Wow! I came in today with my 2 year old and a dead car battery. It was a rainy day, already stressful as it was and just needed my battery replaced. Travis was prompt and friendly and had my car fixed in less than an hour, despite the many cars in the bay. To top it all off, the issue wasn't my battery it was that something was lose, keeping power from getting from the battery to the car. They fixed it for free, and sent me on my way. At the end of a crappy day, this made it so much better. Unfortunately, I asked at time of service and was assured the fluid would mix and lighten. It did not. I also mentioned my feelings to the person at desk and they made me feel like I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. I asked that the filter and pan gasket be replaced and he said it was not necessary. I took it to another place to get the service I wanted and when they removed the filter, it was black as an 8 ball. So basically, I spent the money with you and was charged an outrageous cost for a half done service in my opinion. There is really nothing that can be done now, so I am not going to worry. I used to go there all the time and always trusted your place, but no more. There was one time I asked that a hose be put back on that was a simple 3 minute task, and was told I had to pay an 85 or 90 dollar diagnostic fee when I was already told what the problem was. That was the first time, I since went back to you and then I get this half service for full price. I would have gone back to have it fixed, but I really didn't know that happened until I went for an oil change and was told the transmission ,fluid was dark. When I said it was done a few months prior, they laughed and said I was ripped off and it wasn't done right. When I had it done again, they used 13 quarts for the flush and when they were done, it was driven for several miles and rechecked and it was bright red. That was the CORRECT way to do it. Your greed to hurt top dollar for half job was more important than business. I paid 110 dollars for the fluid, gasket, filter, and crush washer, labor and all. Now that's honesty and fairness. Anyway, I decided to let you know how I feel and appreciate the response. Thanks. Too bad I found out about it, otherwise, you would have gotten away with it. Oh, and by the way, the trans fluid is only 4.15 at or 17.00 per gallon, not 10 dollars a quart like you charge. You buy the oil by bulk so you pay nowhere near that. I'm done explaining and hope everyone calls you guys out on the repairs. Maybe it will change you and keep you honest. read more

Dropped off my car for an oil change and to have it inspected for a rattling noise underneath the hood and to be told what was going on. Oil change was completed and I was told my engine mounts needed to be replaced a new control arm my rear brakes were almost out and I needed two new tires. I said that I was going to consider just trading in the car that is a lot of work that has to be done now. when speaking with the management a comment was made by the manager himself that these cars get expensive when dealing with something electronical as well. I picked up my car to get home got back in it a few hours later to go to the store and when I open the door there is a large clicking sound coming out of my dashboard. Called them to make aware that when I dropped off my car this was not an issue and when I got it back from them it is, long story short the manager stated you cannot prove that and was going on and on about how I was questioning their integrity. I'm really disappointed with the interactions with both management that I've spoken too. The only person who did try to help me was Traci at headquarters so thank you Traci. unfortunately you're management refuses to take care of the situation and the ownership of it being black and white that the car was dropped off without that issue when I picked it up it had a new issue.I'm not stating that this wasn't done on purpose, but I do think that something happened while my car was in the shop. But at the end of the day you should not be arguing with people over the phone and you should be trying to keep them as a customer not drive them away. I will never in my lifetime ever go back to any one of these locations and I will make a point to not recommend this place to people that I know. read more

Look, we have a LOT of experience with this place. They've always seemed fair and their front desk guys are easy to talk to and understand. We had a jeep that had all kinds of problems, and I had trusted that they were charging us for things that we actually needed. Until... Last summer my 4Runner was running rough on start up. I took it in, thinking it had to be something simple. They called back and said we had the worst luck in cars and that it was, at the least, a blown head gasket. OK, fine. Decade old vehicle, things are bound to break. But then they told me that the only way they could guarantee that the problem would be fixed is if we replaced the entire engine. For $9000. EXCUSE ME?! So you're telling me you think it's a head gasket, but just in case let's buy a whole engine? We went back and forth with them for 2 days on it and they maintained they couldn't guarantee a fix unless we replaced the whole engine. We informed them we were taking it elsewhere. The other shop told us they were sure it was the head, they had it fixed, and now 9 months later it's fine. I wouldn't ever trust Sun Devil Auto again after this. read more

