My last visit was on July 2, and I spent $130 on a full French tip acrylic set with Yuki, plus a tip. By the morning of July 4, at least five nails had popped off--they didn't break; they completely detached. When I called the salon, there was little to no sympathy or effort to make it right. Instead, I was left walking around on a holiday looking like a T. rex with missing nails. I've been a customer before, but unfortunately, I feel the quality has declined tremendously. I came in for a basic pedicure and was helped by Marta. She did a great job -- very neat and gentle with her work. I've been a regular at Minerva Nail and Spa for the past three years, and overall, I find their hygiene practices to be above satisfactory. They sanitize and disinfect their nail tools using an autoclave, which is located beside the wall mirror in the pedicure room. After sterilization, the tools are stored in sealed pouches. Technicians also open fresh pouches containing new emery boards and nail buffers for each client. I've included photos of several of these pouches for reference. As with most salons, nail polishes and cuticle oils are shared among clients, which can increase the risk of fungal infections or other issues. Because of that, I bring my own polish and cuticle oil. I once got a nail fungus at another salon -- it took a year to clear up with prescription treatment, so now I'm extra cautious. I've also had manicures here and noticed that pumice stones sometimes show visible wear, which suggests they may be reused among clients. That's something I hope the salon addresses. Overall, I appreciate Minerva Nail and Spa's attention to cleanliness, and I'll continue to come here for reliable, well-done services. read more

After spending almost $300 just waxing gel Pedi, 10 minutes back massage and nails filling with 3 different people the owner had the nerve to openly asked about "BETTER TIP" For his staff after I left tips he said staff would be mad at him later on and that next time I should tip better! I said tips aren't an obligation and also how much money he wanted me to spend at his business, never again don't ask for no tips after I gave tips and spent a lot of money in your business what employees do or not do shouldn't be discussed with customers that has nothing to do with me, never going again maybe he should be paying them better Money. Horrible attitudes, confrontational staff, went to inquire about services at their salon and also visit a store next to it but they wouldn't let us park there because we were not exclusively going to their nail salon. Because we were going to their nail salon and the store next to it they didn't let us park in their lot. Will never be back here, what a way to have a first impression. read more

Incredibly Slow with a messy outcome. It is understood that salons may run late and when I arrived for my scheduled appt, I was left waiting for 15 mins before anyone started on prepping my nails to soak. However, others came in and were assisted while I sat and waited. I could've been soaking my polish off while another got a massage and another walk-in after me got started on a pedicure. So ok, but then my powder dip nail change took an hour and 35 mins which if you know, shouldn't take more than 45-60mins. No repairs needed. And after such a long time, it was messy work. I've been unhappy at Minerva before (painful pedicure, cut cuticles) but keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Today was my last visit. read more

I had a great first experience here! The young lady, Angel, who was able to upsell me on a much needed massage, made sure that EVERY DOLLAR I spent was worth it. My leg massage was top-notch. My back massage was EVERYTHING I needed it to be, and without me saying anything, she knew where I needed the most attention. I'm ready to go to sleep. I went to get my nails done for my engagement photos. Before I could even get out of my car an employee came up to my car window and started telling me I couldn't park in the parking lot. I'm only giving 3 starts because they normally do a really good job but I haven't been agreeing with their prices lately, as they charge you for every little thing. The one picture is what I asked for VS picture in my car is what I left with. I get it I should've said something before I left but I'm not the kind of person to bother anyone. I called up the next day and asked if I could change the color because I hated it so much and he told me it would be AN EXTRA $25 just to change the color. Mind you, I paid $80 for the set of nails... I've been going here for so long now but the prices are just ridiculous. Made an appointment at this salon at 1:00 for a UV gel fill in. Was seated at 1:15 and not actually seen until 2:00. The person doing my nails was in charge of taking payment and answering the phones so the entire experience took over 2 hours for a service that typically can take 45min-1hr. I asked for a gel fill in... they used acrylic. I showed a picture of a painted design, they used a stamper, which they smudged (but at this point I was there for 2 hours and ready to leave so I did not ask them to fix). My nails also chipped two days later. There was also someone walking around selling fake designer bags. Overall, terrible salon experience and I won't be returning. There are plenty of salons on Deer Park Ave with better service. read more

