I saw the high reviews for this place and saw the even greater prices for this place so I knew I had to check it out. I ordered from here using GrubHub via delivery and I ordered a tonkotsu ramen (with spicy spread on the side) -- they also MADE you choose a rice as an extra which I thought was a little strange but I didn't let it bother me. I got the fried rice. I also got a side of the chicken karaage. The tonkotsu ramen was also supposed to come with boba tea according to the menu, but I didn't receive that... I also didn't get the spicy spread that I placed in the order. The tonkotsu ramen was okay. Nothing special.. It didn't taste the most authentic and I was disappointed that they didn't have bamboo shoots in the ramen. The meat in the ramen was great but didn't have too much seasoning. I wish the broth had a little more flavor, but it wasn't a bad ramen. I think the value price justifies the quality of the ramen. The chicken karaage was also decent, but it wasn't anything too crazy. I also ordered this to-go, so it wasn't as crispy as I'd like it to be. It was okay but I also wish they served a dipping sauce for the dish. I ended up making my own spicy mayo with kewpie mayo (Japanese mayo), Buldak sauce and agave. I've always wanted dark meat nuggets and that's exactly what these are. The katsu is very very oily and is not seasoned, but is good with the sauce that comes with it. I find katsu to be generally unseasoned most places that serve it so as long as it has that nice super crunchy panko breading and a good sauce, I'm satisfied. Food was great the first time I ordered to go from here. The next two times, service was terrible. The last time I ordered to go one of the meals I got was ready 25 minutes after I ordered which was close to when it was supposed to be ready. The second meal was not ready, after a few minutes they asked if we wanted noodles instead of the fried rice because the fried rice was taking a little while to cook and I said no I wanted the rice still. Several more minutes go by and I ask how much longer and they say probably another 10-15 minutes. This would be an hour after I had placed my to go order and my other meal had been sitting there ready for half an hour just getting cold. No one apologized or anything. I ended up asking for a refund and left. The time before this, they were out of one of the things I ordered and despite making me enter a callback number when placing my to go order, they did not contact me nor did they tell me they were out of it. They only told me after I paid and looked in my bag and saw it was missing. Food is great but not worth the horrible customer service. Also took at least 10 minutes to get a refund as nobody working there was able to do it and they had to call someone else to refund me. read more

I had the vegetable ramen (which included carrots, bean sprouts, zucchini, mushrooms, corn, onion, green onion, bamboo shoots, and broccoli, as well as an egg which I opted out of receiving), and it was delicious. My SO had the sumo ramen, which comes with pork and shrimp tempura, and they ate every bite of theirs as well. Ramen dishes also come with a complimentary milk tea, which was a nice bonus! As far as the ambience, the interior is clean, simple, and modern without losing that classic ramen shop atmosphere. They even had holiday decor up! 1st time to visit and definitely going to be a repeat for me! It isn't a huge place or small. I would say the outside appearances fool you. This location is located at the cross road of Arkansas and Cooper which is near UTA. The inside of the place is very clean and organized. It isn't the biggest place but just right in size as mentioned earlier. We ordered 3 dishes/entrees which consisted of chicken karaage, combination fried rice with nice large pieces of shrimp, and the grilled salmon. Both the grilled salmon and chicken karaage were served with a bowl of rice, miso soup with pieces of tofu, cold veggies with some light flavoring sauce (carrots and broccoli), and 2 cut egg rolls. I also tried a honey milk tea with my lunch. It is made on order so the food is fresh and you really get your bang for buck in terms of food. Check out the prices!! The food was great and it quite a bit of food for the price which was amazing. There are other menu items like ramen dishes and curry dishes along with different types of gourmet teas if one wants to call it that like bubble milk tea and honey milk tea. You can also see their specials during the weekdays too as you walk into the place. Our waiter/host was on point with any refills and extra plates we needed to share the combo fried rice. I found my new ramen place! I just recently started eating ramen again and I saw this place had good reviews so I had to stop by! First of all, I personally have never been to any ramen place that automatically gives you boba with your ramen! And as a boba lover this made me give them extra points! My ramen was very tasty and I ordered some spicy sauce on the side for an extra .50 cents -- totally worth it if you're a spicy lover like myself! I came right before lunch around 11:50pm and I was happy to see there was only a couple people there. I'm not sure how busy this place gets but I was glad I didn't encounter a rush. A decent no-frills ramen joint, this place is closer to a 3.5 for me, but I was satisfied by the end so I don't mind giving this place a little nudge~ The ramen here is pretty good! It's not the best in DFW by far, but for an Arlington joint, it holds its own among Ninja and Piranha. I'd rank it above Ninja, but maybe on par with Piranha? Despite the fact that their ramen is more or less on par quality wise, these two places are pretty night and day in any other aspect, so I can imagine going to one or the other based off mood. If you want a more aesthetic vibe, sushi and other Japanese staples alongside the ramen, and a (slightly) bigger bill, you want Piranha. If you want a homey, completely non-intimidating atmosphere with Taiwanese menu items alongside the ramen and a good deal, you want Sumo. If it matters to you, service is pretty meh with both. I got the Tonkotsu ramen ($8.95), which also came with complimentary milk tea, as it would with all the other ramen on the menu. The milk tea...well to be blunt, it was complete trash; it was weird tasting, watered down, and the boba was mush; HOWEVER, it was freeeee and with a $9 price tag for a big bowl of ramen and free tea, I'm still gonna drink it and be pleased lol. The ramen itself was thankfully pretty tasty. Broth was creamy and inviting, albiet slightly bland, but the bamboo shoots were surprisingly really flavorful. The pork was cooked well and tasted good, but the fat was a little too chewy; I had to lowkey spit out the little mound I made with the gristle because I was tired of chewing on it lol. Piranha and Ninja better not slouch as there is a new ramen competitor in town and this place is no pushover, the ramen here is actually pretty solid. I love their surprisingly large and affordable menu and that they also serve boba/bubble tea, which I guess shouldn't be too weird since the owner is from Taiwan where it was invented. Sumo does a decent "san su ji" pepper chicken appetizer but they label it as "Japanese chicken nuggets" which is unfortunate. The only real negative--we were one of only two tables eating around 8pm yet we never saw the server come back once to ask for refills/check on us etc. which was fine since we did have our initial waters PLUS boba drinks(it comes free with any ramen order) but its the principle kind of thing, so new restaurant service issue aside this is a place def worth checking out. read more
