For a retro inspired hotel stay in Kanab, Utah, Quail Park Lodge is the place to stay. Just be sure to ask to stay in room #4, as I had no issues with my room. My other friends, complained about the shower water pressure and their décor wasn't as cute as my room. The exterior of the hotel is reminiscent of B-movie horror flick, and you may find it aesthetically pleasing ...for me, I'd say it's entertaining, as I'm feeling more optimistic, as I write this review. I found it a tad annoying, that checking into the hotel was located at another hotel down the street: Canyons Boutique Hotel (190 N 300 W, phone (435) 644-8660). Also, the free breakfast (hot or cold) included in the hotel stay, is also obtained at this address. Service kept my room nice, tidy with clean towels, while I was out of the room. Front desk staff at Canyons Boutique was nice, informative. Bicycles available for no extra charge, if you'd like. Fridge and microwave in the room. Ice machine is located near the bikes. Gas fire pit was nice to use at night. I didn't go into the pool, looked clean from afar. Suggestions: more electrical outlets needed, or perhaps lamps that have outlets would be appreciated. Hotel is dog friendly. Stay safe and healthy (mind, body and soul) out there :)

We stayed at the quail park lodge for one night and the property is super cute. It's down on the end of town, but walking distance to every restaurant in kanab. The motel is old/retro and they offer bikes that you can ride, which I thought was cute! The price is right for the stay and the front hotel staff was super nice! The rooms could maybe be updated a little bit but overall cute stay!

We stayed here for three nights and chose this hotel primarily due to great reviews. The only 'Retro' qualities to this hotel that I observed were the bikes outside the office for guests and the lobby. The room was 'comfortable', but I would just say average in comparison to other hotels. The A/C Unit is quite loud. The 'Free Breakfast ' is a bagged breakfast. The pool was closed ( probably seasonal, as it is April), but weather WAS warm enough by now. On the positive side, all of the employees were friendly. The hotel appeared clean, and our room was clean. Overall, I think this property is overpriced. My biggest gripe is the $10.00 'Resort Fee'. Resort fees always bother me but there are some places that you just have to accept this practice ( Las Vegas, Palm Springs). I don't know why this motel would charge a 'Resort Fee'. I did a price comparison with the only other hotel we have stayed at in Kanab ( Hampton Inn), and depending on the date, Hampton is sometimes less expensive. If you are looking for a hotel in Kanab, and this hotel is less expensive, I would say it's a good value.

    Quail-shaped pool!

Quail Park lodge was a great find for our stay in Kanab. The hotel is owner-operated, along with the Canyon Lodge up the street. Because of Covid, all staffing (including check-in and food) is out of Canyon Lodge (also a great looking place to stay). For our family of 5, the one bedroom suite worked great. The beds and pillows could be more comfortable, but everything else was fantastic: We loved the quail-shaped pool, fire pit area, retro vibes, and complimentary bicycles. We all enjoyed the food, the friendly service, and the central location, too. The owner even worked with us to cancel our last night so that we could alter our trip last-minute.

This was my 3rd or 4th time staying here. The location is ideal for visiting Bryce Canyon, Zion, North Rim of Grand Canyon and even Lake Powell if you don't mind a little drive (the drive is gorgeous). A nice, clean, comfortable lodge in a great location. A very delicious, generous sized hot breakfast was included at their other hotel only a short walk away. A great value.

This place is awesome! Fun atmosphere. VERY clean. Highly recommend! I think it's family owned and it's clear they take a lot pride in making this place comfortable and more than just your average hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Adding to this nostalgic atmosphere is Kathy, the host, who provides meaning and memories for everything in the home. While stepping back in time is enjoyable, and discovering something new in each room is entertaining, the experience of staying at the inn is very much modern and comfortable. If you are ever in Kanab, a stay at the Inn is a must. Kathy's attention to her guests enhances the pleasure of staying at the inn. Her attention to detail is boundless. The coziness of the bed and bedding, along with her thoughtful care of her guests, does not go unnoticed. And, of course, one cannot compliment her breakfasts enough. Delicious fruit, beautifully displayed, fresh juice of your choice, and mouthwatering entrées are all part of the experience. If you don't already have plans, Kathy will help you with her ideas, resourcefulness, maps, and brochures. Her husband, Tory, available when he can be, is also a gracious host and tends the bountiful garden that supplies much of Kathy's cooking. The two are so much fun to get to know and share conversations with, and it's clear that they are just as delighted by their guests, whether they've come from across the globe or just a state away. I didn't expect to make such lasting memories, but I can confidently say that you cannot go wrong choosing the Purple Sage Inn.