Normally I'm not the person to get on yelp and write a bad review but this made me upset. I just moved in the area a few months ago & have been using this place as my nail spot. I loved it for awhile but recently I've been noticing them being sneaky with pricing. I walked in with UV Gel extensions and asked if they'd take it off for me (just because I don't trust myself doing it). There was no bad reason for me taking them off I just am too busy to keep up with the fill ins. They soaked my nails four times with nail polish remover, they did this for so long that my fingers got pruney. She drilled my nail down WAY too hard to the point where I had to pull my hand away at one point. She then filed my nails and cut them once the acrylics were "off" (they just drilled it down you can still see them). She then informed me that being that she filed and cut them I'd have to pay an extra 5. (Was not aware of this extra until she finished). I wasn't charged last time I came in for this. I wasn't gonna go without paying I bought $20 for tip because I knew I'd be wasting time which I already felt bad about. I was sent out with my nails like this and charged 20 dollars and still have to give a tip (which I ended up having to put on card). No lotion on my hands no cuticle oil, nothing. I typically like my nails very long, so I just had to deal with a shorter length because she already cut it before she finished asking. When you do chrome nails you typically start with polish to get the shape first and then you go in with the blunt eyeshadow tool to rub in the chrome pigment. She did the French shape with the blunt eyeshadow tool and she's complaining that it was difficult the whole time. Then a regular of theirs comes in and ask for a very basic pink nail polish color and she starts on her nails when none of my gems, or anything had been added. when I mentioned For a fourth time that I want it gems on my now she quickly got up out of her seat from the other woman said she didnt know I wanted gems & did my gems in about three minutes for both hands. finished with me and continue to do her other client so overall just extremely sloppy job and not worth 96 Dollars. After a long work week I just went today to get a regular pedicure, gel manicure and back massage. The lady doing my nails "Marta" was very rude and she had an attitude since the beginning. I asked her very nicely if I could please see two nail polish since I wanted to see how they match with my skin color and she told me "what do you want to see if it's the same as the sample. Just pick one!" I just didn't pay attention to this comment and agreed with her. ( I picked one color) Then, while she was doing my manicure I asked her very nicely if she could please cut them more and with a VERY NASTY way she responded " do you want me to do my job twice I asked you if you want me to cut them. Now I have to do my job two times" since I was getting a back massage I decided that I wouldn't say nothing and acted like nothing happened so I can provided this review to other customers so they can be mindful to avoid having ANY kind of service with this lady (her name is Marta). Besides this I realized she didn't even cut my cuticles I didn't even complaint at this point I just wanted to leave. Marta if you get to read this be mindful that you are giving a service which is not cheap. For women getting our nails done it's like our special moment and it isn't really nice to have a technician with such a nasty attitude. I didn't even complaint because I didn't want the owners to think that I was looking for a discount. Just decided to leave this review so next customer do not get any service with her!!! I've been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. The salon is very clean and I find it to be a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is always very attentive and pleasant. I typically get French tips and one of their specialty pedicures. A nice little perk is the complimentary massage you receive while having your nails done. I love this place... It's gorgeous inside! They walk around and give awesome massages during your manicure which is amazing... I usually walk right in with a quick call before hand but they always take me immediately.. The pedicures are SO good and worth the money.. Again, the massages that come along with the pedicure will put you to sleep.. I used to come here a lot when this place was paradise spa and it was always good so I'm not surprised that I like this place just as much... This salon changed owners and tried to lie about it. I showed up for a lash appointment and was told it was with the girl I always went to- but then it was someone else. It was the most horrible appointment I've ever experienced. Even the other customers were saying how it didn't even look like I had anything done. It was almost 2.5 hours long. And when I told them I wasn't happy the new owner said I would "get used to them". So so so bad!! Do not go to this salon!!! read more

I'm starting this by saying I have never written a review or even felt the need to write a review until today: I broke a nail and went to the salon just to get a new tip put on. Jason "helped" me by taking me and arguing with me that they do not have the same nail color- I told him it was fine I don't need exact but I just need a new tip since this nail was now half the length of my other nails. He proceeded to take 45 minutes to not remove the original gel color and did the sloppiest job- you could see the old color and the broken nail and the tip underneath and the nail was not even the same shape or length as the other nails. I felt bat but it was truly the worst thing I've ever gotten done and when I asked him to fix it he argued with me that I don't know nails- I know that these look terrible and need anyone else to fix it. He was very rude for someone who did such a terrible job. Someone else ended up helping me but this was the WORST nail expeience ever. All the other ladies are great. Worst nail place ever. I used to be a regular there and then the last few times they have been so rude. Rushed to do my nails and then at the end had four people surrounding me to try to finish. One on each nail and had one girl putting on my shoes. I told them I was uncomfortable due to Corona and they ignore what I had said. They didn't take my temperature when I got there and were too on top of me. My nails have spots all around and one was two different colors yet they tried to tell me it looked good. We've gone here a handful of time, and this place is pretty decent. $25 for a basic mani-pedi. My daughter's mani-pedi was $22 which is a bit steep for a kid level treatment. They are always nice and attentive. We went on Friday morning at 10am and they weren't busy yet so we didn't feel rushed like others have pointed out. They have at least 8 pedicure massage chairs (I didn't count so I'm going off my memory) and many more manicure tables. You also get a back massage with your mani-pedi which is a nice touch. read more

