Usually this place is fine though maybe a bit sketchy at night. The prices are fair though and you can use an app for the Speed Queen washers and dryers. I've washed my clothes here a few times and haven't had any problems. Usually I'll just throw my clean clothes in my basket and fold them at home but i decided to fold them on a table there. Well the next day I started getting itchy and it seems like I got bedbugs from the tables. They should really do a better job of cleaning and disinfecting the tables, baskets and such. read more

The washers and dryers work well and cleaned our laundry just fine. But the place is disgusting, and there were people smoking fentanyl right outside the doors the whole couple of hours we were doing laundry. The information on here says that there is TVs and computers and vending machines and I did not see any of that I'm not too sure on the Wi-Fi as I didn't check. The little deal on here saying that you can get a free nylon bag for leaving a review and tagging somebody in it is crap, I tried to ask for a black bag and was charged a dollar a piece for a simple black garbage bag. And the other employee working there told us that they don't charge for those and that the employee that gave us the bag was just pocketing the dollars.... So there's that. read more

This was my first time visiting this laundromat. I came early Sunday morning to wash some clothes and things were going alright, until someone's dog started pooping all over the laundromat and outside on the sidewalk out front. There are no attendant present and the bathroom is locked so if you're a poor soul that happens to unknowingly walk in dog poop, you're screwed. Another thing, before coming I read online that they have card readers so I had every intention of using them, but after arriving I found out that none of the card readers actually work. So if you come to wash, be prepared with quarters, cash and/or their Speed Queen app where you can only charge $5+ on your card at a time. I will not be back. read more

I requested a full laundry service from Alpine: pick-up, wash, fold, and drop-off. I've never done anything like that before, but I have just had surgery and can't really do much on my own, so I really needed the help. I booked the service on their website pretty easily and they came to my house as advertised. Laundry was returned today (the day after Thanksgiving!), clean and folded, as promised. Price was reasonable at ~$2/lb; this appears to be slightly better than average for the area, per my Googling. They even did a load of delicates for me and brought everything back on hangers / in plastic. This service really saved my bacon post-op and I will definitely use it again if I need help with laundry in the future. read more

Nasty dirty here. I lasted about 2 minutes before heading out to a laundry mat in Kenton, about 7 minutes away.

I really love Alpine. They have free WiFi and machines in good working order. The dryers get hot. The washers change prices depending upon whether you want hot or cold water. BUT, I made the mistake of visiting around 7am one morning. The laundromat was unattended, one of their machines had been broken into while the laundromat was unattended, and I was being stalked and harassed my some weird old dude that followed me in and out of the laundromat and sat in his car waiting for me. Of all the times I have gone, it's usually when it is attended and there isn't an issue. I'm afraid to go back now. If you operate 24 hours a day, there should be a staff member available. People using axes and stalking patrons shouldn't be a concern. It was good while it lasted. read more

Ok to be quite honest I haven't step foot into this establishment. I don't have to, the customer service that I received via text message at 11:00 p.m. from a live person was exceptional. I have never experienced customer service this top notched from anywhere. All of my questions were answered promptly. A solution was offered immediately for the delima I was facing, which had nothing to do with the services they offered. I was asking for services not even offered yet and they were so accomidating. This is my first and my last time here. I was excited that it was open 24 hours however, the place is nasty. There are drug addicts and beggars outside the door. It's midnight, and there are so many little kids running around like they own the place. I don't see an attendant on duty, even though it says, there is one here at all times. I found this 24/7 coin operated laundry while staying at a hotel in Portland. We desperately needed some clean clothes and their off hours were convenient. I was disappointed in the number of machines that were out of service and how dirty the facility was. It did the job and it was busy late night. The average cost for a two load wash was $3.50 for warm water and $1.00 for the dryer with .25 cents additional for more time. read more