As previously mentioned, this hotel/lodge is under new management and has been renovated /updated. Not all the rooms have been redone. The golden age of small bathrooms with no counter space has long since passed. Since we travel to SLC quite frequently, one night is perfect for the Parry Lodge.

When my friends told me they booked this place and I read the reviews after-the-fact, I was so sure it was going to be old, dank, musty and gross. We arrived at night and I was still skeptical of this place. Front desk told us to park on the side of the building on the dirt area. Driving around out back, there was this creepy abandoned barn that gave me horror movie vibes. Our room was in the newer 2-story building. Walking inside though, there were lights everywhere and pictures of celebrities who have stayed there. I saw a guy cleaning one of the rooms and the hallway smelled of Lysol or some cleaner. Ok, good sign I thought. Our room was pretty big with 2 queen beds and a vanity with a sink just outside the bathroom, so two sinks total (convenient!). The furniture was like what you'd find in a 90's home. It felt homey instead of hotel-like which I kinda liked. TV, fridge, microwave.. check. But no coffee maker. You can actually request hot water from the front desk and they'll give you a pitcher. Now the surprises, which made this stay so spectacular. The pillows were SO fluffy. The bed was lined with a thicker, textured design sheet compared to your average hotel paper-thin sheet, and the mattress was soft and comfy. I had way better sleep here than I did at the Hilton the night before. The best part? The bathroom has a heater under the sink that you can control the temperature with a dial on the wall, so it was nice and toasty all the time. It was so awesome! I also noticed the baseboards in the room, the bathtub and caulking in the bathroom were spotless. That's how you know a place is clean. They offer a small breakfast in the dining room for a small $, but we opted out so we can try other restaurants across the street. The coffee and tea are always free. I definitely judged Parry Lodge before arriving here, but boy was I wrong! It is a quaint little place with a nostalgic historic feel, and was not creepy at all. I think this was the hotspot back in the day for western films. A lot of hikers stay here and we saw many early in the morning. I'd stay at Parry Lodge again if we make our way out here in the future.

We drove 4 hours from Las Vegas and booked through Super.com. I'm a Choice Hotels member and was hesitant about Choice properties to begin with -- I usually stick to IHG, Hilton or Marriott -- but a great experience at the Comfort Suites Moab a year ago gave me confidence. The 4.5 stars on Yelp sealed the deal. Big mistake. The phone call before arrival -- called to notify them of a late arrival and the front desk lady answered with a flat "Hello," never pulled up my reservation, couldn't add my Choice Rewards number since I booked third party which is fine, but when I was done with my questions she said "bye" and hung up cold. I work in hospitality. That's not okay. Check in -- the overnight guy in a fedora was genuinely great. Friendly, fast, no complaints. Wish the rest of the staff had his energy at check in. The room -- rock hard queen beds, square couch-style pillows with zero support swimming inside oversized pillowcases, and a pull out sofa mattress with serious visible wear. All four of us on the queen beds woke up with back and neck aches and had to make a grocery run for pain meds before we could function. Breakfast -- both mornings were identical. Cold eggs, rubbery sausage patties, broken juice machine on day two. The make your own waffle station was the only thing worth touching. This is what your $5/night resort fee gets you. The afternoon front desk lady -- sat behind the desk on her personal phone both times we walked through without a single acknowledgment. Asked to switch rooms due to the beds -- flat "No," sold out, zero apology. Later came back from a bike ride with a potentially broken arm and asked where the nearest hospital was -- she pointed without looking up and went back to her phone. My friends had to connect to the hotel WiFi just to pull up directions since T-Mobile is spotty in Kanab. Ended up with a broken forearm and wrist. Now in a cast and sling. I don't expect a front desk employee to be a first responder but basic human decency isn't too much to ask. The A/C -- stopped working at 2am. Called the front desk and the overnight guy answered in silence with his phone playing in the background. After I said hello he responded with attitude. Told him the A/C was out in room 105 and he literally asked me "what should I do?" Requested a room switch, he said sold out and hung up. Five guys trying to sleep in a heatwave with no air conditioning. Pool area -- advertised as open year round and heated. Pool was covered. Spa was open but the gate to the entire area had no lock -- anyone could walk right in. Real safety concern for families with kids. At $146.24 for two nights the price seemed reasonable on paper. In reality this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The area is 5 stars -- this property is not. Stay elsewhere.
