my wife and I have had problems with this shop on a couple occasions. They're friendly enough, and the shop patrons are 95% retirees from SCW/SCG. Typically the service is slow and overpriced, but they were recommend to us, so we have them a shot. The first time they did a simple oil change for us but failed to put the car together correctly and there was a shimmy from the engine after we picked it up. We took it back, and had the tech work on it the next day. Basically the car wasn't reassembled correctly...I'm still trying to figure out why it was disassembled to this level for routine maintenance. They didn't give us an answer what happened other than they found the problem and fixed it. Our last & final experience was that they said the transfer case on my wife's SUV was leaking fluid. The seals would be roughly $800-1000 to fix, but George would call me with a hard estimate on Monday. He forgot to call Monday (total flake)...so I called Tuesday. George said "we just did one of these last week....It's real expensive partner, it'll cost you $3500." Of course we got a second opinion from Max Auto in Surprise. They quoted total cost to repair was $795. Max Auto said an entire transfer case would $3500 after I spilled the beans on what sun devil wanted to charge. If you get a quote for a repair from this business that seems high always get a second quote from another organization that will perform the same repair. I have had bad experiences with Sun Devil. One was brake pads for a Dodge 1500. The brake pads they used were either defective or cheap imitation of good brake pads. After they were installed, I left for a trip to Louisiana. I experienced bad braking and brake noise during the trip and stopped at another repair facility. The mechanic took it for a drive and said that the brake pads were bad. I will say that they did replace the pads for no charge. But why didn't they do a test drive to check their work?? Also they do their darned best to unload unnecessary service on older patrons. Great place to take car. Had oil change done here and it was completed quickly and for a really low cost. Manger is hilarious and fun to watch interact with employees and customers. I would recommend car repair and maintenance here and will be bringing my cars here again in the future. read more

I brought my car in in February 2021 for air conditioner repair (was not blowing cold air) and was told that the AC compressor/clutch was bad and it would be $1,000.00 to fix it with a new compressor. It came with a 24 month warranty. 8 months later the air conditioning started acting up so I brought it back to them to look at. They said it was the AC compressor/clutch unit that was shot and I needed a new one. I pulled out the receipt I had of their previous repair and the warranty and immediately started the back pedal game like, "Oh, you needed to get a complete kit. Or, there might be metal shavings in the unit". They said they would replace the AC compressor but would not guarantee it because I didn't spend another $1,000.00 on other parts of the "complete system". Absolutely not standing by your own work and not being understanding and courteous to the customer and trying their hardest to up-sale an additional $1,000.00 is unconscionable. Just make it right ! Just fix it, it still has well over a year left on the Warranty. I was questioning an employee and the manager kept saying, "Don't answer that the the employee" when I asked him certain questions. Very, very shady and very obvious. I will be taking this car over to the Ford dealership for a review of what was told to me and what was done to the car. Luckily I recorded everything that was told to me from the beginning. Do not trust these guys and gals with your hard earned money. Please go elsewhere, don't even stop to ask questions, there are plenty other auto repair shops that have way better reviews. I should of looked at the reviews first, but I didn't...my fault. The reviews are horrible for the most part except the ones that their friends and families put up saying they are great. Stay away ! Don't walk...but, run away ! read more

I went to one of those Mexican chop shops for an alignment and it totally messed my car up literally swerving out of control so I had to find a place to look at it and see what was wrong with it now every place I went to wanted 50 to 100$ just to look at it me being broke couldn't afford even a real alignment found sun devil and they did an inspection for free even offered me a ride home if they were to fix my car that day I couldn't do it that day but came back a couple months later and they fixed everything even put me in a rental while they fixed it they are fast friendly and amazing I will be coming back for any car maintenence and I've already told people and family how great my experience here was thanks guys read more

These people are the worst. I think they take advantage of the elderly in Sun City who don't for the most part have a clue. I went in there and was told I needed a new transmission to the tune of $2500 - my car wasn't going into 4th gear After I had the work done my car still wasn't going into 4th gear and I was told oh, it's not the transmission now it's the computer/sensor. Another $1300. I checked with two other places and they said right, it is the computer/sensor thing but NO WAY DID I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. i WAS RIPPED OFF FOR $2500. I contacted them and they refused to do anything about it. Never again!!! And twice they told my mom she had a leaky water pump and she knew that wasn't it and it wasn't - total ripoffs!!! read more

I have been doing business with Sun Devil Auto for over 14 yrs. I took my vehicle to the auto repair place that was at that location, prior to Sun Devil Auto I decided to stay with Sun Devil Auto because the mechanics , from the prior repair shop stayed. I am glad that I stayed with Sun Devil Auto. Jeff and the crew are professional and courteous people. When I have taken my vehicle in for oil changes and lubes, the mechanics do an inspection on the vehicle. If they find any problems, Jeff is notified and he lets me know of the problems and even shows me the problem. It is always up to me what and if repairs are made. At one point I had to have a major trans repair and Jeff, rented me a vehicle to use for three days, free of charge. Work on vehicle is always guaranteed and they back it. What a great place!! I usually don't get too excited over an auto mechanic repair shop but I gotta tell ya these guys are great! I am one of the most cautious and leery people you would ever meet but I knew from the time I made the call to Sun Devil that they were trustworthy. From George to Matt to Ron to the mechanic crew...they are all great! After they repaired the entire rear brake system of my 4x4 truck I was convinced. From the phone call to completion they were very thorough explaining every detail of the repair. The price was very fair and the work was done in a timely manner. I even had to use the shuttle service they provide. And being a gal I didn't get the usual 'you are just a dumb girl treatment' that I usually receive at an auto repair shop. I was treated with respect and dignity which I really appreciated. I really can't say enough good things about the staff and the business as a whole in the space they provide for these ratings, but trust me when I say you will not be sorry you took your vehicle there for repair.
