I'm sorry to have to write this review, but my experience here was so disappointing - I have to post this. I had a coupon for $19.95 for an oil and filter change. I also asked them to run a diagnostic to find out what other problems my old van had. Cost was $149.00. I asked them if they could switch out my instrument panel (I purchased another one from Ebay as Ford no longer sells them). Yes, for $119.00. I left my van. Upon returning to pick up my van I find that my oil and filter change is $42.83, not $19.95 (and includes an additional $19.62 in shop supplies!) Guess I am paying for their shop rags or whatever. They were NOT able to change my instrument panel. They said it would blow a fuse. Ok - so $119.20 plus tax. Then they wanted to charge me another $119.20 + to change it back! No way! $104.20 plus tax to change my door lock (I provided the door lock). And $149.00 plus tax to tell me that I needed over $3900 worth of repairs plus possibly a new transmission!!! Believe me, my van is only valued at about $1400! I got the estimates printed out. They are charging for "Shop Supplies" on every service they perform, which doesn't explain anything, except an extra fee tacked on! I had a new radiator with antifreeze, new water pump, upper and lower radiator hoses, intake manifold gasket replaced, 1 inner tie rod repaired and my instrument panel installed for $1485.36!!! I will be doing a Yelp review for the awesome service and mechanic that I am so glad I found. read more

big thank you to Marcus. Needed a quick repair on my car and he got me in and in virtually no time had me back on the road. Extremely friendly read more

Terrible place and embodies everything you fear about getting ripped off at a repair shop. My previous 1 star review was mysteriously removed to boost their average back up, and if you look, 2 other 1 star reviews are hidden and don't affect their rating. In all seriousness, please do yourself a favor and reconsider ever bringing your vehicle in here, no matter how convenient or dire. read more

Sun Auto got me right in for an oil change with no wait. The service was quick, the gentleman at the desk was super friendly and encouraged me to purchase a cabin air filter at Autozone to save money. Overall I was in and out in 30 minutes and had a great experience. Will definitely be going back. read more

We all have been to auto shops and dread bringing our cars in for fear that something else will go wrong or possible this guy is "shifty". I usually give someone the benefit of the doubt the first couple times but after that if things still don't seem right, well, see ya pal. Another thing we all hate to see is a list of other items that need fixing when all we did was come in for something simple and only that one thing. Especially those of us that are mechanically inclined and would do the work if it wasn't for time that we do not have. I can honestly say that when Sun Auto in Georgetown services my vehicle they have been pleasant to work with. Even though they provide a list of items that need attention sooner or later, I find that they do not pressure me into getting them done. What else wins me over to them was my last visit to them. Now before I do any work myself I go and do the research, watch the videos, get the mechanics books, but this last time I did not do so well in my research avenue. Since my transmission has a slipping issue I figured I would throw in a quart or two of the Lucas 'Stop Slip'. In doing so it is only logical that if you put in a quart of fluid you need to take out a quart of fluid. I found the bolt(so I thought) that was for checking the fluid and the one for draining as well. I removed some fluid and proceeded to add the additive. I checked the dipstick and was surprised. I couldn't believe that I was now 2 quarts high on the transmission fluid check. I was sure that I did it right. So I did not throw the fluid out I just drained(good thing too). So now not being sure what the heck I did, I added the old fluid back in to the chamber and called Sun Auto to schedule a time to fix my mistake. When the person answered, it was polite and courteous. He(Chance(spelling might be wrong)), even assisted me in giving me a few things to try. I went back out to the vehicle and tried them and still no help. I proceeded to call back and Chance answered again, we set a time for the morning to check it out. Morning rolled around and I was dreading going in, I was sure I was the the joke of the day. When they brought the vehicle in and put it on the lift I showed them what I removed and did. Come to find out it was not the transmission bolt and fluid I took out but the transfer case. These guys did not snicker or have faces at me as to "what a dummy" I was. They corrected the issue and sent me on my merry way with a smile. I asked what I owed and they said nothing. I was sure I did not hear that correctly as they did spend some time and some fluid to add to the transfer case. I asked if he was sure and he replied they only added a little fluid and was no problem. All I can say is THANKS GUYS - YOUR AWESOME Sincerely, The Acura MDX read more

Inconvenient We called in to schedule a car alignment and oil change. The gentlemen said to bring the car in within two hours no problem. 40 minutes later arrived at the shop just to be told they were unable to get the car in for the alignment. It would have been all good if they would have picked up the phone and advised us of their situation. We would have rescheduled instead of going to lambs down the road same day service and matched their prices! My wife said, "I am just grumpy." read more

