My car is currently at Sun Auto in Henderon on Stephanie. Brought it in for wobble while braking. Approved lower front control arms and front rotors and pads for $1400.00. I asked them to also change oil. Fast forward, the car now does not start. They gave it to me and as I drove away from the shop the car was misfiring, check engine light was flashing and I turned around and barely got it back to the shop. They test drove it and the car is now a no-start. They are claiming the oil was low and when they changed it that might have exposed an engine issue. There was no engine issue prior. I checked the oil and they overfill as the dip stick showed way past full. They are checking it now. I guarantee they will not take any responsibility. Anyone have any advice on how to proceed? We've usually taken our plugin 2012 Prius to the dealer when the maintenance required indicator message comes on but I wanted to try Sun Auto St Rose after they had done such a great job putting a new engine in my daughters Kia last month. I was again impressed by Mike and his team. Though just a routine oil change and tire rotation they had it done in less than 45 minutes and at a cost that was less than half of what I would have paid at the dealer. I found this place on yelp. Great reviews but I had no idea. Upon my 1030am arrival, just about every bay was filled. I was thinking I should have made an appointment online. I walked into the reception area and it was sparking. Seating area, with a full view of the cars being worked on. Keith greeted me from behind the clean counter. He was polite, mild mannered and helpful. After creating my profile I was set for a synthetic oil change. I saw my cost was $26. I thought it was an error. I'd been paying $97 -&105 for a decade!!! He explained is been paying for the name; a molecule is the same is what is been using and this new product. I felt punked. Looks like I have a new full service automate spot! Sense of entitlement from staff that was extremely off putting. Only got an oil change, so can't comment on their proficiency as mechanics. I'm sure they're perfectly good on that side of things. I'd hoped to have my car's air conditioner refreshed but came across a problem. For one, I tried to call this business a few times but there wasn't anyone there to answer. In addition to that, when I was finally able to get a hold of someone, hours later, they told me that there was going to be a lengthy delay because they were backed up about 55+ cars back. I asked why there was such a back up and the person I spoke with said that it was because their system had been somehow hacked. And so they were spending much of that day trying to get their system back up on line and running. So, they also told me that there was no time estimate that they could give me and there was no way to guarantee even that the work could be done in the same day. They told me that even if I brought my car in that they wouldn't be able to guarantee that anyone would be able to look at it or therefore even begin to assess if it was something more than just the AC that was having issues. So, it seemed to me no matter what, I wasn't going to be getting any help from them in time for me to stay on schedule to leave and head back home. I can appreciate the man I spoke to for having told me the truth about their system being hacked and that there was no way to guarantee that my car would be worked on let alone looked at. It was just inconvenient, more than anyone knows. Hopefully the next time that I have to contact this business they will be up and running and without any issues. read more

I started coming to Sun Auto after the pandemic because the shop I used to go to was no longer open on Saturdays. I chose Sun Auto based on the positive reviews, which is why I feel the need to share my personal experiences. I've been to Sun Auto several times for oil changes and once or twice I've had the guys try to upsell me, which was off-putting, but my most recent experience really did it. My CEL went off and Chris told me I needed to get the leak detection pump replaced, which would cost around $800 parts and labor. He also suggested a "yearly" 3 step fuel system service for $160. Overall bill was over $1,200. I just wanted my car fixed so I paid it without question (big regret). 5 days later my CEL goes off again so I took it back in. Chris called me and made it sound like it was the worst news he had to give someone. He said my intake manifold had to be replaced and would cost over $1,200 to fix. I had enough. I found another mechanic who fixed it in less than 30 minutes for $170 parts and labor! The mechanic also said the previous mechanic (clearly Sun Auto) didn't tighten my oil drain plugs. I never write such negative reviews based on one bad experience, but I do feel the need when I see a pattern of unethical practices. When it comes to certain services, I rely on experts to fix the job and charge a reasonable price. Price gouging and doing a careless job on top of that is something consumers should be aware of. I will no longer be giving them my business nor would I recommend them as a place you can trust where they will not take advantage of you (though I suspect it depends on which serviceman you get). read more

I brought my car in for a broken AC, which is something you don't want in Vegas. They called me a few hours later with a diagnosis and a quote. While the quote was 20% over what I expected, they explained the AC condenser was the reason why it was so expensive. I authorized the repair and picked up the car two days later (I was not in a rush, this is a spare car). I picked up the car and indeed the AC condenser was the main expense, whereas the actual work was *very* reasonable. The AC now blows ice cold and I am happy with the repair. I plan on visiting Sun Auto Service again for basic maintenance and repairs. They earned a new customer. read more