Went to Minerva with a friend and my cousin and none of us left happy. We have previously gone to the in the past and had the same problems. We decided to give them another chance because I was given a gift certificate to here. I got a gel powder manicure and my nails came out looking super clumpy and thick and each one of my nails is filed to a different shape. At the end of the manicure, there was polish left around my nails on my fingers and I did not receive the usual lotion massage hand massage or a hot moist towel on my hands. My cousin got a gel manicure and picked a navy blue color. When the nail stylist started doing her nails she was applying black polish. My cousin corrected her and told her the polish number she requested again, the woman proceeded again with a different color than requested. The woman doing her nails had excessively long nails and ended up scratching my cousin's hand by mistake. And the end of her manicure she only received the hot moist towel on one of her hands. My friend had the same person as me do her nails and also got a gel powder manicure. While taking off her old powder, she burnt her fingers with the heating device. At the end of her manicure she was also left with residual polish on her fingers surrounding the nails and her old polish color was still visible. The only positive thing about this nail salon are the brief back massages they give you while you get your nails done. The masseuses are fantastic. Unfortunately, my friend did not receive her massage. To top it off, they were so slow. You would think with the time they put into the nails they would've actually came out well. It took me so long to find a good nail place after I moved to Dix Hills and I'm so glad I found Minerva! It's wonderful! Jane does an outstanding job on my nails--no one can do permanent French the way she does. And the entire staff at Minerva is so nice and accommodating. I was looking for a very clean nail salon that sterilizes and uses disposable nail files and buffers. So I called this place, and they said they use disposable nail files. I walk in and was greeted by the man in the front desk. He was very nice. Picked a color, waited about 5 minutes and then was seated next to someone who was finishing up their nails. A woman comes up, gives me an amazing massage. Then the woman whose nails were almost done, finished and went to dry. I was then asked to move over to that seat which I did. Throughout the manicure, I realized NOTHING was cleaned or sterilized. I should have left then but I stupidly felt bad and stayed. The nails were okay. The pedicure was done by someone else and no wrap to cover the pedicure sink. I saw them "rinse" one instrument with just water and then use it someone else. The pedicure came out okay.But all in all I will never come back here again. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the massage was really really good. I like this place because they provide decent service in a short period of time. They have lots of workers and pedicure chairs to get you in and out. Also, whilst you're getting your manicure, you usually get a few back massage. I think the prices is good as well, but I'm get the basis package. read more

Such a nice spot, there is a beautiful indoor decor and a calming vibe. Only catch is it would have been better if I had a little space to find my own nail polish or set my massage chair without it being taped to my chair over asking my manicurist. The lady however was a perfectionist that took so long my nails were still wet. There are a few bubbles that were totally my fault but I would have liked it better if I was comfortable enough to as her to fix it... Over all not really worth the price, I wish there was a reasonable deal for a regular mani pedi because then I would probably go back.. I have been coming to this nail salon for quite sometime now and have never experienced what I have experienced today. I had an appointment at 11:30 for a manicure and pedicure. I waited in the chair for 20 mins until someone was able to do my pedicure. Fine. After my pedicure was finished, I asked the women if she would be doing my manicure and she said no. I waited 45 minutes for someone to do my manicure. People without appointments were being seen before me. I asked the owners if someone would be doing my nails anytime soon and they said yes 10 more minutes. As I was about to walk out the door because I had enough, the owner came over to me and started doing my manicure. He ran around the salon looking for the color white, and when I told him I would do any color because I couldn't wait any longer he ignored me. He did not cut my cuticles and every nail is a different shape and size. He moved the UV light and it hit my nail, causing it to smudge. I told him and he said don't worry about it. I told him I wanted it fixed and he did not. Toward the end of my manicure, he got up to do someone else's nails and told me to continue putting my nails under the UV light until it was dry. How am I supposed to know if my nails are dry? I asked another employee to cut my cuticles and put oil on my nails because my nails looked awful. Thankfully, she was able to spare sometime to assist me. Very unprofessional and rude customer service. I will not be going back and taking my money elsewhere. read more
