Really wanted to like this place as it's close and had relatively good reviews. We took our couch cushions to get cleaned last year and when we got them back they had chemical white bleach looking stains on them. We were incredibly bummed because it's an expensive couch. We thought maybe they don't work well with upholstery so we took our clothes again and one of my nice white shirts was stained on the arms that I was meant to wear to my bridal hair trial. I was super bummed and he kept saying to bring it back when "he had more time to focus" like what does that mean?? Were you not focusing before? We picked up what will be our last big drop off and they stick safety pins in the clothes that leave visible marks. I wish it was also a bit cleaner in there. read more

Nice staff and good prices but... I picked up my sports jacket today and when I took it out of the plastic liner at home it smelled like armpit b.o. So gross. Now I will have to go someplace else and get it dry cleaned again. This was my second bad experience after years of using this place and it's truly disappointing. Rest assured, I won't be going back to see if they can fix the problem since they should have some quality control and known the jacket reeked badly before they gave it back to me. Too bad I didn't check the jacket out when I picked it up; silly me for assuming it would be clean and fresh. Another reviewer here (Alana) had the same problem with Sun Brite so I know mine's not an isolated incident. Over the past few years Sunbrite has slowly become disorganized and a fire trap. Conclusion: Despite the sweet demeanor of the staff (only reason they got 2 stars and not 1). This doesn't compensate for the lack of any actual dry cleaning going on. Will not return. I brought them a bunch of shirts to be dry cleaned. I got them back and one of the white shirts had spots all over it and not one shirt was pressed correctly. They all were wrinkled. I just moved here from colorado and am very upset with the service and the half ass work they do here. read more

Quality of cleaning and mending was fine. I took in six items: three for dry cleaning and three for mending. I found out the items that needed to be mended were also dry cleaned when I returned to pick up. I wasn't expecting the charge for that and felt I was misinformed about services. I was given a discount but will not be returning. It also took five days for my services to be performed. read more

This is a lovely family-owned business and I've had two very positive experiences here. I brought in a jacket and suit and needed the jacket the next day. They graciously accommodated my request and had it ready the following morning. The suit was immaculately pressed and available well within their initial estimate. The gentleman and lady who work here were extremely friendly and helpful and they made the experience even better. Compared with prices where I used to live, they are quite reasonable for the quality of work. I'm glad to know about Sun Brite and I plan to use them for my future cleaning needs! read more

We had just moved into the neighborhood and received a coupon to try this place out. Perfect timing since the dry cleaning had been piling up during the packing and relocating to the new abode. Although Lombard for the most part is pretty dingy, this place is exceptionally dingy located in a worn down little strip of shops. Upon entry, the first thing I noticed was the strong smell of cat urine. Perhaps it wasn't that exact substance but it sure as hell reminded me of it. I went ahead and handed over my clothing. The lady was incredibly sweet and friendly and she was excited to hear I was using the coupon. I just hoped that her mood and personality would be translated to the quality of the service rather than the ambiance of the place. Just two days later, my items were ready for pick-up. I will say they did a solid job, prices were moderate, but the unfavorable scent remained upon return. Needless to say, I will be looking for a different neighborhood cleaner. Just hard to pick up freshly cleaned clothes from a place that smells, well, not clean. read more

I took a sweater in for cleaning. A number of spots were not thoroughly removed. I took it back, they apologized and it was supposed to be returned with the rest of the clothes I brought in that day. I took those clothes home the next week and realized the sweater was not included (expensive sweater). They said they'd check around and to stop back. I returned 4 times and each time they insisted they didn't have it--I must have it, though they'd continue to look and to come back 'in a few days'. The last time I came in, the owner asked why I keep coming back--they don't have it and I must not be able to find it with the 6 other items they sent me home with. My jobs for the past 40+ years have required me to have professionally cleaned clothes--not my first 'Dry Cleaning Rodeo'. I don't have it; they take no accountability for any other outcome; they must have given it to someone else (accidently) or destroyed the cotton/silk/cashmere sweater trying to get the stains out. They aren't willing to compensate me in any manner and in fact, the owner said, because, "...I've only been there 3 times, I must be trying to pull something on them." I don't steal and I don't lie. They are incompetent, irresponsible, judgmental, and whatever the word is for 'blaming someone else for their own issues/calling someone a deceitful liar'--well, they are that too. Anyway - the price is cheap but the work is no good. The guy who works there is friendly. Oh...my...goodness! I brought in my grandmother's 50 year old cardigan in hopes it would brighten up a wee bit. Ever since I can remember, she had worn it. As she got older, she refused to have it cleaned in case it fell apart in the wash. It had been laundered in at least 6 years. After she passed, it came home w me, dingy as could be. When I picked it up at Sun Brite, It was so beautiful! 98% of the stains were gone! The homemade buttons and the crewel flowers were intact, and boldly stood out against the cream color of the sweater! I was so touched by the care, gentle touch and attention to detail, that tears swelled up in my eyes. I wear this garment and I feel my grandmothers spirit and now I can strut proudly in my gloriously restored cardigan! I agree that the place has no curb appeal, but that's not what is important to me. I took my white comforter in with makeup stains on it. The friendly owner told me they could no doubt lighten the stains, but probably not remove them. Since that's about what I expected -- it had been cleaned elsewhere once before with that result -- I left it with them. What a surprise when I picked it up! There was no trace of a stain remaining. That deserves a big thumbs up, in my opinion. (And, to be clear, I didn't notice any bad smells such as other reviewers mentioned.) read more

I took a pair of summer pants and a white blouse in to get them cleaned so I could take them to wear for my 50th class reunion in California. When I went to wear them the white blouse was discolored (it was not white) and the white in the pants was not white. They were so bad I couldn't wear them. I was so upset and I will never use Sun Brite Cleaners again. read more
