As a healthcare clinician, I stopped by to pick up a large lunch order for several physicians. Knowing this location is surrounded by hospitals, I expected large orders wouldn't be unusual. I was quoted a 40-minute wait, but the order took over an hour. Delays happen. I would have been completely understanding if someone had simply communicated that the kitchen was running behind. Instead, two employees at the front mocked me while I was waiting, and I could clearly hear staff in the kitchen talking about me loud enough for the dining room to hear. That was far more disappointing than the wait itself. After reading other reviews, it seems long wait times are a recurring issue. If the kitchen consistently needs more time, be honest with customers about realistic expectations. People are remarkably understanding when they're treated with respect. I won't be bringing future physician lunch orders here. Not because the food took too long, but because of how I was treated. read more

I ordered their Takoyaki along with their Chocolate Temptation Cake. The wait time was quite long but the food was pretty good. So this restaurant is the perfect example of not to judge a book by its cover. I just finished my first meal at the icafe and let me say it was AMAZING! I was craving some sushi and searched for local sushi spots nearby that were still open. Icafe came up and I've passed this restaurant up a million times however I've had my reservations. Well...No More Reservations! If anyone is doubting whether or not to give this place a try stop doubting and do it! First let's touch on the service. The young lady whom took my order was super sweet, she greeted me with a smile and was very pleasant. Thats always a bonus for me when I encounter great customer service. She offered me a seat and stated that she would bring my order out as I chose to dine in. I ordered the Cajun Sushi Roll and Wow, this sushi did not disappoint. Might I add there was a little kick to the sushi but it wasn't unbearable, it just made it flavorful. Also, the sushi was topped with crawfish and avocado. Oh and while dining in, I noticed this restaurant received a lot of delivery orders. Just an FYI for those whom may want some sushi via a delivery service. Overall, the only thing I was disappointed in was myself because it took me sooo long to try this restaurant. I was not very impressed with the delivery order I received. Very small portions for the price, nothing exceptional about the taste of most items, and multiple alterations were missed on the order including some I was charged for. It made me sad because I used to like eating here before the pandemic. The dessert options were very nice though, as was the boba tea. Maybe the quality and portions are better if you eat in, but for the price I really can't recommend delivery unless you're just getting tea and dessert. If you're near UTA and looking for a chill place to study that offers food and boba then iCafe is the place for you. There is a ton of seating in the cafe including booths, a high table, and even more seating in the back of the cafe. The restroom is always clean and the service is fast. Drinks: Jasmine milk tea with boba - decent. Food: Stew pork bento box - good the pork had nice flavor but was slightly dry, but the sauce makes up for it. Minced pork bowl - good, I just wish the meat had a little bit more fat like the traditional Taiwanese version does, but still good and it comes with some stewed vegetables. Sakura roll - actually really good, I was surprised at the decent quality of the salmon and size of the roll, would definitely recommend getting this if you like salmon, tempura shrimp, and avocado! read more

This sushi and Boba drinks place is in a converted old IHOP, the a-frame variety that used to be IHOP's signature. Inside has been nicely remodeled into an updated, counter-service cafe with chipper service and excellent food. I'm not a big sushi guy, but I love iCafe. I've been here several times, and always liked everything I've ordered. I've brought half a dozen people over those few times, and all of them have enjoyed what they ordered. If you're used to sit-down sushi, you may find the experience at iCafe refreshing as I did. The menu above the counter is supplemented with a large flat panel display at counter-level on which hi-res images of all the sushi rolls may be viewed. For an infrequent sushi consumer like me, this is extremely helpful. My +1 ordered the Ramen soup, which seems like a "why would I order this at a restaurant"item as we tend to think of Ramen as the package of noodles that cost less than $1 on which many of us survived for some span of years between 18 and 25. But, the Ramen at iCafe is fricking GREAT. The Boba and other specialty drinks deserve special mention as they er de-LISH. The Boba here is my favorite, soft and subtly sweet. Their servers were very friendly their prices are reasonable and the