After 3 more touch up visits, It is still not fixed. At the last visit they sent it out to a more specialized place for a week and even paid for a rental during the time. I ended up still in the same place. Every time they assured me everything is fixed and I will have no more problem with the coolant cycle. It leaked again after my 10 mile commute to work. They charged a lot of money and it is still not fixed and I have no money to bring it somewhere else. They burned through a full tank of gas as well and got it back to me on reserve. I can not say that they don't give it an effort but I expect to get it fixed after a first second try for the ridiculous amount they charged for just the coolant cycle. I told them on 2 occasions the brakes were getting hard to apply. All 3 times I picked up the truck after they had it for 8 hours the check engine light came on again quickly. All I have to say is this location consists of a bunch of hustlers!! They told me I needed brakes and rotors after an oil change. One guy told me I had 1-2 mil left on my brake pads. When I called back to confirm, they told my over the phone that I was touching the metal (never said in person) and they said I 100% needed rotors which would have cost 1200 total with pads, rotors and labors. SO glad I got a second opinion from brake masters who said I did NOT need rotors and I made it just in time. My husband was going to get his oil change here but we will definitely not be back. WARNING: Don't allow this shop to complete any repairs on your vehicle - they are just looking to take your money! I spent $1,000's of dollars here, got taken advantage of, and lied to. This is a long story I'll try to shorten up: I brought my vehicle in 6 months ago because it was vibrating a little at freeway speeds and more when I'm braking - they GUESSED it was my front brakes & rotors. After replacing those and a leaky axle part I still felt the same vibrating that prompted me to bring it in initially. They drove it two separate times and told me they didn't feel the vibrating and everything on the car looks great. Additionally, there was a squeaking in the front end they just told me "I'm not sure what it causing that and we couldn't find the issue but we think it might be the struts/mounts, the only way for us to know is by actually replacing them". I didn't replace them because they didn't even know for sure that's what the problem was Forward to months later, my two front tires that only had 30,000 miles on them are shredded and wearing incorrectly. I bring the car back to Sun Devil and tell them there is DEFINITELY still something wrong since my tires wore out in half their expected mileage. They proceed to tell me my front bushings need to be replaced and my rear brakes and rotors also needed to be replaced. After the bushings were replaced, the squeaking and vibrating in the front end that had been going on for 6 months was completely resolved - that was the issue the whole time but was not properly diagnosed so I proceeded to ruin tires because of the lack of properly educated mechanics. Had the bushings been diagnosed and replaced when the vehicle was first brought in it would have saved me a couple thousand dollars. I had a brake warranty so declined for Sun Devil to replace the brakes and rotors. When I brought it to the other shop, they informed me I had 7mm of brake pad on the rear brakes and my rotors looked perfect!!!! How infuriating to find out Sun Devil wanted to charge me over $400 for a service and parts I DIDN'T EVEN NEED!!! What kind of business tries to steal hard earned money from their customers? After calling the shop to complain, my significant other went to the shop to speak with the store manager who proceeded to tell us we would need to contact his boss regarding the situation. We were then given the WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS for his boss and had to call back to get the correct one. Once the email was sent to John Erickson, I received a voicemail stating he was on vacation and would get back to me upon his return Tuesday, May 9th. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM JOHN. My significant other and I have several friends and family members that use Sun Devil and it is very discouraging to find out we can no longer trust that this business cares about their customers - they simply care only about the paycheck. read more

0 stars. Go anywhere else! I brought my car in because my A/C wasn't blowing cold. Ben, the sales desk rep, was smug and carried an air of career criminal as I gave him my information. After the diagnosis, Ben (Winkler) called me saying there was only a leak, and he'd call back with a quote for the work. 40 minutes later, he calls back and quotes me $2250. I asked for it to be itemized and why the cost was so high since I just had a new compressor put in last summer. He now is saying I need a new compressor and a liquid line ordered from California. Once I came back in to speak with Ben and the technician (Alexander) to look over the quote breakdown, it was apparent they were trying to price gouge me. $850 for a part that costs ~$350, a fascinating 200% markup! I pointed this out and seeming to enjoy my distress, Ben and the tech go on to say he doesn't price the parts, and I swear to god, even says "also it's 3:00PM". Why does it being 3:00PM on a Tuesday mean I should pay more for parts/work that couldn't possibly be done by day end!!? Immediately after