I was a customer for many years. Oil changes and other minor issues. They had (and mean HAD) always been honest. However, I will never return due to their incompetency and mainly dishonesty. I don't know what happened but I can't express my utter disgust with Sun Auto. About a year ago I had a backyard mechanic do a few things to my new to me 2016 Mercedes. I did not ask but he changed the headlight bulbs to brighter white ones. But the right headlight never illuminated the road correctly. So, I brought it to the place I thought I could trust - Sun Auto. They diagnosed the issue as needing a new headlight assembly for about $1,000 along with labor of over $300. So this would cost me just north of $1,400 with tax. I did some research and found an aftermarket price for the assembly of $400 and a mobile (real) mechanic who agreed upon $200. When the mechanic came to my house I left him with my car. 15 minutes later he texted he was finished. The actual issue was the guy who put in the bulbs was clearly an idiot and put the right one in upside down. My mobile guy fixed this. He told me he didn't want anything close to $200 but I paid that because I hired him to correct the problem. I did contact Sun Auto main office and after several tries, heard from their area manager, Sean. I told him what happened and how I was out $200 for labor and about $100 to ship the part back. He then said he'd contact the store to get their side of the story. Bottom line is he said a check for $300 was being requested to reimburse me for the cost of "fixing" the issue that apparently their mechanics were too stupid or too dishonest to correct. It's now been 13 days since the check was promised but I've received nothing. Nor have I heard back about this. And yes, I have asked. In 2019, I recommended the shop and returned a number of times with both our cars. As the raven said, "Nevermore." read more

Been coming here for years and always had better experiences here than the dealership service center...until now. Recently brought in my wife's BMW X1 4 cylinder, as as it was running rough. Their diagnosis is that it needs new spark plugs and ignition coils and quoted me $1200. When questioned, they said it would be a little over $300 in labor. The rest was parts and guarantee. I found the OEM parts online for $150 and it will take me 1 hour to change the spark plugs and coils. Highway robbery. Paid the $200 diagnostic fee and took the car home. Don't be fooled by their rating like I was. Terrible experience. My AC wasn't blowing cold so I took it in to be looked at 8am. They called me at 10am to advise my AC wasn't working due to a leaky hose and was going to cost me $754. Seemed way too high to me but I told them to move forward. Instantly regretted my decision and called them back to cancel the service but they claimed they already started working on the car. Returned to the shop 2 hours later after they claimed to have already started and waited another 1.5 hours till it was finally finished. They also said I needed a new battery because mine was leaking. Brought my car into AAA today since battery is under warranty and battery was NOT leaking (shocker) and they found a greasy rag left in my car underneath the hood which could've caused more mechanical issues or could've caught fire!! read more

Sun Auto on St Rose Pkwy......They misquote, they tell you the cost and double it after they do the diagnostic. Charlie is very hard to deal with. He's condescending and arrogant!! He changed all of the prices after diagnostic and when I told him not to do the work, he still charged me for the diagnostic.They wanted to charge me $1142.00 for 1 axle, just rear brakes after he originally quoted me 600.00, only if I needed rotors, which I don't believe I did! He added things to the work, that was not mentioned in the original quote. These people are crooks. I will never go back there again!! read more

I took my car there for alignment service on 3/8/2025. They pull it up on a lift and manager comes back and shows a picture on his cell phone saying there a hole in a plastic somewhere near by the tire and tire requires alignment. I agreed to the service despite my better judgement. They showed no alignment specs and numbers to show it does require alignment. After 30 minutes manager comes back manage comes back and says it is done. I asked to see the numbers. He said it will be mailed out in bulk email to customers at night. This was a bullshit response. But at that time, I had paid for the service, so I left. Sure, enough there was no email from them. My car still showed alignment problem as it veered off to the side. I took my car to Firestone and I got a computer reading of the alignment numbers before and after the service. Sun Auto is a scam. In my case I don't even think did the service. They just kept my cat for 30 minutes and charged me 150 bucks. I would not take my car there anymore. Be wary if you decide to have your car service there. read more

My car was had some problems while driving. Left it there to do a $180 diagnostic test, a couple of hours later I get a text and call with a whole list of recommendations. None of which was the actual problem. They did state that my filter was dirty and I should change it which they did. I ended up picking my car up $400 later. Turn my car on and noticed my check engine light was on which when I dropped it off it wasn't on. Stopped by Autozone to see what it was for. Apparently I need a New Mass Airflow sensor! Which was NOT on the diagnostic list they gave me. I feel like I was robbed! After looking at the receipt I noticed the filter was $40, They charged me almost $160 for the labor.. $400 and the issue with my car wasn't even listed on the long list of recommendations, almost $5500 worth of recommendations. I was recommended by Carmax to go to Sun Auto because they are honest and I've gone to other locations and no problem. This location though.... I Don't feel comfortable with them working on my car! I feel like they saw a perfect opportunity to take advantage of a woman who knows nothing about cars and tried to make a quick buck. Ladies look elsewhere!!!! read more