portions are very large. Food comes out pretty quickly and it is fresh hot and delicious. Normally I really like this place and I go all the time whenever I can. Really love the chicken katsu bento & it's one of my favorite places to go to especially since it's close to campus. Unfortunately though I recently found some plastic (or something resembling plastic) in my katsu and as I pulled it out there was some more in the piece I was about to eat. I just had to throw everything out not knowing if there was more in the other pieces or not. I ordered agar boba in my drink and the drink wasn't TOO sweet like what I expected. Cons: the place does have a weird smell coming in. It's about time I made a review for this place, since I've frequented it too many times to count. iCafe in itself is a good student-friendly spot for all things student-like. This is the main reason it's thriving like no other, imho. This restaurant/cafe is a hub for studying with the many booths, tables, and bright atmosphere, and it's always very clean, which is a great thing. Interior design is pleasing to me, and I hope they never change from the modern, white aesthetic plus manga all over to the side of the cafe. For food, I just get the chicken katsu, and the pork katsu is also good, but I'm quitting pork altogether, so chicken will do. It's very crispy and the right consistency for a typical katsu, and I dig it. I've made a few friends hooked on it, and I think it shows from cross-experimenting of different taste palettes that the chicken katsu (with the rice and veggies) is a go-to for this girl. Perfect to-go food for when I have endless study group sessions in the library. Also, the steamed dumplings, or gyoza, is also quite delish, good for on-the-go appetizing. The boba on the other hand, is not up to par to my standards. Compared to many local competition - rhymes with "Stephanie" lol - it's definitely in need of a facelift. Maybe try to use real fruits, better powders, better quality teas, or less sugar? All the above??? I swear every time I order a tea, regardless of the flavor, it is so dang SWEET. But, when I ask for "less sweet" it's bland as white rice. I just don't find a perfect tea at all with iCafe, and I'm not even THAT picky. Oh well. While prices have gone up (and whose haven't?) this location is still a great study spot. Located near UTA, iCafe is a nostalgic restaurant from my college days. The food is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying the chicken katsu bento. The sushi rolls are well made and delicious as well. The biggest let down is the price of their smoothies/boba, even though they are tasty. I've been here a couple of times already, and I really like it. I'll break it down into a few categories. Appearance: This place is extremely clean. I love how there's free WiFi and it has a homey feel. There's many private booths, as well as a growing collection of Manga comics and Samsung TVs in each corner. In my opinion, it feels like a small house with rooms. Bring your laptops and notebooks to study while enjoying some food. Food: I picked up a few things from each "category". There's sushi, bento boxes, and ramen/udon noodles. Today I bought a popcorn chicken bento box, the rainbow roll, and Tonkotsu ramen. My cousin and I split the food between us and she really enjoyed the noodles. (BTW my cousin lived in Japan for 5 years, so she has been exposed to authentic Japanese food). Ramen was chewy, ingredients in the soup were clean and tasted good. The fish on the rainbow roll was very fresh. Presentation of it wasn't very fancy, but the roll wasn't dry and was very fulfilling. The popcorn chicken in the bento was a bit on the dry side, but nothing to complain about. Drinks: The drinks trip me up here. Sometimes they taste really good, and other times, it tastes a bit powdery and off. Today I ordered a Jasmine milk tea, but I think they might have put in something else instead of Jasmine. My cousin really liked her drink though, I ordered her a passion fruit green tea. Service: The employees here are extremely friendly. They make sure you are comfortable and keep the place tidy. Super nice and clean with comfortable seatings and good layout are the strengths I need to point out for this place. Who wouldn't love clean restaurants, right? Also Free Wi-Fi and outlets available by the seatings, good for studying as well. There is also a computer by the entrance for you to use for free. I think it tastes just about right.