I wash my detailing towels here every 4-5 months. Last time I used their giant load washing machines, it was $7.50, now it's $10.50. Why? When I checked in on Yelp, it says you get a free clothes bag. I asked the person in charge, and she said no, we do not honor that anymore. What? Your not honoring something you advertise? Oh yeah.... wifi, plus tv for viewing... and also a 24 hour facility... sure it's ugly and yes, it can be full of hooligans and sketchies, but hey.... it was super close to home, and I confess now, I would wash all of my home rugs and foot traffic protectors and dump 'em in the large washers here, and spare both my motor from premature demise, and my washer from dirt!!! This place was just darn handy... nothing fancy, but did the trick. If you're careful with attention, you will spot a scene in the movie Wendy and Lucy starring Michelle Williams (of Ledger hook-up fame from Cold Mtn) where she gets off the Tri-Met bus and booom!!!!! a panned shot of this exact intersection of Lombard and Vancouver.. on the silver screen. I beamed when I saw it (nearly brought some tears to my eyes, it did..) Boy was that a raw exploration of utter loneliness and it pained me to watch it... Also, good shots of the Walgreens on N Lombard in Kenton and that fab old building that rents out rooms is clearly visible in the film as well... let's see...corner of N Russet and Peninsular... This is a no nonsense laundromat. You can wash your clothes in large load machines for a lower cost than anywhere else. They offer full service cleaning and folding for a very affordable price when you are short on time. There is always someone on staff during the day which I feel prevents too much troublesome people from frequenting the place. Oh the life of someone who owns her own washer and dryer must be dull and boring. I mean, I spend about one evening every two weeks at the laundromat where I am witness to unruly children, people trying to rifle through the lost and found for free clothing, and most recently, some guy microwaving fish. Yeah, fish and fabric softener smell so great together. What do you do with your Friday nights huh? I go to Alpine because its well maintained, there's a nice flat screen TV with cable, computers with internet access, wi-fi, and the employees know how to usher the weirdoes out ASAP. This is one of the cleanest laundromats I've been to in Portland and its open 24 hours. Another place that is also open 24 hours: Javier's. Its right across the street, which means I can treat myself to a breakfast burrito for dinner (ham + eggs = love). Another thing I would like to mention for anybody debating over where to go in North Portland is that my clothes dry really well here. I pay a little extra to use the newer machines, but I think it also has something to do with how regularly they clean the lint filters. I appreciate how they keep an employee on duty most of the time and he's usually mopping the floors or making sure people aren't overloading/oversudsing machines. On July 4th, 2012 I realized my American flag-inspired bikini top was in the dirty laundry pile. Having just moved into a new house with no washer, I was panicked. This top was crucial for the celebration of freedom and without it I could no longer justify my jingoistic demeanor. So I hopped on Google Maps like a boss and saw Alpine 2 down the road. The place was bumpin. Despite it, there were still enough washers and dryers to accommodate everyone. I was not only able to wash my favorite bikini top, but I was also able to wash the blankets my cats peed on at the same time. Not sold? Keep reading. The walls at Alpine 2 are plastered in the most entertaining signs. I won't share any because the best part is reading them when you're bored. But it is unlikely you will be bored. There's a huge ass television at the back with a massage chair, a soda machine for carbonated sugar lovers, free WiFi, and even two computers for customer use. The BAMF owner is always there, strolling the aisles of machines reminding everyone to enter his drawing for a new bike and making casual chit chat. The best part of all? The coin machine is like a quarter bank, accepting dimes and nickels for broke mofos like me that have to scrounge between couch cushions just to wash socks. Pop a few of those sad puppies in and out your quarter will come. Obviously, if you're without a washer and dryer in your own home visit Alpine 2. Live in SW Portland? Who cares. Check it out. There are several reasons I would want to be rich: 1) Never wash dishes again 2) Drink excessively without having to drive 3) Never set foot in a laundromat for as long as I live After years of having a washer/dryer in my apartment I moved to a place without **gasp** laundry access. You would think a place carrying the same hours and convenience as 7-Eleven would charge just a smidgen more for this service but you would be incorrect. You might also think it would be dirty, dark and dingy but this would also be a false assumption. The place is actually very well-lit and clean with modern machines that even tell you how much time you have left in the wash. Does it end there? No! The place offers free Wi-Fi and they even have computers available for free! So how am I killing time while waiting for my laundry? I'm writing this Yelp review. Is there more I could write? Lets be honest with ourselves, machines break down. Even nice new ones. And at some laundry mats they say "too bad, use another one" but at his place, they'll replace any money lost and then detergent too. They keep the facility very clean, they have a TV, chairs and through a doorway a thrifty little spot you can poke through for random things like swearers and shorts. The people that work here are friendly and always willing to help. This location is near a Mexican restaurant and a corner store. In theory you can grab lunch, a drink watch an episode of something and get your laundry done all in a couple hours. Lastly, I like to say that they have a bunch of machines, plus they're open 24 hours. You're not likely to be stuck waiting for a machine. read more

During a recent stay with my sister in NoPo, I had the inconvenience of not having access to our own washer and dryer so I had to brave the laundromat. Due to work hours I wasn't able to do any laundry until after 10pm so I was thankful to find Alpine! They always have a ton of open machines, free wifi, free phone, and a flat screen tv. If you can just look past the shady peeps (go with a friend!), this place is ideal for a convenient place to wash and dry your laundry. read more

Clean facility with the same washers and even bigger driers than the overpriced hipster laundry/bar of spin laundry ($5.50 for a regular wash cycle vs $3.50 here). Compared to other laundry mats I've used in Portland, this one is so far the worst. The washing machines has a smell to them and the dryers were very slow. We found ourselves adding more and more time to the dryers and it seemed to take forever, making being in the hot laundry mat on a hot day that much worse. Seems like the price of the washers is cheaper than other laundry mats, but having to put extra money in he dryers to finally get clothes dried negated the washer savings. There are better laundry mats close by. Will be going to those in the future. read more

The hotel we're staying at locks their laundry room up at 10pm. There wasn't a sign posted for hours so when we started clothes it was 8pm. And after dumping several round of quarters in the machines, our clothes were still wet, and they locked our wet clothes up when locked up for the night. So, we had to find somewhere in a pinch to dry our clothes. They never offered us to keep drying there, but the hotel dryers wouldn't get our clothes dry anyway after dumping a bunch of quarters into their machines, we decided to come here. Apparently people only wash their clothes in this area during business hours because this was the closest 24hr place around. The place was clean, and just what we needed. However, watch out for the children running amuck. I hope they fall down and hurt themselves. And soon. It's 11pm at night, these kids need to be in bed. The nighttime guy is yelling at them to stop running and the parents didn't bring these poor kids anything to do. read more
