was plug and play. I was able to do all the work myself with the exception of placing the panels. I hired a couple of high school kids and it took us 1.5 hours to install 33 panels. Purchased 10 Enphase IQ7 Plus micro inverters and order was canceled because inverters are in short supply and they required the purchase of complete system in order to buy IQ7 plus's. So I looked on ebay and there were some listed for individual sale but when I contacted the seller on ebay it was just Tandem solar price gauging and selling them for more on ebay. I called Tandem Solar about 14 305W Canadian solar panels and they sent me an estimate for $2660. For my surprise when I call them to order the panels they told me they have only 310W model which cost me $2930 . I checked their website and they are still selling the 305W model. They also added $85 Credit card fee which was not included in the estimate and the payment was by a debit card. , I called them they said they will refund me and they never did. Last year, after getting quotes from local solar installers, I decided that I would do my own installation to reduce cost and thus have faster return on investment. I did my research and scoured the web for equipment suppliers. Tandem was, by far, the best deal I could find. I put in a request for a quote for a complete system (racking, modules, SolarEdge inverter) and quickly recieved a PDF with the details, including a very reasonable shipping quote from SoCal to UT. During my permitting process, I made several tweaks to the system. Sean updated the quote several times and offered technical suggestions. When I finally pulled the trigger, the shipment was quick. I received tracking numbers, and in about a week I had two pallets of equipment in my garage for install. I couldn't be happier with the equipment and service!