There is no way to contact the company and provide feedback on their site..you have to go through 3rd party channels. I went and took my car in for an oil change at 11:20am, I was not going to wait in the shop since was going out to lunch with family, but emergency happened went bake at 1pm but car had not even been started. I could not wait for the car at that point had to take care of life and then had to make arrangements for a ride back. Come 3pm I get a call my car is not done but at that point apparently I need other services done oh and my hub cap broke and they ordered one but I have to pay $60 and wait another 1hr. I told them to forget the hub cap just need my car asap. I am not much of a car person and I'm okay with that since there a lot of other things I do know, and I don't think I was treated right, were they broke a part of my car and then expected me to pay for it. It was just supposed to be an oil change. There is no way to review on their site,so I'm hoping they see this and answer if they think this is right. read more

Ok let's put it this way, I created this yelp account to warn other people to avoid this place. I have had my engine replaced by this sun devil auto along with various other items like my rack and pinion and radiator. I have a 2 year warranty on my engine in case of failure and I do t have to pay the same money I did at first. After all work was done, they recommended that I bring the car back in 500 miles with the new engine to see how it was holding up. Naturally I did. They reported that nothing was wrong and I could be on my way. Shortly after receiving my car back (about 3 weeks) my car begins to have issues with braking, accelerating, extremely high RPM's, and an almost surging motion once I start slowing down and braking. So my car is currently in the shop being diagnosed by the people who said it was "running strong." I will update my review once I get my car back and/or (hopefully not) a big list of repairs I need to do. Thank you for listening and really think about where you take your car (and I don't recommend to this sun devil auto). read more

I took my car here because I thought my brakes needed service and I needed an oil change. Not only do they have a great price on oil changes, but they looked at my breaks and said they were fine. I was impressed with their honesty. They could have lied to me and charged me and I would have never known the difference, but they didn't. That is hard to find in a mechanic these days. Also, as I was driving away, I remembered that the door to my gas cap was broken. I ran in and asked them if they would look at it. Tommy and Seth came to my rescue and fixed the door for me (which actually proved to be quite a hassle) demonstrating true customer service and professionalism. Highly recommended! read more

We brought or truck here because we were having issues, the owner aboard us to leave the truck so they could figure out what was wrong. We were given a ride to where we needed to be, very convenient. The mechanics were unable top find the issue, the owner charged us nothing for having the truck there for 2 days. We were very impressed by his honesty and integrity. I believe that this Sun Devil auto repair shop is the finest in the entire East Valley! The manager, Jeff, is very helpful and even had a car problem I was having checked out at no charge! Eli, the lead adviser, is amazing! I had a vehicle that had gone through 2 sets of 3 different engine sensors and needed a 3rd. The second 2 repairs were done at no charge! On top of that, Eli ordered my 3rd set of sensors from the dealership versus a less expensive parts supplier as he genuinely didn't want me to have any more issues with the set of 3 engine sensors. I'm quite sure that the shop lost a lot of money on my 2nd two warranty repairs, but at this shop, they always put integrity before profits! I definitely recommend this shop and have endless praise for Jeff and Eli! read more

Was traveling over thanksgiving weekend and of course my car started making some loud noise while driving. Was loud enough to make us know we had to get it looked at. The gentlemen that helped us, (sorry don't remember his name) was very friendly, seemed honest and very helpful. They were able to fix my car pretty quickly and I was able to continue with visiting family and having an enjoyable trip. I was kind of surprised being that it was Black Friday and holiday weekend but they made it pleasant under circumstance and got it done right away. My mom just recently bought a BMW Mini Cooper and we took it to CA. After the roadtrip, her car was in much need of an oil change. Because of our hectic schedule we didn't find time to schedule an appointment. We found this "AutoHaus" place in Tempe that told my mom she would need more than an oil change. The Thursday before the holiday weekend *Christmas) was the only day we had off together and we couldn't find a place to do our oil change. So we tried Sun Devil Auto. We called 5 different locations and everyone was booked. We thought we'd have to wait until the next time we were off to get the oil change, however, when we decided to give it one more shot, we called this location. We were privileged enough to speak to a Mr. Jeff. He was so sweet and assured us that he could squeeze us in a 30 minute time slot. It was now 12:50pm in the afternoon and he asked us to be there by 1:30pm. We lived about 20-30 mins away. So we rushed over to this location and Jeff was a complete ANGEL. They did an amazing JOB with our oil change and ran a diagnostic and told us we only needed tires! We have another car that needs maintenance and will be returning to see Jeff and the crew this coming Thursday! Thank God for people with Integrity!!! read more

