When I read the reviews saying this place was right out of a Coen brothers movie, deciding to stay here was a no brainer for me. I also loved the great neon sign in the parking lot and knew then we'd enjoy our stay. The room was fantastic, vintage, quirky and just kitschy enough. The coffee was good (just Folgers French Roast, but the best Folgers I've ever had). Management was awesome, and don't miss out on the homemade muffins. If you're in Kanab and need a place to stay for the night, check out the Sun & Sand. Especially if you're a Coen Brothers fan. ;)

Great. Best value in town. The folks who run the place are nice as can be. The towels and linens were spotless, and I slept like a baby. A baby, I tell you. The complimentary coffee, donuts, fruit, juice, and hot or cold cereal every morning was a welcome surprise. But my favorite part was the ambience. I found myself sitting outside my room at night just to drink in the neon and flashing lights against the desert backdrop. Their website says to call for the best rate, and the price they gave me was even lower than listed. It pays to call! They also accept pets! I came to Kanab so I could volunteer at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and they were happy to let me bring my overnight canine guest. If you're as big a fan of 20th Century Americana and animals as I am, you're in for a treat.

Wayne and his wife are friendly and helpful and this is a great budget motel. I've stayed here twice while I volunteered at Best Friends and their weekly rates were great and cost me less than half of other options. They allow pets so you can bring Best Friends cats or dogs for sleepovers which is an issue at a lot of other hotels/motels.

This place is great! It might seem a little sketchy on the outside... but the people are really nice, the rooms are clean, and the beds are actually super comfortable. It costs us $45 for two of us to stay. You should stay here if you're in town!

This review is based on my two-night stay from 10/17/25 - 10/19/25…read more I had heard great things about this place so was really looking forward to checking it out. I was also hoping to "rent" a pet from the Animal Sanctuary for the duration of our visit, but alas, checked in too late for that. I'd advise anyone who wants to "rent" a pet to call in advance to understand the process and time cut-off. I loved the room. It was super cute and well-appointed for guests with pets. There were two bowls waiting near the front door, and two adorable sleeping areas - one in a cut-out in the wall, and another a pull-out trundle-style bed. The mercantile/ store was stocked with cute apparel for pet-lovers as well as items for pets. Breakfast was also served in the store in the morning - with lots of interesting and yummy options - like vegan egg bites and chia seed pudding. 10/10 recommend this place!!

The Best Place For Travelers With Or Without Pets…read more.... For our final 5 nights across the Southwest US, we stayed at the Best Friends Roadhouse. The BF Animal Sanctuary was on our schedule (at least 2 of the 4 days) and both reviews and their website looked great. Pros: - Location: Convenient, especially is you're visiting the Sanctuary. On the main road in the north part of Kanab. - Exterior: A newish looking hotel with nice views to the north and west. - Room: Excellent. Our king suite was spacious. One VERY large room included a big bedroom, a good sized kitchen and a spacious bathroom/shower/vanity. It also had plenty of space for storage and large closets. All done with contemporary Scandinavian furniture which minimizes clutter and convenient controls for lighting, ventilation and automatic shades. - Employees: Helpful. People at the reception desk and in the breakfast area/"Mercantile Shop" were all very friendly. - Breakfast: Vegan and very good. Included with the room. While it wasn't a buffet, you could order as much as you'd like. Much of it was homemade and I especially liked the "Overnight Oats". Unusual Pros: - Cats and dogs are encouraged to stay with accommodations in the room and across the property - "Barn Door" to create privacy between the bedroom and bathroom - Free laundry - Free iPad to use while in the room - Nicely equipped kitchen - Plentiful towels - Choice of full daily housekeeping, partial or none - Attractive high desert landscaping - If you'd like merchandise from Best Friends, the Mercantile Shop had everything Cons: - Bath towels for our first day were luxurious. The next 4 days were like a Holiday Inn. - Toilet paper was 1...maybe 2 ply and quite scratchy - Tissues were a bit rough - Parking was tight, especially on weekends and after 7 PM There are many places to stay in Kanab since it's a busy stop for Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, but the Roadhouse would be our only choice.

It is located near EV charging which is great! The room was clean, furnished just right and quiet even while overlooking the parking lot. Microwave included was good. My only concern was the barn door to the restroom did not fully close! It would close but then creep open! Included breakfast was good, offering a good selection of waffles, cereals, eggs, meats, fruit, and yogurt. Several fruit juices were also available. All in all, this location was on par with other Hilton properties. The constancy was there as expected and appreciated.

Several famous movie stars stayed here back in the Westerns heydays. It has a fun retro vibe with a beautiful main building that houses the breakfast area as well as lovely sitting areas. It also has a lovely, well-maintained outdoor pool but I didn't end up taking advantage of it due to rain both evenings were we there. We stayed in the "Joey Bishop" cottage, which is actually connected to another suite next door. They gave us a free upgrade to a king suite because they accidentally canceled our reservation a few days before we were scheduled to arrive (still not sure what happened there). It definitely felt like a step back in time with historic design including a sitting porch outside and a roomy living room/bedroom as well as separate bathroom. It had a large "closet" area in the bathroom that was undoubtedly historic. There was also a fun window in the bathroom that hinged on the bottom but I don't think it opens anymore after many coats of paint. Also the living room floor sloped considerably but at least it had a smooth flooring over its entirety. Outlets were quite loose and of course did not have the modern cell phone connectors so good thing we brought our own converters from home. The included breakfast was delicious especially the sausage and the breakfast casserole. Very friendly and helpful waitstaff. Had an interesting barn in the back 40; my guess is for weddings and the like. Definitely fun to stay at, but be very, very careful walking around the property if you are elderly like us because we both tripped and almost face-planted a couple of times because of numerous up and down steps (some without railings) inside and out.

It's tucked against those incredible red rock views and endless Utah skies, right on the main road through Kanab. Granted, that's not saying much because Kanab basically has two main streets, but the location is perfect for getting anywhere in town while still feeling peaceful. The best way I can describe it is that it has Airbnb personality without the Airbnb hassle. The room felt modern, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated instead of looking like it was furnished by the Hotel Beige Committee. The bed was genuinely comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, and the rain shower head made me briefly consider whether I should just live there now. Everything about the place was easy. Keyless entry, simple check-in, easy parking, a nice little pool out front, and lots of those small touches that make you feel like someone actually cared about the guest experience instead of just checking boxes. I booked online, although you'll also notice a QR code posted at the property if you're already in town. Either way it's as painless as booking gets. It's rare that I say a hotel actually made my trip better, but this one absolutely did. I'd stay here again without a second thought. Five stars. I'd give it a 10 out of 10, but Yelp insists on limiting my enthusiasm.

The coziness of the bed and bedding, along with her thoughtful care of her guests, does not go unnoticed. And, of course, one cannot compliment her breakfasts enough.
