Sun Outdoors in Bend, Oregon is the Tethrow of RV Resorts. If you're not sure what I'm referring to then Google Tetherow Resort. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They are very very diligent to only welcome and quality RVs and travel trailers. Great dog park. It's also close to Anglow Park which has a small dog park as well as a big dog park off leash area. Back to the amenities at the RV resort... the men's and women's locker rooms both have steam rooms which are amazing! Definitely give them 30 to 40 minutes to heat up first and then go in and relax. I absolutely love the complementary coffee every morning and all day. Great Wi-Fi and fantastic place to work remote.

Great RV campsite in Bend. Clean, well run and large paver stone areas for camping. The dog park is great and the store has a few amenities.

    Inoperative

I paid $180 / night for a top tier site and this is what I got.. This is false advertising. Unacceptable

It was at the tail end of winter, with cold nights and wet days. Rooms have gas fireplaces, with outdoor seating and porches for warmer weather. Checkin was great in the main lodge. They had many friendly employees. There's a bar and restaurant here that I didn't have time to visit! The grounds have paved trails all over, with quick walks or bike rides to restaurants, bars, and outdoor activities. They have a free shuttle that can get you around to places quicker too! My room was gorgeous, with high ceilings, wood, and soft decor. The bathroom was very modern and comfortable. Worth the cost. Another place I really wanted to visit was the indoor heated pool area that looked amazing. Maybe next time! For the event we had catered amazing meals of local produce and meats, so many flavorful items. The event spaces all have a lodge feel to them as well, comfortable. I highly recommend staying here for a few days if you're in the area.

After a Google search, I found a place located right at Wanoga Sno Park. Because they were the only ones that came up on multiple Google searches and the ease of pickup and drop off right at the park, they were completely sold out. They referred me to Kevin at Advanced Performance. After a couple of calls to ask questions (I'd never snowmobiled before) we settled on 4 sleds (two singles and two doubles). It was about a 30 minute drive from Bend down in Sunriver, but easy to find the "shop" (which is really just an upstairs office above a home). Kevin was extremely helpful and enthusiastic about getting us on the trail for some fun, giving us a quick orientation to the trail system, making recommendations about places to go (and not go) and giving us basic tips on operating the snowmobiles. According to one family member familiar with snowmobiles, the sleds were nothing special (a pair of Polaris 550's and a pair of Polaris Touring FST 600's) but good enough for our family (my wife and I, our two teenagers, and the kids grandparents) After the 20-30 minute haul to the Edison Sno Park (about 10 miles away but the road was a solid sheet of ice after all the recent snow, so we could only safely go about 30 mph) we had the sleds unloaded and hit the trail. We made a beeline for Elk Lake Lodge for lunch (crowded but GREAT) and then came back by an alternate route. Beautiful scenery and reasonably well groomed trails. There was a lot of traffic on some sections because of the holiday season, so on our way home there was a lot of "washboard" (whatever you call them in snowmobile terms) that was annoying to ride on, but we still had a blast. Bottom line, if you have your own truck and can haul a trailer with the snowmobiles, this is a great option. The experience feels more like borrowing sleds for the day from a friend (including the idiosyncrasies of missing review mirrors or minor stuff like broken speedometers), and Kevin come across as a helpful local more than a businessman (I mean that in a good way). He has a decent selection of helmets (both full face and motocross type) and can supply bibs/pants (remember to buy or bring your own balaclava and gloves if you have them!). When I needed pants, Kevin literally gave me the pants he was wearing.

We had seen Advanced Performance Rentals business on our way back to the village in Sunriver from Mount Bachelor Ski park a few times that week and decided to stop in to inquire about renting some snowmobiles. We were in luck, there were snowmobiles available for the next day and we were able to negotiate a great price them. Being novices, the owner Kevin made sure that we were given the appropriate snowmobiles for us. The next morning we arrived at 7am. We were very pleased to see our machines that we had reserved were loaded on the trailers, fueled up and ready to go. We were quickly fitted with the appropriate helmets, given easy to follow (did i mention, easy to follow) trail maps and were also given a crash course on the rules and safety regulations of snowmobiling. Kevin suggested on which sno-park to go to... taking in consideration that we were novices. ( I find that all of the locals know the good places to have fun) We hooked his trailer full of equipment to our Jeep and off we went for our adventure of the day. It all ran like clock work... he had us heading out to the park within 30minutes of arriving at his shop. Not that I was worried about the time... The rental time was for all day... so we really didn't feel rushed or feeling like the clock was ticking. We were on vacation and that is the last thing you want to worry about. We were just excited to get the our adventure on! Anyway.... i just wanted to say that our experience that day was awesome... the snow, the sun..... the new adventure.... We all agreed that we would do it again AND we will be sure to rent from Advanced Performance Rentals again. Thank you so much! We shall return!

Very knowledgeable, whimsical, lighthearted, and free spirited. The perfect person to lead an adventure into the Oregon wilderness. Our trip started with a short van ride from the Fred Meyer parking lot. She seemed like somebody who genuinely enjoys her job, likes to explore, and is just a genuine, good person all around. Going into the cave was surreal, almost like stepping into a different climate. It definitely felt like it was 45° all year round down there. Once we lost the natural lighting too it became very spooky, but everybody had headlamps so it was pretty easy to see where we were going. My wife and I saw a few baby brown bats hanging out on the walls while we were there. They were so tiny and cute! I'm glad they're able to survive down there. I really like that her tour guy gave us a choice between one of two directions into the cave. I have really bad knees, and thankfully, our tour guide, and our group was able to respect that. We had a very good lighthearted adventure down in the dark. My favorite part was when we all got to turn off our headlamps for a little bit, and stay silent, and just enjoy utter blackness. Deathly felt like a good way to de-stress a little. Shay was a fantastic tour guide and we are definitely going to be using this to our group again in the near future. Thanks for the memories!

He knew all of our names before we even left the parking lot. The trail was in good shape from recent rain so a beginner would have no trouble participating. Cons: The email confirmation and website mentioned the bike shortage and that riders had to be a minimum of 4 ft tall with a 24 inch inseam but didn't really explain how to measure that, etc. Sure, I know what an inseam in pants is, but turns out an inseam measurement for bike riding is different. Would have been nice to know without having to look it up the night before and then worry my kid wouldn't be tall enough. Lots of standing around. We were on the 10-4 tour and though we arrived at 9:45 no one directed us to have our kids take the bike test to see if they could go and nobody got fitted for bikes until everyone in the booking had arrived. Then, the large 10 am group was split into two smaller groups and if you were in the second group, you had to stand around for 20 minutes killing time to give the first group a head start. Why not just stagger the starts and have a 10 am and a 10:30? From a customer perspective this sort of sucked. This was billed as a Mountain bike ride with waterfalls and slides, but it was more like, walking/hiking to see 3 waterfalls and then a very mellow 3 mile single track ride to finish. It would have been nice to sort people by skill or interest (shorter vs longer rides) as we definitely had some gung ho dudes in our group and some newbies like me. Two of the waterfalls (at least) were accessible via McKay campground, which was a little disappointing. I thought we would be off the beaten path, checking out a little known spot, etc. Overall, our young kids, 8 and 10 enjoyed it and had fun. It was their first time mountain biking. I'd rate the ride and scenery 4 stars but the administration and organization only 2 stars (I'm a fan of efficiency and customer service) , hence my 3 star rating.