ATTENTION BMW OWNERS!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! They say they have worked with them, but they will charge $400 for some random reason. If I could give 0 stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I had to return 4 separate times, each time they did not fix the main problem. The first time I went in, my window had fallen below where the motor could bring it back up. They charged me $400 just to bring the window up, and they stated that I wasn't allowed to use the window. The following morning, I had tried to open the door, but it was completely stuck. I went back at the end of the day, and they had no answer for me. They then said that they would fix it, and it would be fixed in the next two days. Five days later, I returned to pick the car up (with a heads-up to Sun Auto a day in advance) because I had to take a road trip to Fort Worth. They had the door in pieces, and the door panel wasn't even attached to the car. It was pretty annoying that they didn't even bother to put it back on. When I got back, I dropped it off, once again, and they worked on it for another 2 days, then called saying it was ready. I picked it up, but failed to realize that the lock that protrudes from the inside of the car was missing, and the door still wasn't completely on. I call once again, and they tried blaming me for losing the lock piece. They told me that they ordered a part for the car, and it would be in in about a week. One week later, I call and the part is still not there. 3 weeks later, they call saying to bring the car in. The next day, I pick the car up again, and the door is STILL not on. I go in to ask why, and they have someone come out to me and tell me that the clips that hold the door together were worn and broke off. They lost the screw covers to the door, and it still wasn't sturdy when you pull on the handle from the inside. Just a few days ago, I took it to an ACTUAL BMW place, and they fixed the whole thing in less than 12 hours. In fact, there were no clips broken, they just had no clue how to install a door of a BMW. Never going back to this place, and I make sure to tell everyone I know about this experience. I have even exchanged bad experiences with others here at Sun Auto. Don't waste your time and money, go to a professional, cause this is NOT a professional business. read more

I had the worst experience with this company just last Friday on03/24/2017, I took my car in for a diagnostic because the engine light was on and was shutting off and stuttering at rare times, when we took it in, first it took them 6 bleeping hours, for a call. I called them and they said they said they suggested a complete oil flush and it was only a 2011 Hyundai elantra, I later figured out that it was too new to do a complete oil flush, it wasn't anything to do with the car diagnostic, then I called and spoke to the mechanic there, and was told that it read nothing back, like there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, but he then suggested that the vvt solenoids 2 of them needs to be replaced, but I told him if the diagnostic didn't read anything back, how would this be of help. I hung up the phone and went to pay for the cost, I shouldn't of paid for the diagnostic if there was no code reading. overall they are the worst I have been to so far. read more

Yesterday I went to Sun for an oil change for my 2009 Kia Rio with 71,000 miles on it. I had an appointment for 3:00 PM. After about 45 minutes the service guy comes and asks me if I had the timing belt replaced. They should be replaced every 30 K, also your power steering belt needs replacement. I asked what that would cost, he quoted me a price of $995 plus change. I said no, I had the power steering belt replaced about 15k ago. When I came home I called a Kia Dealer, they said timing belts need replacement every 90k to 100k, at a cost of $ 450.00. What's the deal? Doesn't sound right. I question their integrity. I got work done at Sun Auto Georgetown and several weeks later, unaware something faulty happened, my car was badly damaged. The incident was caused by Sun Auto. I went to them the next day, explained my situation, and stated I thought Sun Auto was at fault. Without debating or hesitating, Wes (manager) promptly began the process of repairing my car, coordinating services and parts. They drove me to and from the shop from my nearby workplace as well. My car was quickly fixed and in great shape. I've since received other work from them with success. I recommend Sun Auto Georgetown. read more

Paid $170 for an "alignment" here. Got home and crawled under the truck to see that everything was just hand tight. My truck still pulls to the right and and the steering wheel still isn't straight. I would of been better off aligning it myself in my driveway with a tape measure. read more

I've had several issues with this place on several vehicles. I gave them several chances...its just so frustrating Just one instance: I took my vehicle to a dealership and they indicated I needed new brakes, but were overpriced. So I decided to take the vehicle to Sun Auto in an attempt to get a better price. Sun Auto actually told me that the brakes were fine and did not need to be replaced. Two months and 2000 miles later, the brakes started grinding, so I took the vehicle back and they indicated that the brakes were so bad there was hardly anything left and not the drums were bad. Instead of $200 for brakes, I had to pay over $600 for brakes and drums. It was 2 months and the vehicle was back in there again... July 7 - Turned out, the problem was the front brakes this time. They fixed the brakes and called to follow up to make sure everything was satisfactory. read more

SLOW SLOW SLOW even with an appointment (and you need to make an appt for everything). Service was ok but there has always been "we discovered something else ..." The transport request is a chore/unavailable for long lengths of time. I always felt like I was being taken advantage of and talked to very condescendingly. Little eye contact from service writer. I just noted the manager's response to another posting here and that attitude says it all "it's always cheaper to do it yourself." read more