I came in today and I had a problem with using a coupon that I found online for an oil change for $18. I mentioned sevetal times when booking and when i arrived abut my coupon. Appointment was at 1 but didn't get out of there till almost 2:20. Having a young kid with me didn't help with my patience but when they gave me a bill of $55 I almost lost it. They said my coupon wasn't for this oil change bc they used special full synthetic oil and not the basic oil the coupon was good for. After arguing back and forth that they should have told me that the THREE times I presented the coupon and before servicing my van I finally told them they would need to eat the cost. The manager ended up comping the entire fee and I paid $0 (which I'm very great full for) but after speaking with my husband about it he says our van does NOT use that special synthetic oil and it was a total rip off. Giving 2 stars bc he did not charge me at all but I still left like I was being the "crazy lady making a scene" at the oil shop. The manager even said that majority of the cars don't use the oil given on the coupon. Not sure why they offer it then. I have reviewed this establishment previously, and spoken highly of them. I have to give them just one star now, though. Less than a year ago, I spent about $3,000 on repairs that they said I needed. These repairs included new wheel bearings, intake manifold leaks, and and oil leak. At the time of the repair they also told me I have a 2-piece oil pan, which I do not. I am not very mechanically inclined, but should have hesitated when they told me that. I have since learned that I definitely DO NOT have a 2-piece oil pan. They had my truck taken apart for repairs at the time they spoke to me on the phone, and I was concerned about what they might do to it if I took it out of their possession. I took my truck to Firestone right across the street this past weekend and they told me I had an oil pan leak. Uh oh, is this a flashback? I told them that I had taken the truck to Sun Devil less than a year ago, and they had allegedly fixed the leak. Firestone gave it a courtesy inspection, and came up with the fact that my front wheel bearings had some "play" in them. I told them that Sun Devil had allegedly replaced them less than a year ago so they should not have any play in them. This makes me wonder whether Sun Devil had replaced the bearings or just "re-packed" them to get rid of the whining I had told them that I am getting from the front end. I will never, ever, recommend Sun Devil to anyone for auto repairs. Not even my worst enemy. read more

Went here a few months ago with my truck to have my ac checked. I was impressed that SunDevil checked it out and said everything was working fine. Since then I've been back 3 times to get my oil changed on my ford focus. The coupon I used each time said that get a free tire rotation. It wasn't until the 3rd time when I asked how come my tires were never rotated. The service desk told me that tire rotation is a courtesy and that they would only do it if I requested it or the tires looked liked it needed it. Since it was over 9000 miles I said that I would like them rotated. Sundevil called to tell my me my vehicle was ready and they suggested over $300 worth of preventative maintenance that should be done, mainly fluid and lug nuts that should be replaced. I said maybe after the holidays. When I picked up the car guess what, no tire rotation. I know this because one tire is different than ten other 3 and it hasn't moved. I only use Sun Devil Auto for all 3 vehicles in the household. Their mechanics are all certified, just like the dealers. Barry and Gabriel, the advisers, are awesome! They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and never pressure you for extra services that they recommend!. On multiple occasions they've done small extra repairs at no charge. Their oil change is very in depth including a complete inspection and tire rotation all for under $25! A short while back, I took my room-mate, friend's car in for A/C not working. The repair was difficult to diagnose and ultimately repair. The repair went over a weekend due to a part being shipped from out of state. Barry actually gave my friend a rental car to use at no charge until the repair was completed. The A/C is fixed and working perfectly. Today I made an appointment to have my daughter's vehicle's oil changed. I asked Gabriel if they could affix a front lower bumper splash guard that was lose and he said, "sure". I then asked him how much it would cost and he said, "no charge." Other than new tires and body work, all in my family only go to Sun Devil for any/all services or repairs. read more