** I always get Minced Pork Rice here. Very comforting and tasty! Meat over rice with a bit of vegetable on the side, simple yet delicious and filling too. Ramen here is really good as well. I admitted it's not the best ever but the best (and the only place) I can get it Arlington. I have tried all of them but frequent Shio (If you like light based, chicken based soup) and Tonkotsu ( thick and creamy pork based soup) Tempura is also good but it's probably hard to go wrong with it. Chicken Karaage (also called popcorn chicken) is good as well. Curry Rice is ok, I would go to Mr. Max in Irving if I really crave curry rice though. But I think this place make it better than Bethany's Yaki Udon is good. Noodle is well cooked. It tasted good but I, however, do not like the meat in it (Beef, chicken and shrimp) I don't know if it is because of the combination meat or maybe just the beef. I might try again one day. Waffle and Ice Cream is ok. Not great but it's a good choice if you want dessert. Shave Ice is pretty good. Not full of Toppings like the Korean ones but still pretty good. I love my matcha drinks here It is much better than Bethany's (I compare it side by side one time and the one at Bethany's has no taste of Matcha in it -just very powdery.) The regular milk tea come close between two places. I have passion fruit green tea (half sugar) and thought it was pretty refreshing. Free Assam tea is really good. BOBA is well cooked here. The rewards are the same way as Bethany's You only get the rewards for buying drinks (10 get 1 free - Bethany's is probably 8 I'm not so sure) You do not get the rewards for drinks that come with entrees It's already free or discounted. Give this place a try if you like Taiwanese food (and Japanese and Sushi and BOBA!!) If you don't like it much at first try, then try again like I do and explore their menu. This place is surprisingly spacious and clean. The flavored tea here is good and refreshing. It tastes like real tea and not sugar filled water like most boba places. My personal favorite is the mango green tea. The boba is not good. It never tastes fresh and is always too hard for my liking. The food is pretty good. I've had the sakura roll, salmon fried rice, and the tonkatsu ramen. All of which was good and well worth the price. Portions are decent as well. The service is friendly and the wifi is faster than most places. It's a good place to go to have boba drinks, eat, or just to get some work done. They've only been opened for a few weeks so they are still ironing out some of kinks but I just wanted to take a moment to comment on their beginning stages. First and foremost, you will be very surprised walking into this establishment. Don't let the shady old looking building deter you from the semi-cute, bright, and cleanliness that is waiting inside. They appear to be trying to get their feet wet with making this into an internet/food/boba cafe so a couple computers are set up for surfing and wifi is available on your mobile and portable devices with purchase of food, which is pretty cool since the boba competition a few blocks down the street do not offer internet connection. Food: Udon Yaki Soba- mediocre in terms of flavor but the texture of the noodle was pretty good. It wasn't too tender nor too dry and was a good portion size for the nearly $9 cost; but, it was a combination of beef and shrimp. pan fried dumplings- never have I been to an establishment that could go wrong with dumplings and though I was not disappointed here, I was not wowed either. Chicken Fried rice- Again, a good portion size for the price, but I needed to add a touch of soy sauce as it was on the bland side for my palate. There was a good amount of chicken in the rice which was a redeeming touch to the dish. California Roll- nice texture and consistency on the sushi rice and you really can't go wrong with this newbie sushi eater roll. Assam Mild Tea- Free with any entree but does not include boba. It was good flavor, perfect touch of creaminess and not overly sweet. Thai Tea- Better stick with those you would get at a Thai restaurant Passion Fruit Green Tea- Very very sweet for my taste but otherwise it was good in fruit flavor and you can see the actual passion fruit seeds on the bottom of your cup. Though I know they have just opened and working on a few things, my suggestion would be to put more pictures on the menu of their food items and offer drink substitutions with their entrees for a price difference. I was very surprised when this happened to us as my friend did not want the milk tea and wanted a smoothie instead but was declined when he offered paying extra for a smoothie substitution. He was forced to stick with the milk tea offered with his entree unless he wanted to make a full price purchase if he wanted different drink. I would wait for them to make some more changes before I bring a pack of friends to hang out here, but hopefully if all goes well, it will be a nice place to hang out, grab some boba, and surf the web. read more