We took our car to get an inspection here and they wanted us to pay close to $2000 to "fix" our car. We declined and they offered to get it in "good enough condition" to pass for around $650. We again declined. They said we needed to replace the master cylinder and basically the whole brake system. (And it needed a new seat belt-because it would not retract.) We went to the auto part store, bought some brake fluid, filled it (it was at "minimum"-but brakes have always worked great) and replaced the seat belt our self. Took it back to have it re-inspected and they told us they would not pass our car if we did not replace the master cylinder! We took it to a different station and they passed it without any trouble. read more

After Eight years of going there this is the way they treat me: Today they tell me that they will not change the oil unless I buy a new oil pan like they told me I needed previously. Awhile back they informed me that the oil plug is stripped and the oil pan will need to be replaced for about $600. They claimed that my 2010 car is old and that is the reason the threads are stripped. Since I never went anywhere but Sun Auto I feel it was their fault and they should fix it and not charge me for something they broke. So after research I bought an over sized plug and had Quick Oil Change put it on. Now Sun Auto is huffy because I did not pay them for an oil pan. I just wasted eight years of my life being loyal to a company that is unethical. Shame on them. read more

These guys were very rude to my wife when she took our car in for an oil change. They ignored her when she returned to pick up the car, ignored another female in the waiting room, but jumped to their feet when a man walked in. This is just unacceptable behavior in today's world. They were also laughing at my wife when she was trying to discipline our 2.5 yo daughter for acting out... offered her mm's in the middle of a tantrum. Who does that! Spent $60 for a diagnostic on why my car was squeaking when I would turn it on for the first time in a day. Was told it was my timing belt and needed a new one as well as I had a cracked A/C belt. I went for a second opinion at Firestone and spent $9.99 for a diagnostic fee and was told my belts just needed a tightening. After a small fee of $25 to tighten my belts at Firestone I am squeak free and will not return to this money hungry business. Firestone also told me my A/C belt was not cracked, just worn. read more

Lowest price oil change around. As a female, I hate going to places that don't have a decent waiting room or if they hound me about an 'up-sale'...you need this and this and this. I've been coming to SunAuto for years. Waiting area is clean and comfortable and while they do notify me of what is due or needs to be done for my car, there is no pressure tactics. Staff is courteous and friendly. Only negative is that it always takes at least an hour for an oil change, even with an appointment. read more

To be fair their prices are very reasonable. The reason I will not be bringing my vehicles back is their inability to provide timely service or keep you informed as to the length of time the service will take. I brought my wife's car in for a new starter and we were quoted on 1.5 hours to replace the starter. We called ahead to make sure they had the parts ready and when we arrived they still had to go get the parts. 3.5 hours later the vehicle was still not done with out as much as a phone call. Then I dropped off my vehicle for an oil change and rear differential fluid change and left them the vehicle all weekend. When I called they said they had completed all service on the vehicle. I picked my truck up on Monday and they forgot to change the oil! Then the straw that broke the camel's back was again with my wife's car. We brought it in for an oil change, and they found a leaking transmission seal and we were quoted that it would take an hour. 3 hours later the vehicle was still not completed, again without as much as a phone call and this time we were waiting at the shop with our young child. I had to ask the front desk what was taking so long and they said "we don't know." I think the mechanics do very acceptable work but due to the poor service staff I will be finding a different shop. I know the occasional accident or mishap can happen, but three times in a row is now a trend. read more

I had been a customer of Sun Auto for 5 years and have noticed a change from customer friendly to shameless up-selling of unneeded services and parts. Read the most recent low ratings and the self serving responses by Sun; the ratings are accurate, there has been a major change for the worst in their management and business practices. After long trip last summer I noticed a fist size oil stain under the car. Sun looked at the engine and pressured me to replace all drive train seals for $6,000 ... in a 15 year old car worth $2,000 with no oil usage and no further leaks ! I next used them to diagnose and replace a sensor on my 2002 Prius. Good work and fair price as always, but misrepresented condition of air filter and sold me a unneeded fuel system flush and injector cleaning package. Be very careful about their recommendations as they now shamelessly push unneeded parts and services. I'll be looking for another repair shop. read more

I have had my car serviced there twice in the past 6 months. They fixed everything to my satisfaction and even told me about my battery, which was not cranking at the amp power (not sure the terms) that it should. I had just purchased the battery from O'Reilly's. The man at the counter contacted O'Reilly's for me and determined that I had one month left on my full replacement warranty. First off, I wasn't even aware I had a problem, but then for him to help me locate and identify the steps I needed to take to get the battery fixed was above and beyond. He didn't have to do that. He was genuinely interested in my car rather than what Sun was going to get from me. Obviously I was not going to get my battery replaced at Sun since I had this warranty, so that shop had nothing to gain by helping me, other than great customer service. I will continue to take my vehicle there when I need repairs and/or service. Great place. read more
