I came at 9:35 am on Saturday (they open at 9:30 am) and there were 4 women already sitting and doing their nails. Looks like you have to come before they open and camp outside. Speaking of outside, the nail salon is located in a small shopping center type area with not a lot of parking. Since I work long hours during the week, this is the best place for me since it's a 5 min drive. Also they want tips in cash which is kind of annoying as a person who doesn't carry cash. Went to this new nail place located on Deer park ave. It's a little shopping mall that was recently built. Lack of parking overall experience was not bad but not good either. Problem with some foot spas are when you tell them you want one service instead of them just taking your word for what you want they force you to get something a bit more expensive. If I say I want just a plain pedicure no need to try to force me to get something that cost over what I originally budget for. That is so annoying. So decided to go for the pedicure which included the 10 minute foot massage. Calus remover and conditioning of feet Never got the foot massage. I grew up on LI and every time I'm home I come with my Mom for a pedi. Even though I'm not around often, the girls always remember that I get a french pedi. Their prices are fair and they do a great job! The place really picked up once they changed management last year. I know a lot of reviewers here say they upsell and push you to get more and THEY DO! However, just bc they try to sell you a $55 Lavender Pedi, doesn't mean you have to do it dummy! A Regular French Pedi with callous removal is around $35 which is about as cheap as you can get for a good legit pedi! However, I rarely get a manicure at Sun's bc I only get a Regular Polish mani and they treat it like a polish change. No cuticle care, barely file, etc. However, my mom and sister always get their nails done at Sun's biweekly (gels and acrylic) and their nails last for weeks. ALSO! ALWAYS GET THE FREE MESSAGE FROM MARIA WHEN YOU ARE DRYING YOUR NAILS! SHE IS THE BEST AND WILL MAKE YOUR SHOULDERS AND BACK FEEL LIKE HEAVEN! I had an appointment set a day prior for 10:30am, came on time but ended up waiting a whole hour to even get started. I never expect to get started at the dot at nail salons in general, waiting a few minutes is reasonable, but to have to wait around for a whole hour, seems like a little too much. I can't say too many good things about the service, the pedicure seemed like it was just a 1,2,3 get it done process, barely a massage done. I don't know about anyone else, but when I go to a nail salon, spend MONEY on my nails (and their all expensive, the ones who post cheap prices tack on $5 for uv gel clear coat, cut down, etc.- beauty ain't cheap!) and I hate the way they come out .... Nothing infuriates me more, or makes me feel like I wasted my money. So after trying countless nail salons in the Massapequa area and being utterly dissatisfied, I decided to take a trip back to Suns Nails, the salon I used to go to when I lived in Babylon. I saw and still continue to see Krystal- she is simply amazing, perfection every single time! She is FAST, which is so important to me because I'm ALWAYS pinched for time. She shapes my nails EXACTLY the way I like them... I'm always able to make an appointment last minute - every once in a while a nail salon will get behind, people walk in, people arrive late, appointments run behind. If you ask me, that's normal life!! These girls are trying to make a living here. I'm sooo OCD about my nails- trust me, If I'm driving all the way to Deer Park - there's a reason! I really love this salon, it's right up the road from my house so it's more than convenient. They always take me same day no matter what, and are flexible with appointments. I have never not loved the way my nails turned out - they could last up to 3-4 weeks if I really wanted them to. i've had multiple ladies do my nails and I am satisfied every time. They always make sure you are satisfied with the shape and color and will change it if I'm not. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because sometimes you really do have to wait, even if you have an appointment. Personally, I have never found a nail salon who took you in right away and actually started working on you if the seats are filled. The nail salon is not a place you go and expect to only be there an hour, even if you're just getting a manicure pedicure. I have a regular customer who always makes appointments, but I wait more than an hour each time before I even am able to get my nails soaked. Customers that come in after me are usually helped first. I had to ask the technician to actually clean my toes because she didn't even touch the nail tools but was about to apply the polish! I've been here a couple of times. I was satisfied with my acrylic set in the past and also the gel powder. They have a good amount of colors to choose from and the gel powder lasted me 2+ weeks last time. Service is okay. The lady who does the free massages is very sweet and friendly. My nail tech today was okay but was quite slow. The pedicures painting was sloppy and not a lot of coating. They're good with powder but not pedicures. A powder set is $35. They try to sell you up from nail strengtheners to the higher end manis and pedis...being a regular, it gets a bit uncomfortable saying no to the many things they'll try to sell you...over and over again. Went for the first time today! I brought along my 4yr old daughter after just being turned away at another salon that clearly didn't want to waste time on her. I decided to try Sun Nail instead of going home. These woman were amazing with my daughter! They treated her like a little princess and even added a cute little design on her nails. I got UV gel for myself and it looks great. The complimentary massage was so good I ended up adding an extra 10mins! We had a lovely experience. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I've been trying nail salons in my area for quite some time now in search of a weekly go to. I have been to Suns Nails 3 times and unfortunately I probably won't be back due to this last visit.