Run away from the bathroom in the back. It smells funkay - maybe it's just a onetime thing? But from reading other reviews, it unfortunately doesn't seem like it. Otherwise, this place is pretty clean and nice looking on the inside. Food wise, it's just a normal pan-Asian restaurant that serves food from Japanese sushi to Chinese beef noodle soup. Some of their dishes come with a free drink like oolong tea or green milk tea (boba=+$.50), which is a VERY nicely added bonus. Service is so-so, but I must admit the dishes came out pretty fast. I unfortunately am comparing this to Dallas Asian restaurants, so I wouldn't come back for the food, but their drinks and nice study booths will definitely draw me back when I'm in the area. This is definitely my go to place when I want some milk tea. The milk tea is not just great, but it's cheaper than a lot of other tea places I've seen around. They will give you a large milk tea with no Boba, for $3.24, including tax, while a lot of other places I've visited will charge $3.50 for a regular/small size, before tax. Boba, just like most other places costs $0.50 extra, and they provide a variety of other toppings to choose from. They even have a few drinks that come free, in a regular/small size, with the meal, not including just appetizers or sushi items. If you ask them at the register they will let you know; they used to have a menu on the wall to say it but they have taken it off to tell about their new menu options instead. So the free drink with the meal is kind of a secret menu thing now. Only one I'm confident about being on the menu is an Oolong milk tea, as that is the one I choose every time I get food there. It's also only $0.50 to turn the regular size into a large. If you want to come just for a drink, they do offer a "stamping" system. For it to work you have to download the "Flok" app to and click on icafe to see your stamp card. Then just tell the cashier you want a stamp for your app and they should bring out the QR scan for you. After the 10th drink you get a large drink with any topping for free. Doesn't work if your drink comes with the meal. If you buy multiple drinks at once, you also get to scan it for as many drinks you get, which is cool. Now the parking for the place can be a bit tricky if you don't know about it. There's only one entrance to get into it. Parking is not that big, so on Fridays and Sundays, not Saturday because they're closed on that day, which is also a downside, it gets packed and it gets difficult to park there. I don't know what to think about iCafe. The first time my husband and I came here, we were amazed by the Ramen. I ordered the Shoyu ramen, he ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, and we split the fried gyoza. The gyoza was absolutely delicious until it reached room temperature, then it was very mediocre. We tasted each other's soup and decided to switch bowls because I really liked the Tonkotsu. It was a very fun, if weird, experience overall. The entire restaurant was packed with students studying, and the place was dead quite. My husband and I just sat there texting each other back and forth because if felt like a huge no-no to make noise. We went home and laughed about the whole thing. We came back today, and the experience was decidedly not as pleasant. We ordered the Shio Ramen, the Shoyu Ramen, and the gyoza again. We scarfed down the gyoza given last time and then realized they had brought my husband Shoyu Udon. We brought it up to be fixed and sat waiting while the staff had a long discussion about it. It turned out, the cashier had put down Shio Udon instead of Ramen, and then the cooking staff messed up on her error. They fixed it in the end, but the quality of both Ramen were subpar today. I don't know if they had an off day today, but I suspect we were hungrier and knew less about Ramen on our first visit. We don't think we're coming back and instead will wait till we can afford the $$ Ramen restaurants. (Side note: the restaurant smells pretty stinky, especially when you walk in. If you're looking for a study spot with passable food and drinks, this is the spot. I also love how their menu has a section for vegetarian options. For entrees, vegetarians basically have the option of fried rice, fried noodles, or soup-based ramen/udon. I got the veggie creamy ramen and a winter melon milk tea. The winter melon milk tea was waaaay too sweet, so unless you like drinking pure sugar, maybe get something else. I don't think it's possible either to get that drink less sweet (since my friend had gotten it before and they said they couldn't lower sweetness on the winter melon drinks). You can ask for less sweet on pretty much all other drinks though. Their ice to drink ratio was reasonable. As for the ramen, it was just kinda mediocre overall. The soup base was flavorful enough, and there were a lot of veggies in it (bok choy, mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrots, cabbage, etc.), but I wasn't a huge fan of the pile of thinly sliced scallions on top. The noodles themselves were also just kind of eh, and nothing to write home about. Prices were decent. $8-ish for the ramen and $1 for the winter melon milk tea. First time my family went to go eat at iCafe. Finally a good Asian fusion restaurant