This location is over priced and double charge for labor on services that go together for example changing spark plugs and coils they estimated two different labor prices for each item. I have warranty which I knew did not cover any regular maintenance services but out of the laundry list of items that they said I needed done for diagnostic they ONLY submitted two items to warranty to determine coverage. $9000 worth of repairs !! Spoke with another mechanic who stated if all these items needed to be replaced the car wouldn't run !! I went ahead paid the $185 diagnostic and will take my car elsewhere because I don't know how much they expect a hour for services but I will not be paying it !! read more

As is the anxiety of how much will it take to fix and if ill be without a car for awhile. I had a friend recommended this place. After a friendly hello, my car was in the garage getting looked at. 15 minutes later the problem was diagnosed and I needed a hose replaced. They ordered to be in the next day. After deeming my car driveable, I left and returned the next morning. Quick greeting, and in a less than an hour my car was fixed and out the door. Can't say enough good things about this shop. The manager Wes was professional, empathetic, patient, KNOWLEDGEABLE and HONEST. I called for a second opinion and he offered a thorough diagnostic. He explained to me in detail the current issues, even going as far to research warranty defects and inform me of them. Car issues are mentally and financially draining but he gave me all of the right information and next course of action. I was able to do my own research and speak more knowingly on the issues once I brought it to the dealership. The codes they provided matched the dealerships findings. If you go to a different, 2G mechanic then the amount of money put in to fix the car can waive the smog test meaning you'll only pay about $450. Now I'm $1700 deep to fix for a smog test. I came here for the first time Thursday, 1/12/23 to get my car checked and see what's going on. I mentioned to Chris that my acceleration kept delaying and it worries me. Told me to replace my battery, air filter, and axle shaft. Spent almost $800 on everything! They said they see nothing wrong with acceleration. Today, I was horrified on the freeway as my car was not accelerating for more than 60 mph! Literally STRUGGLING to make it to their shop because I know something is wrong! I just got everything they said to take care of?! Mind you, I came here last Thursday and mentioned this to Chris and after taking it to this shop, IT HAS GOTTEN WORST! How? I could have gotten into an accident. I also mention today, I started to smell like something was burning. After today, they said it's fine? Well wow. Don't see anything wrong? Ok. I wouldn't make my way back here if there wasn't anything WRONG. I am not satisfied at all. Also, one of their workers looks suspicious. Coming in he kept staring like he knew something was wrong. Took my Lexus in for an alignment as it was pulling bad to the right. They were the cheapest in the area and overall with good decent reviews. I was skeptical as i never been here before. So i get my alignment done and as i pay they tell me my right tire has a split in it to be careful and get it checked out/replaced. So as i am driving home its still pulling to the right but not as bad so i called and they told me until i change that tire it will not drive good. I was skeptical to the info they gave to me so when i went home i removed my tire and sure enough in the rear wall of the tire i found the split so definitely i went to get another tire. After the new tire was installed it drove perfect! so glad i chose this place to get my alignment done. Would of been a 5 star but i wish the technician would of took me out to the garage to show me the tire before he re-installed it because he said it was split without actually showing me. read more

My son took his car to Sun Auto on St Rose on 8/19 since his AC wasn't blowing out cold Air , free AC inspection , remind you he has a 3rd Party Warranty and Sun Auto is one who is listed, never had issues before with them until this ... they quoted my son over 2300 and the told him that's with his warranty, he didn't pay it.. they said he needed a condenser ,compressor , refrigerant ... Made appt at the Subaru Dealership , took it up there this morning received a call back all he has to pay is the $200 for Diagnostic test everything else is covered .. so sounds like to me they were going to pocket the 2300 if my son paid .. since his warrantee covered everything ... just a heads up for anyone who goes to Sun Auto read more

Went to a total of 3 mechanics and the 2 mechanics that were not Sun Auto wanted to charge me $2,800-$3,500. Sun Auto wanted to charge me $6,500 and I should mention they charge $205 just for an evaluation, paying to see what's wrong with my car and then paying literally double to get it fixed? What makes it even more comical is I was chatting with another customer and they also wanted to charge him double the one good thing I can say is at least they didn't target me to overcharge because they do it with everyone else also ! To make a very long story short, I've been experiencing numerous problems with my Kia Sorento since October of last year. After taking it to the Kia dealership multiple times and getting nowhere, I decided to go with Sun Auto for the first time, and, thankfully, all my problems were resolved. JD and Mike were instrumental in resolving the problems that the Kia dealership couldn't fix. Upon receiving the car, I did have some minor issues with my keys and the ceiling lights, but again, JD and Mike completely took care of everything at no extra charge. I thought to myself need an oil change and already there gave him a chance we'll once I got the diagnosis of my car I was asking question's still attitude until I asked his name and his manager then his demeanor change a little bit. So while waiting for my car to finish I checked my tires cause they also did a tire rotation mind you I have rims on my car well I noticed my front passenger front was missing the cover so I went back and ask him he tells me I don't know it was there well walking back to my car I found it under the car towards the back smh so I told him what's going on he said I don't know cause he put it back together well it was cracked and stripped so he said her would order another one well took him a good 2 1/2 weeks to get the part. Not to mention when my husband went to look for new rims it was missing the lock but I guess you call it so when he called they said to bring the car back and see what they can do.........