I have an older truck - Dodge Dakota 2004 - that often has issues with the transmission, the gentlemen here take great care of it and I immediately notice how much better it drives as compared to when when I dropped it off. Their customer service is polite and to the point, we receive a diagnosis and quote for whatever needs maintenance and within days my car is back on the road. When I drop off my car for any form of servicing, I know it's in safe hands. My experience was great as well. I usually don't take the time to review, but had to. Often auto services get a bad wrap. Even the manager had been kind and helpful seeing me waiting while you were on a call. Cool to know that people out there in business still care. My radiator was leaking, you check my system and didn't even charge me. Who does that these days? Great service, fast and no one tried to take advantage. What is the point of making an appointment, when that appointment gets moved back, only to be told when you arrive for said delayed appointment that they messed and had you scheduled for an oil change(which was just done at this same location a month ago) when you had requested a tune up?! THEN to be told, "sorry, no way I can do what you scheduled, I got 20 cars ahead of you!" "But have a nice day, sir!" REALLY?! HAVE A NICE DAY?!!! You just fucked up A LOT of plans by delaying me in the first place by a week, and now you can't do the service I SCHEDULED VIA YOUR APP?! I gave him my information and told him what I was there for and he quoted me $89 for the oil change. I mentioned that I had a coupon and he said that the coupon wouldn't apply due to my car needing a full synthetic oil change not synthetic blend. He has no customer service skills, seldom made eye contact, and you could tell he absolutely does not like his job dealing with people. I would say that if you're a lady coming in by yourself this is one of the last shops you should go too. i read the other reviews to make sure i wasn't tripping. they have tried overcharging so many people for work that isn't even as much as they try charging. I went in for an AC inspection in which they told me that the clutch broke off the AC compressor and therefore needed to replace the whole thing trying to charge me $2,000 AMERICAN DOLLARS. my AC compressor isn't more than $400, they put that it was $900. to add the freon was $300. plus $600 in labor. $150 for a system recharge. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I don't know other mechanics or that I can't look up on the same internet how much parts are and how much labor usually is. In conclusion, this place is so sketchy and misogynistic. read more

Update Feb 8th 2021: Zero reply from them. I'll mail another letter. Update Jan 9 2021: Mailed Sun the invoice for the repair work and parts and a letter requesting they reimburse me for the amount listed since 1.) I had zero oil smell or leaks since before taking it to Sun for this oil change, and 2.) the engine cover was missing after the oil change, and after getting it back from Sun there's a crack in the cover, further suggesting it was ripped off violently, causing the cover mount / valve cover to crack. Update Jan 8 2021: Took my car to another mechanic today to look at it and he easily found the oil problem to be a cracked valve cover stemming from the engine cover mount. Caused by removing the engine cover improperly (the engine cover Sun removed and was missing). It's not brittle, it's a 2017 model. The repair comes in just under $500 parts and labor. I had zero oil smell or leaks before Sun changed the oil then all this happened. And after returning to Sun to retrieve my engine cover and complaining about the oil smell and oil all over the top of the motor, 2 weeks after the oil change, Sun didn't bother to take a step back and and take a proactive approach to see what might be wrong. My hope is that Sun will reimburse me for the repair. If they do, that will be a good win for them, and I'll post another update here. Update Jan 5 2021: Updated my rating from 1 to 2 stars today: It looks like the store manager called a few times and left me a voicemail after posting this review. I do appreciate the concern. They have always been good with customer service. However, I'm beyond talking about it, because I feel I can only find a trusted independent mechanic to work on my cars. read more

I made an appointment and arrived on time for an oil change. Guy at front desk said would be 30 to 45 minutes to do the oil change. ( I can change my own oil laying on my back in my garage faster than that and I Should have.) After waiting an hour and no oil change , I ask the guy at the front desk for my keys as I had another appointment. He said " Oh sorry,didn't know they didn't come get your vehicle." I looked in the garage as I was leaving and all I could see were tech's standing around and feeding their faces. The price is very reasonable. For a female driver like me I needed a place like this that I know I will trust. Today, I'm so blessed, I brought my car with them because my turn signal light bulb wasn't working ( I happen to buy my own bulb before I went there, so I brought it with me and gave it to them) and not only they fix it for me so quick, the service was also for FREE! I brought my car in to do my service checklist for Turo. I paid the $26 for the inspection and was told I need a new tires in order to pass, I wasn't comfortable with the amount quoted so I went somewhere else and was told I could come back and he would just finish the checklist same day. I came back literally 20 minutes later, he didn't have to do the checklist again other than filling out the paper And he charged me a second time Lol like that's ridiculous. I've been taking my vehicle here for 5 years for oil changes with no qualms; hence the two stars. I decided to take my car in because it was shaking while braking over 40mph; warped rotors. I had no idea it was the rotors when I took it in, but I told them what was wrong and left. They called me back and told me it was the engine mounts and the repairs would be $1,900. I caved and paid. Got the car returned, and while the car was more still while idle, it still shook while braking. Took it back and mentioned the rotors. They told me it wasn't the rotors, but it did need basic maintenance costing $1,650. Enough. They must think I'm dumb and rich. Took it somewhere else where they confirmed it WAS the rotors, and fixed it. Will not be going back. read more

Must recently, I made the mistake of taking my car to the dealership for repair and was quoted $5,000 (with all sorts of unnecessary hoohah thrown in) and required almost a week. I was hoping this was my new shop but I was disappointed. The oil change is supposed to include a top-off of fluids. After leaving I popped the hood and my brake and steering fluids were both below min. Had to go back and get them filled. Now I've noticed that they didn't fill the washer fluid either.