leaving, I drove down the street to the Scottsdale Sun Devil Auto location to get another quote. Listed off the part numbers from Ben's quote to the rep, and the price is down by $500! I did not use either Sun Devil Auto for my repairs and after going to another mechanic for a second opinion, found that there was NO leak, I didn't need any of the parts Ben/Alexander listed, and I just needed a recharge for the A/C system. Have been taking my cars here for oil changes for many years, can't beat having someone do your oil change for less than $20. They also rotate the tires change oil filter and do a in dept inspection which is included. The only thing they don't do is wash your car. Make an appointment and you are done is an hour. The one who attended me began to argue with me that it was the freon and I told him that it was not.... That it was something badly connected. They ended up charging me almost double the price it costs elsewhere to replace the starter and the worst of all was that they took all the Freon out of my car, to want to charge me $760 more for it. Sun Devil Auto, no matter which location you go to in the Valley is always going to provide excellent service. I have been to 3 different shops around the Valley since I have lived in Phoenix for the last 3 years, and each time has always been met with great service, as well as prices that many other places just can't compare to. I recently went in to have my wheel bearing replaced and while most places cost roughly $400-$500, Sun Devil auto was able to provide the wheel bearing replacement as well as an oil change, tire rotation, and tail light replacements for a little under $350. If payment is also an issue, they also allow for you to pay for the services through an installment plan (Shout out to John for showing this to me). It really depends on the time, but at least everytime I have brought my car in, it has not been busy. It seems like the employees are not only courteous and friendly, but they also work pretty efficiently in making sure that you get your car back within a reasonable time frame (2-3 hours). If you don't mind waiting, they also have a TV which is nice, a lot of other shops generally have old coffee and old magazines to go off of while you wait, so it's nice that this Sun Devil Auto has a TV. If you are unsure as to whether it will be busy, rather than just dropping in, I would recommend calling ahead of time and scheduling an appointment at least a day or two in advance, and they will be more than happy to accommodate you. Overall, 5 star service with this shop, and always come in here for a tire rotation and oil change. read more

Went in and dropped my car off and got the receipt back with the work order and all they did was change my oil and rotate my tires and the check engine light is still on. Two weeks ago when I got my oil changed & asked them to look at the breaks Ben calls me & says you need new tires. I said I just got new tires at discount because my tires were never rotated on my last oil change AT THIS LOCATION! - which shredded them so thanks for that extra cost as well due to your shops negligence. So how could I need new tires? Ben's tone changed quickly & said it's the rotors you should just get the life of your rotors out even tho he knew the car was shaking when it breaks. I asked do I need to do the tires as well? He says no you should go back to discount you have nice tires get more of these when you need them. Great. Confusing. Drove car for two weeks shaking became intense when breaking. Called Saturday to book appt. Ben says it will be $375 WITH LABOR! I had a headlight bulb out in my car. I took it to Sun Devil for an estimate and was told that it was no "easy task" to change the bulb in my car. I was quoted $140 and told it takes .8 hr of labor. Since I am a 70 yr old retired female this seemed extremely expensive. I went to Mach One Automotive where the owner Greg changed the bulb in 2 minutes and only charged for the bulb-no labor! He said "I wouldn't charge labor for 2 minutes". I returned to Sun Devil to ask about the estimate and was once again quoted $140 and told that is the standard company charge!!!! Wow. My husband did not have time to fix our Jeep during this busy holiday season. He called and told them what the exact problem was and got a quote over the phone. They said they could get him in that day. Once he dropped it off we got a phone call 2 hours later with two additional problems; first problem was they overlooked that they had to take the gaskets off to make the repair and THE SECOND WAS THE FACT THAT MY JEEP WAS LIFTED AND THEY DIDNT HAVE A MECHANIC TALL ENOUGH TO WORK ON THE GAS LINE WORK!!!! My first time there for an oil change was great! They seemed friendly and genuine, unfortunately that wasn't the way it ended up. I came back for my second time to get the engine coolant changed in my BMW 5 series. They told me that the bushing in my control arms was in critical condition, the car was no longer safe to drive because of it, and that was the reason why the inside wear on my tires was so bad. The inside wear on the tires is a performance thing on BMW's and common on all foreign cars. The bushings had normal wear for the car which has around 60,000 miles. They rang up a bill that was a little shy of $700. Skeptical because I don't know that much about cars I took it to my friend who is a certified BMW mechanic and he told me just how badly they tried to rip me off.