has came to Arlington. The staff was very helpful and answered all the menu questions we had without hesitation. There is also a convenient touch screen menu that shows a photo of each menu item. The cafe is very clean and the layout is superb. We had our two year old with us so we sat in the front room while the back room was occupied by students studying. Good and drinks were on point. No complaints. The only reason I didn't give the review a full 5 stars is because of the loyalty concept. iCafe is associated with the phone app "loyalty block". Which is a digital frequent customer card. iCafe allows customers to purchase 10 drinks and get a large one for free. Our family ordered two entrees which came with 2 complimentary boba teas. However the restaurant would not accommodate our loyalty card. This doesn't make much sense to me, you would think they would like the idea of a customer spending about $8.00 on a meal. Why would I buy and entree which has a complimentary drink and then purchase a second drink just to get a punch on my digital card? Stopped by while visiting a friend of mine at the UT Arlington Campus nearby. This little cafe right down the street from the campus is meant to appeal to college students for sure. They offer WiFi and have a corner tucked off beside the counter area with various Manga's. I couldn't spot anyone that didn't have their face buried in a laptop or book, and everyone else seemed to be around college age. The food for the most part was decent to good at times, but nothing really stuck out to me other than the Gyoza. We ordered calamari to start, which was soft and not at all chewy, but tasted a bit of the freezer it was previously contained in. Following that, we ordered two rolls that were recommended to us by the very polite and well spoken lady whom took our order, the first being a Rainbow Roll, the later name escapes me. The Rainbow roll tasted fresh enough, but wasn't well put together as it seemed to easily fall apart despite being a simple roll. The other roll had a great flavor, but was a bit over powered by the sauce it was smothered in. The sushi prices were pretty standard, and despite sounding a bit harsh, I enjoyed them for what I paid. Our entrées consisted of Udon for my friend, and a Chicken Katsu Bento for myself. The Udon was great! Plentiful, flavorful, with just the right amount of kick as my friend requested. The Chicken Katsu had a great flavor, and the Bento itself came with a salad, Kim Chi, four pieces of a California roll, and a couple of pieces of Pan Seared Gyoza. The Salad was good, well presented and fresh. The Gyoza was great, making us both wish we had ordered it as an appetizer instead of the calamari. The Kim Chi tasted good enough, but didn't stand out from any other Kim Chi I've ever had. The California roll was as simple as they come, a standard California roll but it tasted exactly as it was suppose to. The Bento box only ran $8.95, which is a great value in my opinion. We also both ordered teas with aloe jelly, which we enjoyed quite a bit. I'd come back for those, but having tried a bit of what iCafe has to offer in the line of cuisine, I'd like to give them another shot some time in the future. Although not exactly a great dining experience, I certainly didn't dislike anything and actually really enjoyed my Bento Box. Staff and the interior (booths) is nice. Good place to go to if you want to study and also free internet. But the drinks are meh. I got the matcha and red bean with boba and grass jelly. Staff was kind enough to do the boba/jelly one price (50 cent) instead of both for a dollar. I didn't enjoy my drink, it wasn't cold and where was the red bean flavor? Half way thru I realize my grass jelly was just a big chunk so I had to use my straw to cut it up. My friend ordered taro milk tea that tasted powdery and another friend that got a fresh mango drink that tasted artificial. All three of us didn't finish our drink. First off, the setting is nice, quiet, and comfortable. The cashier lady that took my order was kind of rude. Pork comes on the bento box and I cannot eat pork, so i asked to substitute with the California roll or something else and she said no. Now lets start on the food. The first time I came here. I just wanted dessert, so I ordered the green tea ice cream with waffles. The ice cream tasted NOTHING like green tea. But I was warned that their desserts have no flavor, so that was my fault. Before I left, I was interested in their menu and wanted to come back to try there teas and entrees. I came back and order their chicken katsu bento box with wintermelon milk tea and thai tea. Their chicken katsu is disgusting. Even their katsu sauce is awful and I am obsessed with katsu sauce! Their spicy mayo was literally just mayo and siracha! The ginger salad dressing seemed old and dry.(wtf) ATLEAST their milk teas were good! That is probably the only reason why I would come back.
