I've always thought the best customer service experience is one where the client feels like they're the only client in the universe, and that the party providing the service is devoted to the singular task of addressing the client's needs. Obviously, a bit of a fantasy given a business with multiple clients, but some businesses pull it off: they create an environment where you feel like you're truly cared for, as if you're the only client. Evolve Athletic Club has accomplished this with me. The staff here are extremely competent, supportive, attentive to detail, and prioritized all my personal objectives. Every question has a good answer and every workout is challenging. A lot of care is put into recovery and nutrition. The space is very clean and organized. The staff has done a great job to build amazing rapport and trust. On a side note, you know the expression, "zero fucks given"? It's this attitude where a person literally does not care about a single thing. Plants need watering? No. Need to pay rent? Nah. Clothes getting dirty and need washing? Whatever. Failing school? Ite. Evolve is the opposite of this. In fact, I think they're the opposite of this plus more. Not only do they do everything you think that's required of them, they also do stuff that you don't consider. They take the initiative to say: "hey, this is cool and could be beneficial to you. Why don't you try it?" But, but...you're reviewing a business. Aren't corporate entities "it's" and not "they's"? Sure. However, I stopped thinking of Evolve as a corporate entity as soon as I started working out there. All the staff members look organically happy and engaged, and everyone has a great sense of humor. It genuinely feels like the people here are part of a family. Perhaps I'm just happy that I'm in much better shape. But, at the end of the day, results are results. Not only did I get results, I got them with a process that was fun and engaging. I'm more encouraged than ever to work out and be healthy.

I was really excited to visit King Spa in Palisades Park while I was in the tri-state area. Unfortunately, I left feeling completely disappointed and more stressed than relaxed. I went on a Monday morning hoping to avoid crowds and have a peaceful day. Things started off on the wrong foot almost immediately. While I was simply checking the size of the uniform, holding it up to see if there was a difference in the width, an employee came over and snatched the second pair out of my hand as if I was trying to take something I shouldn't have. It was not a great way to start when I had barely gotten in the door. Next, the layout was also really confusing. The spa is spread across multiple floors with different sections and stairways, but no one explained where anything was or how to navigate the space. I spent a lot of time in the morning trying to figure out where I was and it felt like I was nosing around someone else's house: uncomfortable. The biggest issue, though, was communication. A woman in the locker room offered my niece and me a deal for two massages for $140 ($70 each) and asked me to send the money through Zelle. I sent $170, including what I thought was a generous tip of over 20%. She arranged the appointment, but I didn't confirm what type of massage I wanted. I foolishly assumed they would ask before starting. We had lunch beforehand - the food was delicious and the portion was huge. Unfortunately, they don't offer to-go boxes, so I needed to reschedule our massages in order to finish my meal. Before even finishing my meal, I went to the massage counter to see if we reschedule our appointments. A younger patron helped translate at the massage desk, but she needed my time slot and took it for herself. She told me the woman would help me reschedule and then left. When I tried to figure out my new time, the interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I was given time without being asked if it worked for me, and when I asked about other options, I was told there were none. I would have cancelled but had already paid, so I took the L. When it was finally time for the massage, we were taken back without anyone asking what type of massage we wanted. I realized my mistake because it was a much more intense massage style and is not my preference. At that point though, after so many rushed and uncomfortable interactions, I honestly didn't feel comfortable advocating for myself to tell them I wanted reflexology. The final issue happened while I was changing before leaving. The same woman who arranged the massage came over and told me I hadn't paid enough tip. I was confused because... it was a tip. She told me I owed another $20 and (to add insult to injury) that I couldn't get my license back from the front desk until I paid. That brought the tip to over 35% on a service I didn't choose and didn't enjoy. I came to King Spa looking for rest and relaxation, but instead left feeling like I had spent my hard-earned money somewhere that never quite felt comfortable and certainly not welcomed.

They then assign you a small locker for your shoes and then you go inside to the gender specific locker rooms where you have a larger locker. They issue you a uniform that you need to wear while in the common areas so you need to change into that in the locker room. Since the locker rooms are gender specific, all baths within that area require full nudity (I did not participate in those but I heard they were wonderful). Any service like mud bath and scrubs require full nudity and you can sign up online or right inside the locker room. If nudity isn't your thing, there are still plenty of things to do (just no bath stuff). In the common area, all genders intermingle and there are 5 different saunas will all different temperatures and all different themes. They have a sleeping room (which is also used for a nice yoga class), lounge chairs, a common sitting area, a cafe, and a small eatery. You can rent games at the cafe for free and the cafe has a huge menu of both healthy and indulgent treats. You can sign up for different massages, facial, hair, or foot treatments right in the common area. I do suggest signing up for these services online beforehand because they fill up quickly (all services are an extra charge and automatically add an 18% gratuity). We spent about 7 hours here with a group of 7 people and we wish we had more time. I do wish that they had proper showers inside with curtains and/or a changing area for those of us that are a little shy. Staff was friendly and we'll definitely be back. Afternoon got crowded so I would suggest going earlier in the day if you're going on a weekend.

Parking , a concern of mine, is perfect - free, and right in front of the building. Dallin, my PT , is excellent. He gave me individual attention and encouragement. I enjoyed each therapy session and felt stronger and more confident. Each session Dallin added exercises that really helped me walk better but I never felt stressed.
